Save for the strained and awkward farewells, the journey had been an easygoing and simple trek through the forest, eventually exiting and nearing the fairy kingdom.

The travel had proven to aid in Menzai's overall mood with some of the color returning to his skin from beneath the sun's warmth. The familiar scents and sounds of nature were always therapeutic for the wolf still recovering. He relished the quiet and solitude as he had watched the rear, mainly to keep from worrying the group; affording him time to think and contemplate. It was marginally easier without the family stress adding to the influenza of developments he had to work out.

Only that he could run across the trees and feel the wind brushing against his face. For a time, loss, flying alongside the birds as he leapt with confident strides, the trees his home, the sky the freedom cascading into a blinding gale of light.

That bright light that soon pulled Menzai from his calming fantasy, the ever-familiar kingdom praised for its natural beauty and love. And while relationships were somewhat strained, the Gauravs enjoyed visits, some more frequent.

And there was a time he was one of them. He looked on, what was once unending and breathtaking beauty had been fading to him. It was almost as if all the colors had become muted or slowly being washed out; whether that was merely how he saw it or something... more.

Menzai found his gaze shifting to Cyrus and then Phia, wondering about the effects the loss of the royal family truly was or if they had even started. It was then, at that moment, he would take notice of Phia staring ahead lost in her own thoughts.

This was far from her first visit and disappointedly so, her memories did not return. Things were different, now, however, with her siblings with them. He could only hope traveling with them long enough may help break whatever may be blocking her progress.

He could only ask so much patience.

"Well, we're here." Phia announced softly to the others and turned to smile at them. "I suppose Sunny and I could work on making some friends with the wildlife in the area..." Her gaze slid to Cyrus. "Do you speak with fauna as well?"

Before Cyrus could answer, Menzai had stepped forward raising his right hand to get the group's attention." Pardon the interruption, Phia, but before this conversation continues, there are some things I wish to put forward."

A small appreciative bow of his head before shifting partway towards Cyrus." I wish to remind the group, that while we are here for some fun and relaxation, we are also here to help Sir Cyrus in search of their siblings." Pausing briefly to glance at each fairy as if seeking something." If I am to assume this is to be done discreetly, then let me suggest we do so under the guise of the rings. Until we can get a better understanding of the situation, keeping our identities secret might be for the best." A glance at Dante and Darius, the two he was most concerned about regarding this.

Motioning then towards Cyrus." As such, I must ask two things of you before we continue. First, since asking through names proves too risky, are there any recognizable nicknames or signs we may search by? Secondly, if you own any of their belongings, with it, I will be able to memorize their scents, affording me greater potential and ease at tracking them down." Nodding his head, letting his questions sink in before holding up a finger." Please remember that even my senses have its limits. And, the chances they may be in this kingdom or nearby are minuscule, but I will do my best to. That is; if you are willing to share such personal information."

Leaving it there to let Cyrus think about his requests, he then turned to the others to see if they wished to add anything.

The slicked-haired blonde strutted his way inside with a confidant stride, the lone cowlick bouncing in tandem, the world around him his. A wide-toothed grin; humming the recent upbeat tune as he strolled up to the front desk/podium.

The waitress smiled, "Welcome to the Morning Blossom Cafe! My name is Mingyu and I am so pleased that you’re here. Are you here for the courting event or simply a table for one?"

Strolling to a casual stop while throwing his right elbow up to rest on the podium, then shifted into a light, friendly lean. “Well, a fine howdy do, Ms, Mingyu was it?” Tilting his head, right index finger sliding the shades down to get a better gander at the lovely miss, forgetting the missing lens. “A courting event you say?” A quick immediate, scan of the surrounding area with bright chocolate almond eyes; taking note of a few familiar faces. “That would surely explain all the lovely gents and lasses, odd you’re not amongst them wait, no more a pity..love the name by the way.” A glinting wink as the shades were nudged back over his eyes, a faint jaunty hum.

She giggled, “Oh you’re very charming! You’d have me in the palm of your hands… Now, how can I help you today, sir?”

An audible, somewhat bashful sniff at the compliment.” Shucks miss. Looks like I’m not the only one with a sweet tongue here.” He chuckled playfully, nodding at her question.” And you can help me, with a vocal tour of said event and some potential highlights? And…” Pursing his lips, pondering, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the counter.” Feel free to get creative with it.” Wriggling his right hand’s fingers in a silly pizzazz manner as he suggested.

Mingyu blushed and covered her mouth as a fit of giggles left her lips. “Well! We are arranging randomized dates so that everyone has an opportunity to meet someone new during the courting event. She gestured to a bowl. We have some numbers in here. Simply select one and head to the table, and you may find a pretty lady waiting for you. This is all of course if you’re interested in such a thing…Do pray tell?” She smiled and added, “If romance isn’t in your cards then I will simply seat you somewhere comfy and assist you with finding something absolutely scrumptious to eat!” Her gaze slid to Roman and Olivia and she smiled as she watched her shovel food into her mouth. “The food is absolutely divine here. You won’t be disappointed.”

