Dorian wanted to reach out, to help April. But his boyfriends cutting remarks were right, too many people piling onto her would only make it worse. These panic attacks were more manageable when it was only the three of them. But as their circle grew, so too did the amount of people who cared for her, as well as the amount that may surround her against best thoughts. Dorian watched as the glass behind her began to spider web. Cracking slowly as the pressure grew from his best friend's distress. He tried to think about the best way to protect Arcade and himself, too far removed from Danni physically. He couldn't phase them both, but he couldn't leave Ed alone either.

Dorian didn't get the chance to finish his thoughts, the glass bursting at the seams as water and shards came barreling towards everyone in the room. The next few moments were a blur. Water washed over his face and eyes like a wave crashing down on him, he felt his grip slip away from Ed's, and was able to make out the familiar blue glow of his boyfriends powers appearing where he once stood. After that, everything went black. Dorian's head had smashed against the hard walls of the training room, blood pouring out and inking the pool of water red making it more difficult to tell just how much blood had been lost.

In either sense, the water made the wound flow more, drawing the blood out as Dorian lay there unconscious but alive. That's how it was for a moment, pure darkness as vague sounds could be heard from beyond him. Then suddenly, he felt something familiar. It wasn't exactly the same, all magic has its own signatures, but it was similar nonetheless. Someone was healing his wounds, the same way his father had many times before. As the scarlet magic did it's work, Dorian began to stir from his slumber and looked at the cast of the Avengers standing before him. Ed was in cuffs, She-Hulk reading him his rights, and it took everything in Dorian to stand up and speak out.

”She-’ulk, please, ‘e's already stated ‘e regrets what ‘e's done. ‘e's begun t’e process of change. Don't be too ‘ard on ‘im, please…” Dorian spoke, propped up against the wall he was bashed against. Apart from the blood tinging a side of his face red, his cheeks began to flush as well when asked for parental contact. Several of the Avengers knew his parents, and if either James or Ben found out about this they may not let them continue if they didn't think it was safe enough. ”Well, most of you ‘ave my dad's number anyways. Aaaand April may ‘ave busted my phone unless we can get some rice and a bag.”

Max ran his hands down the sides of Ben's shirt, straightening out the fabric as spoke in a soft voice. ”You're acting pretty cool for your first space mission. I barely was able to contain myself back in Asgard.” Runa cut into the moment like a dull knife, painful and abrupt. Reminding them all that they now represented two worlds, that they needed to watch their words and ensure that they didn't step out of line. Any selfish act would be treated as such and thus leave the person to fend for themselves. Max wasn't sure how much he agreed with that idea, deciding that should the time come and the situation become incapable of diffusion, then he would decide in the moment if to help or not whomever it was that messed up. He never was one to stand idly by when others needed help however.

A young, and fairly beautiful, person had approached them all once they entered the Audience Hall. Max didn't dare to assume a gender, age, or anything really. It was hard enough with long living races to tell their age, even harder if they were alien in nature. Who was to say that they even had the same concepts as humans did? Or the same customs. All of this kept Max from speaking out loud when the Majestrix addressed them. Mira was the first to speak, tiptoeing around the massive issue they faced, asking for a device when the race was known for wanting to kill the creature rather than separate it. Lance followed behind, though not adding much context. Max wasn't sure what to do, what to say. If they mentioned the problem outright then perhaps they may not help at all, both wishing for Mary to die and end it all or simply deciding this was an earthly matter and had nothing to do with them.

Carolina spoke and now everything was out in the open. They had a pheonix problem and needed help to fix it. Runa seemed to sweep in an attempt to smooth out the problem. Adding debts and boons alongside their plea to make it seem more amenable, she was of the same mind as him then. Max's biggest issue was he had no boons to give, no silver tongue to aid in these persuasions. Unless he was spoken to, he would remain silent and analyze the proceedings. His hand outstretched slightly from his side, interlocking his fingers with Ben's in a bid for comfort.

