To those who made it, congratulations. To those who didn't, well done nonetheless; I seriously expected to be voted out, your characters were really good. It's a shame not everyone could join, but I look forwards to seeing you guys in other threads.

Answers to setting questions:
  • Global population is less than a billion, around 3-4 hundred million sounds like a good number. I'm going to take the easy way out and not give a specific year, but somewhere between 2050-2100.
  • I'll have to add it to the map, but the Imperator sits at the city of Nova Roma near the Black Sea.
  • Notably Nova Lux and the largest military academy in the Imperium are both located in Palmyra. Though this is outside Nova Roma and technically the Imperium's center of power, House Mars control of the city is nominal at best.

  • So about 10M per city, though I imagine some cities would be more populous than others; Acyra, Palmyra, and Calcaria would be positively bustling by comparison to, say, Dertona or Ceres.
  • It's Istanbul/Constantinople, isn't it? :P City of Cities, back in its former glory.
  • I see. I'm wondering if you did this to give the setting a Japanese flavor (Palmyra would be the closest place for Japanese refugees to land, though one can argue little Tokyos exist across all the Sanctum Cities) :P
So a few questions about the setting, regardless of whether or not I get accepted:
  • What's the general technology level? What's the level of available consumer electronics? Are cellphone/smartphone equivalents commonplace, or are they expensive enough to be property of the rich only? What's the status on the global information network, and is it connected by cable or satellite? If by cable, are those being attacked by Nox, or are they generally ignored?
  • What's the global population level at this point? Sure, the world's population has dwindled greatly since the attack of the First Void a hundred years ago, but how many humans are around now? Several hundred million? A billion? Also, what year was it when the First Void Incident happened, or has the old world calendar been lost too?
  • Where is the official capital of the Imperium? I mean, we know the DuoDecim rule the remaining 23 Sanctum Cities, but there seems to be none for the Imperium to rule from. Or will you reveal it once we get to the game?
This game will be played here, the Discord is for chat and prep.

Yes, and good work finding the game, it was one of my favorites growing up and one of the first adventure RPGs I ever played all the way through. This world is loosely based on the game. The wizards guarding the swords, Draygon, and the weapon system in the floating tower are major plot motivators. The lieutenants are new, based on letting people play the villain if they like. There will be more than 4 wizards and swords, and a bigger world to play in.

I'm also taking notes from this game: Ultima: Quest of the Avatar From which I plan on pulling the character classes for the people of the world that you guys can play, however I'm sorry to say that I haven't gotten that part up yet. Expect to see a list in the character section soon.

I posted in the OOC without everything being completely put together, I could've put this in the Interest section, but I like to feel like I'm building, and I would love to build collaboratively with you all.

Mostly because a) I don't live in America, so a Discord live RP would be pointless for me, and b) I can at least understand the general setting. And looking forwards to the classes, though I'll have to check if I have time.
Would this setting be based on this game?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystalis

Also, will the game be here or on the Discord server?
that being said, while I made the "Are you a betting man" joke earlier, there's tough competition in here and idk if my character does enough to stand out. Good luck to everyone regardless, tho.

Personally, I hope nobody's left out, this seems like a very interesting premise, but I understand that not all games and not all GMs can handle this many people.
Hey! I'm interested in joining but I'm not sure which element I feel like choosing yet — is it fine to choose one that other characters already have or do you have a preference for the leftover elements to be used?

Considering there's not exactly a "first come first served" status and we're just making characters, I'd say no preference, you're fine. Of course, bear in mind we're probably a handful of students in a massive academy with applicants from all over the world, there's bound to be several students with the same element(s).
So to summarize, we've got the following elements covered:
Fire: 2
Air/Wind: 1
Ice: 1
Lightning: 1
Earth: 1
Gravity: 1
Darkness: 1
Light: 1
Aether: 1

While the following elements have yet to find a champion:
Water, Wood, Metal(?)

And I thought Valentia was more in Poland or Russia. Eh, I guess the map isn't exact, and doesn't have to be; as long as the Sanctum Cities are mostly defined, the setting's fine.
Re-write for Penny looks good, don't see anything that needs to be changed there.

Great! Will upload her CS sometime tomorrow or the day after.
Second Pass, hopefully, I've caught everything this time.

Penny seems good! The only thing I should note is that magical weapons generally manifest as part of your transformation.

That said I think I'd be fine making an exception and letting Penny using Grand Eisen as her weapon. It'd just be that it becomes far more effective in her transformed state. Untransformed she could still use it to help her channel her magic, but she'd run out of juice pretty quickly.

I had re-read the setting and tried to edit that part out. Basically, it manifests like any other Gladius now. If I missed a part of the background and didn't edit that part out, point out where; I knew I forgot something.