Lightly bobbing his head to the music playing in the cafe as he listened to Mingyu kindly explain the current going-on. The grin on his face widening as if merely delighted by the waitress energetic speech, but mores o the captivating lady shamelessly scarfing food catching his eye. A look of pure glee; containing the fit of snickering that suddenly threatened just below the surface, straining to keep that charming face.* Holy cornhole! It’s percy….on a date...tell me I didn't overdose on sugar...* He thought with incredulous amusement. The mere idea would have been scoffed at.

And yet, there she was. Being a blushing, awkward mess the wonderful cherry on this glorious dessert.” Uno momento, Mingyu, apologies.” holding up a finger; closing his eyes and inhaling slowly both to inhale the wondrous aroma of mouth-watering food, feeling and savoring the sensation of eating the snocone all over again.” Mhm, lovely….”

Quickly noticing he muttered that out aloud and moved to cover up with a cough.” I mean, yes!” Said with an enthusiastic thump against the podium.” That’s just the kind of spirit and energy sure to draw customers. Ya do a fine job making it tempting, fine miss, especially after seeing that.” Motioning towards the same said couple.* Oh yes, she is never gonna live this down.*

Mingyu parted her lips to speak, but an interruption filled the air: “Hi sweetie! Remember me! …Want some toast?!” She looked over to see a blonde woman waving.

A raise of the brow, the voice, familiar though not one he could instantly recall. The promise of toast, however, was an offer he would never refuse (knowingly) and turned his attention in their direction. His face lit up with recognition.” Dahling~!” Kazu called out, giving her and her grumpy companion a fluttery wave of his fingers.” Looks like toast is on the table. And that’s the table I shall have, if you please, Miss Mingyu?” Said the grinning kazu, finishing with a snap-finger gun.

“Go on and enjoy.” Mingyu said with a smile, handing him a menu.

Taking the menu with a casual, sly tug of the corner in an attempt to come off cool only for the bandages cause it to slip, where it drifted slowly to the ground..” Thank ya kindly. And Mingyu, have a fantastic day.” Said with a dazzling smile.

Sauntering off towards the vacant table, whistling hoping he pulled off the suave finish, wincing internally when the menu finally landed, making an audible sound.* Fuckin mule! So close! Hnngh!* A small huffy inhale as he went; grabbed and spun the nearest chair before dropping down, fingers drumming against the table, matching his humming.

Delilah threw her arms around him as she gave him a hug in greeting, “ Hey Kazu! …What are you doing here? Looking for a girlfriend are ya?” She teased.

His face visibly crinkled at the suggestion as he let out a low oof from the abrupt hug.” Dearie me, no, Dahling. I’m here for the toast of course!” A dismissive wave of the hand, his other used to return the hug.” I see you had first-class view of our lovely Olivia and her…*courting*. Won’t you please join me, where we may gossip between toast?” Motioning towards the empty seat, a devilish, giddy grin.

Tristan Glory

"Oho? Another shiny? You're just full of surprises."

A compliment Tristan would have reveled in, but pressure of the grovyle left the teen too tense and focused to really pay attention to Ramos words.

Said tension only worsened as the old man made his move though what he did merely left Tristan confused, with the haze and this detect having no real physical sign of it. And just like that Grovyle destroyed their plans.

Tristan felt his anxiety rise with a hint of panic starting to bubble. A moment to catch his breath was needed, but this was a battle and, unfortunately, his opponent proved to be quite the fast one as neither King nor Tristan expected the Grovyle to appear so suddenly in front of it, as if bursting out of thin air, at least to the inexperienced rookie.

Oppressive and fast." Oh arceus!" Tristan cried out in shock, panic etching his meticulously maintained beautiful face. It was too fast, the teen cursed internally; given no real chance to think up a plan, having to scramble with the first thing to come to mind.

" Tsk! Q-quick! King, use feather dance but aim them at Grovyle's face then try to use quick attack to get away!" Bellowed Tristan, sweat glistening on his forehead, worsening by the second. He could only hope that King can react in time to blind or throw it off in time in the hopes of an opportunity to get away.
Tristan Glory

Tristan could only stand and wait with abated breath; hands up covering his face to protect against the wind and leaves being kicked all about.* Holy Arceus! Angel?! My hair!* The teen mentally screamed with panicked anticipation.

Then the clash ended and with it, the swirling leaves died down leaving Tristan stunned in place. He had not expected such a move to occur, and it wasn't until he heard the beep of his pokedex signaling an alert.

Angel is now level 11!
The combination of Rapid Spin and Leafage created a new move. Would you like to name it?

As the voice spoke, Tristan felt his mind return; shocked at not only having such insane results. Incredulously, somehow seemed to have led him to create a combination move? This, combined with the sight of Angel standing victorious; made all the better upon seeing Loise's annoyance at having his suit dirty his suit. The teen might have smirked about it, if his attention wasn't on the field, though he did feel for the suit, dreading the mud seeping into the fabric.

With this, Tristan found himself in an unexpectedly advantageous situation, his opponent was already down to their last and he still had his full team. And yet, still, Tristan couldn't bring himself to cheer or brag in his usual manner.

He should be celebrating and cheering Angel on, but Ramos's lax attitude, even now had him standing anxiously as nervous beads of sweat dripped down his face, then the older gentleman spoke.

"Oh ho? How interesting. Maybe my instincts were right about you, sprout. Don't celebrate just yet. The real fight starts now."

