@SpawnlingPreemptive question about dorms, before they come into the scene- To what degree are they customised for comfort, as opposed to necessity? What expenses were taken preparing them? For example, a vampire might not need much more than a garlic-free windowless room with a wooden coffin, but they would probably prefer a stone sarcophagus and at least one chandelier (running from stereotypes, anyway).

Your needs are met within a reasonable measure, but price is a factor. A vampire will be put in a room that has no windows, and is furnished much like a regular room, but their coffin would probably be plywood painted black with a cotton padded interior. Not uncomfortable, but affordable.

I'll use your character as an example: She's tall, but humanoid. As such, her bed will be much longer than others, to allow enough space to comfortably lay out on it. However, her desk or cabinets would be regular, as it doesn't actively hinder her well-being if she has to stoop to get things.

The dragons here would get larger rooms, but that is a matter of size, not necessarily comfort. They themselves may find the rooms still rather small, much like a college student would find their room to be small. It suits their needs, but it's far from lavish. Furniture are stock bulk items, generic with only minor modifications as needed. Curtains are basic cloth, everything is a neutral color. Those with wings would not have ceiling fans as the risk of having them injured when stretching would be too high.

The only exception to this is the bathrooms. The baths are VERY large, with oversized showers and actual tubs, that are well maintained. A variety of toilets as well for different anatomy requirements. This is because it's related to hygiene and thus the health of the student.

A good rule of thumb is assume it's cheap, but works. If it's something that would put a strain on the character's health *physical, emotional, or mental* then it's probably a much higher quality than one would expect.

I should probably mention, you guys are NOT the only exchange students, so there's a lot of other species running around.
@Pyromania99

Everyone questions your sanity Pyro. Everyone.
So if a respectable figure of authority ended up a random blob thing. . . ;3

If that is what your character respects and finds calming to be around, while I would question your character's stability, I wouldn't question the form itself. Grey's appearance is based entirely off the individual looking at it, but it is always something the viewer finds calming, respectable, or appealing on an emotional level. That appearance is unique to the individual viewer, and as such no one else ever sees what you see.

Also I'm aware that I closed sign ups, but we have one more character joining...
@gaudi

Grey isn't supposed to be disgusting, intimidating, or difficult to look at, he always appears as a respectable figure of authority to those who view him, just so you know.

Grey's black eyes scanned the students as several approached it, probably drawn by the clipboard in it's limbs. It decided against telling everyone that it was doing crossword puzzles on it. So many questions, so many little minds, curious and worried and eager. Raising a digit to it's mouth, it's voice let out in a soothing tone.

"All questions will be answered in due time. However, at present, I would ask you all to make for the Common Room with little dawdling. It's the main room in that rather large building with the scaffolding still up on it. Rest assured, you are all where you are meant to be, and you are all right on time in all things."

Grey stepped away from the crowd, then with a smile at the pair, added:

"That means you two, Miss Aelonya and Miss Malinal. You may continue the playful banter as you walk."

Without giving any hint at how it knew their names, the being Grey stepped towards more approaching students, guiding and directing. A few groups walked away confused, asking why their friends had used "Sir" or "Ma'am" or had simply stared in silence.
Why would you sit on a dog?

After reading everyone's stories about dogs, this single line made me lose it.

I might not be able to post for a little while on account of me being distracted by dogsitting, so just a heads up.

No fear, thanks for letting us know!
@Cuccoruler

There's currently a very specific reason for the human characters to live in the dorms. However, I'm willing to allow him to live off campus if he's a local from Daelstadht.
@Arty Fox

You still have east and west wings mentioned, don't put anything in there about dorms, rooms, or living conditions at all for now.
@Arty Fox

No problems with the year, problems with the dorms. None of you *humans included* have been assigned dorms of any sort yet. Meaning that West and East thing needs to be altered.

If it helps, any humans who are returning students will find it odd that they have NOT been assigned a dorm yet, and are being asked to attend the orientation in the East Dorm.

@Daird
Sorry, we are currently full up. Next time!
Dael is a german name, usually meant for someone who desires strong family ties or loved ones. It's also a random name I grabbed, so don't put too much thought into it.

I'm surprised so many of us so far have seen Grey as human-ish as opposed to the same species as the perceiving character.

Grey is a being of many many mysteries. The intent is no matter how you view it, it's always seen as a respectable individual of authority.
