"You g-guuuuuyyyyyssss...." Kanashiko was starting to cry. "Pleeeeease stooooppp....I'm sorry for whatever I diiid..."
In front of her, her two best friends were having a magic brawl. Well, only one of them was treating it like a brawl. The other was treating it like a snowball fight.
"Whooo!" Persephone grinned, looking confidently at her opponent. Her hands were aglow with green and purple magic energy.
"Get over here so I can punch you!" Ruitsume's clawed hands were lit up with magic of their own, in a fiery orange color. "You're so annoying! We're having a battle here and you won't even take it seriously!" Ruitsume fired at Persephone a couple times.
"That's not true!" Persephone tsked, dodging her friend's magic attacks. "You don't have to be all angry and look all serious to take something seriously, you know!" She fired back twice as many shots as Ruitsume in half the time. Ruitsume was knocked down, but definitely not out. She clutched the grass beneath her in her fist, a deep scowl forming on her face. Persephone laughed in the meantime, unaware.
That is, until Ruitsume got back up.
"Ah, so you-....U-uh, hey, Rui, don't get so mad." Persephone blinked. "It's all cool...we're just playing..."
Ruitsume stood in front of her, absolutely seething. Disastrous magic energy was flowing from her very person, and her eyes lit up ferociously. The Grand Witch extended her hand out, and shot a bigger magic attack at Persephone, shaped like a spike. Persephone was impaled through the chest, and fell onto the ground.
Kanashiko began to wail, and Nakani desperately tried to keep the witch from creating a puddle around herself.
"Huh...?" Ruitsume seemed to snap out of her enraged state. She put a hand to her head. "Hey, Persephone, we should stop. I'm getting a headache, and I don't wanna....oh crap." It was just about then that Ruitsume saw Persephone bleeding on the ground in front of her, and heard Kanashiko's desperate sobs.
When Persephone sat up, she found herself in a white void of a world. Or, at least, her half was white. In front of her, the world blended into gray further down until the area right in front of her eyes was black with shadows.
"Nice to finally speak with you. Hopefully it'll be in person soon after this..."
Persephone stood up when she saw a small figure strolling out of the darkness. His eyes were black with red rings, and lit up until he got further out of the dark. He was a little demon creature with pink fur, and two tall ivory horns, one being slightly crooked at the top. He wore a cape and boots as well. Persephone recognized him, and smiled.
"Well, well. If it isn't the Master of the Demon Highlands himself, Kebaratsu. What business does a demonic pariah like yourself have with a fair maiden such as myself?" Persephone purred, eyeing the demon ruler carefully.
"I should have known you would already know me..." The Master chuckled. "You're one of the few beings out there who happen to be as knowledgeable or all-knowing as I..."
"What do you want? I kinda have to get back to my friends, you know." Persephone huffed. "I can hear Kanashiko crying her eyes out from here. Wherever 'here' is, anyway."
"Well, if you know who I am...they you probably know that I am ill. I am losing power because of a certain incident..." The Master replied calmly. "What I ask for...is a loan on yours. I want your assistance. I want someone as powerful as you, the first Grand Witch of the Eighth Reality, by my side..."
"Geez, you and your creepy obsession with witches." Persephone rolled her eyes. "You're slimy alright. A disgusting creature. No, I don't think I wanna be any closer to you than I am right now."
"Hmph....big talk from someone who has so much blood on their own hands..." The Master hissed. "You're just as horrible as I am, you know...maybe even more..."
"And yet, I'm still better at anything I do than you are." Persephone laughed. "Look, I haven't gotten angry at you so far, but you're beginning to encroach on that side of me. I really, really don't think you want that. After all, if we're so alike...you should know how bad that could be for you." A creepy grin began to stretch across her face.
"...Fine. I'll leave you." The Master growled angrily. "But I swear...you will give me your power. Just like I've taken it from so many in the past..."
"I'm tired of hearing you talk." Persephone rolled her eyes. She snapped her fingers.
"NYA!" Persephone sat up with a shout, breathing heavily. Ruitsume and Kanashiko stood over her. A certain goddess cat with flaming wings was on her knees next to her also.
"S-she's...not dead...?" Kanashiko choked back a sob when she saw Persephone getting back up.
"She'll be fine." Ammi nodded. "You got me out here before she got cold. That's really what mattered."
"Yeah...uh, so..." Ruitsume pulled a face of half annoyance and half sincerity. "...Sorry I kind of killed you, or whatever...you just really pissed me off. Try not to do that again. It sucks for everyone."
Persephone looked at all the people around her, and started laughing.
"It's fine! Everything is just fine, you guys!" Persephone cheered as she hopped to her feet. She pulled all three of the people in front of her into a hug (much to Ruitsume's utter aggravation), then turned around to see Michael and his family walking towards them.
"Heeeey! You're here! Hi!" Persephone waved at them enthusiastically.
"Who's he?" Ruitsume mumbled.
"He's that guy I keep saying should come visit us in our dimension! He's from...uh...a place!" Persephone exclaimed.
"A place?" Ruitsume facepalmed. "You don't even know where he's from...?"
"Please refrain from killing her again..." Ammi chuckled just a little. The whole situation with Persephone had reminded her of Sephie so much that she'd gone into a sort of trance.
"S-should I go to the corner?" Kanashiko whimpered. "I dunno if your friends want to meet someone as much of a mistake as I am..."
