History: From a proud Greek lineage, Natalie's parents were poor, and in hiding from the world, living in an inconspicuous suburban house in Glasgow, Scotland with a garage, where they'd only ever be seen driving to and from it, never ever walking. Despite this they tried their best to raise their girl to be normal. Home schooling her and letting her indulge in ordinary youth culture whilst chatting online with other, ordinary homeschooled kids. On the Internet, nobody knows you're half horse.

But as Natalie grew up, and entered her teens, being cooped up in her house and its tiny garden, and occasionally being allowed in the park at night, was not enough for her, and her parents knew it. Dipping into their rapidly dwindling supply of money, a meagre fraction of the fortunes amassed by their family in times long past, they sent their daughter to Blakeley's Institute so that she could not just have a good education, but friends, social interaction, and an actual childhood.

Making the jump from Casual to Advanced

Thanks for the edvice, everyone! I'll try again when I feel like I have the time and energy free to make this kind of commitment, because as Terminal said, rp is just a hobby to me right now and nothing more. I'll take everyone's advice of board as well, when I do try again.

I mean I've even stopped writing short stories in the past few months because I just...stopped feeling like it, but I'm going to get back into that in the new year.

Making the jump from Casual to Advanced

I've always wanted to try Advanced rp just to see if I can hang with the big boys, but given that recently I haven't had enough time/investment in several Casual RPs to even finish my CS, right now might not be the right time.

Sorry, I've decided to drop out. I just don't think I'm ready for advanced yet. All this talk of plot planning, and writing backstories larger than three paragrahs without copying wikipedia....

Am I the only one who, even after assurances from users that it's not that big a leap as long as you can write well and develop your characters, still gets intimidated by the amount of pre-rp work you need to do, designing and planning your own arcs instead of letting them happen naturally via character interactions with other users like in casual, avoiding stepping on people's toes because they want their character to do their thing, ect.

Basically, any tips on how to cope with this or make a smoother transition would be nice because there are way more differences in attitudes and expectations than simply 'write better with some actual character development', and it's almost putting me off jumping into Advanced.

My problem is that I'm ridiculously lean with words. I say in three paragraphs hat someone else can say in five and then you compare the two and I haven't missed out anything that they included. It's annoying when your posts are frequently shorter than other people's (And this is on the Casual section), but it also means that when I do manage a five paragraph post, it does about seven paragraphs worth of character and plot development.

I can do two decent paragraphs minimum consistently, sure! A lot of casual section dwellers like me just see posts of like 1000+ words and just go "nnnnope! I'm not and never will be that good!"

EDIT: Perfect knowledge of spelling and grammar but I get betrayed by clumsy fingers a lot >.>
