I ate a brownie once at a party in college. It was intense. I felt like I was floating. Turns out there wasn't any pot in the brownie. It was just an insanely good brownie.

There was an explosion at a cheese factory in France. De-Brie everywhere.

An 0th post for a taster!

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5428350

The official first post will be up ASAP - for those of you who would like to start an intro, you can expect it to take place the evening after the murder of Gionato and Lucius - where, spooky things will happen! But, as is usual, please refrain from posting in the IC until that post has been made! it will be in the next 24 hours :)

An Evening in Anvil
12 Midyear

It was quiet. Too quiet.

As if the people of Anvil had hurried to bed. Barred their doors and bunkered down to hide from the bright moon that bore down like a giant eye watching every winding path, glaring at each shelter, each slope of a roof that cast a safe shadow to escape it.

The streets were all but empty save for one gentleman, Gionato, who staggered away from a broken window. His wallet heavier, and his pocket-knife slick with blood, he pulled his hood over his head, pulling the drawstring tight around his collarbone as he kept to the darkness and away from the pale.

He should have worried less about the light.

Behind him, a shape that he did not detect - moved near silently, slowly, stalking - a predator. A claw like hand twitched at blood that dripped from the blade of his knife as he scurried faster still through the night.

He thought he was safe.

Gionato knew about the killings. The first had been Maebh, a Nord woman who worked at the docks. The second an older man named Alastare, who, according to many, was just an old pervert. A seamstress and a barkeep. Finally, the third had been a guardsman - his body washed up on the shore all bloated and grey.

Those three weren't him though, besides, he could handle himself. By tomorrow morning, the death and robbery of Lucius Vedori would also be attributed to this other killer.

Gionato, as well as being a petty criminal turned murdering thug, was simply criminally stupid.

He turned the key to his front door, hearing it open with a click. It wasn't until he arrived home that the thrill of his kill hit him, and his hands began to shake - a fear set in that mixed with pride and excitement - his belly hungry for more of it as he finally felt the stickiness of blood across his shirt, under his fingernails, on his chin, his cheek.

As he made his way in, his mouth formed a rictus grin in the shadows. He kneeled down at his hearth, the silent light of the moon trickling through the window, a gap in a makeshift curtain, enough for him to find a flint and some kindling. After a moment or two, his hearth was filling with a small and crackling flame, and he began to calm from the adreneline. He placed the bloody knife beside him, and began to peel off his shirt - a thought that it would burn up quickly on the flames.

“Hello,” came a smooth, clear voice from behind him.

He turned around, faster than a startled doe at the sound of a twig snapping. There. In the corner. A figure, on his chair.

The light wasn’t enough to show a face -- but she was distinctively feminine, at least the voice was. “Wh-who goes there?” he stammered out, taking hold of the poker with his clammy grip.

He sensed the stranger stand up, and as the fire grew greater he began to make out a shape. Tall, a slender waist, and long hair the colour of the moonlight. He swallowed down and realised he had nowhere to go. He was too frightened to stand. “I-I-I have children… You know that… I have children…” he pleaded, brow sweating profusely. In the flickering light of the fire he finally made out her face. Whatever he had been expecting, it hadn’t been this.

She closed the distance between herself and Gionato.

He swore that he heard the glint of her blade as the moonlight struck it. That was the last thing he heard, before she smiled peacefully at him, after that, only true darkness.

I'm really happy with all sheets and character proposals here - I know some are still a WIP, but the vibe and excitement of everyone here is fantastic - happy to have history in bullet points if it's easy :)

Thank you everyone for choosing to join this game! It's been a wee while since I've GM'd anything, and I'm trying to take what I've learned along the way and make this a good, fun game.

For any other interested writers - this game will never be "full" and you can always apply - I just ask that you know enough about where the story currently is in order to make an entrance if it's later down the track. I may have you hold off for a story moment or something.

First post coming very soon - I'm looking forward to the intros, the collabs, and the joy (and horrors!) to come! :)
10/10.