Full glad that the new mini poseidon was also on board with the idea of a Leda welcome back party, Demi grinned before taking a sip of his drink. Kiera, ofcourse, was more concerned with actually getting Leda back than any party they could be throwing, but that didn't mean she wasn't interested either. As usual Alexios made it all about himself, Demi wondered if the god was capable of doing anything but that, but given who his mother was he somehow doubted it. Even the romantic gestures he did for Demi felt like it was more to do with Alexios than anything else. While he didn't mind it, they felt like they were a way for the god to make himself appear better than Zeke, more worthy than Zeke. But that's where Alexios missed the mark every time. He wasn't with Zeke for money, or anything the demigod could do or provide. He was with him because even behind every snide comment, biting remark, and personal jab that they shot at each other, it was all a veil for how they truly felt.

He liked Zeke for the time he was willing to offer him, the company of silence when the world wanted them to scream, the way that even in the most basic of sense all they had to do was look at one another and understand what it was the other was feeling. To an extent, he knew how Kiera must've been feeling. If he knew Zeke was in Tartarus, hell even if he was in the Underworld, there would be no lengths Demi wouldn't go through to get him back. He'd fight every god if he had to. By the time Demi came back from his own thoughts, Alexios was droning on about the parties he could do still. He laughed, amused at how long the god could speak until an idea clicked inside his head. A mischievous smile appearing before he spoke. ”Well then, after all you are THE Party God. Why don't you throw Leda and Madalyne one? It should be easy for someone of your skill, two separate themes to match the Roman and Greek aesthetics and traditions while taking into account the different interests of both the returning demigods. Right?”

Max swung his arm around Avery's shoulders as they mentioned they would be joining the group heading towards the Shi'ar. ”Yes! I was worried I'd be the only one of the three casters heading into the final frontier that is space. Well, there's the ocean but honestly I'd sooner take my chances in space than whatever lies beneath the murky depths of the Ocean.” He said before snapping his fingers into a finger gun towards Ed. ”Stay safe out there, all of you. We are but a Bi-Frost away should anything go pear shaped ok?” Suddenly there was a burst of tendrils coming out from his husband, who proclaimed he was coming with. Shock ran through Max and without any ability to protest quickly, they were transported.

Surrounded by an array of flashing lights and colors that would make even one of Harry's shows seem mundane, they now stood on the crystalline bridge that led to Asgard. A man he could only assume was The Heimdal, awaiting them before they entered the City of Asgard proper. The place looked like something out of a fairytale, not just the bridge itself but the golden buildings that stood stories tall, the decorations, fabrics, halls. Max could spend days here and never tire of the mysteries that lay beneath the surface, yet they didn't have days. Merely a handful of time to request an audience to speak to the Shi'ar before they were whisked away once more to another foreign planet. Max made sure to take in as much of the location as possible so as to attempt his own portal back to Asgard should the need ever arise.

Of the X-Men, only four had actually joined them on the mission to go offworld. Avery, Carolina, Lance, and Mira; with Klara and Runa as their Asgardian diplomats and intermediaries as well as his husband Ben. He hoped someone was good at talking, because if he was being honest, while he was quite the yapper, Max wasn't exactly the best at diplomacy. He held Ben's hand as they walked a few steps before coming to a halt. In stark contrast to the world of Asgard, this place was more Silver than anything. Metallic structures as far as the eye could see, almost artistically so. If he had to place the styles under earthly terms, Asgard felt more Art Deco while Chandelar felt more Nouveau. At the very least at first glance.

While a few of them discussed their next moves, Max stood in place trying not to stray far from where they had landed. It was believed some guards or envoys would be meeting them here and leading them to where they needed to be, but even that wasn't certain. Max knew nothing about this race of people, not one that he had bothered to study up on while away, but the idea of an entire lineage being erased by a weapon of theirs was enough of a deterrent to be on his best behavior. He didn't know if that extended to Ben or Dorian, and if he was being honest, he had begun to wonder about his lineage in general for some time now. There was a book back at Strange's Max never bothered to open, let alone touch. Mostly because he feared the answers within.

