Jake ran as quickly as he could, wondering what could have happened. He turned around a corner, sliding to a halt, axe in hand. He saw a pair of nobodies - one apparently having taken a bit of a beating - and several light warriors; one grown-up woman and several kids no older than Thomas. One girl was laid out on the ground, shivering, with a a boy and a girl trying to console her, and another badly wounded boy being cured by...

"Wait a second..." Jake took a good hard look at the one trying to cure the badly wounded boy. Sure, he had only seen Reno for a few minutes, but he could have sworn that kid was incredibly similar.

"Reno?" he inquired, his voice a mixture of curiosity and confusion. "That you?

"And what the hell happened here?"

He looked around. It was a regular mess, as though a fight had erupted, besides the fact that there were three wounded.
My proposed Limit Break
Limit Break: Custom Skill: GranLeo - Jake's axe(s) melt into his skin, causing him to get covered in a bronze or gold-covered liquid metal. He transforms from a 6'1" human to a 7'6" humanoid lion with razor-sharp claws on large, hammer-like fists and an iron-hard tuft at the end of his tail that can be used as a powerful mace or morningstar. Jake's defenses and strength double, and his speed and jump increase significantly, making him a terrifying close combat enemy. Jake in this form can also use a powerful roar to shake/intimidate foes or to knock back weak enemies, and can use his claws to climb sheer inclines. In GranLeo form, he can walk normally, but when he needs to run really fast, he gets down on all fours to high speeds.

Jake can only maintain this form for a limited time, and at the end of the transformation, he becomes exhausted, barely able to stand up let alone fight. Also, while Jake remains in control all throughout the form, the strain leaves him with severe headaches and vertigo afterwards.
"Huh," Jake said, reaching for his axe but then deciding against it. "A brawl in this part of town? Seems important... Sure, we'll tag along."

Jake was curious as to what was going on. Besides, he might find something interesting. Though he decided to be ready, just in case worst came to worst.
BTW, I realize I forgot to add a Shotlock or Limit Break to Jake's character sheet. Can I still do that, or do I have to wait for the next "level up", so to speak?
Jake gave a sympathetic smile.

"Don't sweat it, kid. Everyone screws up. Things happen, and nobody's perfect. We just pick ourselves up and try again.

"Seriously, I'm talking out of personal experience. Used to be a rash kid, still am. Hell, I took on the Horned King and his army while completely stinking drunk, which is why your buddy Reno had to bust me out of prison earlier."

When they landed in Twilight Town, Jake jumped off his Glider, which then glimmered brightly before going back to his hand as a keyaxe. He twirled it around a couple times before strapping it to his back again.

"Heh, Twilight Town. Been quite a few months since I've been here." He then noticed the welcoming committee.

"Yeah, I'm with him," Jake said, confirming Thomas' story. "John Grendell, my friends call me Jake. We come in peace and all that..."
Jake shook Thomas' hand, but was apparently a little worried.

"You alright, kid?" Jake inquired in concern. "You seem a little out of it..."

However, he got no response, and was unwilling to push the point. The kid was rather suspicious; probably took him a while to trust people.

"Oh, right, Glider..." Jake took out his keyaxe, and turned it over a couple times in his hands. "Hold on a second, been a while since I used this func-"

Suddenly the keyblade glowed in his hand, floated to the ground, and expanded to form a rather large, gothic looking hoverboard with a roaring lion's head at the front.

"Ah, there we go," Jake exclaimed. "Just like riding a bike."

He hopped on the Glider, and gestured to Thomas.

"Lead the way, Thomas."

As he followed the other keyblade user, he gave a quick salute to the others present.

"See you around! Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll drop by for a visit, alright?"

As he followed Thomas, he noticed that the boy was brooding.

"What's on your mind, Thomas?" he inquired. "You're worried about Reno too, huh? Look, the kid may be a sandwich short of a picnic, and overly naive, but I'm pretty sure he's safe."
"And good riddance," Jake said, seeing the Horned King consumed by the cauldron. Always the same smug arrogance, and always the same screaming disbelief. Bad guys just don't ever learn. He turned to look at the rest, trying to see if anyone was wounded or killed in the fight.

He was pleasantly surprised when Gurgi was revived; the mutt was annoying at times, but it took a lot of heart to sacrifice oneself for others. He pulled out some jerky from his backpack, gave them to the dog, and rubbed his hair.

"That was brave of you there, buddy. Just make sure not to make it a habit; you nearly gave us a heart attack back there!"

He took Taran aside for a bit after his kiss with the Princess.

"Say, kid?" he whispered to the boy. "That was some sword-swinging there... could use a little improvement, though. Try to follow through on a slash by using the momentum to guide you into the next hit, just maintain your footing and don't just spin like a top, know what I mean? Oh, and try and be a gentleman; ladies love the knight in shining armor bit, so be nice to the Princess and you might keep her heart. Good luck, champ."

He gave a shooting motion with his hand, winking with approval to Taran before turning to Thomas.

"Thanks for the covering my back, buddy," he said, reaching out for a handshake as he put away his axe. "Guess we better go find Reno now. I think the Horned King mentioned something about a portal?"

He looked around to see if there was a portal, or some clue as to where Reno had disappeared.
Sorry for the delay, everyone. the 'Guild was down most of yesterday, so I couldn't post. Catching up to the thread, will post ASAP.
"What the-?!" Jake caught a small flurry of grey fur dash behind him, and as he turned around to see it, he only caught a glimpse of Gurgi about to throw himself into the cauldron.

"Dammit, furball, stay away from that-!!"

It was too late; Gurgi had thrown himself into the cauldron after braving the battle between hero and undead/Heartless. Jake felt little personal sorrow at the death of the dog-being; he had not known Gurgi that well either. Yet the fact that a small, unarmed, defenseless being as Gurgi had chose to sacrifice himself after going into a fight to the death with little more than his bare paws... that just commanded respect.

Jake gave a couple seconds of silence before backhanding a hole through a Heartless that tried to sneak behind him. He then turned around and marched up to the Horned King.

"Damn, all that hot air, and not a single original word in it," he quipped, stopping in preparation to take on a wall of fire sent his way by the Horned King. He performed a strong Perfect Block to stop the first wave, then engaged in a rapid series of Rolling Blocks followed by Quick Runs, Aerial Glides, and High Jumps to get past the attack waves, and closed in with the Horned King.

"All that big talk, and you still hide behind your minions and fireworks like a scared little kid. That little hairball, I know almost nothing about. Yet by choosing to break the power of your little kitchenware even at the cost of his life... THAT takes courage. And that deserves a little monument too; I think you shattered skull will do."

Jake unleashed his fury, hammering at the Horned King with a flurry of slashes, power strikes, and slams, each blow capable of making even a strong Heartless reel with its power. Jake struck rapidly, trying to break and overextend the Horned King's shields and defense before delivering a powerful kick to his midsection that would send him reeling into the nearest wall, before charging forth in a burst of energy and bringing down Kaiser Leo with enough force that the impact - whether the Horned King shielded himself or not - created a crater 8 feet across in the stone ground.

Jake delivered another mighty blow, causing the very ground around him to tremble and crack as it slammed into foe.

"Yo, ugly! I'm going to beat that bag of bones you call a body until candy comes out!"
...dammit.

So Jake is going to beat the Horned King with a pile of bones?

EDIT: Re-read it. Now I feel silly. Get the Horned King into the cauldron. My bad :(
