Apologies to all writing partners both current & prospective. Been sick for two weeks straight (and have to go to work regardless). No energy. Can't think straight. Taking a hiatus. Sorry again.

Where's the personality? The flavor? the drama? The struggle? The humanity? The texture of the time and the place in which this conversation is happening? In a word: where's the story?

I appreciate that the mod in question was able to own up and admit a mistake, whereas I had assumed that "A week-long ban was too severe" would be the official excuse for why my ban was rescinded early.

Obviously I'm grateful that the ban was removed at all, too.

But @Nytem4re brings up an interesting point: if I was able to get away with my signature being forcibly altered/edited against my will, why was another user banned for what is effectively the same transgression? Furthermore, whereas that "no Discord drama" rule exists now, it did not exist at the time of that user's ban, so one could even argue that I deserve the stricter punishment.

And yes, I know it's claimed that j8cob did more to deserve a ban before that; that the offensive signature was a "last straw" of sorts. Although it's natural that under the "We don't discuss bans" rule, the public hasn't seen these reasons, apparently j8cob hasn't seen them either, and in fact has no idea what he did to build up this hay-bale in the first place.

It's just fishy overall, considering that shitposting and "trolling" are rather common here, and hardly grounds for a penal response.
:)

You should know if something food related is posted I will find it.

I love so many foods but I will show you something I made with my mom that egg lovers and pizza lovers can get behind.

is that a mothafuckin frittata, the Italian god-emperor of breakfast foods?
Feel free to critique anything I've written so far. After all, no matter how good we may think we are, we could all use some improvement.

I haven't RPed in a while, but I'll throw my weight behind this clause, too. Anything that someone exhumes from the depths of my profile is fair game. Alternatively I can send poetry.
P.S.

Curiously, as it interests me a great deal, what exactly do people want done/changed? What policies and all.

Tell them in Cyn's thread that I want an apology from Mahz.

If you think power is a benefit and not a responsibility,

That's how it's being treated right now, not how I want it to be treated. You're confusing prescriptive and descriptive ethics, which is, like, Logic 101, dude.

Curiously, as it interests me a great deal, what exactly do people want done/changed? What policies and all.

  • Mods do their jobs. (This one is harder for some than for others.)
  • Mods do their jobs in a prompt and timely fashion.
  • Mods do their jobs without bias, prejudice, or favoritism.
  • Mods do their jobs without whining about how hard it is and how little it pays. You volunteered your way into the position and you can volunteer your way out of it if actually fulfilling your obligations is, for any reason, too difficult.
  • Mods do all of the above with transparency and honesty.

In theory all this was already in the job description so I don't think I'd be asking for much.
@POOHEAD189 How is being able to kick/ban anyone you dislike, and getting away with it at no costs to yourself, not a blatant social benefit?

I was banned for (not) breaking a rule which doesn't even exist on this site. And we still haven't seen the proof of Nyt or J8cob's wrongdoing. In fact the mods cannot even deign to tell them what they did wrong in the first place, instead making up bullshit about how they "know what they did wrong."
Easy: cronyism. When a mod does something stupid and wrong (e.g. banning someone unjustly), the other mods' immediate kneejerk reaction is to assume they're justified, ignoring all facts and available evidence meanwhile. I'm one of the lucky ones who got his claim investigated by another mod, but most of the victims mentioned in these whistleblowing threads have not yet received that luxury. They haven't received their justice.

"Those screenshots" referring to the ones in Grimhildr's original thread, now found here. And if you sincerely believe they don't incriminate most of the mods then you're either blind or delusional.
We're here to clean up a mess when it's reported and help out users when they need something.

No privileges or benefits really exist.

@The Spectre Interesting how we're supposed to take J8cob and Nyt's versions of the story with a "large grain of salt," whereas the mods have consistently refused to give us their side of the story at all. Like, who are we supposed to believe when we're presented only one side of the debate, and the other side refuses to engage or respond altogether?

@AngelofOctober On the other hand there was an autistic/savant moderator on RSWiki who banned anyone he didn't like, for any reason he chose. And this isn't something you can cover up, since everyone can see the edit histories of the user and forum pages; so when it came to light that these people were banned unfairly, this mod hid behind his disorder(s) as an excuse. He got angry easily, he was tired and cranky, he didn't know what the other person was saying or why he was trying to be so "mean" to him...whatever the case, always an excuse. He was always the ill-perceived victim both of his own brain and of other people's cruelty, and his autism always shielded him from criticism, since he "couldn't help himself," in one way or another.

Eventually the site staff wised up and booted him from his position of power, but most of the damage was already done, irreversible.

"Making accommodations" sometimes crosses the line into blatant favoritism. Not to mention that if you're a moderator, nothing excuses you from the responsibilities of your post. If you're unfit for the task then you don't belong in that station, plain and simple, particularly when plenty of other users on the site are more competent and fair than you, and can easily be equipped to replace you and give the site a proper leader. Giving power to the less-capable as an act of mercy, or even pity, is just foolish.