Max pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the here and now. On Ben, this world, and his mission. ”We're a long ways away from New Orleans now. And hopefully so are the Kingstons and kids. You know…you didn't have to come, but I'm so glad that you did.” He said as he smiled warmly towards Ben.

Bit? Was this operator deaf?! He said he was hit by a car. Then again, he knew there were a slew of questions they had to ask regardless of the situation, if anyone was carrying a weapon, was there any animals involved, were they aggressive, is anyone in immediate danger, and so forth. He figured with this new virus going around so soon after Covid, that perhaps they were now required to ask about those who may have been infected so they know how to proceed. ”Let me check, one second.” Hermes said as he approached the old man that lay on the floor, giving him a quick once over.

There was a strange indentation on the man's hand, and upon a closer look he noticed that it was in fact a bite wound. ”Hannah don't crowd the man, paramedics are on the way to help but he needs room to breathe.” He spoke aloud as he tapped Mandy's shoulder to snag her attention. He signed to both of them as he spoke aloud, masking what he was saying in signs with a false verbal narrative. ”Stay back, the CDC mentioned to avoid people who have been bitten and there is a bite on his hand. Be careful not to get bit or touch it.” Hermes signed to Mandy and Hannah before stepping back away from a whispered earshot. ”He does appear to have some sort of bite mark on his hand. Yes.” He whispered to the officer on the other line.

It made sense that Guin had the number to one of the old X-men, and it helped that she was also tied to another member of the Thieves Guild as well. Max was glad to see that she'd, in some roundabout way, taken his advice about following that current thread. He wasn't personally aware of which members were currently where in New Orleans, hoping Rogue was one of the ones stationed here given that Gambit was a point of contact. Guin had given her own bit of knowledge out, and it quickly took the wind out of Max's sails. ”If stress is the trigger for her changes, then it's probably best I ally myself with the Shi'ar group. Mary and I don't exactly see eye to eye all the time and I fear my presence could pose an extra challenge if I'm there. Besides, as I've mentioned to some before, my powers are unbridled Chaos, which could create a stressful situation if not careful.

I'd hate to have to over work Perry when she should be focusing on helping Mary. So I'll go with Runa and those that accompany her.”
Max said as he looked at all those present and tried to think of any more help he may be able to dish out before they are separated. ”There's a few things to note, New Orleans is a supernatural city. So you may be able to find some help with the undead there Perry. Some helpful ghosts may of spotted our wayward Phoenix. As for the casters, any spells used to track or well anything should be done outside of my home. It's warded against any magic that isn't mine, so your magic won't be good in there. Aside from all that, anything else we should know about the Shi'ar? Customs? Procedures? Things we should be wary of? Save for the titles you'd mentioned.”

Madalyne waltzed up towards them, tension clear in her face and on her shoulders. Dorian hadn't expected the punch, but it came all the same. He was in shock, unsure of how to take that as he began to wonder just how ‘heroic’ some of these students truly were. To hit a defenseless person, villain or not, was uncalled for. Her words stung him just as much as he figured that punch had stung Arcade's cheek. Resonating with the thoughts he was already having about the entire situation. It made him nervous for whatever was about to happen next. Dorian could take some of his classmates if it really came down to it, but he was greatly outnumbered and sorely didn't want to damage any bridges that he had been building over the year.

It was his luck that Danni had come to his rescue, if even a bit threatening without meaning to to Arcade, but helpful all the same. But with Danni at his side, Dorian felt more at ease, mote confident in his ability to hold strong and defend Ed if need be. More so if April joined, but she stood frozen in place for now. He wanted to call her over, ask her to help them stand strong, The Triumphant Trio, The Three Musketeers, The Triumvirates. But before he could, the silence that had been building was broken by a screech. Vicky clearly wasn't happy with the decision, saying something about having killed someone, yet everyone was here and alive. Had something happened within the game? Any further pulls on that string would be immediately halted as he heard her last sentence. Heroism is overated. Did she truly think that the answer to all this was more villainy?

