Current Teaching myself web development by trying to fix some BBCode bugs/features in the Guild is probably a bad idea. Oh, well.

If school were less hard, it'd be less interesting. I still want it to be less hard, though.

So I'm gonna ask a co gm, may I at least take control of the pacific theatre of the Japanese empire. It'll be played historically unless other nations interfere, then tactics will change accordingly.

Should I get permission, id invite anyone to play side characters in the various battles as I have one character for the Japanese and united states in the works and others on the drawing board.

Yes, go for it. Sorry I didn't respond earlier.
|Dynarsky Ship Workshops, lower Muon orbit, Khasi system

Master Designer Gene Dynarsky inserted the data-square into the meeting table's port. He spared a glance at the foreign design advisory teams. Eastwing had the infrastructure in place for this particular art piece, so it made sense to build the ship here in his workshops. Of the many final contestants who had vied for the contract, Gene had proved most flexible. The competition for the contract had been interesting - Eastwing completely changed the specs at the last moment to find out which designer was most flexible. Some of the less robust designers (Gene thought of Kwan, here) had insisted that the switch made the competition unfair and impossible. Gene simply adapted, and found that he could spontaneously grow his aesthetic from the new, sudden requirements.

His design - with no real input from the alien parties, yet - flashed to life above the table. It wasn't a large ship; it was something that could be completed within a few years. Contained within were carefully separated living quarters, a full gallery, an observation lounge, probe bay, bluespace drive, multichromatic laser weaponry, and the most beautifully colorful bridge he'd yet conceived. It was capable of atmospheric entry, if somewhat unweildy when doing so. Gene was particularly proud of how mechanized the design was. He'd incorporated movement into most parts of the exterior - the multichromatic lasers were hidden behind gracefully curving arms that would move to protect vital areas of the ship when it was firing. The drone bay was covered unless in use. More arms could line up along the lasers' path, allowing for post-firing modulation of targeting and beam intensity through a holographic lensing effect. And the entire ship seemed to come alive when it bluespace transited, the various armatures whirling around madly. Such action served to distribute heat evenly along the hull.

"This is my rough draft," he said. "I expect you'll have some changes to recommend and requirements to add, but I think the aesthetics are there. It's a definite design direction. What do you think?"
Haha, no worries, mrambo90. I was more amused by it than anything else.

Right now, I think we're just waiting on Wily Vereb and then we can get started. I was going to wait two more days for more applications, but if we don't get more applications before Wily Vereb finishes, I think we should just start.

I really hope to hear from queen raidne regarding Japan. I want to get to writing soooo bad.

Drat, I missed something. What's this about Japan?
+Ship Name: USS Tulsa, ZRCV 1
+Affiliated Navy: United States of America
+Allegiance: Allied
+Captain: Cdr. Roy E. Owens
+Current Location: Atlantic Ocean, 400 mi. WNW of Glasgow
+Description:

USS Tulsa is a 900 ft. long flying aircraft carrier with a gas capacity of 10,000,000 cubic feet of helium. Though ZRCV's were originally thought of scouting craft, they soon found their niche as an anti-submarine warfare platform, ideal for escorting trans-Atlantic shipping. They have a chief advantage of being able to stay on station, hunting and tracking a submarine for up to a week - far longer than the submarine has air, or battery charge.

The ship is painted with the upper third silver and the bottom two thirds a matte gray for camouflage. As if anyone couldn't see a 900 foot long dirigible floating at 3000 feet. There are three national insignia - one beneath the envelope in front of the control car, and one on either side of the envelope in front of the fins. The name "USS Tulsa" is on both sides near the horizontal fins; "US Navy" is in large letters near the midsection.

USS Tulsa has a trapeze hook system to carry up to 10 aircraft.
+Aircraft:
3x ZOF Seafin - single seat high wing reconnaissance type. One .30 cal machine gun. Combat radius 200 miles on internal fuel, 300 with auxiliary fuel tank. Standard observation/reconnaissance plane on all airships 1939-1945. No conventional landing gear. Designed by BuAer and built by Grumman.

2x FAZ Shrike - single seat, single engine defensive fighter. Mid-wing monoplane based broadly on the Brewster F2A, but armed with only two .03 cal. machine guns. 150 mile radius on internal fuel. Light construction and elimination of retractable landing gear gave the Shrike significantly greater speed and maneuverability than the standard F2A. Usually operated without normal landing gear, but could be fitted with simple stick landing gear for conventional landings and takeoffs when necessary. Designed and built by Brewster. Relatively few built and rarely carried by airships operating in the Atlantic.

3x PBFZ Harrier - small, twin engine 2 seat ASW floatplane, based loosely on the Grumman Goose. Capable of carrying up to 4 depth bombs, surface search radar and active/passive sonar buoys. 200 mile combat radius. With a wingspan of 49 feet, the largest aircraft routinely carried by the ZRCV ships. No defensive armament. Optimized for airship operation by BuAer, built by Grumman.

+Armament: Aside from aircraft, USS Tulsa has nine .50 cal machine guns - two facing forward, one in the bow and the other on the lower fin; two on either side along the lateral keels; and three mounted dorsally along the top of the envelope. Very few expect them to ever be more than a token defense.
+Crew: 80
@ClocktowerEchos@Mihndar So I decided on both of you to be Co-GM. You're hereby authorized to officially critique and accept applications. If you disagree with each other on something, I'll settle it.

