Erika was off and though she didn't have an army with her, she certainly felt confident with Machamp backing her up. Her party went through the winding tunnels, Erika reciting her desire to bring Sno up to be a Froslass.

"...Because it is kind of a story which, I don't know if anyone is interested in hearing it. I basically met a Froslass when I was younger and wanted one ever since. There is more to it but I..." Erika slowed as she was slowing coming to a realization. "We've been working our way up back to the... throne room?" She inquired, trailing off in volume as she rounded the last bend to discover a massive hole in, yep, the wall to the throne room. Just beyond, the rear of the drill and the sounds of battle.

She lead her group forward, and she finally unveiled the action going on inside. The little drillboy was here with his entourage, sure enough, but two others had made an appearance: Maple and Ellyn. It appears her arrival was not a moment too soon

"Hey!" Erika hollered, "That's sooo rotten to outnumber them in a battle like that! Another thing..." She started, slowly panning her gaze over to the boy now holding her precious dawnstone! "Hey! You can't just take that after all you've done!"

Chic rolled up right next to Erika and glared at the boy and his Kirlia. "Now you better hand it over because now I'd say things are a bit more even so you can't bully your way out of this one."

And so Erika and Chic were ready to enter the fray!

"Well... I'm glad you guys approve!" Erika blushed bashfully from receiving such praise and tried to play it off. "I'm sure you guys could have managed it, too~" Of course, it was nice to hear their praise!

It was also nice to see that the issue of the cave was being solved by their army. "Oh... I was a bit worried all the Fighting types wouldn't back down from a fight, if I am being honest. But that's great that they went and sealed that." Erika admitted but also admired that the Fighting types weren't all Brawn. Was it bad to think that? Erika briefly went up in arms internally with this question until Elana finally chimed in.

Erika felt herself slightly drop after Elana reminded her of their other objective. They still had another confrontation, sure, but was Elana upset about something? Erika wasn't exactly emotionally mature enough to decipher through those sighs. She did just rally an army to help Elana... well there were a whole ot of reasons to help, but that little extra bit of going above and beyond was urged on by wanting to get in someone's good graces...

Alas, Erika thought she missed the mark. "Oh... Right. The snotty boy." Erika sighed and turned to Machamp.
She nodded back at the King of the Mountain. She masked her dejected look with a smile as she hailed her ally. "You and your friends were great, Machamp! We've got the mountain sealed, but I know that punk is just going to make another cave on his way back. So if you are up for one more march, I'm sure we can catch him. Besides, how weak is it to just drill your way through the mountain! I came out here willing to dig with my hands for what I wanted." Erika sounded annoyed as she ranted for several reasons. "Speaking of, Machamp, I did come here for something, but I'll explain on the way because I think that boy is going after it, too!"

And so Erika began to lead Chic and whoever else would follow down the artificial cave. If Machamp followed, she would talk about the Dawn Stone and how there might be only one in the mountain. She'd rant a bit more about how unfair the boy was, all at a moderate pace at first. There was no urgency like sealing that a cave but then it dawned on Erika that the boy might evolve his Kirla as soon as he got the stone and thus, she picked up her pace...

Chic nodded her head. "Com-combusk-en!" which translated to 'Ever since I was little, I looked up to strength!' and she meant it. If she could be the one that others look up to, she'd feel all the more justified in her goal. Clearly seeing these Pokemon around her, she had a ways to go. Yet she knew it was not impossible with Erika's determination, she had already seen her strength grow incredibly and she knew she can continue to advance. Maybe one day this would be her mountain? In due time.

---

"Yea. I thought finding the strongest Pokemon here would be the best ally to have. Nice work but we have to move quick before Ewan and Elana are in any more danger!" Erika gasped in practically one breath as she met up with Joshua. She was relieved to see he had succeeded, but she had other things on her mind. Off they went.

Erika's expectations for being a Pokemon Trainer did not include leading a battle charge. She was more surprised however, and perhaps not thinking clearly at this adrenaline filled point, that she was actually keeping up with everyone. Or was it that they were following her? Either reality was a real jolt to Erika to drive her on!

It felt like it did not take too long for transfer her way back through the cave. She just hoped she wasn't too late and that Ewan and Elana were alright, though...

---

Erika lead the army all the way through the cavern to the crafted drill tunnel. She could see her Ewan and Elana fighting. Erika and Chic right next to her surged forth. "Seal the tunnel and Fight!" She bellowed, her command echoing in the tunnel but probably a bit drowned out by the rampage of foot falls from a charging army.