Ramos last words left Tristan tensing up; hands balling up, almost as if he could feel that this final Pokemon would be different. As such, he could not bring himself to respond, his throat too dry.

And much like the fear the silver-haired teen felt was soon proven warranted as Ramos's Grovyle revealed itself, but immediately something was different. Tristan's concerns weren't over as he soon got the prompt on Raid Boss, who was now amped-up on some grass seed buff?!

" ....The hell old man!?" Spluttered the exasperated teen, who had since lost track of new techs and capabilities of pokemon. And now he had that monstrous, yet intricately cool grass mon; one he would admire were it not about to shred his team to pieces.

At least that was how it appeared to Tristan. Gulping, Tristan tried to think on how to proceed. Sticking with Angel was a bad idea as she was probably winded from going so hard on the spinning and the match-up. But it would mean giving up Angel's buffs and grass type defense buff.

He appreciated Ramos giving him time to plan out his next move, as the Grovyle was definitely overwhelming for the inexperienced newbie trainer. Regardeless, Angel needed a break; after some more contemplating, while scanning the field.

One thing was clear, a direct confrontation was not going to work, especially against such a buffed grovyle. And its speed would likely be terrifying too.

With these thoughts in mind, Trista decided on a multi-step plan." Hmph, about time someone recognized my skills." A moment's pause to enjoy the compliment." And neat trick with this raid boss surprise, but unfortunately, this time you're up against a Glory, and when this is over you will all revel in mine!"

The teen responded in challenge before holding out Angel's Pokeball." Wonderful job, Angel. Get yourself a breather." After recalling Angel, he swapped and called out the glittering Magenta bird, King!

A red beam followed by frantic chirping upon being hit by Grovyle's intense presence." I know things look scary, king. But don't worry I got a plan." King gave a fierce cry, showing his confidence against the overwhelming odd before the small bird.

Determined, the two were ready to go." Quick, King! Use Haze to obscure the field and use it as cover to hide, use the covering to try and hit Grovyle with feather dance! Most of all avoid getting too close for now!" Giving his orders, straining to maintain a brave face, the sweat and nervousness in his eyes betrayed such attempts.

The morning light crept in, bathing him in its burning glow. A faint itch to his eye-lids stirred the blonde from sleep;

That itch then turned into burning and as Kazu further awakened, he felt a painful ache from his hands. The sudden jolting pain from both forced his body to burst upward, only to feel something hard and metallic smack the top back of his head.

A slew of loud curses and metallic clanging of tins and kitchen equipment being knocked over.” Ah ya bloody fuckwit! Ya *beep* *beep of all the stupid *beep* *beep* you son of a mule’s *beep beep beep*”

The string of insults flung at the sun and whatever else caused him such an unpleasant way to wake up. With a pained grunt, Kazu plopped back down against the stack of boxes he had been propped against, the overcoat lying to his left, seemingly having been draped over him like a blanket.

” Whoever said a sunshine’s kiss is a blessing can kiss my mule's ass.” He grumbled with a derisive scoff; gingerly touching the small lump now formed on his head, immediately regretting doing so as he was reminded again of his hand’s soreness.

“ Ach! Shucks sakes! Fuck!” Sitting upright to check and inspect his hands, where he would see they were red and still partially wrinkly leaving them sore and raw to the touch.

A sudden montage of intense, nonstop dishwashing and endless piles of filthy dishes while quick glimpses of the head server shouting at him; insults or instructions, the confused and tired farmboy could not differentiate.” So..much..scrubbing. No more…”

A shuddering gasp left his lips as the montage ended leaving him sitting there shaking with an incredulous expression from what truly tarnished his mood.” ….of all the things to get a montage on and it gets wasted on washing dishes…”

The cowlicked farmer groaned lamentingly at the lameness of this morning’s start. At this point almost preferring he had woken up from a drunken bender over this.

As he worked to rub the sleep from his eyes and get himself reoriented; taking in the kitchen around him. A few seconds later he remembered that he was at the snow-cone shop and the memories of last night soon poured in upon the realization.

Recalling something about Leo's watch, though he had no interest in that, Kazu's attention shifted to Calbert approaching and cornering Olivia (Percy). He was torn between wanting to help her and feeling bitter about the risks involved. Ultimately, he decided to hang back and wait for an opportunity when she or Charlotte were alone.

Sadly, before that could be the case a certain head server had come into the picture. A hastily thrown-together disguise was seen through… who could have thought.” Tch, next time I see that silver-tongued Rat, I’ll be shoving the scrubbing brush down that vile cakehole of his!” Brandishing a scrub brush half his arm’s length, a devious smirk.

The sound of footsteps could be heard drawing towards the kitchen door, where Molly would poke her head in with a nervous.” Hello? If it’s you bleedin raccoons again, I promise to make pelts out of the lot of ya!”

A partially wrinkled hand rising would catch her attention followed by a frantic.” Whoa whoa! Not a coon, not a coon! I'd make for a awful pelt, I assure you!” and with the recognition, her concerned face relaxed. She pushed her way in; lit candle in her hand illuminating and revealing.” Heaven’s bells, hearing all that hollerin as I reached my shop!” Said with indignant annoyance.

