Keeps it a secret because it embarasses her ► Originally an Australian citizen. Her father immigrated to the States with her when she was 4 years old | life at ritman high During her (poor) attendance at Ritman High, Jack was a 'cultured' figure. She didn't see the point in trying to stay with one set of friends, often floating between friend groups and never being too particular about who she hung out with (within reason—it's practically a survival instinct to not hang around with people who would make you the target of unwanted attention). As a result, Jack gained most perspectives on any of the drama that went down, though rarely shared her sage opinion on it. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔In class, she had a lackluster attitude towards education. She wouldn't actively oppose learning and refuse work, but she wouldn't exactly put full effort into tasks, either. Her classroom role was the kid sat doodling at the back of the class, doing the bare minimum and snickering when others acted up. She couldn't be bothered to participate in disruptive behaviour, preferring to just spectate it. When around whichever friend group, Jack held the same attitude—she was barely ever the first to text, the first to start a conversation. Contentment came in being a background figure wherever she hung out, speaking when spoken to or if she felt particularly compelled about a topic of conversation. When she did speak, few words came of it, though interaction with her was worthwhile enough for some people to want to seek it. |
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ power Jack possesses the power of intangibility—she can bypass objects of various materials that are in her way. This is done through minor molecular manipulation, wherein she can make her own molecules pass through the molecules of solid objects. Manipulating her own molecules on an atomic level is subconscious for the most part (and for obvious reasons), but it requires focus and concentration to allow her subconscience to do it. Things like fences and gates are significantly harder to phase through, due to the gaps between the metal. It takes far more brainpower to control as different parts of her body will hit either the metal poles or the air inbetween, therefore needing to phase each area individually. Straining her powers will usually result in nosebleeds, migraines and vertigo. | ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ▼ s t r e n g t h s ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ► Can pass through moving objects as well as stationary ones. ▼ w e a k n e s s e s► While phasing, she is less vulnerable to damage due to the arrangement of her molecules. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ► The faster an object is moving, the less likely she is to pass through it successfully. -► Cannot pass through humans and animals. ► Cannot pass through something thicker than the average concrete wall. ► If she loses concentration, she will stop phasing immediately, trapping her within whatever she is phasing through. |
psyche While years of retail work has made her less idle in her conversation, at her core Jack has changed very little, reflecting the minimal progress she has made in life. She is quick to judgement and slow to lose her preconceived ideas of people—in other words, capable of holding impressive grudges, regardless of whether they are based in fact. This makes for a perilous cocktail when combined with her more susceptible nature. It's not that Jack will believe anything, but rather it costs to be skeptical. She's found it much easier to take any evidence presented as it comes, as nobody is relying on her to discover the 'real truth' anyway. Doubt is reserved for those that are obtusely suspicious, or those she simply dislikes, and she rarely interacts with either. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Even in all her failure at adulthood (of which she is growingly insecure), Jack is very dependable as a person. Her stubbornness owes to her ability to get things done, overshadowed only by her struggle with independence. Provided she's given a clearly defined task, she'll see it through to the end. Her skillset isn't broad, but she'll try. She prefers to leap straight into things without a plan, fixing it as she goes along. Of course, this working spirit is all down-played—god forbid she acknowledge the act of making an effort. It's just what everyone does, right? Hakuna matata. Naturally, Jack downplays all of her positive traits—not just her work ethic. As an ESTP§, she is audacious and creative, allowing her to take new strides that others may not think of in terms of problem-solving. She is observant, able to read the room and understand when she's overstepping boundaries. Not that she'll refrain from doing so, she just has self-awareness of her own 'brutal' honesty. Her imaginitive nature also aids her sociability, making her more desirable in terms of friendship and general association (though she'll often project this trait onto others, making her less tolerant of those she considers boring). No longer is she driven into being passive by the constraints of the organised environment that is high school. |