He'd have turned to say something to her, to try and talk to her to see where her head was at, but he didn't dare take his eyes off of Arcade. The room was still too tense to leave him be. Even that small of a distraction was enough for Sabine to close the distance on them slightly before she just stopped and closed her eyes. Dorian's hands gripped into a fist, sweat beginning to form on his temples as he feared the worst. His parents had warned them both about telepathy and mentalists. The Kingstons had been plagued by them for years, every imaginable way from torture to removing autonomy to creating fully new persona's withing them. He was waiting for the shoe to drop, when Sabine soon opened her eyes, the edge still there but a softness hiding behind it. Contentment? She claimed Arcade had changed, perhaps she saw it inside of him with her powers and chose to voice it for those who didn't believe. That's what Dorian chose to believe. That would have to be his truth, because the alternative was unspeakable.

Zari's comment served as a distraction, welcome change of thought from what Sabine may have done. Though he didn't understand a word she said. It was confusing as hell and he wasn't sure of the state of Usagi now. Had something occurred while they were in the tanks? He wanted to ask, to press for more information. But Zelda's soft voice cut through in the empty room. How could she say that? Her family tree was full of Villains who had a change of heart. She of all people should know that. Her own grandfather used to run a group called The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, a gang of mutants and miscreants that went around causing harm. If one of the greatest villains in X-men history could change, surely someone who was just starting on the path could.

But there was no point in arguing now. No point in saying anything towards Zelda or anyone. Too much was happening too fast. Zari was speaking nonsense while fiddling with her watch, several others began to leave, Ed was having a breakdown, and April, his best friend, was having a panic attack. Dorian didn't know what to do. What triggered it? He couldn't leave Ed alone, not with the others who still looked at him with hateful eyes, but he wanted to be by April's side, to help her, yet so many were already there and too many crowding her could make things worse. He was stuck, torn between duty and friendship, and he had no idea how to answer this quam. So ignoring the threats his boyfriends sister had just said to him, he gripped Ed's hand and tried to drag him with him towards April, just enough to let her know that he was there. ”April, talk to me, what's ‘appenin? What's goin’ t'rough your mind?”

”Maybe we can do something for Leda when she gets back. Bring her her favorite snacks or flowers or something to greet her with at the gates before we have a full celebration back at camp. I can't imagine the food in Tartarus is any good. What do monsters eat anyways?” Demi thought aloud as he tried to focus on anything but the trial currently taking place. It didn't sit right with him, none of it did. But he wasn't there, he wasn't a Roman, he had no place to speak. Or at least that's what he imagined Nancy would say to him if he even tried to male an appearance at the trial.

”So redundancies after redundancies after redundancies. And yet the gods still can't find the time to claim their children at the appropriate age or even aid on quests. Really it sounds like they have nothing but free time and just pretend to be busy.” Demi remarked as Alexios essentially mentioned that the jobs could run on autopilot should it need be. Though he figured that was more true for say, the God of Parties, rather than The God of Death. Surely that required an active role. ”Percy this, Percy that, is there anything that kid didn't do? Seriously campers won't stop yapping about him the first chance they get. When Leda comes back it'll be her everyone will talk about. After all she's gonna have made it from Tartarus and back too right? She'll be a right ledge.”

Hermes listened intently as the broadcast shifted. Going from the same monotonous speech over and over again, to a new one that sounded as if it was coming live. Someone from the CDC was finally addressing this issue, of course they had to wait until it got this bad to go public with any knowledge. He tried to retain as much information as he could, working out the signs as he went along the way to best convey the information with little to no misunderstanding for his cousin. As he listened, Hermes began to slump back into his seat, putting his shins against the dash board as one hand lazily began to follow a pattern of signs, practicing what he'd say to Mandy.

