Current TBH, I'm not surprised an Int Check got taken down. Some of the 1x1 checks I've seen are basically straight-up looking for ERP and Typef*cking almost shamelessly

Ah, I see the bots are back again with their nonsense posting.

Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Useful Resources for Players

Here are some useful resources for both in and out of character information.

Shattered Steel PMC - An Overview

The PMC Shattered Steel is one of the largest and most well-equipped PMC's in the post-Heavenfall world, and especially of the small number of legitimate ones working for the N/UN.

Shattered Steel is organised along the lines of any military force, with a military-style commander structure and ranks, and a number of divisions handling all the necessary infrastructure supporting the forces in the field.

And finally, just for fun - here's a playlist I put together on Spotify with inspirational music
You come up with a IC yet?-@Rhona W

Thank you @TokyoPewPew, I appreciate that!

But to answer, yes! The first IC post is up. A slow start to get everyone introduced and in the same room, rather than diving straight into the action, and a little bit of world-building first as well.

Scott paced back and forth in front of the large wall-mounted monitor again, his boots squeaking on the flooring of the meeting room. Anxiously, he glanced toward the door to the room and back at the laptop on the desk for the umpteenth time. His pacing was interrupted by an annoyed sigh of breath, and he glanced to the end of the front row of seats, and Kat 'KK' Kane, his RIO. She scowled at him, her single ice blue eye giving him a stern, disapproving look that he momentarily bristled at, before deflating, a wry smile creeping on his lips, matched by an amused one from her.
"All right, fine; I'll stop pacing. I'm just... nervous. It's been a long time since I've been responsible for anyone else. Well, in a professional capacity anyway. Command always seemed... out of my reach"
Kat sighed again and gave him a slight, sympathetic smile, speaking up in her rough, ragged, hushed voice.
"If the higher-ups didn't think you had what it took, then you wouldn't be standing there, ready to handle the briefing. And you and I both know you've got the experience and the record to back it up"
Scott sighed himself and nodded, leaning on the desk, and gazing the screen of his hardened laptop without really seeing it as he pondered.
"...Yeah, you're right. I've done as much preparing as I can do; I've read all of their dossiers and records, and I've reviewed the mission brief and intel. All I can do now is wait for them all to turn up". He frowned and checked his watch, and then glanced at the clock on the wall of the classroom-like briefing room.
"Speaking of which... where are they, they should be starting to arrive now...
A neat party trick the F-111 can do that looks more impressive/dangerous than it is - dumping fuel and then igniting it with the afterburners.
It works because the fuel dump nozzle is between the engine exhausts.

I love them both, and the choice of aircraft as well. And the colour scheme for it! Also, nice formatting on the sheet.
Enthusiastically approved, please feel free to post them in the characters tab.
@Rhona W I’ve edited it better. It’s on page 2. Dropped the Girl.

He's looking good to me. I think I get the main jist of his background, although some of the wording is a little bit confusing to me. Nonetheless, feel free to post him in the characters tab

We have enough characters to start, and I know that we're probably expecting at least one more.

However, that gives me enough to start working on the IC.
I'll aim to have something up by tomorrow evening (GMT) to get us all started!
if this is still open, I'd like to make a tentative tag! The setting is quite interesting but I'm not very knowledgable on aircraft so it depends how much I can understand

Definitely still open, and you're welcome aboard. I'd be more than happy to help you out with any questions you have about aircraft and offer any needed hand-holding! Willing to learn is as valuable as anything, as is the desire to embrace the setting.

Alright, here is my character! @Rhona W

I love her, she looks fantastic and really cute too; excellent choice of plane as well! That's exactly the kind of 'never was' proposed/prototype plane I envisioned for the setting
Enthusiastically approved, please post her in the characters tab.

Name: Katherine Kane
Callsign/Nickname: KK for 'Killer Kitten', and a pun on her initials and 'Kat' the short version of her name.
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Katherine is a towering 6'7" tall, and has a wiry, rugged, muscular body, built from hard wear and toil. She is covered in scars, including her left eye being missing and covered with a black leather patch. Her black hair is worn in a shaggy mess, often tied back when working. Her remaining eye is a very pale, icy blue.