An opposing army from Mount Edge appeared to have gathered to make this a little more intense, it seemed. She expected a few but definitely not this.... Yet in spite of the danger, Erika charged anyway. She was kind of leading this, right? Besides backing down in front of Machamp like that wouldn't look good. The Psychic Pokemon looked surprised? Or prepared? That was the last thing Erika tried to thought before she suddenly found the lines of Pokemon around her clashing in battle!

Chic rounded forth and lead with an ineffective drop kick (double kick) to try and greet the face of a Kadabara who was in front of Erika. She had slowed to a stop since she couldn't really fight since, you know, she was an average human and not a powerful Pokemon. Chic tangled with the Kadabara on her own instinct, while Erika looked around and took stock of this battle.

They outnumbered their opponents, but Fighting types against Psychic types meant this was going to end badly for her side. Sure, the Mt Strength forces might want the glory of a whole fight but they had an objective. Seal the tunnel.

Erika pulled off, Chic acting like her general's bodyguard while the fighting all around intensified. She joined where Ewan, (Joshua maybe), and Elana had likely moved to in order to avoid being trampled. Erika slowed and exhaustively caught her breath, hands on her hips. "Whew... okay... seal the tunnel. Let's... do that. How do we do that?"

Erika stood tall and proud as best as she could. It was all she could really do at this point. She hadn't angered the King Machamp yet, so it seemed to have some positive effect. She even managed to get some support from the audience, which made this encouraging. The smile was definitely encouraging on that grizzled face, but Erika still had her doubts about herself, hidden internally as that Machamp casually approached her. Was she actually good enough?

Yes, yes she was.

That extended hand from any other might have made Erika hesitate in fear of being backstabbed, but this was the King of Fighters, an honorable titan in all of Isson, right?

She immediately reached out and tried to take that hand in what was likely a pactful shake. Erika kept her grip for a moment and reached around and grabbed Chic's wrist and pulled her in to make her cup the pair of them. "You're in this too, Chic. You're seeing the strongest and that's what you have to beat and I'll help you get there okay?" Erika had finally taken her eyes off of Machamp to focus in on Chic. She looked a bit awestruck and probably was lost in her idol was Erika's assumption. She always liked to tried to mimic strong Pokemon as a Torchic, and now she was seeing the strongest. It was a huge thing for her.

With that done and the pact sealed, Erika nodded withdrawing her hand. She kept Chic out to let her experience this with her. "Alright. Let's go save your mountain."

Erika's mother had coached her a lot in her childhood in the art of Pokemon battles. This wasn't a Pokemon battle but it was a battle of another nature. Some of it felt familiar to her as she enveloped herself in a tactical mind, moving pieces on the board. Of course there was a lot more moving pieces here than in a battle, but it was doable. In fact, Erika hardly thought about how difficult it was, only on how to maybe try it.

Ewan was the right choice to help Elana. He was diligent and mindful and would be the best choice to help Elana without doing anything reckless. That recklessness, however, was something Erika needed because Fighting Pokemon always seemed to love that boldness of it. You need not look further than some of their moves with dangerous recoils with misses. Plus a whole mountain dedicated to bold expression of strength? Yea, Erika was sure Joshua could find a way to do that. When it came to his question, Erika quietly considered it but she made up her mind at the start. She just wasn't sure if she needed help or not.

"Joshua, I think if you head off in this direction.." Erika paused in her stride and taking a longer look at the map. She traced her finger to a highlighted area of the cave referred to as "The Dojo". "..You'll end up in a cavern with a lot of training Pokemon. I'm sure you could try and convince the Pokemon Dojo leaders that their training or something is going to be ruined by that drilling brat. Hopefully you'll get some help because I'm going to try getting the strongest of them to help us."

Erika glanced at her map before looking down the cavern, straight ahead. From the very moment this plan formed in her head, she knew she had to go for the strongest of the strong. With Joshua that might weaken her position but alone, she'd at least appear brave, if a bit foolhardy. Of course Fighting Pokemon could be all for that reckless move.

"I'm going to try to convince the King of the Mountain." Erika clenched her hands, suppressing that feeling of fear. Even a Machop could seriously hurt you so whoever was on top of all these Pokemon could easily kill her if she made the wrong move. A scary thought.

--

With Joshua now on his own task, Erika made her way to the Throne Room. The map lead her right to it and she entered among the strongest Pokemon in this mountain. Her entrance was progressively noticed as she strode forward, approaching the throne. She had her eyes locked on the scarred Machamp seated on his throne. She couldn't bare the thought of all the other Pokemon looking at her even though she could see their focus shift to her in the peripheries of her eyes. A nerve that might have helped her case as she looked intently at scarred king as if she was here to challenge the greatest among them.

She stopped just short of the stairs leading up to the throne and glared up at the crowned Machamp, assuming none of the other Pokemon tried to stop her. She didn't think they would interrupt an intent challenger to their leader, at least that was the hope.

