Tristan Glory

Looking over videos was a timely activity and for a good bit he got no result nor saw anything that stood out. Rewind then forward, rewind then forward, the process repeated in dull repetition which was starting to bore and lull him to sleep. Tristan let out a yawn as he rested his chin against his palm, arm propped up by the elbow when the drowsiness made his head slip down. Snapping out of the bored haze to find his face close to the screen and it was here that he actually took notice of the minute long skip. It was so small and brief that actually spotting it would be near impossible unless one was meticulously watching the time. And he stumbled upon it by accident; a stroke of luck as he pondered if the other robbery attempts had the minute long skip and after watching over a few of them would see that they did indeed.

How peculiar that every robbery had this same issue and seeing how Hurly or the rancher never mentioned anything about this had him assume they had not discovered the missing recording. He thought to bring it up and ask the man, but remember the farmhand's advice; with no way to rule the man out as one of the thieves he decided against it. As he continued his search he would discover the shadow zooming past the camera.* Strange...it can't be coincidence that such an issue would occur on every night of robbery. And a minute? No way someone could sneak in grab some eggs and get out in under a minute.* Musing this to himself which led him to think two possibilities; a hacker and someone working on the inside, possibly two." Excuse me...Hurly was it? How many people on this ranch has access to this security shed? And when was the most recent robbery incident?" He asked while keeping his eyes on the screen trying to see if he could slow down the footage to get even a smidge better look at the shadow.

Tristan would find himself surprised yet again when reaching the security room. The cameras and tech inside really did not match the plain appearance of the shed or even the fact they had such quality gear. The owners of the ranch definitely were not the type to be stuck in the old ways and yet, even with such cameras they have not caught any sign of these thieves? There was something fishy going on her, then again being looked over by a guy named Hurly gave him doubts on whether he was trustworthy when it came to using these cameras.

Once again being shown of having little faith by the staff of this ranch. He was already in a bad mood and to have ranchers looking down on him after he went out of his way to help; not his fault none of these people bore any fruit towards the case and he intends make them regret looking down at him. The only unfortunate thing was that it also meant having to look through a few week's worth of footage; thankfully the room was well regulated and air-condition so he wouldn't have to endure sitting in a hot box.

" Hmph, we will see about that." After a few minutes figuring out and getting used to the controls he shifted forward in the chair to start his inspection. There were a few things Tristan was good at; fashion, shopping and social media and with it had dipped his hands into posting videos where he had learned about video editing. Of course, he wouldn't go saying he was an expert, but editing taught him to look for a few things and it was here he planned to put it to use. Starting with checking the first night the thieves appeared." If there is any time the thieves would make mistakes it is the first few attempt." He spoke aloud though mostly to himself in musing as he scanned through the footage observing each of the camera in turn, turning the wheel slowly checking the time stamp for any varying time differences that don't match or clipping to see if any tampering was done or to see if anything in the images shown changed at all in between before and after the eggs were taken.

Hardly a few minutes passed after leaving the dance floor and trying to make sense of things did a voice suddenly speak up at him. And in such an unexpected manner causing Kazu to jump in surprise." Crhist! Where did you come from?" He exclaimed flabbergasted, his head still whirling and at a loss only to be approached and the manner she did so actually had him blushing a bit for once. Not often does he get called big boy and from a lady at that... in fact never that is until today.

" Um..what? Dance? I..." Trailing off as he struggled to make sense of what was happening as he heard her suggest joining her in swinging around on the dance floor with the added promise, she wouldn't puke on him. The lady unknown to him had certainly helped snap him out of the guilt-ridden bout of depression he nearly sank into and now just found himself both confused yet curious.

The woman who was a fellow blonde also seemed to carry with her a wild and energetic disposition which was not all too different from his own. She was of course stunning though what woman here wasn't? But she looked like someone he could get along with and were he not in such awkwardly horrendous situation would be sharing in her enthusiasm.

Opening his mouth to speak when a masked man walked over who had an air of mystery around them and without a word handed the lady some letter. Then he was gone as quickly as he appeared.

As one could imagine, Kazu had a hard time following anything that occurred these pasts several minutes. For now, he was observing Anastasia; curiosity towards the letter's content beating out everything else at the moment though he dared not ask for it was none of his business.

