They were nutcases, but they were his nutcases. There were no other people that he would trust to put his life more than these absolute weirdos.

Dirk was always appreciated for his down to earth nature though it was incredible how a man could be an absolute unit and somehow have no presence, even outside of missions. There were too many times when he would just pop out of nowhere and give Mathias the fright of his life.

Emma's bubbly nature definitely brought a patch of color in this squad. It was also appreciated when she allowed him to pet her not-dog.

Bel was not exactly what Mathias had expected when he heard that the man was from a House. He expected him to be uptight, regal, and really just a snob, but Bel had a mouth that would make his father blush.

Rafael was an odd one. Always with a hood and cloak, the sniper was definitely the most mysterious of the group, but his skills and abilities were greatly valued.

And then there were their missing fifth member, Jenna. She had been gone for years and no one was really sure what happened to her, but her disappearance hit Mathias particularly hard. They always left a chair out for her, if only out of a symbolic gesture of remembrance for their missing comrade.

There was no need for questions, great. They could get this job on a roll then.

"Dirk, it will hold, like it has every time before. Relax," Mathias said as he clipped his seatbelt. It was all routine at this point; sit tight and wait for the mysterious portal to open and drive through while something akin to indigestion twisted in his stomach for a split second followed by a bang like they just drove into a pothole. If it were not for the fact that he was on a mission, he could have slept through the entire thing like nothing happened. Once again, they were back in the Dark City.

Mathias stepped out of the vehicle and took in his surroundings. The Dark City already felt like a mockery of reality, but this was another thing entirely. He could feel eyes looking at him from faces that were not there in buildings twisted and malformed. The perspective of these buildings was off, their angles and size warped in ways that were visually impossible like the loose information in the brain that interprets a building in a dream. He really hoped that the feeling of being watched was just unfounded paranoia.

His attention fell upon Emma letting her unease known. "Well, it is an election year." It was an attempt to bring levity to a situation, but that was foiled by the sound of a poorly timed howl off in the distance.

"Rafael, do you have any idea where that came from?"
Okay, can finally get started on my post
@samreaper

Well, fortune favored the bold and Ace was certainly not a bold bird. However, as to the rules of the game the Torchic could not disobey its trainer as the fire bird was still within the level cap, so the poor thing rushed towards the green murder lizard that was already dashing towards it screaming in what some would mistake as a war cry. It was a split second and in that second it would've seemed that Ace would've been too late; the Grovyle was already looming over it about to tackle the bird into the ground when Ace erupt in flames and collided with its opponent. Ace flew into the air from the force of the attack, tumbling along the ground to Tristan's feet. It suffered from a hard hit, but what of the Grovyle?

Looking up, Tristan would see that the Grovyle had fallen on its knee shaking. It glared at Tristan as it tried to force itself up back to its feet, but repeatedly kept falling to its knee. For the first time in Tristan's life, he had seen something with an absolute will to not give up until the bitter end. This was a creature with determination and drive that he himself never had before in his life and yet even with all of that its own body failed it.

"That's enough Grovyle. You have fought well." Ramos said with a kind smile. The Grovyle reluctantly nodded before it finally collapsed onto the ground.

Louis raised a handkerchief towards Tristan and Ace, shouting "Grovyle is no longer able to battle! Ace wins! The winner of this battle is Tristan!"

Ace is now level 15! Ace has learned Detect! Ace had learned Sand Attack! Ace does not have enough slots to learn Sand Attack. Would you like to forget a move?

There was a polite hand of applause from the staff that were watching the match on their break. Some even gave Tristan some shouts of encouragement, telling him that he did a good job. Louis glanced around with a scowl and shouted, "Get back to work all of you! We do not have time to waste!"

Ramos approached Tristan with a with smile. For Tristan this was contradictory to his world view. There was nothing to be happy about losing and yet, there was the contradiction standing face to face with him. "Do you feel better now, Tristan?" It was an odd question, but Tristan began to realize that it really was never about the Gracedia Flower. This was about an older, much more experienced trainer and worldly person helping an insecure, inexperienced trainer caught in his own anxiety with their new role.

