Current No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.

Arguing over petty details at times of dimensional emergency was a familiar wizardly trait.

A wizard never had friends, at least not friends who were wizards. It needed a different word. Ah yes, that was it. Enemies. But a very different class of enemies. Gentlemen.

Name: Ulemi
Race: Dunmer
Gender: Female
Age: 63

Appearance:

While being muscular and tough, Ulemi is a bit shorter than the average Dunmer. Her body is wiry and hasn’t got many feminine features. She has grey skin and red eyes like the rest of her kind, and her hair, which she keeps short, is black as coal. Her body is covered in tattoos of the old Morrowindian fashion, her favorite one being the moon-and-star of Azura on the left side of her chest, right above the heart. Covering equally much of her body are the scars she has acquired throughout her life, mementos of battles won and lost. Ever being the icon of a proud Dunmer, Ulemi carries herself with a straight back and her chin held high.

When not in her armor, Ulemi prefers to dress as simply as possible. She wears unembroidered linen clothes while indoors and puts on a fur jacket, boots and gloves while outdoors to protect her from the cold. Jewelry is out of the question; her tattoos and scars are decoration enough to her.

Personality: Ulemi is a typical introvert. She is generally quiet and keeps to herself unless others confront her, and even then she limits social interaction to a minimum. Crowds of people exhaust her, and she has never understood the importance of small talk. The silence and tranquility of Skyrim suits her perfectly, although she in controversial in that she loves the chaos and intensity of combat. Ulemi respects people who are serious and honorable, while despising those who lie and cheat. People who try to defuse situations with jokes really grind her gears. The strict old fashioned upbringing her mother gave her can be seriously disadvantageous to her in social situations as it often leads to her saying or doing things that upset people around her. In stressed situations like combat she keeps her head clear and focuses on the task at hand. She has never been a team player and functions best on her own, always trying to be self-sufficient and independent of others.

Sometime in her youth while reading about her homeland and its history, Ulemi somehow got the idea that she was a descendent of the Nerevarine, the great Dunmer hero of legend. Because of this she believes she has a greater responsibility and destiny than most and acts accordingly. Carrying such a burden on her shoulders have rendered her tired and sometimes depressed as she believes she isn’t doing enough to do justice to her impressive lineage.

One of Ulemis most favorite pastimes is singing. She grew up with stories of the former glory of her people and likes to sing of them once in a while. This is very embarrassing to her though, as she thinks her voice isn’t good enough, so she only ever sings when she thinks no one can hear her.

Ulemi can be very disdainful toward Khajiit and Argonians. She was told from a very early age that both those species were below her and can’t quite look past that even though she sees the flaw in this reasoning every day. She is especially rude to Argonians as she blames them for the fall of her people due to their invasion of the old homeland.

Background: As most Dunmer native to Skyrim, Ulemi was born in the Grey quarter in the city of Windhelm. She was raised by her mother and never knew her father, who her mother never spoke of. The times being what they were at the time with the racism of the Nords under the rule of the “Bear of Eastmarch”, it wasn’t easy growing up as a proud dark elf. Ulemi got beat up a lot by older, stronger kids and was always involved in trouble of some kind. Her mother never scolded her for this, however, but rather urged her daughter on telling her to always stand up for herself against those who would try to oppress her.

Having been a master-at-arms for House Redoran in the old homeland, Ulemis mother taught her daughter well in the ways of Dunmer combat. Her childhood and young adult years mostly consisted of training, sparring and brawling, forging her into the warrior she would one day become. The training was rigorous and very hard, and whenever she failed to live up to her mother’s expectations Ulemi was beat severely and forced to perform some demeaning kind of labor as punishment. She was also taught about the former glory of her people not only by her mother but by the Dunmer community of Windhelm as a whole, instilling in her an inner fire to make it so once more. Her favorite stories were those of the Nerevarine, mightiest of all warriors, who single handedly defeated the dreaded warlock Dagoth Ur and his minions and cast down the three false gods of the Temple. At some point Ulemi for some reason started to suspect that the reason for her mother being so secretive about her father was that he actually was the Nerevarine, and that her mother wouldn’t speak of this because of the shameful position they were currently in. Ulemi never confronted her mother with this, and thus the idea grew and festered in her head until it became an irrevocable fact. Why else was she being taught of the greatness of her people when they currently were no more than rats in the gutters of the Nords? Why had her mother trained her so fiercely in the art of war if not to prepare her for her destiny? It was all crystal clear to Ulemi: she was the One.

At the age of thirty Ulemi was fed up with living in poverty and disgrace and signed up with a band of mercenaries headed out of Eastmarch. It was high time she saw more of the world and learned to take care of herself. The following years were hard and put Ulemi in many dangerous situations, some of which she barely escaped from with her life intact. The already hardened young Dunmer became a veteran warrior of more than a hundred fights and got the scars to prove it. The money she earned was always sent to her brethren in the Grey quarter as she never had any need for it herself. She rose to the position of second-in-command, and eventually became the leader of the band when her predecessor died of old age.