It ended up not mattering as he had the letter handed to him anyway followed by mention of an afterparty that had the discombobulated blonde perk up." An afterparty? Lady...you're speaking my language and if the place has actual liquor then consider me there yesterday." Some of his usual playful spunk returned upon being given such an opportunity and so took a moment to read the contents of the letter before crumpling it up to be pocketed for now.

There was still the matter of her offer to dance and was intending to refuse at first. But after considering that he was already heads deep buried in muck kinds of trouble..."Fuck it. I'm probably gonna be dying tonight or tomorrow so why the hell not." He finally replied proper with a casual shrug of the shoulders. This time he made sure to reach for the hand but stopped his hand short with an uncertain look in his eyes." Wait... on one condition. That you promise you won't break down or run off crying on me." He tilted his head in a suspicious manner; hesitation that was warranted as two of the ladies he met this night had done exactly these things, mind the first one had nothing to do with him. Yet, he was starting to have suspicions that noble women were either very sensitive or crazy and this one could very well possibly be either or both.

If she agreed to the little deal he extended then he would take hold of her hand and let himself be led onto the dance floor.

The door to the balcony opened with Persphone walking through first as Kazu held the door open as a gentleman should. And he did so to be sarcastic at that. Waiting a moment longer before he stepped inside with the reserved bottle of wine in hand, its content half empty while his finely pressed suit looked tussled and blonde hair all messy and unkempt as if a strong wind or possibly a hand had messed it up." Well, that was wild! It was great catching up with ya, Percy!" He called out with a wave while laughing." Have fun dancing and who knows...might get yourself some smoochy action with the lucky guy!" Calling out his last comment before she could get out of earshot which net him a scathing glare from his fiercely imposing childhood friend to which Kazu gave a wide cheeky grin in return before watching her begrudgingly stamp off.

He watched her depart with a snicker." Ah, that's a face I've seen all too often. never fun when her ire is directed at me though." Yet, it was worth incurring such wrath to see her all worked up; especially when it helped get her mind off things that were bothering her. Here he expected to gain nothing out of this party only to wind up discovering a long-time friend thought to be dead to be very much alive and fine...well fine enough considering what she had been through. But these were things he would inquire on more at a more appropriate time lest such discussion soured any chance of either actually enjoying the evening or the pleasant reunion the two just shared.

Now finding himself alone once more, Kazu took this moment to look over himself to see the disheveled state he was in having him let out a low chuckle." Whew, we really did a number back there. Thankfully nothing was damaged. " Talking to no one in particular as he took this chance to fix his suit and hair until he was properly presentable once more though why he bothered when his destination was to be the dining tables.

Seeing as how the servants were going around with bowls in preparation for the first dance made for the perfect opportunity to get the food all to himself. His stomach rumbled in anticipated agreement.

The young blonde strolled his way towards the table and taking a sip of wine as he went along. And just when he was about to reach the delicious banguet before him, did a servant appear before him with a bowl holding scraps of folded parchment extended towards him." ah, ya snuck up on me there." He replied with a half-hearted laugh while giving his left hand a little wave to indicate refusal." Thanks, but there is no need as I'm choosing to refrain from danc-"

A sudden iron grip squeezing down around his shoulder cut Kazumin off immediately followed by an ominous aura. A hesitant turn of the head revealed Baron Asteroth standing beside him to his right." Now now, young Nagasa. Surely you don't intend to be rude to our gracious majesty who went through quite a many troubles hosting such a grand ball only for you to refuse a dance or two?" The man spoke in a cooly and calm manner, but the man's eyes gave off a fiery and intense gaze such that could melt metal and yet chill the blood in his veins at the same time while that gentle smile of his masked the fury roiling just beneath the surface.

The man's mere presence left Kazu shrinking a little to avoid that deadly stare if even a little.* Sheesh..what is with everyone giving me these death stares? Guess the old grump is still seething over my little stunt.* Thinking this as he let out a weak, nervous laugh." What? No, of course not. I would never dare do something so rude." Responding with his left hand rubbing at the back of his head.