Small metallic clangs as Kazu scrambled his way onto his feet; nearly tripping over a few trays while trying to make his way out of the minefield, ending up fumbling forward at the last hop over causing the blonde to stumble, nearly smacking into the table beside her.” Hah...ha ha…sorry about the shouting…and fright and..” Trailing off as some more clanging rang out from another stack of tins falling over.

The clanging sound like a harsh gong reminding him of the mess.” Uh-heh, sorry about all this ma’am…and…Yeeee…I’ll clean that up.” Kazu said, laughing nervously, genuinely feeling bad for causing trouble for Molly.

As he moved to do so, Molly took notice of the state of Kazu’s hand and let out a weary sigh before grabbing him by the shoulder to stop him.” Now enough of that ma’am nonsense and don’t fret about this. I’ll have my boys get this later, you sit.” She demanded forcing him to sit on the nearest stool.

-20 minutes later-

“ There, that should do it.” Smiled Molly proudly as she finished cleaning and bandaging up his hands.” Go on and give us a test, hon.”

Kazu gave her a nervous glance before tentatively flexing his fingers and while there was a slight stinging still, otherwise was fine.” Oh thank butters….they feel so much better!” He exclaimed with a big, relieved sigh.” You’re an angel Molly just like momma Naga and like momma Naga saids, always show yer thanks with expression matching how grateful one is.”

Confusion etched the woman’s pudgy face; when Kazu stood up and without warning hugged the woman.

“A-ah. Well you’re quite the affectionate one. Don’t get boys sweet like you around here much.” Molly said with a smile, the sadness in her eyes saying more.

After letting the hug continue a little longer with a pat to the back, Kazu pulled back with that big stupid grin of his.” A simple fix, I’ll just be sure to visit more and bring my sweetness with me..heck I got plenty to spare for them delicious snocones too.” Joked Kazu, doing the am I pretty face, his eyes fluttering in a silly obnoxious manner.

The woman almost let out a snort as she clapped the table, laughing.” Hah! Appreciate the offer, but I fear any sugar from you may give even the sturdiest customer a sugar overdose.” Giggled the older woman as she moved to sit down with Kazu offering an arm if she needed it.

“ You jest there, Molly, but if you’ve seen the amount of pudding and snacks I’ve eaten…” Pausing as he looked himself over then playfully poked his cheek.” It makes me sometimes wonder if my body isn’t just sugar at this point.” He scratched at his head; pondering whether to try licking his arm or not.

“ Pfft….what a strange fella you are, Kazu. Keep being that sweet boy you are.” Her right hand reaching up to give his cheeks a pinch.” Do try to ease up on that erraticness a tad and the screaming.” Advised Molly, though given with a comforting pat to her hand.” And if you need to rest here for a bit, seeing by the state of your hands you’ve had a long night.”

Her words meant to be comforting, but merely reminded him of the nightmarish sink hell.” Please..I don’t even want to think about soap or anything to do with sinks.” His body shuddered from the horror.

His reaction brought a mixed smile of amusement and pity.” Yes, no more talks of such, sorry dear. I did tell you not to worry about the cleaning.” She frowned, recalling coming across the tired blonde as she had been on her way home. He seemed to have spent some time already having to clean dishes and so didn’t want to make things worse for the lad.

A dismissive wave of a bandaged hand.” Bah! I was just holding up the promise I made. At least here I got to enjoy the shop’s fruity scents instead of having insults spat at me by a rat-faced piece of fuc- crapface.” Biting his tongue, not wanting to speak vulgar around Molly...well anymore than already had this morning.

" What do you intend to do when you leave?” She asked with a curious brow.

Kazu let his body slump against the table with a tired yawn.” Ugh…talk about a loaded question there, er… but none of it got’s nothing to do with ya or this shop so best I don’t talk about it."

Hearing this had Molly frown with worry.” Sounds like you have gotten yourself in some trouble. Are you sure you don’t want to talk about it, hun?”

Just seeing the woman concerned over him was enough as he shook his head.” Thanks, but it’s something we're gonna have to work out ourselves and don’t worry, Mol, I got friends to help me…though.” His grin lessened as he recalled Charlotte and Olivia (Percy) leaving him burying his face in his bandaged hands.” Whew…things are pretty rough though, I ain’t gonna lie. Got to thank good old count Calbert for most of it.”

The mention of the count’s name left Molly visibly stiffened and nervous only to realize shortly after tried to relax but found her hands fidgeting a bit.

Her reaction hardly went unnoticed and it was his turn to give her hand a comforting pat.” I won’t bring my problems onto you or this boardwalk.” Giving a reassuring squeeze to her hand as he said this.

His hand pulled away with an air blowing sputtering from his lips.” Guess I should try to find said friends to make sure they’re ok and to meet up later.” Pondering this aloud, when his stomach gave a long drawled out rumble.” Oh damn. Tummy is very not happy….better get food before it starts yodeling and you do not want tummy to yodel...trust me.” Shaking his head with a sharp, small chop motion to get across the seriousness of this.

His mind decided, Kazu spun on the stool and hopped onto his feet and started his way to the backdoor when Molly cleared her throat.” Oh! One moment before you go.”

