Marrie Knight

Marrie liked to label herself as observant, but having been triple checking herself for a possible battle, she missed seeing Boteg's hint that he wasn't doing well. That is, until he exclaimed his confusion at Himiko. At which point he had her full attention.

"Hey now. Let's not aggravate the really cool dragon, okay?" she called up to the girl she only knew as Sovereign. "And maybe don't ask for someone's blood, like... at all, but especially not when just meeting them. Makes you sound like a serial killer, or something." Truth be told, Marrie wouldn't be super surprised if Sovereign turned out to be a maniac, but she hoped that she wouldn't prove herself to be one.

She also waved again, this time directly at the esper who had already been there when she arrived, but from the look of her and the assumption that she was a Maverick esper, it didn't surprise Marrie that the girl seemed to be sulking. Or rather, antisocial to some degree. Though that might be unfair to the girl. It wasn't like she herself was especially social either, though she was much more... she would charitably say "shy," and uncharitably perhaps call herself "terrified of making people upset," than this other girl seemed to be. At least as far as first impressions go.

Marrie Knight

It was a good thing that the job was posted with time to spare. It meant that Marrie had time to rest, after another day of training. The last time she'd given herself a break was when she and Walking Church had met Oliver, so a two day break leading up to today was a welcome relief. It also gave her time to buy ammunition, just in case. After all, if it came down to humans being the problem, as unlikely as that may be, it was better to be prepared than have to save mana. She glanced over the details of her mission one more time, and the two she had rejected as well. It sucked that she had to turn down Raphael's version of the job, but...

If Marrie had her way, she'd save both of the behemoths. But was she really going to fight other espers, G.E.M.I.N.I. directly, to save a monster that would almost certainly not survive against them? And what if she tried and failed, or the monster ended up being evil? She couldn't risk that. This was her trolley problem, to choose to sacrifice herself trying to save something that was presumably doomed or to try to save something that was likely to survive. Her id and superego both wanted so badly to choose the former, but rationality won out in the end. She'd save the one who could survive, and hope that the other avoided combat in the first place. And if all went perfectly, maybe she'd get her wish anyway. Preferably with little to no bloodshed on any side, though she knew that was a pipe dream.

Which meant that she was headed to meet up with Maverick Alternative once again. As she biked her way to the meeting place, she couldn't shake the thought that things would go exactly against how she hoped. That the behemoth she expected to fight G.E.M.I.N.I. would be the kind one, and that the one she would presumably interact with first would be the evil one. But she held out hope that together with Maverick, they'd save them both regardless of her preconceptions. Regardless of what was sure to be reality.

Marrie had ducked into an alleyway to transform before continuing biking her way to where she was told to go. When she turned the final corner, she couldn't help but stop her peddling and freeze in place. A dragon, a real, genuine dragon, sat on the roof of where she was going. She could only stare in amazement up until the thought of it getting hurt burst its way into her mind. But that just meant she had a bigger target than usual to protect, and she wasn't going to allow herself to fail this time, regardless.

Picking up her bicycle and walking the rest of the way, she would have waved if her hands weren't full as she called out to the golden dragon and what seemed to be the only other person, presumably an esper as well, that was with it.

"Hey! How's it going? Here's hoping for an easy time, for once." She placed her bike against the front of the garage. She'd prepped for the mission when she transformed earlier, donning her kevlar coat and hiding it under her Style, making sure her tungsten rod and pistol were within easy reach and that the gun had plenty of ammo. Now all she needed to do was wait for any other allies and make sure she kept everyone and everything alive that she could. Barring any evil garbage that might be involved, of course.

"Who could have possibly seen this coming?"

Too bad we don't have a lion...

It turned out that Acid Drop wouldn't have to do the running around she had expected. She probably wouldn't have been able to anyway, with Earthshaker taking her name literally right nearby. The girl with the rainbow hair found herself stumbling around for a few moments as what could only generously be called a "plan" worked itself out. Nyxia, perhaps predictably, chose to injure her club-mate in her attempt to summon enemies that would require her victim to help fight. Watching as her magic made things even less under control than they would be anyway, Acid Drop couldn't help but wonder if acquiescing to Roche was the right decision. People were running, at least those that weren't falling over from the ground shaking, and it looked like there wasn't going to be a payoff other than that, after all.

By the time Earthshaker stopped doing what she was best at, Tsubomi could already see that her partner was in pretty rough shape. If there was going to be any Miseria showing up, the chance of the four of them stopping everyone on the beach from getting hurt was minuscule. So instead she chose to go to Oros and pick her up. She was just about to position her piggyback when the Miseria did start to show. No boss monster, yet at least, but way more than she felt would be beatable with the now only three dark magical girls who could fight.