A few moments went by, the anticipation of this encounter building among all the other Pokemon watching no doubt. Finally Erika spoke firmly and proudly as best as she could. "I challenge you, strong and noble leader of Mount Strength." She paused just enough to let the stirrings among the audience cease. "I challenge you to do your duty to this mountain and all the Pokemon who work hard to be strong. Not long ago a boy tunneled his way from Mount Edge to the bottom of this Mountain, your kingdom. He did this not by strength, but by a machine. He's done all this and endangered your kingdom with all those Psychic Pokemon from Mount Edge potentially following. Psychic Pokemon who don't believe in using their physical strength and skill like the Pokemon in Mount Strength."

With the recap finished, Erika withdrew a Pokeball, her shaking hand suppressed by clenching tightly to the ball device. "Help me protect Mount Strength. In return, I will do my duty as a trainer." Erika released her Pokeball revealing Chic, the Combusken appearing at her side with a bit of stun and awe as she looked around the room filled with such strong Pokemon.

"This is Chic who, like me, wants nothing more than to prove herself above all others. She wants to be the strongest and even though she isn't now, she will be. I will train with her until she is and when she is ready, I will come back and we will give you." Erika pointed her free hand up at the scarred Machamp. "The toughest fight you have ever seen."

Erika tried to utter something else like asking if it was a deal or anything, but she slowly dropped her finger and stood waiting, a bit too scared to even do anything else.

The chase felt close so much so that Erika dove into a different length of tunnel. When the dust settled, Erika was relieved she wasn't going to get squished or, you know, minced by a giant drill. She picked herself up, waving a hand across her outfit, dusting herself off. She was a bit miffed but relieved that she and her friends were okay after that excitement. Tara even landed on her shoulder with a chattering of concern muttered, "Swaa~". Erika stroked the top of Tara's head as everyone came together.

It appears their well-being was quite the concern to the people who nearly ran all of them over. Erika frowned, quietly watching on as she considered the information before her. Elana and Ewan looked tense, but Joshua might have been in the same mind as her. Accidents happen, but it still would have been better for these people to apologize.

Wait? What's that machine for? Erika tried to decipher the information coming at her. A Kirlia... looking for something with only one in the whole mountain... !!!

He was going for her Dawn Stone! Gallade was a Pokemon she was very familiar with as her mother had one. It was only a small part she wanted a Pokemon that evolved via a Dawn Stone to emulate her mother a little. This twerp was going to try and take that stone. Erika was prepared to protest but something a little more pressing came to light. "Oh." Erika muttered as she realized why Elana was concerned about that big hole. Erika didn't know anything about Pokemon ecology, but it certainly sounded bad. The question was, could they find a way to seal it? They'd need a strong Pokemon... or many.

Returning Tara to her Pokeball and strapped it into her belt tightly. Elana was already running off, but there was another problem. That drill was going to come back. Erika turned to Ewan and Joshua who remained and finding quite a bit of authority she started planning. "Even if she seals the tunnel somehow, that drill is going to come back and make another hole. Ewan, please go with Elana and see what you can do to help. We will return. Joshua." Erika turned to him and gave a slight smirk. "You and I are going to get an army of help. Follow me."

With that Erika began to run off, her map out in her hand just in case. She needed to get to the higher levels. Joshua felt like the natural pick as he was a little more enthusiastic, which would definitely entice a bunch of bored looking Machokes and the like if the two of them can really sell the potential for a challenge.

"You and I are going to round up all the high level Pokemon we can and lead them back to the tunnel. We can seal that hole and stop that drill for good, too." Erika kept her face hidden, hiding the tense scowl on her face. She had her mother's wrath the moment someone pushed one too many buttons. That twerp will realize that soon.

The hunt was on. Erika was excited to see what they would uncover... even though she wasn't going to get to keep a lot of it. Sure enough, they found a lot of Shiny Stones before finally finding a Fire Stone. It was then that Erika internally thought it would be very depressing if they found every other stone before finding her precious Dawn Stone. But Elana was here and they were in good hands, right? Nothing could go wrong, in fact...

"Oh huh." Erika muttered as every felt like it was shaking. Tara fluttered nervously, sensing that was something was happening. "Maybe it is an earthquake? Like an actual one, not a Pokemon doing it." She offered as a potential explanation. Only a rather strong Pokemon could pull off an earthquake like this, but that was also possible. Maybe if there was a trainer down here...

The wall before her burst and revealed the answer. Erika yelped seeing something so big and unexpected appear and it was still coming towards her and her friends! "R-ruuuun!" Erika yelled hopefully managing to call over the sound of the heavy machinery working. She and Tara turned in a hurry and began to run away from the machine having definitely panicked. Erika would glance behind and make sure the others were okay though!

