Been working on this for a while, bout time I posted it lol
EDIT: Should be good to go now, might have missed some stuff as I was working with an earlier draft. Just let me know and I'll update it again.
Character You're Applying For:
Harvey Bullock
Powers And Abilities:
Harvey has no specific powers of his own. He’s a crack detective with numerous cases under his belt and a mean attitude. He’s a decent enough shot with his handgun but his skills really shine when he’s brawling. While not having much proper martial arts training, his size and hard upbringing has left him more than able to hold his own against human or mostly human opponents.
Origin And Backstory (In A Maximum Of Four Paragraphs):
Harvey’s life growing up was pretty average. He got decent marks in school had friends that he’d get into trouble with, a loving family, etc. The only thing to really differentiate Harvey from the norm was his uncanny attraction to violence. Harvey normally rubbed people the wrong way with his boisterous attitude or confrontational personality but at his core Harvey didn’t see himself as a bad guy and wished to prove this fact to himself by becoming an officer of the law.
Despite a few setbacks relating to Harvey’s polarizing personality, the guy managed to pass all the tests and exams to get put on the GCPD. Beginning as a beat cop, Harvey used his brutal attitude and physical prowess to quickly start putting his own dent in the crime of Gotham City. However, his more hands on approach to fighting crime quickly led to Harvey being the recipient of quite a few lawsuits, most of which holding little to now water, but the ones that did had a lot of money behind them. Things weren’t looking good for Harvey as the odds began to stack against him. That’s when the a prominent ‘business man’ saw an opportunity. Salvatore Maroni offered to make all the suits disappear if Harvey agreed to work for him. Harvey would have laid the man out on any other day but Harvey knew he didn’t have the kind of money or influence to be able to get out of this situation on his own. Reluctantly Harvey agreed to work for Maroni, being asked to ‘lose’ evidence every once in a while or ignore a call on the radio on occasion.
Years of being on Maroni’s pay grade eventually resulted in Harvey getting promoted to detective after going after a few ‘hunches’ but conversely 'messing up' here and there. Now, having lived an overall unfulfilling life, Harvey’s found a second lease on life with the sudden emergence of superheroes. At the request of some higher ups in the GCPD, Harvey’s been assigned to the newly developed Super Human Investigation Department (S.H.I.D. for short) in order to try to expose the identity of the so called vigilantes that operate within the city and attempt to one up them in apprehending criminals deemed ‘Super-Villains’ by the department and public.
What Makes This Character 'Ultimate’?:
With all the superpowered people popping up in this new universe, I think it would be neat to have one bound to having no alter-ego and a whole life to lose. With superheroes they have the duality of their alter-ego or just have no care for social standing. Harvey on the other hand has to be careful of how he’s going to go about things or else risk making some powerful enemies that he can’t even begin to handle. I also want to show Harvey leveraging his new position in the police force in an attempt to take his life back into his own hands and out from under the thumb of Maroni.
Supporting Characters:
Salvatore Maroni- A local crime boss who has a decent amount of the GCPD in his pocket, including Harvey. Maroni acts as both an ally to Harvey, offering some supplies and illegal services, and also an enemy as Harvey wishes to bust him and get his life back on track.
Micheal ‘Mickey’ Watson- A fellow S.H.I.D. member who tends to stick behind a desk. He acts as a source of information for Harvey in the field. While not in the league of Oracle, he’s also an amateur hacker.

”It’s uh.. Friday night. Clear skies and about… four o’cl- wait a minute.” Harvey said into his old tape recorder as he noticed his watch had stopped. Harvey paused his recording as he tapped on the glass casing of his watch in a feeble attempt to somehow get it to start again.
”Ah fuck it.” Harvey turned to one of the other officers on scene ”Hey! What’s the time!”.
“Eight forty!” The officer called back, rubbing his stomach so as to keep his dinner from coming back up.
Harvey clicked the record button once again as he turned back to the scene in front of him. ”Clear skies, eight-forty, nasty lookin’ murder scene. Body’s been here for at least two and a half hours since it was discovered. Head’s all kinds of messed up.” The detective said as he now made his way into the crime scene properly. The body on the ground was that of miss Alexa Campbell, 30 years old, with her head opened in an inhuman manner akin to a flower blooming. The scene was grisly and any evidence pertaining to the murder was few and far between but sadly not unfamiliar to Harvey.
”Looks a lot like the MO of that serial killer that’s been killing every few years. The plant murderer or something. Whatever. Scene is consistent with the plant murderer killings. Head’s opened up like a half peeled orange, brain stem is severed and cause of death is probably blood loss which was the case with all the other victims.”
Harvey crouched down near the body, looking over the wound before giving the face a look over. Twelve years earlier Harvey was one of the first responders to a plant murderer scene. The sight of the man was burned into Harvey’s memory though it’s weight on his psyche had lessened over the years. That said, it could be almost seen as poetic that one of his first major experiences as a cop would be his first case in the S.H.I.D. division of the GCPD.
”Who thought that was a good acronym.” Harvey told himself after stopping his recording. He stood up to get ready to look around some more for clues that he knew weren’t there until he noticed something that brought him back to that first murder scene twelve years ago and a discrepancy in the autopsy. Harvey pulled out his old Nokia phone and phoned one of the desk jockeys at the station that he still didn’t know the name of despite working together for close to three months.
“What’s up Ha-“
”I need ya to look up any medical records of Alexa Campbell and the last guy killed by that plant murderer.”
“Plant murderer? You mean a logging company or something-?”
”No smart ass, that one with that flay’s the people’s heads open like an orange.”
“Got it. Medical records of Alexa Campbell and last victim of the Mind-Flayer serial killer coming right up. You want me to look for anything speci-“
”I’ll take a look at it when I get there.” Harvey said as he hung up and hopped in a taxi.
“It’s right there, you gotta click over a ta-“
”That’s what I’m doin’ but its not working” Harvey exclaimed as he continued to click just outside the tab’s box. After a flurry of furious clicks Harvey finally clicked the tab, bringing up the second medical tab of the last Mind-Flayer victim along with Alexa Campbell’s. Looking over the noted inconsistencies, Harvey smiled.
”Jacob Stone, the last victim, was getting treated for brain cancer but when his body showed up there wasn’t any sign of cancer. The detectives thought it had been cut out or something by the psycho who did this since there was a ton of cuts in the gray matter. Harvey explained before clicking over to Alexa’s records.
”Alexa Campbell; no previous records of any cancer or anything like that but the brain I saw tonight was anything but healthy and, as far as I know, matches up to Jacob’s medical records.”
“So you’re saying the Mind-Flayer killer’s been killing people and putting their last victim’s brain in their latest victim’s head?”
”Bingo. Now I have to figure out who’s been doing it.”
“Oh that’s all?”
”Ah fuck it.” Harvey turned to one of the other officers on scene ”Hey! What’s the time!”.