@Joshua Tamashii

And thus began the medium's first ever battle!

Well, there were no rules that Pokemon that can float naturally couldn't try to float too high, so the two ghosts simply did. However, they were maneuvering the air while trying to avoid poison stings hurtling at them and luckily, they just whizzed past them. Once in range, they shouted at the targeted Spinarak which someone caused damage to them. The one that they focused on flinched and was completely unable to stop the incoming globs of mud flying towards hitting it for admittingly mediocre damage though its vision was completely obscured the by the mud caked around its eyes.

The three other Spinarak, including the ghost-type one, shot sticky strings of webbing at Yamask, the Mimikyu, and the Golett to try and restrain them.

How does Amelia react?

@Zarkun

And the crowd watched in both amazement and horror at the sight of the burger just slowly being chunked away by this skinny man with blue hair, but by God he did it. At the end of it all, there was nothing left. There was no burger, no fries, not a crumb left to act as evidence that there was even a burger to begin with except for how extended his stomach was. Jason had never felt so full before in his life. Even though he ate it with ease, he still ate four pounds of meat and that is not considering every other aspect of the meal.

When asked about the money, the cook's wife look at him starstruck before she came back to her senses. "Uh, yeah it's yours, kid." She walked over and grabbed the jar from behind the counter before she gingerly handed it to him.

Jason earned 10,000P!

Jason felt his sleeve being tugged. He turned to look at the Chansey that was holding a pink egg towards him. "Chansey chansey chan chan chasey!" Apparently it was so moved by Jason eating that burger with such ease and saw his indomitable spirit as a trainer. She wanted to give him her egg since he seemed like a strong trainer. Weird logic, but hey, he rolled the 20 so he got the secret prize.

Jason received an egg!
Eggs count as items in this game and will be left in the bag.

But life was funny. At times you roll a twenty and then you roll a one. As soon as Jason walked out of the restaurant, he felt the food was going to violently leave his body and had to search for the nearest trashcan to unload himself.

The sight of a burger will now cause Jason to become nauseas, but 10k and an egg is still 10k and an egg.

So, now what?

Connected Areas
Starbor Forest. A forest filled with ungodly huge trees and many secrets.
Lake Charity. A massive body of water. Used to travel between Starbor Village, Valstille City, and Florasong Town.
Blue Lichen Cave. South of Starbor Village.

@CitrusArms

The Zoroark dryly laughed. "And yet you feel compelled, just as my master was before and just as Aria. Perhaps that forest is cursed." It stood back up, its figure looming over Stella though she tried to crouch as if to make sure to not tower over Stella threateningly. She smiled at her. It was worn and fanged, but friendly, nonetheless. "Forgive me, I suppose asking advice from you, a child, was unfair. It wasn't the answer I wanted, but perhaps it was the one I needed to hear."

She turned her gaze to a portrait of the family, her gaze tired with feelings that were too complex for an outsider like Stella to surmise, except she could tell there was a bittersweetness to it. A longing, perhaps someone looking for understanding. "They all would've hated it, what I've been doing. A forced penance for what I could not prevent, isolating myself in a home that no one walks in anymore, but this is my home, and they were my family. Someone has to remember them or else it's not like they existed at all."

Her gaze focused upon the strange egg upon Stella's lap. "The egg is yours. I know that I cannot defend it, not really. I know that this is no place to nurture it but know this young miss. That egg is final wish of Aria Eberg. She desperately wished to keep it hidden. To what end I do not know except that I know that trouble will follow you."

Stella acquired the Strange Egg!

Then a smile curled at the corners of her mouth. "Though perhaps this is exactly the day I've been waiting for. I have one more task for you, if you can indulge a selfish old Pokemon for a moment." The Zoroark stepped towards her, its claws clacked against the wood flooring. "If you are drawn to the Illusive Woods, then please uncover its mysteries so I can at least understand why things happened the way they did."

Her claw fingers rummaged around her fur until she pulled out a small red jewel in the shape of star. "Regardless of whether you accept or not, this does not affect your reward for what you did for me. I am of my word."