Erika had to do a double take at the reported funds in her account after she stepped out of the Berry Garden. All that money was gone in about an hour of spending which was quite tragic. No doubt her guide was going to cost her a fair bit, too, but at least she'll be able to earn more money?

Anyway, she didn't have to wait too long. She let her Pokemon out to stretch their legs and chill in the relaxing aura of this place. It made time go by quickly because her friends Joshua and Ewan emerged.

"Oh I'm glad!" Erika smiled watching them approach as she sat on a bench, turning away from what she was watching. Chic was in the middle showing Sno and Gibs how to kick. Their attempts to kick high went about as successful as you can imagine...

"Chic turned into my hero in her fight against Bellawe... Bellossom." Erika responded to Joshua and glanced over to Chic was finding it quite amusing to watch her teammates try to kick. She could only imagine how a Zubat managed the feat of carrying Joshua's challenge. Supersonics and Wing Attacks? Zubat had never registered on her radar of competitive Pokemon so she didn't know too much about them.

Ewan's subsequent arrival brought Erika out of her thought. Again she smiled, "Oh think nothing of it!" Her eyes sparkled at the mention of Hail. She wanted that but would reserve that for later because....

She received a different TM which was quite nice! "Thanks so much Ewan! I guess I should have played it safe and let Gibs stay out of danger. I lost sandstorm halfway through the challenge, and it took the rest of my team for that close win." She turned away and frowned, thinking about how she might do that battle differently. She didn't feel like there was honor in a lot of switching, but that was dumb because there were even moves about preserving stat changes in a switch. So why recklessly throw her team into situations when playing smart like Ewan could have been better. Something to note for the future. "I've got our guide coming here so we just have to wait a bit longer, I think." She would add before Joshua began her story. Of course. Confuse Ray would save you if you got lucky. Joshua seemed the lucky type.

Then Elana showed up. Erika jumped to her feet and was ready to give her greetings when Joshua stepped in. "Oh that's just Joshua..." She said quietly as Joshua's earnest introduction had pretty much taken all the focus. Then Elana walked around and right up to Erika who stiffened as she got very close. She was leaning so close... "Oh no, no. They are just my friends wanting to join us." Erika responded. Did Elana want it to be just the two of them? Her heart fluttered at the thought, and her stomach felt like she had butterfrees flying around. Surely this was just about business and the cost of guiding others and not something else... right?

And with that they carried on through route 4. Elana as the lead and Erika right behind her with her other friends likely following. on the way there, Erika would talk with the two about Archie and the battles they had. She'd even try to talk a bit about trying to strategize for each gym by building a balanced team. She was lacking a good Steel and Fairy type but with the evolutions she had, she could cover a lot with her Pokemon so far.

Anyway with Elana guiding them they reached Mt. Strength quickly. Once there, it appears there were some tricks already with the revelation that wild Pokemon liked to jump trainers. "Oh that does sound bad." Erika would admit thinking about she had actually considered letting Chic walk around to view the fighting types earlier. She'd obviously be targeted. So that meant she needed to find a lame looking Pokemon which felt mean. But if she did have to choose with something she didn't agree with...

Tara popped out of her ball with her fluffy cloud wings and splitting feather like hair thing. She wasn't ridiculous but maybe to some? Also a Flying type would mean that she could just fly away from any attempted fights and the Pokemon would recognize that... right? "Okay, I think Tara will be good for that."

Of course Elana knew what she was doing and also had Slurpuff out for another reason. The Dawn Stone and the prospect of finding Erika quite optimistic, although she wasn't sure if stones smelled? Maybe to a Slurpuff. "Oh okay, okay." Erika nodded hanging onto all of Elana's words. Then Elana hit with the proposition. Now depending on the circumstances, that could be crazy good for Elana, likely scoring a surplus of stones to pay her commission several times over. Erika should have objected, at the very least obtained a thunderstone and waterstone for her team evolutions. However... "Oh uh huh, you can take any other stone you find. That's fine!" Erika conceded immediately because Elana would be pleased and it was quite easy to have tunnel vision for that if you were a bit smitten. Poor Joshua and Ewan, though.

"Oh the map, yes." Erika dug into her pack and withdrew her map. She unfolded it and glanced around at the various locations. "It seems like the stones would be lower in the mountain like how it was in the Frozen Caverns so maybe there. But does Slurpuff smell anything or maybe you have a better idea, Elana?" And Joshua and Ewan. Though Erika seemed to forget them at the moment. But any direction was a good one as long as it seemed to be drawing them to a Dawn Stone's location!