Then began the war, and soon after that, the dragon crisis. Ulemi quickly realized the threat of the dragons and returned home to Windhelm to protect her kin. Her mercenary company, renown throughout Skyrim, was employed in the service of the city and sent out to defend the outlying regions. During this time her mother caught a sudden fever and died in her sleep while Ulemi was out in the wilderness near Ivarstead tracking the movements of a dragon that had been harassing travelers on the road to the east. When she learned what had happened she immediately left the company and returned home for the funeral. Bad news seldom comes alone, however, and Ulemi got word that in her absence her company had been attacked and destroyed by the dragon they had been tracking. Having been deprived of both family and friends, Ulemi took to the bottle and spent some time in her old home.

One night she had a vision. Azura came to her in her sleep and scolded her for her weakness. She spoke of the virtues of the Dunmer and of Ulemis great responsibility and destiny. She could not waste her days like this. She had to make a difference. As the last descendant of the Nerevarine, she had to right this wrong. Ulemi awoke the following morning with a fire burning in her heart. She would gather a new band of heroes from all across the land, and together they would bring down the plague of the dragons. She started spreading the rumor that an expedition to High Hrothgar was being planned, and that all able and brave men and women should join up. One by one they came until one day the lot of them stood at the foot of the great mountain, ready to begin climbing the seven thousand steps to learn of the Voice from the Greybeards.

Our story takes place in Skyrim during the stormcloak rebellion of 4E 201. The stormcloaks managed to take Whiterun during the siege of the city, but at great cost, causing the struggle to enter a stalemate.

Meanwhile, both Alduin and the dragonborn have disappeared, the rumor being that they killed each other while battling in Sovngarde. There are still many dragons about though, and large forces of draugr are reported to be amassing at some of the larger barrows throughout the land.

Since neither hero, stormcloaks nor legion has done anything about the rising threat, a few individuals have taken it upon themselves to shoulder the burden. They are adventurers from all around Skyrim come together for one reason only: to stop the dragons.

Our journey begins at the foot of the seven thousand steps to High Hrothgar, the temple of the Greybeards. The heroes have decided to seek out the advice of the old scholars since they know more than most about the Thu’um, the greatest weapon of the dragons.

In this game we will play as heroes in an alternative Tamriel, where the dragonborn never returned from Sovngarde to save Skyrim. Your character will be part of a group of extraordinary people and will travel the width and breadth of the land in search of a way to stop the dragon menace once and for all. Together we will explore new places and learn old secrets in the mysterious land of the Nords.

Your hero will be a powerful person capable of awesome feats, but it won’t be godlike. The heroes are going to need to work together to succeed in their mission, as an attempt at soloing the dragon threat would only buy you an early death.

Below is the character sheet you need to fill out before you can begin playing. Submit the character in the thread and wait for acceptance before posting in the IC.

While I enjoy well-written characters with depth, you don’t have to write a novel about yours. A few paragraphs about each subject in the sheet will suffice.

Character Sheet
Name: (Character name and nickname, if any)
Race: (Character race)
Gender: (Female/Male)
Age: (Character age)
Appearance: (description required, + for Skyrim pic!)
Personality: (What floats your characters boat? What grinds its gears? What’s it like in social or stressed situations?)
Background: (Where was your character born? How was it raised? How and from whom did it learn its skills? What did it do before the war and the dragon crisis? What has it been doing since? Does your character have any family or friends in Skyrim? Be creative!)

Skills
In order to measure your characters strengths, we will use the skills of Skyrim in a metaphorical sense. On novice level your character knows how to perform the skill but isn’t very good at it. On apprentice level your character has basic knowledge and knows one or two tricks. On adept level your character is skilled and knows how to handle itself even in difficult situations. On expert level your character is better than most and knows of many useful maneuvers and tricks. On master level your character knows pretty much all there is to the skill and ranks as one of the best people in the land at it.

You may choose one expert skill, two adept skills and three apprentice skills. Additional high level skills can be bought by selling skills at lower levels (which will be degraded to novice level). To buy an adept level skill, you must sell two apprentice level skills. To buy an expert level skill, you must sell two adept level skills. To buy a master level skill, you must sell two expert level skills. Novice level skills can’t be sold. An example: In order to buy a master level skill, you must first buy an additional expert level skill by selling two adept level skills, and then sell the expert level skills. You will then have one master level skill and three apprentice level skills instead of the normal setup.

Vampirism and Lycanthropy
Your character can be a werewolf or a vampire. Know that while they are stronger in some situations, both these afflictions have serious downsides.

Vampires don’t need food or sleep, can’t get infected by diseases and can’t die of old age. They are also slightly stronger and more agile than mortals. Their wounds will only heal if they drink the blood of humanoids, and their skin will start to roast and eventually burn if caught in direct sunlight.

Werewolves can transform themselves into large humanoid wolves if they want to. While in beast shape the werewolves are immensely strong and tough, but the transformation ends as soon as their blood frenzy fades. When the transformation ends the werewolf must rest for a couple of hours because of the physical strain. Werewolves are allergic to silver and will get sick by merely touching it.

Being discovered as either vampire or werewolf is extremely dangerous as both are considered as plagues by normal people, who will try to destroy them if they believe they can.

Equipment
Your characters may have any kind of equipment you want, within reason. Forget the expensive and rare materials. Don’t even mention artifacts. Common stuff like iron, steel, leather, fur, and maybe even elven or dwarven gear is acceptable. The higher level stuff will have to be earned in the course of the game.
With all that said and done, your character is ready and awaiting acceptance!

I’ll answer questions and comments to the best of my ability.

Looking forward to playing with you!
I don't think this game will get off the ground, so I'm giving it up. See you in the next game!
