Morning rituals were important for Aoki. She would wake up early in the morning, just before sunrise, to run around town, get home around 6 am for some yoga, and get ready for her regular coffee and bagel in the local cafe. This change of pace had been easy for her to adapt to. From noisy mornings full of shouting, honking, and the packed busses to a run in the morning and still have enough time to treat herself for breakfast in a lovely homey cafe. One could say Aoki was living the dream.

Partly anyway.

Aoki was still very much a stranger in Sanctuary, a pretty conservative town at that. A girl with bleached hair and eyebrows walking around with arms covered in tattoos wasn't something you see very often in these types of town. Still, she did everything to act friendly around the locals, always buying from the local stores and markets, offering help whenever she could. It had started to work; the people in the Cosy Bear Cafe already knew what to expect when she walked through their door around 8 in the morning.

"A large green tea latte, iced and a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese, please." That was her usual order, sometimes she would replace the bagel for a coffee cake or another type of bread, but today was a bagel type day.

Aoki shook off her coat and pulled the laptop, sketchbook, and phone from her bag while she waited for her order. She usually spent around two hours inside the coffee replying to emails, sketching new ideas for tattoos, or just browsing the web before leaving for the shop. But since today's weather looked like it wasn't going to clear out anytime, she decided to take the day off from working on her shop and decided to spend some of it in town.

She could take the time to meet a few more of the locals, maybe visit the Tavern later on and drop by the market for a few more vegetables.

Interested!

Hades' Cabin | Camp-Halfblood
Interactions: Anzu @Pyxis, Tyler, Brandon @Moro, Erin @Vicier

There was no hesitation, no look back, no other gesture towards him when Anzu turned around and left him standing there with her sword pressed against his chest. It wasn't until the pink of her hair had disappeared behind some buildings that he heard Anzu's name being called over the PA system.

If she was needed in the Big House by Mr. D, it meant that she would be busy for the next few days- hopefully.

Carlos took a deep breath before arching his back, cracking his back, and began to head for Erin's cabin. The walk there was short, his feet carrying him quickly towards the dark building where the accused daughter of Hades was probably waiting for everyone. He wondered how they would be leaving the camp. The skies and sea were dangerous for demigods.

Probably shadow travel.

Carlos hated shadow traveling. It didn't feel right. Once Valeria took him across the Mess Hall, and it felt like he had been traveling for hours. He didn't know it felt like that, but after that experience, he had always tried to avoid that as much as he could. It was like his luck, the blessing from his mother, had left him for those brief seconds. It felt like the fates were finally catching up to him.

It was going to suck.

Carlos knocked on the front door before sliding into the building, the Japanese sword now strapped to his belt. The added weight of it gave him a small comfort as he stepped inside, eyes resting on the trio already thereβ€”Erin and Tyler, together with Brandon standing a few ways off.

"At least I'm not the last one here," Carlos walked in, almost tugging his shoes off- a small custom he had picked up from Anzu. "So, I assume we'll be leaving as soon as everyone gets here?."

He walked further in, removing the backpack from his bag but leaving the sword tied to his belt. His eyes darted from Brandon and Tyler, knowing well enough that both of them had some trouble getting along; hopefully, he'd help Erin keep the peace between the two while out on their little life-threatening adventure.

"Now, now, no fighting. Save it for the scary monsters out there."

Big House | Camp-Halfblood
Everyone in the Big House

The Fates really wanted to fuck with Kyrin didn't they?

The son of Aphrodite stood by the back of the room, listening to every word that Mr. D threw their way. He could feel the pit of his stomach sink when he heard Elias's name when the leader was named. Great, great! At least the German boy wasn't here to give him one of his cheeky smiles or a stupid wink that made Kyrin's heart skip a beat and his cheeks blush. Just thinking about that stupid blond made Kyrin want to hit that pretty face.

Great, another Aphrodite daughter. Imani and Ariana would probably love this one too. That name though, he had heard it before and if he had heard it before so would have the monsters that liked to hunt them. And eat them for dinner.

He glanced at the other leader of the group, Grayson. At least it seemed like Dionysus had a talent at picking the team leaders. Looked like the indifference the god liked to put off wasn't as real as he'd want/ Both of the leads seemed capable and responsible, something that Kyrin was nowhere close to being.

And then the leader changed. Kyrin glanced over to Anzu, all he could see was the back of her pink-colored hair. She was one of his closest friends at cap besides Erin. He was glad that she was going along with them and she'd be the new leader. At least he'd be able to actually do something and freeze up. Besides, Elias wouldn't be able to lead correctly without the ability to speak.

Kyrin was in no way going to give him back their imaginary key any time soon.

After some messing around with the controls and a bit of peeking at the code, Beau left a message for Ky'vie on Elthree and snuck out of the bunker without much noise. After it had taken the pair longer than two minutes to come out of that room, he decided to let them have a bit more privacy. He didn't mind; Ky needed to take her time saying goodbye to the person she really liked, as she had put it.

