The Ubi Vermis

Description of Governement:

All Ubi Vermis submit to the all knowing will of the Matriarch. Free will between the ubi vermis is considered taboo.

Main race: Ubi Vermis

The Ubi Vermis are a worm-like race that live within their hosts most of their lives. From the moment they exit the eggs laid by the Matriarch, they are hers to command. While mostly defenseless while outside a host, they become stronger when infecting a creature. As soon as they enter a host's body either by entering through an open orifice,an open wound or by making a small incision with their small but sharp teeth, they make their way to the host's brain and assume complete control. When the control is established, the host's body starts changing itself at DNA level and 'thus enhancing the host's natural abilities. Be them simply a greater physical strength and a higher regenerative ability or changing the host's DNA in a way that would make him a monster in the eyes of his brethren.
Ubi Vermis can enter the host's body and stay in a "latent" phase for as long as the host doesn't die / make an X-ray control 'thus making the worm visible.
In their natural form, a Ubi Vermis can withstand extreme temperatures (from -100°C to 150°C). They can burrow into the ground using their teeth while also being able to cut through ice and low level materials (plastic and the like).

Minority races:

Uninfected humans, Ubi Vermis that have not infected humans and Fugere Explosiva

Fugere Explosiva are the first race that the Ubi Vermis infected when the first Matriarch evolved. Flying creatures that are akin to flies from Earth except for their natural ability explode at will, spewing their acid blood in a 1 meter radius and their size (big enough to be able to hold a human on their backs).

Demography:

60% humans, 30% latent Ubi Vermis infected humans, 5% Ubi Vermis and 5% Fugere Explosiva

Religion:

The Matriarch is their Goddess

Culture:

The Ubi Vermis don't have a culture per se. Because of the Hive-Mind is their will and thought. The Ubi Vermis adapt to the culture of the hosts they inhabit so that they pass undetected.

Or an idea that just "hit me. I totally forgot about it 'till now that is.
A race of brainwashing worms. Let me explain. A race that works as a simbiotic race. They enter their hosts and assume control over them. Giving them enhanced strength and regenerative abilities (nothing OP ofc. Something like a cut would heal in a few hours instead of a day or two).

@6slyboy6 Before I start working on the NS. Are hive-mind races allowed in the RP or changeling races ? I ask because I've got a few ideas but don't want to work on something if it's now allowed :)

@GrecIn the original version (made by me in another RP) the Umbra were dealers of dark powers to most evil of persons. (Example : you need the power to kill your rival, it shall be given to you in exchange for let's say...100 children or things of similar value) While also giving dark powers to people in order to kill those that would dare to double cross them.

So in other words. Go ahead but remember, only the Harbinger (William or his predecessors) is known by other persons. So if somebody would ask how a...Lasombra Vampire got their shadow powers, the answer would be something like "A strange being that was shrouded in darkness gave them the powers".

Is that ok ?

This RP caught my interest but before I commit to it...I have a question. What kind of post lenght do you have in mine for it? High casual or advanced ?

I have to say that I didn't read up all the premise as I am on the phone and it's kinda hard to read up anything bigger than 2 paragraphs easily, so I am sorry if I asked a question that you've already answered.

Harbinger (WIP)

Name/Alias: William "Harbinger" Augustus

Species: Half-Umbra - Half Human

Species Lore : How exactly The Umbra first appeared is not known by most who've had the chance to interact with a Umbra. The Umbra are most myth than reality for most as the number of Umbra that took human or some other earthly form is lower than 1000 throughout human history. The truth of the matter is that once a few thousands a human is chosen to be transformed into a Umbra and then tasked to represent the Umbra race in their interests on Earth.
Umbra society is structured in a caste-like system with every Umbra having a place chosen from the start of their existence. The human chosen to represent the Umbra race is the only Umbra that is allowed any contact with humans or other supernatural creatures.
Throughout history people tell stories, that most don't believe, about the Grim Ripper, a creature made of shadows and bone that takes away the dead into the Afterlife or that he is the one that knows when you will die and comes to take you. As with all stories, there is some truth to them. The Harbinger is sent on Earth to carry missions for the Umbra, be them simply killing those that would get close to finding out the truth about the Umbra or simply kidnapping humans to be sent onto the Umbra dimension.

Faction: The Umbra

Biography: William Augustus was born in 130 BC and was a roman legionary until his death and transformation into "The Harbinger". Most of William's life is a misery for other and himself as when the transformation finished, most of his memories faded. The memory that was stuck on him is the most defining experience of his life.
While on a mission in Britannia following the rumors of Pict "black magic", his party and him followed the Pict priest deep in Pict territory and what they've found was something totally different. The last Harbinger was using the Pict as his personal army to weaken the Roman Empire's hold on Britannia and by doing this furthering the plan of the Umbra.
His party was slaughtered in a few moments by the "priest" but William was not about to be defeated by a mere "Pict" and by pure luck and a determination borne from a life in the Roman army, William did the impossible for a human and put his sword through the Harbinger's chest.
He smile and said to William a few words before the shadows the swirled around him entered William. The word were "Thank you. My torment ends. Yours begins. I'm sorr--".
From then on William served the Umbra without question, doing whatever they demanded from him.
In 600 AD, William was called upon by the Umbra into their world and was gifted new powers for his loyalty. When he came back to Earth, many years passed and the Crusades began.

Skills/Abilities:

Shadowshift : William shape-shifts from a human form to a Umbra form becoming invisible to the naked eye without a strong light-source. Staying in this form taxes William's willpower as the Umbra eats away at his mind until it kills him.

Enhanced Body: William's speed,reflexes,strength and regeneration have been enhanced beyond normal human capabilities.

Shadow Bolt: William concentrates his Umbra in his hand and fires it at a target. If the target is hit by the Umbra it will slowly start to fade away into nothing as the Umbra teleports the target to the Umbra dimension where it will be killed. The process can be interrupted of course, if the target's willpower withstands the Umbra's willpower.

Shadow Blade/Arrows/Bow: William's swords,arrows and bow do not have a physical form but instead are created by the Umbra inside him.
While making William appear unarmed and not dangerous, the weapons are made out of William's Umbra and 'thus are an extension of himself.

Shadow Walk: William becomes incorporeal and teleports a small distance, no matter what objects are in front of him. As long as he sees the destination, he can teleport there. (maximum 5 meters)

Shadow Tendrils (Ultimate Ability): Using the Umbra inside him, William concentrates into making 6 shadowy tendrils which can appear from anywhere that light doesn't shine. The tendrils themselves cannot be cut away without using a magical artifact of some kind. William tho' cannot protect himself while commanding the tendrils.

Other: William has a tattoo on his left arm with the flag of the Roman Empire.
William has another tattoo on his neck with the year when he think he was born, written in Roman numbers.

@Grec Hello ! I guess you are still accepting people. I've got a few questions before I start thinking about a character.

1. Just to be sure. We are allowed to make a supernatural race of any kind (that is not an Angel/God race) that isn't specified in the races you've written by now? I'm thinking about a race of living shadows (they are not wraiths) that can take human form.

2. You said there will be time skips, that means that if a player would make a human character...they would need to make a new character for the time skip? Because I guess time skips will not mean 1-5 years but more like 30-whatever years.

3. We can create faction for other players to join in? I mean, I am thinking of making a faction in which my character will not be part of but other people could join it. You know, just to...flesh out the world so to say.
