Trying to wrap my head around the new tools and bits of the site. Well done, Mahz.

Bio

Née 1991. I feel old already.

Been roleplaying from the age of 15, write on solo projects in my spare time. I heartily encourage interaction when it comes to writing and creative efforts. Like to think I'm an understanding but stern and solid GM when I host games, and a collaborative and creative individual. Used to draw. Write in advanced section.

While I might not be as omni-present a some of you are on RP:G, I have been a part of it since 2009-2010 (if my memory serves me right). However, I must admit that post Guildfall, my activity also dropped. Slowly getting back into things.

I attended university to acquire my master's degree in history. I already had an educational degree for history and English, and am teaching both in secondary school. Any questions? Ask.

Very true, and had considered such a faction. Actually also got another possible idea. A Moff being a Follower of the Pius Dea, who were thought long dead for many millennia.

Which do you guys think would be better? An Renegade Imperial Warlord, a Resurgent Pius Dea?(Kinda the same as last, but with a religious twist and other things), Or a Local Warlord in the Outer Rim.

I'd simply stay clear from the Pius Dea.
I'm very interested in this but I might get lost in the logistics sense of this so I will try my best in trying to form a descent sheet. I am curious though in one thing. Would it be plausible to play something like faction of the Black Sun? Since I believe they were still around, my Star Wars lore is lacking at the moment, but otherwise I'd like to go for an Imperial faction.

You can always pick up a pirate or mercenary faction, but these will always be smaller than an Imperial warlord or Rebel general's forces/holdings.

Seeing as we're getting, or will be getting a few imperial splinter factions. Think I may go for an Independent route. A Warlord who seized the opportunity in the chaos.

Not all Imperial factions are aligned or alied. There are those who want to safeguard their sectors and build up their own power to make a bid for the throne, others who'll go rogue and cut off their own slice off the Galaxy to rule. Think of the diadoch generals after Alexander the Great's death, or the warlordism of the late Roman Republic.

A) Yes true but the reason conflicting labels exist is it is not a real Star Destroyer it was an "Attack Cruiser" first. Because god bless the old Republic classifications.

B) The Venator has very few Turbolasers with it's size due to the fact it was designed to carry a large complement, that was it's purpose. I mean it has a massive weakness in that a large portion of it is hollow. I'd say keep it at it's original complement at least and limit it to that if you have to but technically it could field MORE TIE fighters than the old ARCs/V-Wings it used to field.

A) We're using the Anaxes WC system as clearly stated in the OP (which was an institute in place even under the Old Republic).

B) The Venator's armament allows it to lock horns with an Imperial I-class SD. There is no doubt it could take on a Victory I-class. Main battery wise, the Venator has 8 dual turbolaser, whereas the SD only has 6 but complemented by 2 large ion cannons. The smaller hardpoints taken into account, shows indeed a discrepancy. Something I consider normal, seeing as the Imperial SD-designs are more advanced than the Venator schematics. However, a Venator would be able to field over 400 starfighters which is entirely disproportionate in comparison with the 72 an Imp I could. Capping it at 96 or 108 means it has two/three more squadrons than an imperial star destroyer.

In conclusion: Being able to field two squadrons more than the Imp I-class, and possessing the armament between a Victory I and Imp I-class, sounds sufficient to me. The ship is less advanced than either of those imperial designs, and keeping it at 400 starfighters seems unrealistic (paradox aside). The Venator was designed as a capital ship, with its main task being ship-to-ship combat. Its secondary role was starfighter carrier, escort or troop transport. This is sufficiently illustrated by the 24-36 additional starfighters, meaning it has around 1.5 times an Imp I's complement. Another argument for the smaller amount of turrets is that a SD is almost 500 meters longer than the Venator.

TL;DR - Venator starfighter complement is capped at 108.

The next ship produced =/= Successor. An Imperator Star Destroyer was designed for a completely different purpose.

Don't be overly semantic ;). While it perhaps wasn't the successor in the same line, the Imp Star Destroyers make up the core of the Imperial Starfleet whereas the Venators did that during the Clone Wars. The Venators were in fact being replaced by more modern Star Destroyer designs. As a capital ship and 'workhorse', the Imp SD's followed the Venators.
We're still open for those interested parties.

Sini's a male.

Last I checked.

Problem. The Venator is less than half the size of most other carriers, but somehow carries more starfighters than most of them (200 for it versus the 144 of the Secutor Star Destroyer, twice as large or three times as large if one counts width and described as being more dedicated to starfighter carriage), AND it somehow retains more heavy weapons by mass than anything other than the Imperial I and II class Star Destroyers. It outperforms every listed carrier by far, both in terms of armament and in terms of carrier capacity. It can't be rated as a proper Star Destroyer though, since it's far too small.

The Venator is, at the risk of starting fires, something of a game breaker.

