I like it! Fix the pic and you're good!
@Penny

Good idea. Most of them will be okay but it is a courtesy.
@Penny

I mean real world independently. Being a sailor of the wrecked ship is encouraged.
The ship set sail from Plymouth on a bright, cloudless August morning, in the year 1721. The crew were not told much about the purpose of the voyage other than it was to recover a hidden fortune left behind by a wealthy and deceased Privateer by the name of John Galloway. One thing the crew did not know was the true nature their Captain, who was ever confident, laughing heartily with his shipmates, but always refused to drink alcohol, saying it dulled the senses and that a good Captain always needed to be alert. Their Captain, who was rumoured to consult a map in their quarters that no other shipmate had ever laid eyes on but told of the location of the hidden fortune. Their Captain was a girl. John Galloway's daughter, in fact. Her name was Mary-Anne Galloway. Superstition prohibited women from travelling on ships. It was bad luck, so she disguised herself as a boy. She'd been around sailors all her life, and it was easy to fall into the mannerisms and the tone of voice needed for her crew to believe that she was not just a he, but a manly, seasoned salty sea-dog.

One day she brought the elusive map out in public, and claimed that they had arrived, though there was no landmarks or land of any kind in any direction. But she knew what she was doing. She had been taught how to read this map properly. You had to reach the edge of it, and then go just past that. Quickly, a storm began to pick up, and despite the preparations of the crew, it was too much for the ship to handle, and the storm got worse and worse, and thunder began to crackle from the sky, and the waves began to dwarf the ship, as if the world itself didn't want them to carry on their course.

When the survivors awoke next, they were on a beach, cold and sodden, washed ashore among bodies and splintered wood. The Captain was nowhere to be found, nor the map. As they'd venture further ashore, they'd find a town, harbouring many small boats that looked like nothing they'd ever seen before, and among them, one proper galleon, even more impressive than the one they'd sailed on. The hands at the docks would tell anybody who asked that the ship belongs to a mister James Roper, who could be found in the nearby tavern, and he's looking for a crew...

So, this is going to be a Pirate RP set in a brand new world! Swashbuckling, pillaging, treasure hunting and swordfighting are all heavily encouraged, but if you want a character of finer moral fiver who just either wants to find the fortune and nothing else, or wants to get home, that's also fine!

RULES

-Your character may be a member of the former crew, or a native to the new world. Nobody is to be another sailor from the world we know without my permission.
-Drama in the OOC will not be tolerated. Take it to PMs. I don't care who starts it. I'll finish it by kicking all parties involved out of the canon.
-After one week's total unannounced inactivity, I will PM you. After another week, if I don't hear back from the PM, you will be removed from the canon. If you are unsure what to post, please ask for help in the OOC. If you are going away, please tell me beforehand
-Please post at least one paragraph.
-There is a two post buffer. Once you post, you will be unable to post again until two other people have posted first.
-If you are unsure about a violent/adult/questionable post and whether it's okay, idea or act, don't hesitate to ask.
-No godmodding, mary sues, ect.

"So you want to be part of my crew, eh?"

(CS. Please answer in character)

What's your name? (self-explanatory)

Anything I could call you for short? (Nickname/s)

Out of interest, how old are you? (age)

So what can you bring to my crew? (Your position on the ship, and any skills or abilities you have)

You got a picture of yourself? I need one for the documents. (Please use real pictures. No cartoons.)

So, what's your story? (In character, reveal as much or as little of your character's history as you want, making sure that their personality is conveyed. Two paragraphs minimum.)
@LokiLeo789

Awe. That's a shame.
@Bishop

A fight with a large sea creature is a definite. Probably won't be the Kraken, or the Leviathan, but a brand new creature.

@Assallya

The Captain's gonna be from the old world, his past is gonna be mysterious and he himself will not be trustworthy, a good man or a "pirate but with a secret heart of gold" or anything like that. I like my characters more complex than that.

Before I make the OOC, @LokiLeo789, did you want to play the girl with the map from your idea?
@Assallya

Well, they're going to be in a new world. It's kinda hard to steal everything not nailed down in a brand new world and then claim it's 'for your country'. The ship the survivors came from was a privateer ship. I might even have been a fully legal ship. But the new crew they're going to join? I think my Captain's just in it for himself, for the riches.
@Pilatus

I'd rather have the real world be realistic so that the other world is not, and they do not share the gender roles and superstitions that were around in the Golden Age of Piracy. Makes for a nice contrast.

@Assallya

We have a good and fairly developed plot now. There's no reason to massively change it. This rp will be a very romantic, escapist 'swashbuckling' kind of pirate rp with treasure and maps and cutlass fights and all that good stuff.
@Penny

I like that even more than a portal. That's...that's really good!
