So much for waiting patiently for everyone else to post... I'll probably work on my Nightmare and Gunfighter concepts and have a CS up for each in the next day or two

Edit: A few questions btw, how much time has passed since the Imperiums fell and where is this RP based? Is it the same as it was in the interest check?

approx. 12-13 years I believe

Just got hit with a BUCKET of work guys, I should be back on track by the weekend
Whole lot of anime, woah.

It might take me until after the new year to get up my feedback (I'd like to do a thorough readthrough), but just from a quick glance, they both look very interesting! Just a quick thing, @DocRock, if my memory serves me, you might need to remove the noparse tags to get the coding to work.

@Stern Algorithm @DocRock @Shadow Daedalus @rush99999 @Bone Father @snek dkles @Soren @King Kindred @Sunbather

Think I did everything right. Please post your sheets there for review (doesn't matter where, tbh.)

:) Thanks for all of your interest.

Backstory

Galaxies away from the planet Earth exists another planet called Mustraphus. Mustraphus had formed a powerful galactic military empire in a distant galaxy, forged upon the usage of technology far beyond anything that Earth had ever seen before. This alien domain had developed massive amounts of military technology, used to consolidate power across their kingdom, and in the year VVKL090 (in human terms, year 2031), the leader of the Mustraphians sent High General Viadite to escort a transport ship by convoy to a military base on a distant moon at the edge of their territorial control. The cargo? A large shipment of intelligent microbes that enhance the abilities of the Mustraphians that it attaches to.

Viadite, a power-hungry general who desired his own empire that could rival that of the Emperor’s, quickly took the ship off-course, launching it at maximum speed into the galaxy identified as “Gamma Alcyoneus,” or as we know it, the Milky Way.

The fatal flaw in Viadite’s plan was that the transport ship could not handle above-light speed travel for extended periods of time, and several parts of it quickly disintegrated as it neared Earth, including portions of the hull that wrapped around the cargo bay, causing the sample to be released. The explosion caused several thousands (the number is currently unknown) of tubes to fall down onto the East Coast of the United States of America, before the ship crash-landed into the Sahara Desert, to never be seen by human eyes, and with Viadite's plan never coming to fruition.

His actions did have major consequences, though, and would shape the human world for decades to follow.

The microbe, titled “Imperium” by the human scientists, is a conundrum to all scientists to have ever seen it before. Each “Imperium” microbe is entirely unique and quickly bonds to the first primate that it encounters. Each “Imperium” is also capable of “communicating” with its bonded lifeform by sending vague messages through the nerves. If an Imperium is happy, it may send a flood of endorphins; if it’s angry, it may send a blast of pain. But most notably, Imperiums grant every host that it attaches to two distinct abilities- Powers and Pitfalls.

Powers are your everyday superpowers- fire manipulation, flight, et cetera. Every microbe, being different and unique, grant their host their own power, which they can use generally use with at least a moderate degree of control.

Pitfalls, on the other hand, are major weaknesses that Imperiums also bring. Pitfalls just as unique as powers, but are severe limiting factors that most humans are fine with.

The threat of Imperiums and their hosts is a new one, and one the slow-moving democratic body of the N.A.L.O.C. (North American Legion Of Countries) dealt with in the most passive way possible- establishing the Department of Imperial Management (with their acronym being as dim as their officers), a slow-moving bureaucratic department that has insofar failed to address the problems of rising numbers of Host supervillains. Indeed, the job of dealing with caped villains are often caped vigilantes, rising against the law to use their powers for good. Most of the hero activity is centered in the megacity of New America City, or NAC for short, as that’s where the cargo was originally sprinkled when Veidite’s ship crashed.

With new threats around every corner, from crazed villains to disgruntled alien generals, a group of courageous heroes may be crucial to save the Earth.

Hopefully their Pitfalls don’t get in the way.

Character Creation

@The Fool

What are we supposed to put in Imperium Name?

@The Fool When you say 'Imperium Name', what do you mean? Do they have given birth names, or is it more like names/nicknames given by the hosts as a sort of identifier?

Ah, forgot to mention that, my bad. Imperium names are names that the Host sort of "term" the Imperium, like a nickname. Turns out I didn't end up noting that.