He skidded to a stop by the door and spun around on his left heel; sweeping up the overcoat he left discarded and gave the coat two flicks then slipped it on after shaking off the wrinkles and undoing his sleeves still hiked up to avoid getting wet.

As he was finishing up, Molly approached offering a freshly made sno-cone.” Ooh! Brekky cone!” Exclaimed Kazu who happily took the offering.

“ This treat should hold you over for a bit. You be careful out there, alright? And if things look like they aren’t looking too good…” Holding off, unsure what to say before continuing.” Know that you and your friends will always be welcomed here.”

Kazu nodded appreciatively and gave her a small side hug.” Thanks Mol, I’ll keep that in mind.” He said while making a hop towards the door and yet again spun on his heels, preparing to add more when he felt something against his left breast side; a quick fumbling had him procure one of the pair of shades he got from the beach and slipped it on.” And no need to fret. The count’s never had to deal with a farmer like me.” Said while folding his arms in an attempt of a cool pose, the sno-cone held like a gun.

He held that pose aiming to pull off the cool departure only for the right lens of his shades to pop out.* Aw yeah, killing it Kazu.* Flashing her that dopey dazzling smile and a finger gun snap, the cowlicked blonde backed his way outside.

Turning suddenly on his heels to then let out an exaggerated sigh akin to a deflating balloon as most of the spunky energy he forced melted away much like the sno-cone dripping down his fingers. Using his free hand to rub at his forehead, thinking back to his friends and the trouble or stress they could be in.

At least he was freed of the strain of keeping face and the partially gloomy weather felt almost appropriately fitting with his current mood.

But he got a nice view of the beach and a sno-cone, plus the sight of seeing the few people enjoying themselves fishing, surfing and the like.

Allowing himself a moment to take in the scenery and inhale the salty air and with it came clarity.* No point fussing over things you can’t do anything about right now.* And with that thought in mind, Kazu felt his mood improving; for now finding Percy *grumble grumble* or something to fill his belly would do.

.* RUMBLE RUMBLE* Make that post-haste. The rumbling in his stomach would be made worse by a strong waft of delicious scents coming from somewhere not too far from the beach, a single whiff left Kazu drooling like a waterfall.” Settle down you gluttonous behemoth. Here, I got just what tummy needs.” Rubbing at his belly he slowly and delicately brushed his tongue along the icy treat wanting to savor the first lick.

As he began walking along the deck,A pop of syrupy fruity goodness struck him, spurring him to take another lick then another. Then as his foot stepped down, the world around him gradually turned into a sugary treat wonderland spreading from his foot.

A sugary rush flooded his body as he continued, his walking transitioned to light hops as he began humming, losing himself to the sugary magic taking hold.

Oh, that sweet-sweet taste, can't escape

Just lick and crunch
It's a sugar spin
A rainbow bite
That grin's a win
Flavor buzz
Every drip, every drop (yeah, yeah)
Got that pop, make it rock
Gimme swirls, gimme twirls
In this candy-coated world
[Hook]
We go lick, we go crunch
Every color, every punch
Sweeter than a hunch
This melody we munch
Melting beat, feel the rush
In this sugar we trust
Gimme sticks, gimme cones
Every burst, all the tones
Sugar high, not alone
This vibe's heavy, like stone
Flashes bright, neons gleam
Taste the rainbow, supreme
Every lick, a new scene
In this candy, we dream

A furry image suddenly came into view causing Kazu to freeze mid hop, the candy world dissipated around him. Instead, he was looking at a wolf casually lounging outside some kind of cafe.

The Blossom Cafe, the source of the smell that the cowlicked farmer had unconsciously found himself led. The trip spent with him humming and dancing to his own tune and his tasty treat gone with only the blue and red stain around his mouth left.” Ooh-ooh! a wolf! Dont think this is one of those Alidasht pets…seeing as it’s not currently flirting with anything that walks or complaining.” He said snickering.

He wanted to pet the wolf, of course but refrained from doing so.” Only for the time being..just wait, I’ll bring somet-” Hands slipping into his pockets as he spoke, where he would find…nothing.” I...don’t know why I expected anything different.” There went any chance of dining in such a fancy establishment.

“ I don’t, however need money for a bathroom trip.” Kazu said, scheming with a rub of his chin.* Just pop in and state you’re using the loo, make distractions and once distracted I’ll grab a steak or whatever meat they got..* Pausing his thoughts as he looked back at the wolf during mid-think.* Make that three.* He needed a light snack after-all or the cafe could find themselves with two hungry beasts.

Before Kazu could make his way inside, had caught sight of his reflection.” Yeesh, I look a dirty bum.”

Stepping to the side of the building where Kazu spent the next couple minutes using the bits of sprinkling rain to wash off his face and hair.

Returning to outside the entrance, a satisfied sigh as he came to a stop besides the wolf yet again.” Ta-da! Now I'm a clean bum! Get that soft fur ready, my new soon-to-be canine pal, give me fifteen minutes.” Pausing to slip the one len shades back over his eyes.” when I step out, we be feastin." Nodding with a thumbs up to the wolf, doing all this whether the canine acknowledged him or not.

