The Young Avengers: Probation

Molly woke up, laying on her hostel bed. It was strange not following her usual school routine, but today was the day it was beginning. Her attempts to become a full-fledged solo Superhero had attracted the attention of the Avengers, and mere days ago, they had contacted her. She was...not quite going to be a full-fledged Avenger, but become part of a younger, more inexperienced team. Like, a sort of 'Young Avengers'. It was going to be nice to be part of a team again, and this one, a team of actual, dedicated crime-fighting costumed Superheroes. The real deal! Not that she didn't like being in the Runaways but those her her friends, and that was her gang. This, however, was her dream job. Not quite the same thing.

After getting up, getting showered, and getting dressed, Molly called a cab, and had them take her to about twenty minutes walk from the Complex. She wasn't sure how discreet she should be but it didn't hurt to play it safe. After running the rest of the way carrying three large suitcases containing everything she owned slung casually over her shoulder like they collectively weighed nothing, she reached the front doors, and used her keycard to get in. The doors were huge! As was the foyer! Molly stood in total awe, gazing at every corner at the room she had entered. She hadn't been anywhere this big or expensive looking in four years. Man....Superheroes were awesome.

Heidi's costume is a suit of her own design made of intrecately woven polymer fibers of her own design, making it tough and almost bulletproof, yet flexible. The design is diagonal gold and light blue stripes on the torso, while the legs are blue, and her boots and gloves are gold. Underneath this suit is a lightweight exoskeleton to enhance her physical abilities and let her keep up with her less cerebral classmates.

Mutation

Heidi's brain processes many, many times faster than normal. This gives her a memory that even 'perfectly photographic' wouldn't do justice to. She can remember every detail of every second of her life. The smells, the temperature and wind direction, and exactly what she was thinking about and knew at the time. It naturally vastly increases her ability to learn, meaning she is very knowledgeable in a multitude of subjects and can speak every single language on the planet, but her ability to calculate at such a high speed means that she can predict the physical future to an extent (if she has enough data at her disposal) Eg. she sees a guy firing a gun, taking note of the gun model and bullet size, as well of the feel of the wind on her skin telling her the wind direction and strength. She therefore predicts exactly how fast the bullet will travel and exactly where it will hit.

Weaknesses

The downside to this is that all her senses are in overdrive 24/7, and she can overthink the most basic of social interactions so therefore dislikes them. She is also completely deaf and if a sound is made, may not notice.

Prior to Joining the School

• 2003:Heidi Williams is born in Edinburgh to a pro-Mutant registration family.
• 2013: Heidi grows up living an ordinary middle-class family. She believes in her parents' Anti-Mutant rhetoric to a degree. A dangerous and untrained powerful mutant keeping it a secret shouldn't be allowed come to a school full of non-mutants. There are enough accidents and incidents to show that this isn't just bigotry, but logic.
• 2015:Heidi loses her hearing in an explosion after a pro-registration conference her parents were attending was attacked by mutant extremists. Her mother died in the explosion and her father lost the use of his legs. Heidi's mutant abilities begin to manifest and she tells her dad. Full of grief and hatred at mutant-kind for taking his wife, he cuts off ties with her and she goes into foster-care.

Post Powers

Heidi was scouted by Xavier's school two years ago, in 2016, when her incredibly high intellect and academic accomplishments had attracted their attention. She became a student there, taking part in several of the most senior classes there despite only being thirteen. The mature students found her adorable and she became a popular mascot for the class. She enjoyed this, but had trouble dealing with social interactions thanks to her mutation. When they all graduated and either became X-men or went out into the world, Heidi lost all of her established friends in one fell swoop. There weren't a great deal of fellow thirteen year olds she wanted to talk to very much, and older teenagers intimidated her, so she was a shy, reclusive, antisocial loner for almost a year. It was only when they started letting her take Danger Room training that she began to open up with her classmates.

» Oscar is treated like a superstar, through and through. His entrances are always elaborate and firework heavy. In terms of his character, he’s always larger than life and has amazing mic skills, though his character’s personality has evolved over the years as he’s been a face on two separate occasions and a heel on two separate occasions. He’s a former World Champion, as his first heel turn saw him have a high profile feud with Drayden that really put the young up-and-comer on the map.
As a face, Oscar is all about giving the crowd a show, spouting catchphrases and jokes in all of his promos and emitting pure entertainment like an aura. As a heel, he becomes an arrogant show-off, and his promos become wonderfully hateable and smug. He’s versatility with his gimmicks has what’s led to him staying fresh this long.

» Oscar’s been in this business a long time, and though isn’t one for creative control or backstage politics, trusting in the management and writing staff to do their jobs and he’ll do his, Oscar is a large presence backstage. Though he doesn’t haze new blood for the sake of it, he makes it very clear that the new faces should show respect to the business, the veterans, and to each other, and if they get out of line, the punishments will range from a match with Oscar that’s far stiffer than it should have been, to having to pay for a locker room expense like car fuel, food or booze (this is usually a punishment for stinginess), to simply getting yelled at in the locker room.
That said, Oscar can be a patient and understanding mentor and friend to those who do show respect. When it comes to planning matches, Oscar will almost always take charge, though is open to suggestions, and will practice until the match is perfect.