Beau was still trying to wrap his head around that. He trusted Ky, he loved his sister and wanted the best for her, but sometimes her choice in men was, at best, questionable. While he didn't know Brandon, he knew the reputation the guy had around camp and the opposite sex. It was no secrete. It made him worry about what may happen in the future between the two of them if Ky would really get what she wanted from Brandon or would just be pushed aside.

His mind kept running circles around the thought until he spotted the familiar curls and freckled shoulders of Tatiana. The curve of her shoulders and the softness of her curls had become a welcoming sight these past months. The daughter of Hecate had become a close friend that he could lean on without being teased or bombarded with questions. Tatiana's bluntness and directness were like a breath of fresh air amongst his siblings and his other friends.

"Hey! Tati, where are you headed? " Beau called out to her, approaching her from behind, hands buried deep in the pockets of his forest green windbreaker. It had been a gift from his grandmother a few years back. He had used several patched to cover up stains from woodwork and other messy repairs. No matter how worn out it was, Beau always managed to match it back up and continue to wear it. At this point, it was strange seeing him without it.

Tati had been making her way down the path towards the Pavillion when she heard the familiar voice of Beau behind her. She dropped her fingers from the smooth and shiny mark in her forearm to her side and glanced back to see the son of Hephaestus approaching her. She stopped in her tracks, turning around to greet him with a flash of white teeth and a slight nod.

"Pavillion, I saw some red cardinals growing behind the stands; I need them for my next ritual." Tati placed a hand over her hip, eyeing the guy in front of him with a quirked eyebrow. "Want to tag along? Avoiding cabin ten like always?"

A teasing smile graced her lips as she reached over and patted Beau's arm with a heavy hand and pulling him along her original path. The guy always reminded her of a golden retriever, and that is what he was. Just an oversized puppy with what felt like an endless amount of energy.

She had always felt comfortable with Beau; he had been one of the first people at camp to welcome her and make her feel like she could eventually call this place home.

"Ha, me? No!" Beau let out a small laugh, his arm casually swinging over Tati's shoulder as he picked up the speed. "But yes." There was no point in lying to Tati. She knew everything. It was hard to hide things from her, especially after she had laid out everything for him to see. While lying to her was impossible now, there was no point in doing so either. Tati always had a way to get him to talk sooner or later.

"Uh-huh, whatever you say, dude." Tatiana rolled her eyes, leaning against his just a bit as they made their way towards the Pavillion. She was glad that the people had cleared out from earlier after Erin's quest had been announced. She didn't want any of the Demeter kids lingering around and pestering her about her personal garden.

"C'mon, if a Demeter spawn catches me, they'll lecture me again. Gods, last time Kareem wouldn't shut up about the importance of wildflowers and native bees." Tatiana said, pulling away from Beau and hurrying to the back of the stands where some wild red cardinals were growing. She pulled out a blue piece of what seemed an old t-shirt sleeve and plucked the flower, placing it between the cloth.

"I wouldn't cross them; they can control plants. Haven't you seen The Happening?" Beau shook his head, eyes glancing at the flower then the weeds around him.

"Dude that was a movie." Tatiana rolled her eyes, snorting at his stupid comment. Dumb cheesy movies, that had become a little tradition between the two. It usually happened after venting to one another or sharing gossip; either way, it had become a sort of therapy for them both.

"Have you talked to her?" She turned around, folwing the cloth and slipping it into one of her black cargo pants.

"No." Beau turned his attention back to the girl in front of him. After taking a deep breath, he slipped his fingers through his carefully styled hair and shook his head. "I don't think I can, not yet."

"It's been almost six months, Beau. You'll have to talk to her eventually." Tatiana sighed, looking at him with a pointed look.

"I don't have to."

"You do."

"Fine, but I don't want to."

"You do."

"I can't."

"You can."

"... Fuck you."

"Just get it over with, Beau." Tatiana threw her arm around his shoulders, having to reach just a bit, and squeezed them. "Imani isn't going to leave any time soon, and neither are you, so might as well clear the air, so it's not awkward. I can practically feel the awkwardness when you two are in the same room!"

"Yeah, well..." Beau let her comfort him. There wasn't much that Tatiana could say that he hadn't thought of. It would be better if he talked to her. It would be better if they cleared the air, but -

"I just - I don't know how to say the things I want to say... Tati, I loved her. I really did." He also missed her; even after six months, Beau still missed her. Tati said it was the idea of her, the idea of being loving and being loved back. But Tati didn't know that; she couldn't be right. "I still don't know why she broke it up. She never said why or who's fault it was. I've been trying to figure it out myself, but - I just... I don't know."

"Some people love each other," Tatiana slipped in front of Beau, taking his hand in hers. "but it doesn't mean they belong together."

Beau let out a breath, looking at her, then down at their hands, "I guess you're right."

"I know I am." Tatiana squeezed his hand. "Come, we'll figure out what you can say to her when you finally talk to her." She began leading Beau out from the under the stands and back towards the cabins.