After consultation, @Terminal and I both feel that 90 or so craft, maybe something up to 114 for TIE's and smaller craft, would be the complement of the Venators.

We both think that even at 5 points a pop, they're too damn powerful without a retcon to bring it back to sanity, given the size and relative power of the vessels.

This is up to you, @Sini but we're both on the same page with that.

Thanks for pointing this out.

With its 1,137 meters, it falls well within the SD-size bracket (Ships of roughly 1000 - 2000 meters length), so I have reclassified it accordingly. Some pages on the wiki had conflicting labels on it, hence my mistake. The way I explained the ability to field all those smaller craft, would be to swith out all weapons in favour of docking space.

The alternative that you two propose would bring it more towards the carrying capacity of an Imperial I SD, its successor. I believe that to be reasonable. 90 smaller ships per Venator seems a proper balancing decision, so let's go with that.

@Sini hope you don't mind but as warship classifications have changed in the Imperial times that's my list. I was working with the C170 retrofit being more of a corvette than a frigate which is what the Republic classified it as.

Adhering to the Anaxes War College system, classing ships per their length, that'd be right.

<Snipped quote by Sini>

Well we were gonna be Imperials. I also feel that due to the system having at least two rebel bases , Bespin and Both that it'd be imperial due to them wanting to keep a tight grip in rebel ares under supervision of a Grand Moff it's also the most populous in the area.

Mhm, be advised though that as Imperial rule is collapsing, you guys risk being isolated in the Outer Rim. No reinforcements will be coming other than those you can get for yourself. The Rebel Alliance has just won a major victory, and a lot of their soon to be consolidated holdings are in the Outer Rim (along the Sanctuary Pipeline) and the southern reaches of the Hydian Way, Corellian Trade Spine and the Corellian Run. Basically you're about to set up shop in a wasp's nest of 'filthy Rebel scum'. :P Endor isn't that far away from Yavin, so that would prove interesting. I do not want to convince you to take a different starting spot, but just want to point out that what might concern you.

Can I claim Isde Naha, Ozu, Orn Kios, Darlyn Boda , Ertegas, Shuxl, Anantapar, Mataou, Ison, Hoth, Anoat, Bespin, Varonat, Indellian, Bendeluum, Zhanox, Ione, Burnin Konn, Isis, Tokmia, Allyuen, Togominda, Bettel, Mev, Tinoon, Delphon, Polmanar, Zephry, Nothoiin, Salia Na, Bavva, Council, The Ring, Mexeluine, Mijos, Lutrilla, Shuldene, Kirtarkin, High Chunah, Kumru, Aztubek, Javin, Mugaar, Cargamalis. Basically this is all the Javin sector.

I've currently put those down as Rebel Alliance controlled. Would you be playing as an Imperial or Rebel force?

Name: High Admiral Kaul Bylvers

Race:Human (Corulag)
Age: 29

Personality:
Pragmatic and ruthless, Kaul enjoys taking calculated risks, which has earned him a reputation of tactical brilliance. He is aware, however, that he lacks the certain military genius some believe him to have and tries to compensate this by extensive study of both history, strategic codices, and works of military theory. The new tactics he and others of his generation employ, have led to the older rank and file to consider him unorthodox and dangerous. Not seeing the calculation behind his decisions, Kaul has more than once been condemned for a dangerous brute. This stumping of his ambitions fuelled his rancour towards the old guard.

Though indeed no stranger to brutality, Kaul has come to consider it –and his notoriously savage rages- as a tool, one of the personal weapons in his arsenal. Alternatively imposing or charming, his quick mind always usually resorts to violence of a psychological sort, whereas previously his abuse was considerably more traditional. His intelligence and impressive rhetorical skills allowed him to ascend the Imperial hierarchy in spite of opposition of more conservative superiors. Indeed, Kaul’s true talents lie within the fields of organisation and oratory, both of which spill over into tactics and inspiring the troops. While not an impressive pilot, Kaul Bylvers is apt at handling his men.

Admiral Bylvers is loyal to the Army and the Fleet as prestigious institutions, seeing them as the best bet to ensure the Empire’s survival. Additionally, he is grateful for the lessons his military career has taught him. Most importantly for tempering his ferocity and enabling his guile, recognising self-restraint was the truest mark of a man. This insight has, nonetheless, led to a lot of pent up frustration and aggression.

Palpatine and Vader might be gone, but the order and honour of the imperium will live on. As a military man he has a duty to uphold, though he is recently in dubio as to what this duty exactly is and to whom his allegiance belongs. In this time of chaos, Kaul adheres to the values of discipline, efficiency and respect and trusts these will maintain stability.

