"Ok, so what can you do?"

"well...i can stun some other digimon."

"That's all?"

"i'd have to digivolve for anything else."

"Ok, what could you do-"

"i don't think i'll be back up to that form for a while."

"...have you ever heard how utterly useless you are?"

"yes. have you?"

"Anyways, so. When you digivolve. What can you do?"

"it's been a while..."

"What, you don't remember?"

"just give me a second, will ya? ...ok, i can shoot these gears that can cause damage or insanity-"

"I don't think I'll be able to see a difference if everyone's like you."

"good thing you don't need to be smart to be a tamer."

"Cute. Is that all?"

"well, i can also crush enemies between my own gears."

"Really? That actually sounds pro- wait. How big will you be?"

"um...add a few decimeters?"

"..."

"you know, i don't think hitting your head against that notebook's gonna help me get any bigger."

Classes were over for the day. Fuyuki didn't mind that, no. He didn't mind the chance to spend some alone time with Yuu either; even if 90 percent of everything they said went well over his head, he still liked hanging out with them. The heavy books that had broken Yuu's bag and that today's time was just helping Yuu get home to finish some project on 'excitotoxity inducement in the human brain' (might as well said it in English for all Fuyuki understood), he did mind that a bit. If Yuu picked up on it, they didn't say anything, and Fuyuki preferred that - he was never good at trying to parse Yuu's attempts at insults and Hoshiko was sick today. Yuu was instead attempting to educate him on the role of glutamate (wasn't that in some of those freeze-dried dinners?) in the brain, and Fuyuki made sounds of assent on the rare occasion Yuu stopped talking - he would've nodded were it not for all the books.

Finally, the two reached the apartment Yuu lived in. Why Yuu seemed to live so far away from their university was confusing, though it did mean at the least, they tended to hang around with Fuyuki and Hoshiko after classes and help study whenever they were ahead on their projects. Fuyuki certainly wasn't going to complain about that.

"You need help carrying these in?" He shifted the books - and briefly staggered as one threatened to slide off. Yuu grabbed it before it fell.

"I do not believe so. The lift is working." They began taking the books from Fuyuki's arms - Fuyuki helped them finish, now feeling the soreness shoot through his arms. "Do accept my gratitude for your assistance."

"Not a problem. Good luck with the psych stuff." He paused. "Can you actually open the door?" Yuu looked at the handle and tried to shift the books to open the door. This time, Fuyuki caught the sliding books.

"...could you accompany for a few moments more?"

"Sure!"

It was a mercifully brief trip to Yuu's apartment, holding the books in his aching arms until Yuu unlocked their door and dismissed Fuyuki for the day. He smiled and waved as he took the lift back down, trying to ignore how much his arms hurt and wondering how Yuu had carried the books all day, much less attended classes. Then again, a lot of things about Yuu were best left unquestioned. Besides, he had to get home soon, back in the other direction. Tonight was a kendo class after all, and he needed to drop off the day's notes at Hoshiko's place. He rounded the street corner, in too much of a rush to keep from colliding with the girl on the other side.
