Begonia Cottage
Matthew held in a grin as the boy refused to hold eye contact. Good, someone who understood the importance of not insulting him with his sight. He did hate people who didn't understand sight space.
The intimidated boy gave his name, Oceanus.
Jesus christ his parents didn't give him much of a chance did they. Matthew couldn't decide to laugh at him or sigh and close the door. Some twisted mixture of the two was forming in his brain when Mordechai opened the door.
“Nem Zich a vaneh, Doyle,”
"I still don't speak dutch you know."
Then the puddle-boy spoke some more trying to fill the silence, his voice creaking and cracking. This just reminded Matthew why he didn't talk to the freshman. Their voices were often a whole octave above the upper limit He could tolerate in a person. As he talked about being a detective or something Matthew began to make the mental processing of closing the door and going back to bed. As much fun he was not having listening to Water and Dutch he had sleep to try and not have. But before he could do anything a pang of hunger eminated from his stomach.
Ah yes, it was true that he not managed to eat anything over the long night of being able to eat anything. His rations had ran out the day before and he coudln't risk going downstairs and waking up Elaina and having her spear tackle him. Or worse trying to have a conversation with him. That crafty woman knew his worse fears.
Als, with a deep sigh. Matthew stepped into the light of the outer cottage. Oceanus and Mordechai both noticed that Matthew's black pyjamas were two sizes too big for him and therefor hung loosely. "Detective huh?" Matthew raised an eyebrow inquistively as he approached Oceanus.
"Is that your 'gift'" Matthew knew it wasn't. It was so obviously something to do with the beach that the thought of it being anything else couldn't even gain a foothold in his head. "I think I know your partners. Pondi and Lakethey right? Shame their not in the same cottage as you. Such is the path of independence" He turned his gaze to Mordechai for a moment. Before looking at his nails. "Of course I enjoy solving mysteries. It means theres no longer a mystery there. That's rather simple don't you think."
Matthew headed for the stairs. With move in week, the food in the cottage would be at an all time high. And with Elaina out, there was no need to pretend for there to be any type of cordialness with his fellow cottage mates with the food. It was every man for himself out there. With those two likely being preoccupied with introductions for another few minutes, all Matthew had to do was-
There stood in the open doorway was a girl with dripping hair. As in her hair was literally dripping with water. Mild confusion washed over Matthew's face before he realised there was a cottage transfer. Frederica Cecilia Tewksbury, such a long name. Yet Freddie was too casual. Someone should advise her to revise what she calls herself and think of something in the middle.
Still, with her being here now. He could see the glint in her eye of a fellow contestant of the breakfast battle royal. And with little fondness of the idea of a dripping land baronness trying to make conversation with her new "Cottage mate haha". Matthew decided that a group would be the best disguise to make it out without having to make any actual food conversation.
"Breakfast everyone? Perhaps Ollie and the others will join us. Perhaps not. Food is happening either way."