Sounds good, I just got home and free, so that's nice.

For appearance, can a reference image, like a faceclaim, be slotted in for usage?

No. I'd like an actual description at the very least, with a faceclaim being optional (but heavily recommended for.)

I'll be done with the thread hopefully soon.
This reminds me of an anime series I used to watch, I'd be more than interested in participating in this! If you don't mind, that is.

Sure, np. Welcome to the club!

Thread should be up tomorrow. In the meantime, have a CS! Any questions, please ask away!

Alright, thanks for providing clarity, I'll get working on a character sheet soon. Stuck on a faceclaim, but I can always attribute strange aspects of a FC to either body modifications, or a costume part. Do you have a character sheet I can use?

Working on it right now! Should be finished by tomorrow or the day after, latest.

Seems like a pretty fun concept. Consider me interested. Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but what sort of limitations would be present? Aside from base galaxy tier and the likes.

It depends. I'd say that the cap is at building-level destruction, but with sufficient weaknesses as well. I'm really looking at it case-by-case, though.
@Stern Algorithm
Every good hero needs an equally good rival, right?

@The Fool
You did mention a need for it to be scientifically sound, so that's partly why I was stuck on things. I might just go for the enhanced genius route, as that's an archetype I'm good with, and have played before. Though is there a specific character sheet template we need to have? I also need to locate a faceclaim, but I think I have one in mind, would it be fine if the super genius I use disguises themselves as another villain? Would this world have awareness of some video game villains? Because I could see them pretending to be a mad scientist from a given series, and use that to hide their true nature, and thus, make it easier to operate in public when not doing villainy?

Don't get hung up on the pseudo-science part! That requirement is only in place to fit the tone of the RP and cut out the really OP powers (reality warping, etc.)

Disguises are OK, sure.

@The Fool

Where would an average human be in the S-F scale?

D.
Color me interested, I'm leaning towards either something to do with controlling technology, if that's remotely possible, but if not, uh, I can try and come up with something else. Someone like Magneto I have no doubt is probably offlimits due to how crazy his incarnations can get, nor did I have precise interest in being that type of power. Any uh, advice is welcome, though I suppose general purpose elemental manipulation(earth, water, fire, wind) could work, or a transformation of some sort.

This looks like it could be loads of fun! Come to think of it, I could play a bad guy type role, a person who gained super genius traits or something. Became like a Doctor Eggman type villain? Just brainstorming.

I have a couple of ideas, from the fairly mundane 'enhanced physicality' (based in adrenal enhancement) to full on Nightmare Enducing Demon-form (Hormonal/pheromone based). If I had to condense them down, I've got:

1) John Wick on Speed, Steroids and Endorphines (A physically enhanced gunfighter)
2) Kaminari and Raiden's angsty lovechild (Lightning based powers)
3) Human Darkrai with a liberal dash of Scarecrow (a combination of fear and transformative based powers)
4) Nanomachines, Son (seamless Biological integration and interaction with technology)
5) Unlimited Blade Works (blade-based Psionics)
6) Angery Dragon-boi (draconic mutation)

So pick which sounds the best and I'll go with that, I guess.

I'm not here to pick your preferences. In the end, it all comes down to what you think you're able to make a character out off. All of the ideas you listed are perfectly within boundaries for this RP, if that's your question. Just pick whatever you think you'd enjoy RPing the most.
I'll throw my hate in the ring and see what happens

no hating the RP please :p

Color me interested, also I'm claiming the number: YF66613

Would like to take a stab at a character who essentially wants to be this universe's Nick Fury, and create the first official (and decently competent) superhero team, despite DIM's previous mistakes.

Sounds good!

I've got a question about the types of powers that the Imperiums can grant; Are they more mystical and fantastical, like magic or The Force, or are they more based in pseudo-science like X-men-style mutations?

X-men style for sure. You must be able to back your power with some crazy science-y description, no matter how "pseudo" it is.

I've finally figured out what kind of character I'll make so here's my interest.

cooleo.

Working out the kinks in the CS and actual thread, should be up 1/1/19 at the latest. Formatting here isn't that bad compared to other places, so I'm breezing through that part, just need to actually write :p.