Will pm the link for discord Server for the game :) make sure to let me know who you are if your user name is different!
Thank you for all the responses to this RP so far! And a thank you for sheets completed so far also -- I will have a great time reviewing these shortly!

Apothecarists, noobs, and old timers absolutely welcome!

An Elder Scrolls horror roleplay, inspired by both The Elder Scrolls and the ambience of acclaimed Witcher series. This roleplay is a reboot of Days of Night, and will lend from horror tropes and tales from mythology. A macabre experience bound in the high-fantasy setting we have come to know and love.

This game is for you if you enjoy collaborating with other writers, and if you enjoy building a storyline for yourself.

4E213

Evil is afoot in Tamriel. Everything feels different and unsettled. You dreamed of Anvil in a way that felt like a calling, and so - from wherever you were born, from wherever you once called home - you traveled to it's golden shores.

Everything is not as it seems. The days seem shorter and the nights much longer, with a chill in the air that draws a tension to the City. People are quieter, and people are going missing. The barkeep who served you an ale last night is nowhere to be seen today. The woman who sold you a new garment last week has disappeared without a trace.

There are whispers of a silent killer.

Why are you here? Why did you answer to those dreams?

Noteworthy - World State

  • The year is 4E213, the Stormcloaks were defeated and Skyrim sits under the Empire. The Dragonborn has not been seen since the Battle at Windhelm. Empire and Dominion have a tense peace. Presumed dead. No dragons remain in Skyrim.
  • Individual guild/school states to be confirmed;
  • State of provinces to be confirmed;

  • No Godmodding or Powerplaying. This is a story, not a competition to be Billy or Betty Badass. Keep your characters balanced. I don't want to enforce strict rules that stifle your creativity in creating a character, I will always be reasonable and work with you to create a compelling character with the skills that you want but you have to be prepared to tone things down if necessary.
  • While this is advanced level, I'm not hung up on novel length posts. I'm looking for players who can write well enough, collaborate with other players, and keep the momentum of the story. No pressure, we're here for fun.
  • Be considerate, communicate. If you can't post for whatever reason, just let me know. If you're working on collabs with other players, let them know too.
  • Be kind. I really, really, really don't want dick behaviour in the OOC, it doesn't foster the kind of atmosphere I like to create. So be nice to each other, respectful, and helpful. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I will remove people who start ruining the groove.
  • Keep it PG-13. You know the rules of the guild. No naughty posts in the IC. If you really have to, take it to PM.
  • Have fun. The most important rule of all.

    Noteworthy:
  • Due to the setting of this game, please be aware that your characters will be exposed to perilous situations from time-to-time. They can get hurt, they can get very hurt. Please be mindful when engaging in combat of your skills and setbacks, and who is around to help you should you get very hurt.
  • Please no prior relationships with canonical characters from any of The Elder Scrolls games. If you wish to write up prior relationships with other player characters within the game, then by all means please do so as it can be fun. But it's also just as fun to be ~total strangers~...
  • Be sensible in your capabilites. That means try not to weigh down your character with a full inventory. We’ve all been there in game, with that one extra cabbage tipping us over the edge! I like to play TES roleplays realistically - and anything that your character has, must be explained in some way. For example, if they are carrying a lot of money on them - why is this? Are they from a rich family? They have a pretty swish weapon but pretty basic armour? Was it an heirloom? These are things I will question on sheets.
  • Vampires/Were/Undead characters will not be accepted at initial application stage. Despite the setting, the start of the roleplay will not allow for those characters - there is always opportunity for those storylines to occur, and further down the line in the roleplay there may be openings for characters of a grizzlier nature. But for the beginning, a character like that is simply too different from the initial cast. With that in mind, I am always open to your ideas so please talk to me in advance.

Noteworthy:

  • Applications welcome. Please complete the sheet to the best of your ability. No places will be given as first-come-first-served. I will review all sheets after a length of time has passed, and I have been able to answer questions. Loose deadline currently at; 28th February