“ You’re probably wondering how some cowlicked scrub could pull it off. Simple… Confidence!” A rumble came from his stomach as if in agreement with this plan (any plan that got it food would work at this point). Kazu gave an excited snap of his fingers as he flicked the overcoat he removed to be draped over his left shoulder, the first step of his plans.

A whistling merry tune as he strolled his way in with a vibrant confidant stride, giving off the cocky importance with a bit of rich brat attitude mixed in.

Menzai listened to the group in silence, his clawed fingers delicately resting against his chin, as if pondering deeply. Yet, his true intent was to obscure his face from prying eyes. The long haori sleeve normally covering the hand pulled down, the bracelet resting against his wrist.

A battle of consciousness raged within him; at times, the faces of his companions blurred, whether from fatigue or minor hallucination, he couldn't discern. Nonetheless, he pressed on, focusing intently as Cyrus voiced his concerns about searching for his family members.

Menzai furrowed his brow, chiding himself for the obvious slip-up, especially with one of the fairy siblings present, blissfully unaware.

The way they parted did not sit well with the wolf. He felt the need to reconcile this, and soon.

As the brothers received their commendation, despite the awkward and tense atmosphere, they managed to retain some of their spirited nature. Menzai felt a mixture of pride and gratitude for their progress in training, yet a tinge of sadness crept in as he observed them becoming too absorbed in it. It underscored the challenge of finding a balance in teaching others—a task he hoped to tackle when his mind was clearer.

Phia's delighted reaction to Menzai's approval was hardly unexpected, though it amused him nonetheless. He had always been a protective brother, a trait that only seemed to strengthen over time, albeit with some easing of his initial strictness.

Watching the brothers' similar reactions only added to the amusement. As agreement permeated the group, a sense of relief washed over them, dispelling the earlier somber mood.

This marked a promising beginning. Departing the village soon seemed imperative, especially with the escalating chaos, if not already upon them. And then there was the Roc incident—an anomaly worth pondering, considering its unusual hunting grounds.

While the group bantered about fruit slush and enjoyed their camaraderie, Menzai delved into his thoughts, prioritizing his next steps.

After a period of introspection, Menzai cleared his throat to capture the group's attention. Standing up with deliberate slowness, he aimed to convey the gravity of his forthcoming words.

Taking a slow, deep breath to steady himself, he rested a hand on the table for support, his demeanor reflecting solemnity. "It appears we are all in agreement. I extend my gratitude to you, Phia, for this opportunity." he said, offering a brief nod of appreciation, recognizing its significance to him.

"Furthermore, we will be able to further to showcase the customs and wonders of our world to Sir Dante and Sir Darius," he added, acknowledging them with a similar nod.

With the lighter remarks concluded, Menzai closed his eyes, drawing another deep breath, finding solace in the rain's rhythmic patter against the glass. "As Sir Cyrus mentioned, caution is paramount in our search, which reinforces the necessity of sticking together. However, if recent reports hold true, tensions outside the village may have escalated."

Flashes and fragments of the execution haunted the brothers as Menzai struggled to find his voice. They deserved to know the full truth, and more. 'I-' His words faltered, caught in his dry throat once again.

Exhausted and drained, he couldn't bring himself to continue with what he had intended to say. Frustration tinged his clawed fingers as they faintly scraped against the table. It wasn't just the sight of human faces that hindered him; it was the innocence in Phia's eyes that made him hesitant to recount such a gruesome incident.

Menzai's internal struggle was evident to those around him, but with nowhere to safely direct his gaze, he turned his head away. His reflection in the rain-soaked window offered a vague outline at first, obscured by droplets. Yet, as the rain intensified, the images sharpened, revealing the individuals within the household.

Initially, this brought a fleeting sense of relief, until he noticed the spreading inky blackness, tainting the scene. A raspy chuckle grated against his ears, accompanied by unsettling visions of his family and friend engulfed in darkness. 'Do they suffer? The lies? The guilt?' The voice taunted, its eerie joy palpable. 'Tell them...their faces...how amusing.' Or face a banquet of grief and guilt.' The voice's vile words clawed at his mind, leaving Menzai torn between equally unsettling choices.

The window's glass abruptly turned an ominous shade of inky black, followed by a flash of menacing wolf fangs lunging towards him. Menzai recoiled, briefly wondering if it was a genuine threat or merely another hallucination. With his eyes closed, he couldn't be certain.

Upon reopening his eyes, he found the group gathered around the table, everything appearing normal once more. Relief flooded him, allowing him to catch his breath, though he remained slightly hunched over, still recovering from the shock.

Cursing himself internally for the lapse, Menzai stood up, his hand instinctively covering his face as he exhaled slowly. "I apologize." he murmured, his voice strained. He rubbed his tired eyes, admitting, "The recent incidents seem to have affected me more deeply than I realized. We can discuss this further, but for now, I need to excuse myself."

With a nod of his head and averted gaze to avoid their worried expressions, Menzai swiftly departed from the table, hastening to his bedroom despite his exhaustion.

Tristan was nervous and anxious as he watched the battle continuing to unfold and when the flickering glows from the flowers started had him tensing.

Only for it to falter shortly after, leaving the teen disappointed and frustrated.*Hngh! Why didn't it work? Ugh... guess it requires some special conditions?* Thought Tristan; irked by this fact, but this also meant there was something there and it was possible. He needed to figure out what it was that triggered the incident.