Stella acquired a Star Piece!

What does Stella do?
I need to post for my rp first. Will probably have something up for this in like a day and a half?

@PlatinumSkink

Once again, Basil looked at whatever the Gothita drew. He squinted his eyes to try and figure out what exactly it was that she drew. There was a big 'X' over what looked like what he assumed to be her attacking someone. Was she saying that she won't attack people? "Of course I'm not going to ask you to hurt someone. That goes without saying."

Where in the world did she get such an idea? What exactly did those people ask her to do. Those were questions for another time. Instead, he had a much more pertinent one.

"Well, I have one more question. I can't just keep calling you Gothita. Would you like a name? Personally, you look like a Stella or would you perhaps like a different name?" He asked the little psychic type with a gentle smile.
Alrighty then.
"Right, thanks Nina."

Mathias responded politely, yet disinterestedly. As much as he wanted to go off and search for The Mist in a Rambo-esque fashion, duty called him, and he was not going to ignore it even if it meant letting that man slip through his fingers.

He puffed the last bit of smoke from his cigarette and then put it out against one of the concrete pillars, standing up from one of the cargo crates that he was sitting on. The picture was neatly folded and slid into the back pocket of his pants. His boots echoed amid the low electrical hum of as he walked across the warehouse, his thoughts focused only on that damned photo of The Mist. That damned smug smile was branded into his brain, as if he knew that Mathias was going to look at it and flashed his best smile just to taunt him knowing that he was just out of arms reach once again.

Get your head in the game.

The door faced him and with a deep breath, Mathias pushed it open. Mechanical whirring of magic touched machinery filled his ears and waiting there around a table was the rest of the crew. "Evening everyone, my apologies for the delay. I see everyone is present." He walked over to an unfolded white screen and grabbed a remote sitting on the table to turn on a projector sitting on top. The projector illuminated the screen with the picture of machines.

"As you know, we are tasked to delivering equipment to the Dark City to investigate the ever-growing thunder phenomenon. That machinery will analyze the current environment of the collective consciousness, and we report our findings to the Bluegate DSC branch." He explained with a level of authority as someone who had been through this scenario dozens and dozens of times and had as much enthusiasm as someone who stood up in that same exact spot dozens and dozens of times.

"We will be transporting the machinery in this." He clicked the remote and the image of a black truck with a shipping container attached to it. "Armor plated and reinforced by enough reinforcement craft inscribed into it to be nigh impenetrable. Our best driver will be at the wheel while the rest of us will protect the cargo."

With another click of the remote, the screen changed to an image of the readings that they had been receiving through those seismography machines. "Our destination will be where the highest concentration of these disturbances is located. Once we arrive, we'll setup the equipment and guard it until it gathers enough data to be analyzed."

And then there was another click of the remote. The squad were being shown a top-down map of the Dark City with various routes marked down. "We have our route thanks to the reconnaissance, but as you know expect it to never be a hundred percent correct given the nature of the Dark City. Each and one of you should have packets detailing the route for your own personal review."

His eyes glanced at each individual in the room, knowing that each and one of them was up for the task. The only one who could not put their full heart into the mission was himself. Chances are they all knew that too. His one and only purpose of being part of the DSC was to catch that man and there he was letting him slip through his fingers. However, he had a job to do.

"This is a highly unusual situation, but we will treat this as any normal mission. However, keep in mind that if we have noticed it then that means it's likely that someone else has too. Be prepared for anything. Now, any questions?" He asked his comrades and awaited a response.

It was true, of all the years he had been working with the DSC as part of the 0th Special Forces Group he had never once seen a disturbance within the Dark City at such a magnitude. Perhaps it was wishful thinking, but he could not help, but to wonder if the timing of the photograph and the disturbances were too perfectly aligned. Surely not.

Guess we're doing this then.
@Asuras

Hey, love the opening post. Quick question though. Is Mathias leading the meeting or is he sitting in on it?
@Estylwen

If they're bringing their affairs into real space, then they are definitely keeping a much closer watch on them. Like they can't prove it was them, but the Ashers are definitely on their radar.