Big House | Camp-Halfblood
Imani

Imani's cooking had become one of the few things he truly cherished in this place. It was different from the foods made in the cafeteria kitchens or any foods outside the camp. Food in Cork had been bland, tasteless, and cold. In Los Angeles, it had been too hot that burned his tongue. Imani's cooking was anything but that. She treated it almost like an art, the way she'd always cut the vegetables with such precision or how she sprinkled the seasoning over the food. Watching her made him wonder how they could be related in the slightest.

The drunken haze had crawled back to the edges of his mind, the numbing feeling that came with it now gone. So when Kyrin heard his name being called among a few others over the speaker system, he blinked, unsure he had really heard his name. Why would Dionysus be calling his name? He hadn't been the only one being called, so it couldn't be something bad, right?

It ate at him like ember on paper as he gathered himself. It took him a minute or two of running his hands through the bleached blonde hair. His roots were growing out, the dark hair peeking out, making him look unkempt and messy. He should just dye it back to black, less effort to maintain. But dying it back would mean he'd look like him.

Kyrin stared at his reflection. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea...

Kyring Nahng he could hear Mr.D's voice again in his mind.

A shake of his head and another comb through his hair, his attention was brought back to the task at hand. Dionysus was looking for him, and quickly. As much as he didn't want to make his way back up to the Big House, he knew keeping the God of Wine waiting wasn't a good idea.

"I'll see you later, Ani." Kyrin waved to her as he walked out of their cabin, hands buried in his pockets.

Mess Hall | Camp-Halfblood
Maki - @Metztli

"Something like that."

Valeria pushed a gooey peach around the pie tray, her eyes staring down at it. She hadn't been distracted, just preoccupied. Her interaction with Talon wasn't leaving her mind, and as much as she wanted to hear Maki explain their ability to her, she just wouldn't be able to pay attention. All she could think about was that face, the clenched jaw and fists, the way he looked at her when she smiled like nothing. The way he had reacted after Brynn's interaction, the way she had felt all those old scars.

She could still feel them. Her magic had been able to pick out the newest scars, but at the same time, she was able to see the older ones. The ones that had healed over long periods without care. Without a gentle hand.

At that moment, Valeria had wanted to comfort the boy. Ask him if he could take all of those old scars away. She was glad she didn't; it would have probably upset Talon further. It wasn't the right thing to do, not after he had taught her how to skip rocks. Her father would say that she'd be out of line. She didn't know Talon well enough.

But she was just trying to be nice to him.

"I learned to skip rocks," Valeria smiled, looking at Maki now. "It was nice; I didn't get the hang of it first, but after some practice, I got it!" She took her spoon, bring it up in front of her face. The pie forgotten now.

"First, you have to find the right rock- or pebble. Smooth and kind of heavy." She pulled her arm back and twisted her torso a bit, "Then you go like this and throw it! But you have to be careful because if you do it with too much force, you'll just throw the pebble." A grin and a throw of an imaginary pebble before she sat back down in front of Maki.

"So, tell me now, how'd you get the pie?"

after valentine's, i went on two more dates with the same guy (he works from home and I have regular covid tests, so we good). i really like him, so i'm hoping it works out in the end c: also, he has a cute dog!

Mess Hall | Camp-Halfblood
@Metztli

She stood there for a little longer, watching Talon leave. Valeria waved towards him, an easy smile spreading over her features as he turned back to look at her. She understood now why he had been so reluctant, so standoffish. She had felt the old injuries, the poorly healed cuts all over his body, and they told her enough. Enough to connect the dotsβ€”enough in her mind. She shouldn't have been so forward, maybe be a little more gentle but then again, that wasn't Valeria. She could get lost in the moment, she had trouble reading people and seeing social cues. She just hoped she hadn't pushed Talon too far.

Hoped that he would keep the potion and use it.

Valeria stayed there by the lake until Talon had disappeared, and the only thing remaining of him was her thoughts and the bloody rocks under her feet. She picked one of them up, looking at the splatter of blood on them before pulling her hand back, just like he had shown her, and swung the rock forward to the surface of the lake. The satisfying sound of the splat seemed to echo on her mind as she watched the smooth pebble skip across the water until it finally lost its momentum and sunk. The ripples in the water stopped, and Valeria finally left the lake.

She tried not to think of Talon as she made her way back into camp, past the cabins and towards the Mess Hall. She walked past a few campers talking amongst each other, something about a missing pie and boxes. Valeria wondered if Maki had done something on their way to their destination, probably caused some minor chaos or inconvenience, the normal. When Valeria finally made her way to the Mess Hall, she immediately spotted Maki sitting and digging right into a suspicious-looking pie.

"So, this is the pie I heard of on my way here." She smiled, sitting across from Maki. Valeria reached over to take a spoon for herself. "How'd you do it?" She had always enjoyed hearing Maki's little chains; as small as they were, they seemed to work in the end. Most of them anyway. Maki had a way of just perfecting Valeria's pranks and making sure they caused the most chaos; it was truly a skill that she admired about them.