Something that he unfortunately had no time to focus on, amidst the on-going battle against a most rather aggressive Lombre. Contemplating whether to try again or not, when he saw Angel getting pushed back; indeed scaring him both from the shock and surprise at Angel's improved nimbleness.

With that bit exchange over, Tristan took a moment to release his breath, having not noticing doing so.

Though his initial plans failed and while Lombre was seemingly landing decent hits, he could see Angel was still in pretty good health, to his relief. And apparently faster?.* Was this a side-effect of the rapid-spin?* The perplexed teen thought. This was unexpected and showed just how little he knew about pokemon and how their moves worked. Then there was whatever Angel nearly pulled off; a feat they would definitely do.

"We still have the momentum! Use Mega Drain!"

The man's words caught Tristan's attention." Tch, we will see about that! Don't underestimate Angel's nimble beauty!" He called back in challenge.

Deciding to put off on attempting the leaves again, instead chose to take on a risk. With Angel's current state and taking into account Lombre's attack..." Don't worry about dodging, Angel! Instead charge and build up speed with rapid-spin and slam into that mega-drain with your all!" Tristan cried out, the teen clenching his teeth at knowingly having her take the hit.

But, if this worked out then the benefits might get him the edge needed.

The stoic wolf quietly sat at the dining table, the chatter, much like the mood had been low. The somber, soft rain outside occurred with poignant timing.

Two days have passed and things have not been pleasant in the slightest. The incident from the other night; a nightmare placed aside, though the events of the following day proved no better.

Leaving Menzai at the table, but out of familial obligation, his plate sitting uneaten saved for a single bite of toast, done to keep from worrying the other diners. And even that had proven too much for his current overly sensitive appetite. More precisely to say he had none.

Or at least, that had been yesterday; this morning, however, everything seemed repulsed him. Whether it be sight, sound or smells, like the freshly cooked meal his mother and Phia put so much effort into for them all, the sweetly scented flowers and fruits, the clinking and clattering of utensils or cups. The low chatter from whatever brief conversation that was had during this dreary morning.

Sickening. All of it, for each that he looked at, would only gain him glimpses and flashes of the execution. The acrid pools of blood drowning his senses, netting another revulsion in the pit of his stomach. A stench he was well accustomed to and normally would be unbothered, but what he witnessed and the fears that came about that recording.

A viewing kept private for the elders and select few eyes; appropriately decided with the village already narrowly avoiding an attack just days prior. He, much like his father knew of its contents, and it was one Menzai both detested and regretted, yet his oath left him no choice but to bear witness.

And now, much as the brothers, who for their own understandable reasons struggled to look at or talk to comfortably, was now shared by the wolf. A cruel irony and one he could not escape; being their teacher and having to observe them through training and such.

Through it all, Menzai could only picture them sharing Zora’s fate. Even as they sit at the table now, eating and jesting, to him they appear misshapen..broken. And not only them, but all the humans.

Averting his gaze gave him no comfort nor escape as their scents were a constant, unavoidable reminder that only made it more real; a boon to his canine senses in such circumstances. It was by no fault on their end.

There was seldom any comfort at this table or even in his own home. For just as it was difficult to see the brothers, his parents served no better.

The two, who did their best to be their usual hospitable selves, were struggling, his mother particularly so. The incident was still all too fresh in his mind; mother’s sorrowful, yet thankful wail at learning her son’s fate reverberated in his head at random times. A painful and shameful reminder that burned more harshly from personal reasons.

Then there were the fairy siblings. His horrible handling of that night’s situation and the request, which the two have so far, kindly agreed and kept. The wolf was grateful for this, though it made none of it easier and it greatly saddened him that he allowed his relationship with Phia’s blood family to start so poorly.

No matter where he looked; Menzai would merely see those currently in some form of conflict.

Trapped. In a room, surrounded by judging eyes, the reek of blood permeating from them and everything.

Never had he cursed a candle’s brightness; illuminating their faces. Reminding him.

And just as his appetite went, so too did his desire to sleep. The onslaught of nightmares made sure of that.

All these thoughts, fears and worries plagued Menzai’s exhausted mind, leaving him little else but to stare into his cup of water. Only there could he avoid their gazes, instead seeing his reflection.

Staring down at the mostly smooth surface, a visage stared back, those violet eyes normally sharp looked faded and a bit glazed over while heavy shadows contrasted starkly against the nearly sickly pale complexion.

The sight of his own disheveled visage staring back, the only distraction he had and as his mind filled with questions and uncertainties to the point of flooding, the realization came that this place..his home no longer felt…right.

His home. A place once of safety and comfort, now felt suffocating and small. It was then that he would take notice of the shadows. Like mere flickering wisps as first, but each passing secondly seemed to grow and envelope the room, almost as if a living mass.

Even with the crackling flames, the shadows encroached, swallowing up the surroundings slowly. Masses of thick tar like ink dripping and oozing across the table, down the floors. Eventually spilling over those surrounded by the table.

Phia banged her spoon over and over on the table with an enthusiasm that bordered on excessive, effectively halting all conversation in its tracks

A familiar raspy laugh started alongside a sudden pounding sound his head, his reflection rippling as the world around him was being swallowed up. With each pound heard had the laugh become harsher and louder and constricted his breathing more and more until he felt like his chest and ears were going to explode when-

"I have an idea."