Nationality: English
Personality:
Kat has a personality that might come off as abrasive and stand-offish to those who meet her at first, especially coupled with her quiet voice and fierce-looking exterior. This prickly exterior is hardly surprising given her history.
But her like, fondness, and affection for others is often shown in small gestures and actions. Should she feel the need to express her opinions, her words will often be blunt and direct to get to the point with the minimum of misunderstanding.
She does have a sense of humour, and is thoroughly amused by silly humour and jokes that don't end up with anyone hurt or feeling bad.
She adores animals, due to their simple needs and feelings, and bonds with them easily and quickly. She likes children, but is often confused and somewhat wary of them, due to their energy, enthusiasm and unpredictability.
It takes her a while to open up and trust other people, but once she does, she is a die-hard loyal friend and comrade.
However, her past always haunts her, both in her physical scars and mental ones. Aside from her frequent nightmares and occasional dissociative moments, she is absolutely terrified of being taken prisoner and the possibility of torture and as such, will enter a blind, berserker rage state if she is in danger of being imprisoned.
Kat is fiercely loyal and dedicated to Scott, and the feeling is mutual. She will always back him up on the ground and in the air, and the pair work together as an incredibly intuitive - and extremely lethal - pair.
Their relationship is a complicated one. They love one another dearly, and have a strong bond, as well as a very close, personal and intimate one. It is not romantic and neither would call it that, but is more than a platonic, purely professional bond as well.
History:
Kat grew up in a comfortable life, and comfortable surroundings. Raised in a family with Old Money in the English Aristocracy, she had a childhood with ponies, private schools, and all the luxuries one could imagine...
...Paid for by her father's life of organised crime. It of course, caught up to him and to his family, and in this, Kat was kidnapped and thrust into the horrible underworld of crime. Her captors had no interest in her worth, ransoming her wasn't of interest; breaking her father's spirit was. And as such, she was forced into degrading slavery, and when her father finally met his end, she was of no more use or interest.
Kat fought back viciously against the indignities forced on her. She was beaten into submission each time, but it never dulled her fury and anger, and eventually her captors tired of having to cope with her struggles and violence to present her to clients - who'd often end up mauled and injured themselves - they sold her on into underground fighting.
She fought viciously and relentlessly to stay alive, driven by the constant thought of getting revenge.
Eventually, she got her chance not long after the Heavenfall. As the Soviet Union disintegrated in violence, chaos, and anarchy; the criminal underworld fell apart along with it.
Kat was treated as a commodity and a bargaining chip. Sometimes she was a weapon, kept ragged and raw to be pointed at the enemy and unleashed. Sometimes she was a thing to be used or discarded, or bet on and pitted against others. But she was never treated with much in the way of kindness or respect, and often used to exercise frustrations.
That was until the loose band of conmen, military remnants and out-and-out criminals she was caught up with crossed paths with Scott and the people he'd banded together with.
Scott and his crew managed to drive off or kill most of the people enslaving Kat and others like her. He gave her a chance at freedom, and she took it up.
Over time, he gently coaxed out her trust, and slowly rehabilitated her personality, bringing her back from the edge of being a feral thing and into a more complete person again.
As part of this, he taught her how to fly. Kat picked up the rest of the understanding with her quick, smart mind, rediscovering her love for learning, knowledge, and information as she did. She soon became something of a 'gentle giant' and a protector among the group. Intimidating to many, but known for her ferociously protective nature and her incredible stamina, endurance and strength.
Even after Scott and his group managed to reach the Atlantic, and then England and later the USA, they had become an inseparable duo.
Somehow, and somewhere along the way, official documentation for Kat's experience and qualifications as a fast-jet pilot and crewman appeared and after that, enlisting together in Shattered Steel seemed like the perfect way for the two to continue their partnership.
She learned the rest of the formal skills and talent necessary to be a RIO for the F-14 while part of the company, and her reputation has continued to grow alongside Scott's own as part of the group.

Personal Gear:

Personal Aircraft: RIO (Radar Intercept Officer, aka backseater) in ASF-14 Super Tomcat 2010 with Scott as pilot

Anything Else: Kat speaks in a very hushed, rough voice due to damage to her throat and vocal cords. Despite her missing eye, she has extremely acute and sharp vision in her remaining eye, and incredible situational awareness.
She also really loves ice cream.