Still, she carried Oros over to the remaining beach-goers, and made a quick request. "... Is there any chance you can restrain everyone, so they don't get in the way?" She hadn't looked away from the coming waves of the black masses, but she knew that if it were possible, then Oros would make it happen. Maybe not in the most efficient or effective way, maybe somehow that would end up being more trouble, but that didn't matter right now anyway. Oros wouldn't be able to fight, and as far as Acid Drop knew nobody there could heal her.

Pulling her weapon from her sleeve, and still staring at the approaching enemies, Acid Drop directed her next words toward Earthshaker and Nyxia. "Next time, let's think for, I don't know, maybe five seconds instead of two."

Well, with someone dropping out, if you decide there's still room I might try to write up a sheet for this. Not the biggest sci-fi person but I figure it's worth at least making a cs for this if there's a spot open.
"I wonder if this is going to work..."

I'm more curious how people will rationalize this.

For the shortest of seconds, Acid Drop wondered if she was bad at explaining things. But that went away when she saw Oros begin rolling sandballs across the beach. Her plan was good, that would certainly attract attention, though that meant the boss would probably get mad at them all later. Or worse, more magical girls would show up to town. But that was an issue for their future selves. For now, Nyxia wanted her to get to work, so she did. As the shape in front of the crowd formed and unformed, she began to pour some of her magic into the blood and the sand. It wouldn't be as good as being ingested, but the presumable coming contact would be better than nothing.

Acid Drop glanced at Earthshaker, wondering what she was going to do. Well, it didn't really matter as long as it was something to keep the crowd from running too far. It didn't take a long time before the sculpture was full of magic and primed with fear, panic, and anxiety. She didn't quite think that panic was a good idea, but hey, that's what her club-mate had requested. Just to be safe, she also went around the crowd to the other side, ready to try to stop any runners, or make contact to up the emotional tension should the need arise. She waved at Nyxia and gave a thumbs up.

"Nyxia is normally much more manic than this."

Poor Roche...

Acid Drop froze as Earthshaker shouted her response to her question. As the tan girl turned back into Roche, her words changed as well, far away from those of her normal self. Tired, and it didn't take any magic sense to be able to notice it. But even at her now "normal" processing speed, Tsubomi still didn't fully absorb the things Roche said until after Oros had replied and put her arm around the rainbow-haired girl. She filed away a certain comment from her partner for later reflection, and made sure to help keep her upright when she lurched forwards.

Now that Roche was talking to the air in front of her, according to what any bystanders would see and hear at least, Acid Drop had the nagging thought that the way she herself had transformed might have caused some panic already. Oh well. More importantly, Roche was making it rather clear to all three of the non-empath girls how she actually felt about Nyxia. As it was... the plan had some merit. But even the meanest one had noticed a certain flaw or two. So Acid Drop tapped her chin in thought for a moment, then spoke.

"While drinking will make it easier and stronger, I can affect people with touch, or even from a distance. The effect gets weaker and it takes more the farther the distance from me though. Which is the main reason I would put the magic in drinks, since it gets directly inside someone, there's a lot less resistance. It's probably the second fastest, after just shoving a finger in someone's mouth or something..."

She closed her eyes and continued. "Buuuuuuut, if I can't touch all of them, and it needs to be just one feeling, a conduit would be helpful. Trying to keep it all from just flowing away with the tide would be tough, though." She glanced at Nyxia. "The big problem is the identity thing. In order to put on a show, they couldn't be transformed, and if they're visible, all it would take is one video of them doing actual magic and we might bring in more than just Ash's attention." Not to mention that Nyxia's normal form was handicapped, right?

There was the sound of a "bang" in Tsubomi's mind, almost enough to startle her, but she didn't know why or where it came from. With it came an idea. It'd take a little work, but...

"If you're really that into doing this, we can try. If we get a few of them to feel something strong enough, and can stop anyone from leaving our sight, I can probably spread that around from person to person, then change it into something more palatable to Miseria... We'll probably get in trouble for causing a big scene by trapping people from leaving the area, since we'd have to, but it might work."

"Are you really sure you want that?"

It's getting difficult to find secrets for these...

"Good point, good point." It would definitely be better for Suki to heal than trick normies into kissing her. And spiking the water, really? It was the ocean. Even as she was now, she didn't think she could infuse magic into that much. It wasn't like everyone was drinking from a well or anything. Besides, Oros was completely right. And- Ouch, the way she was standing looked really bad. Was she okay?

"Are you okay there, Oros?" She walked to her side. "That's a pretty bad one. Nice umbrella, though." And then Nyxia had to speak up. The insults broke around her like the waves did for the laser-propelled duo, doing just about as much damage as well.