Phia's words pulled him from the mental storm that had threatened to engulf him as his breathing returned to him. With it, shortly came recognition; remembering that they were merely eating breakfast.

Remembering as well that there was one at this table he could bring himself to look at. For while faces of those around him carried those wisps of shadows, Phia's alone shone bright like the candle, and much like the small fire, it was her trying to lift up the mood.

He would offer a smile were that he had the strength to or actual reason to do so. Still, he was thankful for any reason to not be left in his mind, where only confusion reigned.

"I think we should bring the fliers we made to River Fairy Kingdom to help Cyrus find his family. There are many fairies there, and rumor has it they have riverfruit slushes." Phia had longed to visit there more often, only successfully sneaking over there once or twice. Menzai always dragged her back and she had never been certain why. Nonetheless, her proposal hung in the air. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she continued, "Plus, Dante and Darius have been putting in so much effort during training sessions lately. It's high time we showed them a bit of fun."

Listening as the excitable Fair detailed her idea with an enthusiasm perplexing to have in this current mood. Seeing her speak confidently was uplifting.

The wolf spent the next minute doing some contemplating, his right forefinger gently tapping his cup at intervals as he did so. The idea of venturing to the fairy kingdom following the execution did not sit well with Menzai in the slightest.

" Hm, yes I suppose-" Cutting short as his voice came out rough; only now realizing just how badly parched his throat was leaving him needing to take a sip." Apologies, mhm. As I was saying, perhaps it is time we, as Phia suggests, pay a visit to the fairy kingdom. There, perhaps we may be able to help our guests." Motioning in their direction as he stated so.

His attention then turning to Dante and Darius as he thought over what Phia said regarding their training. Said training had become more intense, made harder by the banning of footwear and socks. As they were earth mages, Menzai sought to help improve their connection to the planet and to toughen their soles. As with the looming threat now hovering all the more, meant their growth needed to improve.

And training alone was not enough. They needed to gain experience that this forest, while could offer would be too slow and each passing day made the risks of attacks to the village all the more feasible.

As much as he wished to keep them all in Gaurav where they could be safe, it would only ever be temporary, just as it is keeping the full extent of the recording from the group. That, he knew keeping to himself would only serve to make friction, but for his mother and Phia's sake chose to wait until a better place and time to do so and this trip was just the opportunity.

Most of all, however, it was simply that Menzai could not feel comfortable being in the village.

He needed to get out.

" And I do agree. Sir Dante and Sir Darius have been making exceptional progress. And as I'm sure our guests are probably ready to set off as well. So I see no reason to allow some..as Phia kindly put it...fun." Pausing to read the reaction, taking note of his mother's excused absence, the sound of dishes being washed coming from the kitchen. A small bitter sigh left his lips.

Clearing his still somewhat throat." However, I must state one condition. If we are to make this trip and with the reports from yesterday, things may still be a bit...tense. As such, I must ask that we stay as a group upon reaching the kingdom, or in the case of separation to stay in pairs. If there are no qualms with this condition and whatever issues that may arise shortly that can be discussed, then the only thing left would be to prepare." A nod of his head, his piece done, leaving the table open to see what the others had to say.

Now he could only hope the River Fairy Kingdom was currently safe.

Tristan could only watch with anticipation and much like Angel, found himself confused at what happened with the leaves. Besides that, however, the Lombre was getting in the hits; more frustrating at the old man's caution around sing.

This left him to drop sing, at least for the time being, and with the battle still going, giving him no time to try to think on what he witnessed. Whatever the strange incident was, a risky path was visible.

Yet, Angel had already taken some hits and Tristan was still very much a rookie trainer. As expected, he was gulping nervously and frustrated at his opponents continued relaxed demeanor; perplexing to the silver-haired teen stressed and worried over Angel. Still, what he saw fascinated him and the way it pushed lombre back.

Something was definitely there, but yet not enough." We need more leaves." He muttered the thought allowed unknowingly, his hands clenching. The risks and uncertainties of what would even happen, that is assuming it even succeeds were enough to not put Angel through such a tough path

" Hngh..Angel, I know this will be hard, but trust me. For now get your distance then use leafage, try and summon as much leaves possible then give your strongest rapid-spin!" He relayed the orders, anxious to see what happens though if things looked too dangerous he was ready to tell Angel to stop.
Tristan Glory

The strategy worked though little damage was dealt with Angel looking a little worse off. Angel being a grass type was one good thing with the field buff working for her as well.

Ramos concerns for sing were right as Tristan could already see a good plan of action, but knew his opponent was expecting it. And Angel hardly looked like a pokemon really capable of dodging.

Clenching his hands, Tristan was trying to think on how to handle the Lombre aiming a knock-off, when he took notice of some of the loose leaves left behind. Quickly recalling one of Angel's move and with it a crazy idea.

His time short." Angel! Use rapid spin over your leaves and kick them up at Lombre to throw them off, if it works quickly follow up with a sing if not then try to use the flurry to land in a good hit!" Tristan relayed his order along with a back-up with hopes to at least deal a good blow.
