Renar Hagen

Quite the motley crew. By appearance alone, they were likely dangerous. The girl in the frilly dress most of all. Renar didn't know any of them by name or appearance, possibly by reputation from what Gerard and Fionn had said in the past, but such a getup only pointed to mage. Any good battlefield tactic demanded that mages be eliminated from the board first, given their ability to turn the tide of battle with but a single good spell. The others were a concern to get past, of course, but it depended on who managed to sucker-punch the other first.

But enough about planning to kill people the instant he met them. The captain seemed amenable to an alliance, though Renar doubted she would take adequate precautions in case of betrayal. Just because he was willing to work with them, doesn't mean he was going to trust that they were on the level. For that matter, the First and Youngest did speak sense.

"I also concur with Dame Tyaethe. For the sake of this brief alliance going smoothly, it would be in both our best interests if you answered honestly about what you were doing here." Renar said before walking off to the side, gripping Fionn's shoulder and starting to whisper in his ear. To an outsider, it would seem that he was trying to restrain the man from being more hostile. In reality...

"Let this go through. If the worst occurs, we'll have our blades at their backs first." He whispered as quietly as possible.

Salvator Rasch

"League systems?" Salvator replied to the Tarrhaidim as they made their way back towards their ride. "I've had to use a few in my time. Shouldn't be too hard to turn the artillery against the opfor as long as we have firing coordinates."

The team made good time, riding in the warform once more. Of course, that didn't take away from Rasch's growing irritation at the constantly-buzzing communicator. It would have been one thing if there was anything to be gained from it at the moment, but evidently, it hadn't been able to lock on to a signal for the entire damn ride. Void take him, that buzzing was more annoying than the artillery and aircraft all around them.

When Echo's warform stopped due to treacherous terrain, Salvator was the first one out, landing from the vehicle in a crouch as he surveyed the surrounding area.

"What the hell happened here?" He murmured to himself, starting to investigate the corpses. Whatever the predominant species on this battlefield was, either he wasn't familiar with it or their bodies were too mangled for him to make out with any degree of accuracy. On the bright side, something did stick out to him during his search of the bodies: a combat shotgun, and a decent amount of slugs to go with it. Salvator quickly mag-locked the shotgun to the back of his armor before pocketing the ammo. Considering they were going for a direct assault soon, he'd need the extra firepower. In the meantime...

His search was interrupted by the increased blinking of the communicator. Out of irritation, he jerked back to glare at the damn thing, only to notice the red light followed by a transmission. Metaphorical alarm bells began ringing in his mind. This was already a kill-box, and they'd just stepped into it. Fuck.

"Get to cover, now!" Salvator barked at the rest of the squad, already booking it behind one of the rubble piles. "Possible contact!"
Gonna express interest. I know the broad strokes of BattleTech lore, but not many of the specifics. Not too familiar with actually building mechs outside a few of the games, either.

That all said, if we're starting with shitcans, please let UrbanMechs be available.
@Darkmoon Angel About how many people are you hoping to get before starting? Think the month long interval between intcheck to OOC might've caused some people to lose interest or forget about it.

Kayliss Lambert

Damn. The doll's limbs were still functional enough to make a strike against her. Kayliss hissed in frustration, desperately twisting back to try to avoid its grasping arms. She wasn't going to make it before the slash connected-

The commander's thrust saved Kayliss, her strike slowing the doll enough to allow the assassin to whirl back and evade the doll's strike completely. Urden's continued assault pinned the doll in place and gave her time to recover, coming up in a crouch from her frantic evasion. Kayliss narrowed her eyes as she planned her attack, flipping her short sword and dagger around into reverse grips before leaping up into the air.

She came plunging down onto the pinned doll, this time aiming for a presumably lethal blow by thrusting the tips of her blades through the shoulder joints she'd already damaged. With any luck, Kayliss's blows would destroy the joints completely and sever the doll's arms from its body, neutering its threat near totally.
Sheet being worked on, got my character concepts hammered out, just need to sit down and write. ETA 1-3 days probably.
Might wind up with a custom navi, might not. Haven't decided yet.
Renar Hagen

As the outlying buildings held absolutely nothing, Renar simply sighed to himself in annoyance and bid farewell to Sir Steffen for the moment as the latter moved to join up with Lein. For his part, Renar hefted his poleaxe onto his shoulder and started trudging towards the interior of the main keep, intent on catching up with the others. If there was nothing to be found outside, it would be within.

When he'd nearly reached the gate, Dame Serenity came out with the new knight in tow. Literally, in fact. Renar raised an eyebrow beneath his full helm at the sight before realizing exactly why. It was likely the best move to make in this scenario, and he did acknowledge exactly why they had to coddle the mage that could perform mind magics, but the fact they needed to cozen anyone in the most elite order in Thaln was irritating. Serenity's actual report wasn't nearly as distressing.

"Is that so?" He drawled, sounding entirely unbothered by the depiction of the massacre within. "How curious. Would that some families in these times worked themselves up into such a frenzy. As for Sir Steffen, he'll be bringing up the rear shortly. He'd doubled back to retrieve Sir Lein from inspecting the outer walls. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go on ahead." With Serenity informed, Renar brushed past her and Amy, proceeding within...

...Only to find the knights within having a standoff with some spearwoman. With no context just yet, Renar decided to multitask, keeping an ear on the conversation while investigating the bodies for himself. He knelt down to inspect just a few corpses and realized that if anything, Serenity had been underselling the carnage. Still, even this didn't elicit any emotion from him aside from clinical detachment. Not because he'd seen worse during his career. Not because he was used to carnage. He simply didn't quite care for the fate of these faceless corpses outside of the potential ramifications of an entire defense fort massacred. With that done, he stood back up and faced the lone spearwoman, having gotten a small gist of what was going on. Whoever she was, Fionn was familiar with her. Mercenary, most likely. And obviously enough, she was at least tangentially involved with what had happened here. Still, if no one else was going to try to negotiate properly...

"Let's talk terms, then. We have a job to do, and cooperation gets it done faster. You obviously want something from us, so why don't we respect each other's time and get to the point?"

Kayliss Lambert

Again, Kayliss could not express enough just how much she hated cryptic mages at this moment. It was heartening to see at least one of her knives doing something to the primary doll, though she'd likely need to close to melee range to land a telling blow on it. The additional dolls rising to their feet was just adding insult to injury. That bitch just couldn't help herself but overcomplicate something needlessly complicated already. Despite her irritation, Kayliss barely twitched her lips as she drew her short sword and parrying dagger.

She was better suited to fighting single opponents in open battle, and was already engaged regardless. There was no point in her disengaging to help some of the others hold back the oncoming horde. Best to pinpoint weaknesses on the largest doll and bring it down as soon as possible. With that in mind, she followed the lead of Urden and Roger and dashed in after them.

As the mercenary and the griffin knight made their attacks, Kayliss juked around them and towards the back of the main doll. The Crownsblade pinpointed the two shoulder joints from the doll's back, moving in. Both of her blades flipped around point-first, and she drove them towards one shoulder each, aiming to impale both of its upper joints.