Hearing this soften the grizzled man's dangerous smile, clearly pleased to see that his ward understood what was expected of him." I'm glad to see you agree. As you would not wish to deprive some unfortunate lovely young lady an opportunity the chance of dancing with such a striking gentleman and with it have all of lady Agatha's lesson go to waste, yes?" The older gentleman asked to further let his words sink in as anything else might earn him worse punishment come tomorrow, the iron grip tightening against his shoulder.

The painfully hard grip and honey sweet words hiding his wrathful intent both had Kazu wincing. A pert nod of the head along with a nervous gulp as he turned his attention to the servant standing there waiting, seemingly enjoying the ominous exchange." Yes...it would truly be heinous and cruel of me to deny a lady a dance. And certainly not during such festivities where everyone has been most anticipating...to ruin one's evening would be most disrespectful of me." The words spilled from his tongue like prettied vomit. It churned his stomach having to talk such pleasantries and before long would have to spew an onslaught of lovely praises to whatever woman he found himself partnered with.

With the most forced grin a man could give, Kazu reached out grabbing a parchment, unfurling it to see the number thirteen and felt his face shift into turmoil. Here he had hoped to get a lower number so he could get the dancing done with quicker; not to mention that going so late meant better chance of others remembering the dance. Going from reuniting with an old friend back from the grave to this...whatever joy he had previously was instantly replaced by dread.

A pat to his shoulder pulled him from the encroaching despair threatening to pull him under to be drowned." A fine number you have chosen there. I shall be most anticipating your dance and do be sure to be on your **best behaviour**." Asteroth finished with that cool smile those last two words dripping with venom then gave his shoulder another pat before strolling off to join the other nobles who would be observing the dances.

Kazu stood there holding the strap of paper in his left and bottle of wine in his right with a look of defeat on his face." I feel like I got played....yeah I most definitely got played...and royally." A dejected sigh, he turned the bottle chugging the rest down in one gulp to soothe his wounded pride.

It truly was the perfect night for drinking. The moon shiningly brightly and a gentle breeze billowing softly, it's cool touch soothing against Kazumin's slightly flushed and heated face. Half a bowl of pudding remaining still and bottle of wine nearly empty save for one last mouthful which he chose to put off drinking for the moment as he turned the bottle in his hand letting the contents swirl within." Hmph...already done with this one and still barely feel a buzz, but this wine pairs quite nicely with the pudding." Nodding his appreciation; preparing to finish the bottle off when he heard the door open and footsteps from behind causing him to pause for a moment though made no attempt to turn around for regardless of who it was, nothing was going to keep him from enjoying his quiet evening.

He paid the unknown individual little attention; too busy admiring the view of the town/forest illuminated by the moon as he lifted the bottle to his lips once more. Only to hear a voice speak up having him stop short upon being asked if his name was Kazumin. A curious raise of the brow as he let off an amused chuckle." I am indeed, Kazumin yes. Didn't expect to come across anyone at this ball who know me." A small shake of the head as he moved to down the last of the wine. Before he could swallow, however, he came to realize that the voice sounded very familiar but there was no way she of all people would be at some noble party...right? And then he suddenly felt a scathing glare directed at him sending a chilling shudder down his spine as dread suddenly surrounded him like the cold and ominous embrace of death threatening to engulf him.

Doubt, uncertainty washed through him as he turned his head partway and from the corner of his eye caught sight of a person he knew all too well. The next thing he knew he was doing a spit take sending wine spraying over the balcony then spun around on the spot until his back and hands were resting against the railings leaving him the appearance of a trapped animal. He stared in disbelief, but no matter how much he tried to deny it, there stood Persephone with her arms crossed and the sole harsh glare that always left Kazu feeling self-conscious and regretful; a feat no one but this woman could accomplish.

The bitterness in her voice did not go unnoticed either and merely hearing her speak to him in a way only given to those unfortunate enough to have angered her had his face turning almost sickly pale." P-Percy?! What the bloody hell are you doing here?" The confused blonde exclaimed incredulously; eyes wide with disbelief and horror, horror at the fact the woman who detested nobles even more than he not only here, but seeing him dressed like one.

A wide array of emotions was swirling within him at this moment. Shock, fear, shame, guilt and happiness but the strongest of these emotions he felt as he gazed at Persephone's face was relief.