She tapped her pointer finger to the side of her head. "Mmm... I mean, I could. Especially with all the savings I've done. But let's think about this for like, two more seconds. If the people here aren't close enough to each other, then running away in terror won't build up a mass of fear in a close enough space. And if we summon a bunch of Miseria, and everyone does run away, how are we supposed to keep everyone alive? If someone gets half a kilometer away and gets attacked while we're here, then we'll have killed someone. The one real rule. Plus, I'm not even sure that influenced emotions will summon them! They're immune to my magic, mostly, so it wouldn't be surprising if trying to make one failed outright. And lastly... Why? Is it worth a month or two of stocking to summon what might be a handful of regular losers that we can find in the city anyway? None of them seem to be working for us, so why would some here do it?"

Acid Drop wasn't ignorant of the effect that magic running through her had on her mind. If anything, she was glad for it, because she could actually think sometimes. But at the same time, it meant being on edge, having her guard up at all times while it was there. Eventually it would get tiring, but for now she was going to take advantage of the mostly clear head as much as she could.

Shion Kana

Crap! She was hit, but she was lucky to get away with only a single slice. She was also lucky that Ageha fell like an angel from heaven to slay the other hollow, leaving Shion time to- Nope, Mei-san got it. At least the hollows were gone, though they didn't seem to be dying like the one she fought before. These were definitely doing... something, though what she didn't know. As Mei-san explained that Jinzo was in trouble, Shion was torn. If she didn't help, he might die. If she did, there might be other hollows that attack the humans. And what if Mei went after the guy who helped her? She shook her head clear, she didn't have time to worry about maybes.

"Okay. Please protect everyone here, Mei-san. We'll head to the warehouse." She turned away and jumped into the air, flash-stepping towards where Jinzo was.

When she arrived, she saw Jinzo trying his best to fight off a giant hollow, alongside dogs that she could only assume were the result of some kind of Kido. And worse still, there appeared to be another of the hollow forming from the ashes of the ones the others had defeated. How was that possible? She didn't have time to think about it, she used Shunpo once more to appear behind the forming hollow, hoping against hope that her idea would work. She looked at the hollow in front of her, then at the one that was fighting Jinzo; she believed she had the measurements right. Shion plunged her sword into the air where the mask of the hollow was forming with the intention to slay it either as it built itself around it or immediately after it finished.

"Running away from an almost fair fight, huh?"

Man, Oros almost lasted out of water as long as Concord...

Well then. Tsubomi was expecting a number of things, but a DBZ dragon-throw was not one of them. As she skidded across the water like a stone, she wondered what the enemy girl's magic might be. Then she fell under the surface and those thoughts vanished under the waves as well. The water made it hard to see what happened, but when she resurfaced and made it to the beach, Oros was there, asking for mouth-to-mouth. Seconds later came Nyxia, asking if she could cause a mass panic.

Acid Drop considered for the briefest of moments. Sure, she could do that. But so could any magical girl, if they tried. Besides, a fight was one thing, was it worth it to stay in magical form just to scare some normies?

"Probably. But you could do that just with your laser, right? Just 'Boom,' giant laser in the sky, and everyone will be terrified."

Satisfied that Nyxia would be satisfied, she walked over to Oros. "Hey there, you okay? That's a pretty bad wound on your back. Did that short girl really do that much damage? It looked like she was trying to drown you..." Her words trailed off. Who was that girl, anyway? Given the way she talked, she should be pretty easy to pick out. And why did she have this nagging feeling that she'd heard someone talk like that before? Hmm... But back to the present.

"If you really need mouth-to-mouth, maybe transform back and we can get someone over to do that?"

"I heard that, Magnetite!"

That better not be what I think it is.

At first, the rainbow haired girl thought the other two were about evenly matched, but that was quickly put to rest as the Light Girl shoved Oros under the water with her shield. Though not before saying something ominous about recognizing Oros. Could this be a former teammate of hers? Or was she a member of Snap's crew, sent ahead of the rest to test their progress? The light reflecting off the water and personified right above it were problematic for Acid Drop, and more importantly, for her partner. She shielded her eyes with one hand as she sunk below to where it could no longer reach. Once she hit the bottom and confirmed that Oros was still bubbling out, she jumped as hard as she could towards Morganite's location, not quite straight upwards.

As the rainbow burst from the water like the sign from god it's claimed to be, she grabbed the Light Girl tightly by the neck. She also made sure to throw in a heaping surge of diffidence into the smaller magic user as she did. All she had to do was force the feeling into her until she pulled away her shield from Oros. She'd figure out what to do next then, but for now the important thing was saving Suki.
