β A P P E A R A N C EDivine is a slender black woman, standing at five feet seven inches tall and weighing in at a little over one-hundred thirty pounds. Her skin is beautifully dark, darker than any glancing touch of the sun could ever produce. Her soft-curled, shoulder length hair is dense but yielding, and thick enough to lose your fingers in. Although having a head full of hair, Vine prefers to wear her hair in protective styles (braids, weaves, wigs, etc.), which allow her hair to grow healthier. She'll usually wear a bone-straight, waist length wig. There's a certain elegance in the way that Vine carries herself: good posture, long confident strides and her head held high. She often looks taller than her height of 5"7 considering that she's always wearing heels when she has a choice.
Her eyes are large and almond shaped, the brown of the iris so dark that it almost appears to be black. Her eyes are fringed with long, thick lashes. Her lips are full and always covered with a clear lip gloss. When smiling, you can see that she has two rows of perfectly white teeth, a slight overbite present. Vine often finds herself applying a full face of makeup before class, therefore enhancing her natural beauty.
When it comes to her fashion sense, Vine always dresses to impress. Her wardrobe consists of stunning pantsuits, dresses, blouses, and a large number of heels and boots. She likes to look her best everyday, and usually spends about two hours each morning making sure that there's nothing out of place. It's rare to see her in a state of disarray as she believes that she should always look prepared and presentable, especially when she's the most frazzled. When it comes to jewelry, Divine doesn't like to be flashy; she'll usually just stick to a large pair of hoop earrings, along with a matching necklace and rings.

β P E R S O N A L I T YIf you had to describe Divine in one word, most people would choose terms along the lines of "intelligent", "free-spirited" or "witty". An extroverted introvert, Divine loves to chat with people (unless she's having a bad day, in which case she'll lean towards negativity and passive-aggression), make others laugh, and tends to be genuinely friendly. She is also very creative, especially when it comes to making films, and craves adventure, thrills, and new things. A generally optimistic, upbeat person, Vine is the sort of person to chat with anyone and everyone whether it be on public transport, in shops, or even on the street. Like most extroverted introverts, however, alone time is still necessary for Divine to function, and she canβt be with people for excessive amounts of time without feeling drained. Divine is a seemingly calm and laid-back girl, yet is by no means a pushover. She can more than take care of herself, but is smart enough to know when to pick a fight and when to let something go. She is someone who isn't weighed down by the troubles of everyday life, is not restricted by other people's opinions, and is always herself regardless of the situation. She is more connected to her inner world than the world outside, is very creative, and hates feeling restricted.
While trying her best to be as unoffensive as possible, Vine isn't too keen on keeping her opinions to herself. She loves a good debate, and generally joins in arguments whenever they crop up around her. Despite this small setback, her nature is not competitive. She doesn't really dislike anyone who does better than her at whatever the subject because she aims for self-improvement and beating personal records more than anything else. Her work-ethic was carefully installed by her father's no-nonsense parenting. She was raised in a household where it was essential to maintain a healthy body and mind; her father made sure that she focused on setting and achieving her own personal goals. She excelled in school, ate healthy, and exercised daily. Even now that she is an adult, she still finds it hard to get out of the habit of walking a couple of miles everyday or avoiding extra sugary snacks.
Vine is confident in herself and her actions, often to a fault. She is very self-critical, has trouble asking for help, and hates admitting when she's wrong. When things don't go as she planned or in a positive direction, she can get frustrated very easily. Divine also has a bit of a "potty mouth," and uses profanity even when she isn't trying to. She also has a lot of trouble controlling her temper, and whenever someone pushes her to her limit, she'll snap; it will often result in her yelling a large number of obscene words, throwing objects, and even going as far as to get physical. Despite all of her shortcomings, there's no denying that Divine is usually kind and dependable. If you ask her to meet you somewhere, she will be there; if she promises to do something, she will do it; if you ask her for help, she will do everything in her power to assist.

β H O M E T O W NChicago, Illinois
β H I S T O R YDivine was born and raised in the slums of Chicago. She was an only child, a product of an unexpected and unwanted teen pregnancy. Despite being deemed "not ready" to raise a kid by her family, Divine's mother still brought her "bundle of joy" into this world. After just two long years of motherhood, however, Divine's mother had reached her breaking point. After being forced to move into her baby father's place and fend for herself (and her newborn), her mother had much trouble affording clothes, diapers, and food for her child. Divine's father dropped out of high school and got a job, but it still wasn't enough to support all three of them. Long story short, the parents decided to put their baby girl up for adoption, and not much later, she was taken in by a Dominican foster family from the South Side. There she lived with her foster parents and five older "siblings."
Growing up, Divine was always very independent and ambitious. In elementary school, she was often recognized and rewarded for her academic and social achievements. Her foster parents were both high school teachers, and pushed for Divine to partake in numerous activities: piano lessons, basketball, spelling bees, volunteer work, etc. From the age of seven, Divine always knew that she was a foster kid, but had no great desire of meeting her birth parents. However, that did not stop her from figuring out who they were and digging up as much information about them as she could. She took many trips to the area at which she was born, the neighborhood not too far from her own, and even visited the high school she would have attended had the couple decided to keep her.
Before her first year of high school, Divine's foster dad got a job promotion which resulted in him and his wife moving to California. Divine and the five other foster kids were separated once more and placed into new foster homes. Vine ended up living with a verbally abusive single mother until she turned eighteen; after pushing through high school while consistently maintaining an A average, Divine went to Pennbrooke University on a basketball scholarship to major in Film and Video, and minor in African-American Studies so that she could get a better understanding of her history. Not being used to living in down sotuh, Divine immediately felt out of place within the state of Mississippi. For a long time she missed the commotion of the city, her friends back home, and even the stray cat she used to feed on her walk to class everyday. This changed as time went on once she began to make more friends and connections within the university. She pledged Omega Psi Phi sorority as a way to form sisterly bonds, something she's never had the pleasure of experiencing.
