Yuki looked uncomfortable standing outside of the hospital. Her ears twitched fitfully under her hood and it was obvious that she didn't want to be here. THey could have met the girl at school or at home. Why did it have to be at a hospital, why this hospital?

She cast a disapproving look at Kaori in the nurses uniform. Well, it looked less to Yuki like a uniform and more like a costume that catered to certain tastes. With any luck perhaps they would never have to meet outside of a police station... or a school.

Maybe Yuki could arrest her for public indecency?

Shir made a more conservative bet, still slowly wrapping her head around the difference in card ranking with this version of the game. Maybe later in the evening she could simply win some money off of the pair. Her elbows rested on the table as she relaxed her posture.

"And what kind of quests do you two usually partake in? I personally try to stick to those that take me out at night, crypts and undead are also likely options."

Her shadow walked around to the other side of the table, making a show of glancing at the cards held by Liliane. Even if she couldn't see what they were, the knife fighters reaction could be very telling.

His sword sang as it sprang from it's sheath, moving instantly to a guard position. The immediate threat was taken care of but there was still the possibility of additional assailants. THe tip ofd the weapon wandered, lingering momentarilly on one guest or another as he sized them up.

"Stay vigilant!"

He kept his guard up and moved closer to the captain. Indrau paid little attention to the already subdued assassin outside of the breifest of glances. This one, at least, was no longer a threat. His eyes scanned the room carefuly.

"Should we move the princess to another room? We don't know if there are other assassins."
Name: Fukuyama Yuki (Fuyuko)
Age: 212
Gender: Female
Race: Kitsune
Appearance:

Her true self takes the form of a light grey, verging on white arctic fox. She can hide her ears and tail in her human form but it becomes uncomfortable after some time.
Personality:
Fuyuko has been unfortunately influenced by too much time spent watching American crime dramas. The result is that she is crude, sarcastic, and has a dark sense of humor. Even having her attitude skewed in such a way she takes her job seriously. Yuki is driven by a need to fulfill a promise to help people wherever she can. Even though she is old by humans standards, from a foxes point of view she is still younger than many and quite naive but very honest. Yuki can slip into a melancholic mood if a remark stirs the wrong memory.
Abilities:
Yuki retains the standard set of Kitsune powers, first among those is the ability to shapeshift between human and fox forms, even taking the form of another human for a time. She can also conjure foxfire and create illusions like the one that disguises the abandoned house that she calls home.
Skills:
Despite her lax attitude, Yuki is a very skilled investigator. Her kitsune nature means that she has a very high intelligence. Yuki excels at police procedures and crime solving. She caught on quickly to most human technologies like cell phones and the internet. Unfortunately driving is still beyond her grasp.
Equipment:
Nothing but her skills, personality and authority.
Brief Backstory:
As many tales go a person out late at night encountered a beautiful woman out late at night, fell in love and married them. The human in this case was a young police officer, Fukuyama Yuki, who fell in love with the fox spirit Fuyuko. They lived happily and soon the police officer was made a detective, enjoying a successful career and a happy marriage.

The story diverges from the tradition here, however. The kitsune stayed with her lover for years until the human grew ill and no wisdom of the fox could save her. The fox confessed her identity at the side of her lovers deathbed and made a promise to help people where she could and uphold the law.

Taking her beloved's name and appearance, the fox took over her lovers life where it was cut short. Fuyuko, under the guise of Fukuyama Yuki continued to uphold the laws of man and help out wherever she could.

all done!

"I am Shir Anders, summoner of shadows and Four of Wands."

Shir shrugged as Roan left. He hadn't been terribly interested in a game with him or in taking on a quest. She eyed the cards on the table.

"Tarot?" Shir tapped her finger on the table. "And a Ithillin styled deck, isn't it more common to play with three? We use a slightly different set of rules and even a different deck in Thaln. You may have me at a disadvantage."

Shir picked up her hand and examined the cards. She rearranged them slightly.

"Have you two found any of the posted requests to be to your liking?"

Gerards sudden appearance caught his attention. Indrau took a couple of steps closer to the captain and the princess, settling both hands on the head of his cane, left over right. He stood casually but his shoulders were tense under his coat as he leaned closer to Gerard. He had been about to ask what had caught his attention when a commotion from the gardens caught his eye.

He was close enough to hear most of what was said, and it was enough to catch his interest. He looked around and spotted Tyeathe moving closer. He nodded in her direction. Indrau turned back to Gerard and the Captain. He almost relished the opportunity to have something to do, even if it turned out to be nothing.

"My advice is to not speak unless you have something of import to say. You seem to be doing well so far. Let someone know if anything else comes to mind."

He hopped the young knight caught the meaning behind his message. The head of his cane rotated with a click that was inaudible below the conversation in the room. Now only friction held the magic deadening blade from being unveiled.

Shir had been about to respond when they were interrupted by another adventurer. She looked from him to the stack of cards and back.

"Were were actually about to start a game of cards." She gestured at the table. "We were actually about to enjoy a game of cards, perhaps someone else might actually be interested in you joining them..."

She gave him a pointed look before turning back to the Hundi couple and gestured for Corrine to deal out hands. She had little patience for someone so blunt that they wouldn't try to have a conversation before trying to work their way into a group. The shadow by her side continued to stare at him for a moment longer before turning away with a dismissive shrug.

One of the two looked more suited to be working a business in a city than adventuring. Her partner looked decidedly more dangerous and possibly carried the other one through jobs. The first one was likely another mage, possibly of some power since she had partnered with someone that looked as competent as the second.

"I am merely very pale, no need to worry about my health but I unfortunately sunburn easily on such bright days." She gestured to the shadow. "I do much better in the dark. Maybe we could spend some time here and see what the evening brings."

It was a terrible summer's day. The sun was shining dreadfully, the birds were making a cacaphony of noise, and people out clogging the streets. In short, a terrible day to be outside and any who were willingly were clearly insane.

A pale, dark haired girl pressed herself deeper intro the shadows against a building, her imagination conjuring burning and blackened skin at the merest thought of venturing into the sunlight. But she had no choice but to venture out this far. Her small room that she rented had become stifling even with the windows covered.

Summer was clearly the worst time of year. Shir would much rather be back on the east coast where there was at least the chance of a cool breeze of of the sea. She sighed. At least this wasn't Thaln. "What a pain..."

She had another reason to venture out on such an unfortunate day. She was almost out of money and across the street lay the adventurers guild. She grimaced and picked thje nearest patch of shadow before dashing across the street and into the guild hall.

There were somer new faces in there. Usually she came in the middle of the night but the heat of the dayhad forced her out. She walked around the outside of the room to get to the quest board, her shadow not quite matching her movements. Maybe there would be a nice cool dungeon she could check out.

The conflict near the quest board became more involved as someone else stepped in. She stopped next to a table already acting as a seat to a pair of hundi and sat down near the end of the bench. She reached down and drew up a shadowy figure that say next to her.

"Have you two already taken up a request then?"

@Raineh Daze

Rook listened carefully to the rules. He had been hoping for a more open ended contest that might allow him to win some concessions from the dragon-girl but this would have to do.

"This sounds straightforward enough. I was hoping you would offer something up to the victor."

He stepped out quickly and took a card at random and then grabbed a brush and ink from his bag. He turned the card over and signed his name across the back, fanning it dry before handing it back. He gave her a wink.