Concerning NPC's: I hadn't originally intended for any one person to control them (especially not me, because I can't know enough about each nation to do them all justice). That way, too, if someone disappears, then we can keep going. However, I suppose it does make sense if people want to take "lead" on particular NPC's, and have final say over whether their actions have been reasonable.

@Willy Vereb Sure, if you want your nation to know about the world they just teleported into, I'll allow it within reason. But you still have the option of suddenly having no idea about where you are (which I find more interesting/fun), or rather, no idea about what happened to the rest of the world.

Looks good so far.

@Mihndar Okay then. Accepted again? Re-Accepted?

@Iluvatar Accepted! And I look forward to seeing how the only two current real nations (USA and UK) make out.

@mrambo90 Ooh, China! Wait, why is everything strike-

@SgtEasy Accepted!

@Willy Vereb (2) Still fine, yes.

@Thang Oh dear. Accepted! Good luck with all of those at once! I'll make a note on the first post that you'd be willing to give up control of axis nations to interested players, but is there anywhere in particular that you want to hold onto?

Your force deployment doesn't have to have numbers, although they're helpful, so rough estimates are fine.

Oh, and Raidne, I just realised the map shows Ceylon/Sri Lanka as a non-claimed Allied power. It was part of the British Empire at this time.

Good catch! I'll fix it in the next version of the map.

@mrambo90 (2) Accepted! Mmmm. Anyone else have a sense of deja-vu? Weird.

I'll work on updating the map.
Hello, page 5. :P
Let me get caught up.

Edit: Oh no, a doublepost! Drat.
I'm still thinking about who to choose for Co-GM.

@MonkeyPants Accepted!

@ClocktowerEchos Give me a location, even if it's just drawing on the map in MSPaint. But, you're accepted in principle.

@Willy Vereb You said the word "jet" and I got worried, but if I recall correctly, what few jets existed in the late war were mostly too fast to be useful anyway. Since you mention it, what are the ramifications of developing a jet engine in the 30's, anyway? I'm curious.

@SgtEasy - total gut feelings with no research behind it:

-Persian Empire: I'm also entertained by a stronger player in the middle east, but I think you might run into territory conflicts with the UK?
-Assyrian Empire: Unless it's a "modern" revival, you'd have to have a lot of butterflies in whichever timeline to make this work.
-Byzantine Empire: it'd be interesting to see Italy replaced with someone more competent, but it'd be difficult to justify its existence
-Aztec Empire: Decent, interested to see the timeline they came from, also gives USA something to do in its own backyard
-US of Thai-Phil-Malay: I like this from an RP perspective, because of how much Japan you'd have to deal with all the time
-Dutch Empire: Part of me's intrigued by the Dutch East India Company, and that part is more intrigued than the idea of the Dutch Empire itself. But that doesn't really mean much as to whether or not you should choose them.
-Australia: A safe and reasonable choice. Probably the most viable and easiest to make.
Wow, that was a lot of applications in a short time. Neat! I like interest! <3
...still looking for a Co-GM, here...

I'm working on updating the World Map to reflect the accepted nations. It'll be a little bit, mostly because I'm indecisive and can't decide on distinct colors for everyone.

@Iluvatar "Military" is meant as a description of your military advantages and disadvantages, so we have a feel for your military. For example, you could say that the United States' chief advantage was means of production. The Sherman was rarely the best tank on the field, but there were always more Shermans ready to replace the broken ones. And while their Navy had very few battleships due to Pearl Harbor, they still had some carriers (which was nice, since carriers essentially replaced battleships as a fleet's capital ship).

This is so both you and the other players have a reasonable guess on who would win a particular engagement.

Looks good otherwise. I honestly prefer more flavor text, but, A) how much flavor text can you add for a real life nation?, and B) I didn't ask for any.

@Willy Vereb ...you gave me its actual material properties? <3 <3 <3 *breaks out her materials science book*
Anyway, yes. They're in. You've put thought into them; they aren't game-breaking; they have disadvantages and advantages; yes. Just yes.

@Nerevarine Accepted!

@Deaddlife Looks good; Accepted!

@Voltus_Ventus You should talk to @Iluvatar, since Newfoundland is one of the areas (he?) wanted to keep.Edit: You are on top of it, I see.

@Mihndar Ooh, USSR without psycho-purges. I like it. Accepted!

If you're waiting on me for something and I don't have you on that list, then I accidentally missed you, and don't know about it. You should correct that by telling me.

†That's the first smiley I've ever used on this site.
I've updated the first post with the various claims.

By the way, I plan on playing as an American ZRCV (that's a carrier-zeppelin) on ASW escort duty in the Atlantic, based off of the alternate timeline found here. I may pick up one of the major powers (e.g. Italy) if nobody else does.

@Willy VerebI'm okay with elf-likes. Evolution followed some weird path millions of years ago - okay, that's plausible. Since I've already established precedent with Sakurite, I'm going to say a no on Mithril, unless it's just a fancy/confused name for a real-life alloy. I also find useless ritual aka alchemy hilarious and highly encourage it.* Again, going off of precedent - if alternate plausible evolutionary paths are okay, then I'll also allow griffins. ...if only for the hilarity of a BF-109 engaging Griffin riders.

*Hitler's going to have a field day with it.
@ClocktowerEchos Briefly (briefly) glancing at it, I've got a problem with the Sakurite. If it's not an element that can be found on (our) Earth, I don't like it. Other than that, I'm okay with the concept. But I haven't really analyzed it much - especially the military section.
