IT'S TIME, GENTLEMEN!
@Nakushita

“Hey you!, I figured since I noticed you looking at me, and I was looking at you, I may as well come over and introduce myself, name is Yuki, I just arrived with Lady Kyouko, not even ten minutes ago, say, what kind of Yokai are you? I’ve not seen Yokai of your type before, but it is always cool to meet new and different people”

"Heh. Always good to see a smiling face, especially during these times.", Kerry replied with a smile of her own. "Name's Kerry. Welcome to the taskforce. You got you're cut out for ya."
@PaulHaynek @Restalaan (SKA) @AzureKnight (ATS & HIN) @Hammerman @Dark Cloud @Nakushita

"I heard their screaming, yokai. You gave them what they deserved." The villager complimented the Hornet. Likely an unwanted one. "Thank you for what you have done. You may be yokai, but we will never forget what you have done for us. We will be heading to the temple haven, but will probably avoid the roads. They seem to be infested with Varjans."

Kerry had to hold back a guffaw after hearing the first half of the villager's comment. How hard was for him to give out that compliment like that to her? Herculean, she bets.

"Well, in that case, I'll be your flying bodyguard on the way there. Lilith knows, I need some shut eye after today.", she replied, taking to the air as the villagers finally crossed the bridge and trekked toward the temple, Kerry hovering over them vigilantly.

Thankfully, the journey proved uneventful for once as the group of refugees walked through the front gates of Terauchi Temple. Touching down, Kerry let loose a big sigh, in both relief and exhaustion. All that's left to do is grab dinner and go straight to be- what's that snoring? Following the noise, Kerry approached a nearby tree and looked up toward its branches, only to find...

"S-Sam?", Kerry queried, quite bewildered to see the demon boy here. Last she saw him was when they first reached the temple in the early morning. Even when she came back from recruiting Takemori, Sam was nowhere to be found. Where had he been all day? Questions piling yet too tired to really care about waking Sam up and asking, Kerry only gave a shrug and the sleeping demon lie as she walked through the gate. Once inside the grounds, she would see Takeshi conversing with Luna over dinner, along with Skarsneek, Atsuha and Hinami returning from their mission. The male goblin had just finished giving out his report when Kerry stepped in.

"Hey, guys. I'm back. Took down of some Varjans causing grief at a bridge and escorted these villagers back here.", Kerry began after she grabbed a bowel of food. She....didn't bother using any utensils. "Takeshi, I got good and bad news. Good news, Takemori stands with you. Just call him and he'll be there. Bad news, his adopted daughter, Setsuna, sided with the Varjans in exchange for revealing Shizuyama's hidden routes. You may want to get the word out that your secret pathways and hideouts may be compromised. Oh, Luna? I found Sam sleeping in a tree, near the steps just outside the front gate. I don't think any of us have seen him all day, so you might wanna go check on your boy."

Then, out of the corner of her eye, Kerry noticed a woman with horns and wearing Zipangunese clothes come wandering out of the temple.

".....And who did Kyouko send this time?"
@Dark Cloud

I think I should point out that it's actually nighttime.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me...", Kerry hissed to herself as she saw the villagers, while being swift in getting on the bridge to rescue the boy, weren't as quick to getting off the bridge, with Varjans scaling up the cliff face in pursuit no less. As she witnessed this, Kerry had another idea on to how take care of these enemies for good. It would greatly exhaust her, but it should bring this battle to a close.

The Hornet put her plan into action by flying upward, still channeling her magic as the two cyclones filled with swirling arrows followed her. Once at her desired height, she took one of her vortexes and, in a sweeping motion, clenched her fist, causing the cyclone to burst and send all of the arrows the Varjans fired back at them. Not bothering to see the aftermath, Kerry quickly dove down, the last cyclone of arrows trailing behind her. As she passed underneath the bridge, Kerry pointed the vortex off to her side and slowly clenched her other fist, firing back the arrows at the Varjans that were climbing up the ravine. When the last arrow flew, she flew upward and landed on the villager's side of the ravine with Dusk and Mort flying back into her hands, planting one of them into the ground to lean into for support as she panted from the exertion of her maneuver.

"Next time.....I'm bringing a buddy.", Kerry commented out loud, getting her breath back as she looked across the ravine, hoping her attack had done the trick.
Oh shit, we got player back!? Welcome back, @Dark Cloud!

A lot has happen and I'm sure Luna will love to have Sam back, nice to have one of our male characters return.
@PaulHaynek

By the time Kerry arrived at the bridge, the sun was setting as she took in the situation..... and was filled with shocking horror and hellish fury.

What the actual FUCK!?, she thought to her self as she witnessed the Varjans, hunkering down on the cliffs on one side of the ravine, firing arrow after arrow toward the other side of the ravine, where the villagers stood. What made all of this so cruel and horrifying was that there was a young boy cowering next to a dead body in the middle of the rope bridge, obviously too scared to even move due to the rain of arrows flying around him. Kerry quickly dove toward the villager side of the ravine, landing in front of them and getting straight to the point.

"Name's Kerry. Yes, I'm a yokai. Get over it. What's going on?"

"We were running for Terauchi Temple. The bridge looked safe, but the Varjans were in the ravine! They started shooting from below!" He explained the situation. "The child is my son, and my old father tried to save him but got killed. The Varjans are using my boy as bait! Please, you have to do something!"

"Fucking heartless bastards...", Kerry hissed, beyond outraged that the Varjans would stoop so low as to use an innocent child as bait. She took to the air to get a bigger picture of what she was dealing with....and what she saw wasn't favorable.

Damn, this is bad!, she said to herself, mentally. I can't just go straight for them. They'll see me coming and just shoot the kid at that point. Not to mention they're spread out across the cliffs in such a way that, even if I use the winds to increase my speed, I can't fight them all simultaneously . There's just too many of them to fight one group at a time. I could use one of my more destructive attacks, but that'd be too reckless. I'd take out not only the Varjans, but possibly the damn bridge too, kid along with it. I could go back to the temple and get some more manpower, but it's getting dark and the boy doesn't have a lot of time before the Varjans get bored. So my remaining options would be....

Quickly coming to a decision, Kerry flew toward the middle of the bridge, Dusk and Mort gripped tightly in her hands as she swiped and deflected the incoming arrows. Before any of the Varjans realized the Hornet was coming toward them, she hovered just in front of the child and threw her spears off both sides of the bridge.

Wind Art: Twin Cyclones!

The two spears began to spin rapidly in midair, creating a pair of floating vortexes of high speed air currents. Any arrows the Varjans shot were immediately sucked in by one of the vortexes as the ravine echoed with the sound of howling winds. Yet, through all of the cacophony of noise, Kerry voice could be heard as she screamed at the villagers behind her.

"I CAN'T HOLD THIS FOR LONG! GRAB THE KID NOW!"

Before she flew out of the area, a flash of light was caught on the corner of Kerry's eye, causing her to turn around and hover back down just enough to see the commotion. As it turned out, new arrivals had appeared. A Fairy and, judging from the mushrooms and dapper attire, a Mad Hatter with a....talking axe? Wait......a talking axe!? That can only be a....!

Is that a fucking Cursed Weapon!? I thought those weren't around anymore! What kind of clout does Kyouko have!?, thought the Hornet, quite puzzled as the two newcomers, Lilliana and Alice, went their separate ways, the fairy traveling west while the corrupted weapon wielding mushroom girl talked to a villager. Shrugging, Kerry resumed her journey toward the bridge, yet a strange question bloomed in her mind as she flew....

Why did it feel like she met them in another life?