»Sydney's gimmick draws from Dawn's MMA experience and military background. Sydney is a punk who will brutalise her opponents. She either wears black or camo ring gear, and her titantron video has heavy war themes as well as grungy text and filters. Her entrance itself isn't anything spectacular. Her song hits, the lighting turns green, and she marches out with purpose. Sometimes she'll walk out with a chair or a bat if it's a stipulation match that allows such things. Sydney's wrestling style reflects her character; grapple-heavy, with her spots often being shows of strength and power, or acts of barbarism or brutality, such as chair shots or attacks aimed at the head.

» Dawn, before being picked up by the company and trained from scratch to pro-wrestle, was first a British soldier, signing up for four years service when she was sixteen having seemingly no other options or aspirations. When she was discharged at age twenty, she had gained an appetite for physical fitness. She trained in MMA for a while before deciding that it wasn't her thing and she did not enjoy the competitive nature of it. She then turned to female bodybuilding. That's when she was picked up by AWE talent scouts, and was signed up to their developmental promotion, where she spent two years both learning and honing her wrestling skills. Seven months ago, she was moved up to AWE itself, and has enjoyed success as a dominant heel in the women's division.

Dawn's rep has not suffered for this unusual career path, and she is a genuinely nice, friendly, respectful person who gets on well with the rest of the locker room, and will happily give tips on bodybuilding and fitness to anybody who asks of her.

In terms of planning matches, Dawn is not a strict, meticulous planner, but nor is she comfortable calling moves on the fly. She likes to have a basic plan and the order of all the big spots at the very least decided on before the match. In the planning stage, she is more than accommodating of any ideas unless they undermine her character. She has a couple of rules she will not break for anyone, such as; she will never no-sell, she will never lose by submission unless it's an important PPV, and she believes that finishers should be protected and won't agree to perform or take too many if they won't win the match and it's not an important enough PPV for shock kickouts.

»’Hector’ had enjoyed success as a big guy with the gimmick of an insane slasher villain, though this translated to cheesy effects, mind games and blackout attacks every other week. He was never a world champion though he did briefly hold the IC belt, and had an upper-card feud with Drayden during one of the rare instances when he wasn’t champion or challenging for the championship. This all came to an end over a year ago when Andrew had to go through a messy divorce, and took time off to return to Scotland and deal with that. He was written off TV by being set of fire from one of the chemicals of Dr. Sinister off the back of a feud with The creation, and then he was gone.
Several months ago, he came back for training, and to people’s surprise, it’s as if he was never gone. She’s the same old chatty, friendly big scot who enjoys a drink, and he had very little ring rust. He fell back into place in the AWE machine and is now ready to return to the ring, though his debut is still being held off until after the tournament. Personally, Andrew isn’t sure his character still fits in with an industry that’s gearing towards a more realistic, MMA style populated by small, fast guys with realistic names and characters, or maybe that just means he’s needed more than ever.

» Hector’s new gimmick is far more genuinely scary and intense than his old one. He is now a deranged psychopath, and even though there are still blackout attacks and lighting effects, Hector is framed less of a supernatural monster than he was in his previous run and far more of an ordinary albeit twisted and deranged human, and therefore all the more unsettling for it, as he seems real now. He will wear creepy masks, give nonsensical promos that make the interviewer uncomfortable, stalk his feuding opponents backstage in skits and during their promos, ect. His mindgames are a thing of beauty now. Rather than before, where every opponent would get the same thing (dolls, abandoned asylums, little girls), now each feud’s mindgames are tailored towards the fears and insecurities of his opponents and a big deal will be made of him getting inside their heads.

» After graduation from college with a degree in creative writing, he looked for work. For several years he drifted between jobs he did not enjoy. He was a newspaper columnist, then a journalist, then he tried to break into the world of screenwriting but had no success. » Gary is not the universally loved saviour of the writing team that Kevin is, but he still has a good rep with many of the wrestlers. The process of letting the performers have a hand in writing their promos is a very nice touch. Though they don't have complete control and very rarely get permission to improvise, Gary's method is greatly preferred to the old days when everybody had to repeat the given script word for word, and thus, every face sounded the same, and every heel sounded the same, barring catchphrases and some performers just being naturally talented enough to make it work and others not.

Free: Fast, undetailed, short, real-time roleplaying from people who probably couldn't write a coherent short story for crap but maybe have experience skype or discord roleplaying. Come here if you like waking up to seven new pages since you went to bed. Don't come here if you like grammar.

Casual: The middle ground section. Lots of fandom rps abound. A couple of paragraphs per post allows planned character arcs and stories to be set by the player rather than the community setting up everything on the fly organically, but still allows for more robust interactions and collaborative storytelling than Advanced.

Advanced: The reason there are so many collabs in advanced is because it's the only feasible way to have two characters from different players interact with each other on Advanced. Very insular. Very 'every player is pretty much just telling their own story and may as well write a book', and very 'I use these exact same fluffing techniques to get a college paper up to the wordcount'. Also, be prepared to spend about a month catching up, reading all the lore google docs, and making your CS.