After being left to think and assume her dead as he had not seen her since disappearing on that horrifying night of the fire. Even having her staring at him with that bitter expression did nothing to lessen the relief and happiness he was feeling and the way the light of the moon gave that scrutinized face a surprisingly beautiful glow which soften its stinging blow.

And while Kazu was one who did not care much for hugs or most physical touches, his first thought was to run over and hug his oldest friend and may have done exactly that were it not for those icy, bitter daggers she was shooting him. Then her second question finally sunk into his head.* Shit...shitshitshit. Of all places to run into her it had to be at this damn ball. Ok, don't panic. Just remain calm and greet her like anyone would greet a friend.*

In an attempt to try and come off as looking chill he had shifted into a relaxed pose with his elbow resting against the railing with the side of his head resting against his lifted palm. His right hand moved to point the index finger with thumb up and in the forced suave voice he could manage." Suuuuuuup guuuuurl." He meant to follow that with a wink, but even he felt the sheer cringyness of what he just did causing his face to turn red with embarrassment, only for it to get worse as his elbow slipped out from under him causing him bang his face against the railing from a sudden bout of humiliating clumsiness aided a bit from the wine.

The humiliated farmboy rubbed at his face.* Ugh...god that was awful.* He thought then instantly followed up with." Ugh....it really was. Can we pretend none of what just happened took place, yeah?" Asking this before standing back up where he would rub at the back of the head." Let's try this again shall we? So...right, I can explain though it's a bit of a long story, but before I do I want to make this clear, I am not a noble. You know I'd never willingly choose to be one of them stuck up and snobby elitist." Nodding his head while waving both hands in front of him in an awkward manner along with letting out an uncomfortable laugh.

Tristan instantly felt stupid upon hearing what the farmhand said, having just made one of the first mistakes a rookie investigator could make. He turned his head rebuking himself for being stupid enough to go showing the only piece of evident he got his hands on though hearing the farmhand mention having caught himself on the fence before meant that it could also just belong to the staff who had an unlucky scrape.

Taking a moment to gather himself while making a mental note to be more careful in the future." ahem...yes, well. You seem like a trustworthy fellow and if you were one of these thieves you would be more reserved with your answers, no?" Trying to recover from his blunder while nodding his head as he let the man carry on with explaining the length the egg thieveries have been occurring.

And what the man stated struck him as peculiar." so, you're saying these thieves have been active for weeks and yet even with cameras that none of their activities been caught and recorded?" There were a number of possibilities. That there was a blind spot or that they indeed had a partner among the staff turning the cameras off during robbing attempts then there was the possibility of this unknown group having a skilled hacker among them. Any one of these could be their method, but he lacked clues and information to bother musing on this any further and put such thoughts aside for now." Let us be off then and with the perspective of a person not involved with the ranch may lead to gaining some new results from these videos." With a nod of his head, Tristan followed after the farmhand, his curiosity and intrigue for the case growing by the second.

Completely ignored and rejected....

The young blonde remained in place with head bowed and arms raised only to have his offer rejected by the sultan. And just like that he was forgotten as a number of people kept crowding around the sultan. This ended up becoming incredibly awkward for him and as if things weren't bad enough; now both Duke Lorenzo and lady Thea had broken down crying.* Well shit....should of stopped when the grumpy bastard warned me. What a waste.* He thought with a disappointed sigh though to know that Charlotte was safe from Layla at least lifted his mood a little, not that it mattered since the duke and Thea breakdowns made things impossibly depressing.

Seeing as he had no more reason to be out here nor could do anything and so Kazu quietly stood up to give a bow to Alidasht concession then to king Edin. No one paid him any heed as he did so. Which was more than fine with him if it meant him, and his nonsensical approach be forgotten; it also made slipping away easier as he made his way to the dining table once more.

Upon reaching the tables and no longer in view of everyone did he allow himself to let out a relieved sigh while hunching his shoulders." Woof...talk about rough. But hey...no cell or head chopping for this guy." Waving both thumbs pointed at himself with a short awkward laugh; no one still paying him any mind and who could blame them with what was going on out on the main floor still. Turning back to see the depressing sight and frowned as he found himself feeling guilty. For as disappointed as he was not getting to tell his tale, but after seeing Lorenzo on the floor a crying, broken man that it was probably best to not go telling a story that would have put the man down when the poor guy was already beaten enough as is.