History & Background:
Born just before the start of the Clone Wars (25BBY), Kaul grew up as a child of Emperor Palpatine’s New Order. For Kaul Bylvers, violence was an exquisitely effective, practical means toward attaining a desired end. His introduction to its virtues came during his childhood, when he was forced to burn down alien farmlands with his intolerant father on Corulag. Bylvers senior was a man whose drive and ambition exceeded his qualities, which turned him into a pathetic figure in Kaul’s later years.

Initially, being younger than ten years of age, Kaul had trouble with placing the wanton viciousness towards non-humans his family exposed him to. Despite his clearly racist upbringing, he took a more pragmatic approach towards employing violence. Especially after his own record started to outshine his unapologetic speciesist father. Nevertheless, Kaul was foisted with his sire’s aspirations for political and military prestige.

Then, in his Imperial Academy days attending the Corulag Imperial Military Academy, competing in the close-combat arena, his brutality earned him accolades as the intramural champion. His military education provided him with much needed refinement, the discipline giving him the means to shackle his early-taught ruthlessness, encouraging the increasingly pragmatic view of life he was adopting. The young Corulag native later transferred to nearby Anaxes, as to receive further formation at the War College there.

Shortly after his graduation, Kaul broke entirely with the idea of ‘high-human culture’, deciding being a proper and loyal Imperial had little to do with one’s racial background. In such a colourful universe, that was a reality one could not aspire to. Uniformity would not be lost. Instead, he measured others by their devotion to the New Order, as well as their skill and efforts in pursuit of their goals.

His initial deployment saw him hunting seditionist cells throughout the Mid and Outer Rim. He was dismayed by the outcome of the Battle of Yavin 4, and had the greatest trouble giving credence to the efficiency of the Rebel Offensive ensuing it. Large chunks of Mid Rim territory were lost to the Rebel Alliance, and pirate raids were able to pierce through the Imperial defence lines. Given insufficient means to repel either Rebels or pirates, Kaul Bylvers nevertheless managed to pull several victories out of the fires engulfing the Mid Rim.

In 3ABY, Kaul participated in the Battle of Hoth, serving under Admiral Piett who had orders to sequester the system. Captaining his Victory II-class, Kaul was commended for his service. Supposedly the apex of his career on the front lines, he was shortly after recalled to the Galactic Core on baseless charges. By now it was becoming increasingly clear to the young officer, that Palpatine was taking leave of reality, letting sycophants and libellers call the shots. Kaul Bylvers felt cheated from his deserved glory, being redeployed in safe sectors for patrol duty; something he saw as little more than forced retirement.

However much he hated policing docile systems, he remained diligent in his tasks, and even put down an uprising and thwarted a Rebel deep strike directed at the energy-supply world of Sarapin. This new mandate, though, would not last very long.

For Kaul Bylvers, following the Emperor’s fatality at Endor, he was shocked at the almost total collapse of the Imperial chain of command. In the ensuing chaos, many Imperials turned on one another, resulting in a disastrous loss of apparel, personnel, ships and cohesion. Nevertheless, the debacle at Endor increased the need of competent officers, and so the fracturing of the Galactic Empire also opened higher tier ranks for capable women.

After a profound purge of Sector Zero’s officer’s cadre, Kaul found himself promoted from Senior Captain to Fleet Admiral. A failed stunt by his predecessor saw him elevated again, to High Admiral. This supposed recognition of his talents by the newly proclaimed Grand Moff Vel, illustrates the need for competent officers in the higher echelons of command post-Endor. These promotions brought with them a ship transfer, leaving Kaul in command of his own Praetor Mark II-battlecruiser.

Bylver’s primary loyalty being to the fleet, he had little difficulty in making the switch to serving the Grand Moff Dashara Vel’s Imperial faction. Kaul believed strongly in the ability of the Empire, and especially its military, to bring order and stability where the Rebel Alliance and New Republic could not. A former Ace Pilot and strong supporter of the Fleet, she represents the best choice for a continued Imperial state.

I'm very much interested in this and by the sounds of it. You seem to be basing this off of the orginal After battle of Endor Lore with things. If it's possible I'd very much like to be Grand Moff Zsinj

Perhaps you've glossed over the OOC information section, but I rather move away from canon characters. Some issues I have with Zsinj (which are not unsurmountable though ;) ): the size of his 'Empire' and the fact he has access to dreadnought-class size ships. Those large vessels are something I've decided not to put in this RP simply because of their sheer power. However, if you are simply wishing to play the persona of Zsinj, I can't say no.

<Snipped quote by Sini>

I just need to decide where to park my Imperial Warlord now XD. By the way just to be clear, are we using the Legends or Disney canon?

Basically run something by me/us when you're in doubt as to that it belongs here. Best advise I can give you is to just stick to the movies, hence why I have this kick off at 4/5ABY.
This is pretty interesting. I just need to finish reading the OP

Thanks! Hope to see you around ;)