Then there was the state Thea was in; distraught and frantic as well and from the things he heard her say as he slinked away seemed to point to her being unlikely to party or drink again anytime soon.

Letting his gaze roam over until his eyes locked with Asteroth and saw fury in the Baron's eyes directed at him. A harsh stare promising plenty of choice words for him later after this party was over. Kazu turned away letting his arms hang.* Just fantastic. I see extra lessons for a week in my future and probably lost the drinking buddy I almost made.* This party had become a real bust and waste of time in the end afterall. At this point maybe a few days in a jail cell might of been preferable; at least there he could actually get a break and relax.

Suddenly the sultan's voice rang out pulling him from his dour thoughts. He listened to the man proclaim Lorenzo's punishment; what was said was completely unexpected and took Kazu off-guard especially having not expected the man to be this level-headed and merciful.

Never thought a king could be this lenient and certainly not from a kingdom of overly prideful royals at that. In one fell swoop he felt great respect for the sultan followed by immense for laughing at the man, the rest though he had no qualms laughing at. And he couldn't very well go and apologize to him for laughing at him, but Lorenzo and Charlotte he would make sure to apologize at the first opportunity he got while making it up to the sultan...well that was going to take some more thinking.

Now that the punishment had been made and the incident dealt with, the festivities were able to resume. Before long the music began once more which alluded to one thing...dancing. Even thinking that word sent an unpleasant shudder down his spine as he was far from graceful hence why he only did so when plastered.

He had already embarrassed himself enough for one evening and was in for some harsh reprimanding by night's end because of it. Like hell he was going to give these prudes who thrived off humiliation and drama any more ample enjoyment.

Taking a moment to peer around to room where he took notice of a set of balconies on both sides of the hall; one already occupied by two others. He did not want them to mistake his intention to be spying on them. Opting for a balcony on the opposite end, but before doing so he went over to where the booze was located where multiple bottles were set up and grabbed one then started towards the dessert table." On second thought..." Stopping short as he reached back swiping up a second bottle." Good to have back-up." He whispered to the bottle of wine then continued on towards the dessert to grab a bowl of delectable pudding and with a single glance could tell it was of far higher quality than any he had ever eaten." Oh, I'm definitely going to enjoy this bad boy." Instantly his mouth began to salivate in anticipation of this most wondrous treat.

After a quick check to make sure no one paying attention to him and only did so out of a bit of a paranoia. As no one here knew him save ser Asteroth, so the mere idea that any of these people cared about where he went was purely laughable.

Booze and pudding in hand, Kazu snuck off towards the balcony before people could start pairing up to dance. What luck to find the balcony empty and quiet, the perfect hideaway to drink and eat in quiet solitude.

" Finally! Some actual alone time for the first time in months!" An exasperated sputtering of the lips as he pushed the door shut with the back of his heel then cantered over to the railings, humming as he went where he then placed a bottle down on the floor next to his right foot. After making sure it wasn't too close he then leaned over the railing making himself comfortable, bottle of wine in his right hand and bowl of pudding set to his left on the railing.

" Here we are! Just me, some booze and a fine bowl of pudding with the lovely a view of the night sky and moon to enjoy it with." A pop of the cork with his mouth that was promptly discarded over the railing with a spat followed with a toast towards the sky." To your health and whatever other frivolities that go with toasting." A shrug of his shoulder as he turned the bottle to his lips taking a large sip, the mildly sharp fruity liquor soothing his parched throat and roiling pit of guilt nestled deep in his stomach.

The cool, fresh air and booze were just the remedy needed for the sickening weight in his stomach, his nose thanking him for being spared that sweetly scented smog of perfume as well." Ah...can just feel the stress, depression and disappointment melting away." Taking a deep, slow inhale of the crisp night air followed by another sip of wine as he gazed up at the sky where a scattering of clouds could be seen partially obscuring the moon, but enough light seeped through to illuminate the area enough for him to take in the gorgeous scenery before him. A small somber smile on his lips as he beheld nature's majesty a moment longer before pulling the bowl of pudding over and without adieu took a bite.

"..... God damn is this pudding good." He stated through muffled words while shedding a few tears. The pudding truly was indeed unlike anything he had ever tasted.