Finally the car had come to a halt. Hermes looking out from his window into the sideview as Hannah began to clamor out of the backseat before the sound of tires peeling on the road caught his attention. Barely visible over his knees, Hermes saw as a truck driver plowed past an elderly man and sped off, leaving him on the ground while Hannah and Mandy left to go check up on him. Hermes dropped his feet back down to the floor, slowly getting out of the car in shock of what he'd just seen while Mandy told him to call 911. He stumbled for a moment, fighting with his pocket to get his phone out of it before finally hitting the emergency call button. The line began to ring, and Hermes frantically began tapping his fingers against his jeans. ”C'mon pick up pick up.”

He had to wonder, how many calls must have been coming in at that time? With the looting, the rabid attacks, the new information no doubtedly spreading more panic than good, the phone lines must've been going crazy. The mention of fluids alone left a wide open door for speculation on whether things like sexual acts could transfer this virus. Hermes wasn't sure if he'd be able to get through to the emergency line, and with each dial tone it felt less and less likely. Finally it stopped, and for a moment he thought the call had dropped, but then he heard “911 what's your emergency?” ”I just witnessed a truck driver hit an elderly man, he's laying on the street right now alive but in need of medical attention. Please hurry.” Hermes said as he began to give out the details of what cross section they were on and the address nearby.

James took a moment to collect himself, biting back a nasty retort in the face of Max's colleagues. He understood the panic, but Max knew damn well why the X-men weren't an acceptable topic here, why joining them was such a debated decision. His heart broke at the fear in his husband's voice and James stepped between him and the portal, the three stepping through put on the back burner for a moment. Casper always came first.

“Casper, babes, can you go get the emergency bags from the room? I swapped out Danni's clothes last month so they're not the old ones but if you want any of your products, I figured you'd know better what you like.” James spoke evenly, leaning in to press a kiss against Casper's cheek and laughing a little as Danni grabbed Casper's robe. “And then think about where you want to go. We could do a beach trip - we've haven't taken the kids on a proper one yet. What do you think, Ben?”

Casper was frozen in place, his skin clammy with a sheer layer of sweat already gathering. His mind was divided, tumultuous memories playing all at once - and as Max approached him, reaching out to take his hand, Casper flinched. He stepped backwards, just out of Max’s reach. He didn’t move away from James though, as James moved between him and the portal.

But even seeing his husband in front of him wasn’t enough to shake the darkness from swirling around in his mind. ”I… the bags?” He was having trouble focusing, even on the sweet press of James’ lips to his cheek, or his son grabbing onto his robe.

Ben was more focused. He narrowed his eyes, not angry at Max, but angry at the fact that Max was about to place himself in harm’s way. But he knew he wouldn’t be able to argue Max out of it - and Ben knew that he couldn’t go too, that someone had to stay with Dorian to protect him… and James could probably use the help, given how much Casper was shutting down. “I think the beach would be good. Maybe Thailand.” He then glanced at Casper again. They’d need to keep an eye on him.

Guilt rushed through Max as he watched Casper take a step back. He thought he could separate his home life from his time with the X-men, but it was clear that at some point they'd intermingle, and he didn't expect it to happen like this. He looked back at Annie, nodding as he tried to figure out how best to handle this new situation with Casper slipping. ”Penguin, that sounds like a wonderful idea. I forget not everyone spent their lives on the run with supplies at hand, so why don't all of you go grab what you need and we can meet back in 10 minutes or so?”

He felt Jaclyn's hand reached his shoulder, trying to calm him down and plead for him to be more level headed. He hadn't realized it till then, but his heart was racing. The potential threat to his family has spiraled him out, much like Casper was doing now. He heard as Lance mentioned how they had no plan or idea on where she even was, and it clicked to him he hadn't verbalized a single thing.

”Sorry everyone. In all my panic I forgot to mention I have a lead…or two. Mary and I met in New Orleans, along with Gambit and what has been assumed to be her alternate personality,Chrysi. There's a place called the Thieves Guild, if she's contacted Gambit it could be that part of her has regressed back to that time, or there's some form of safety there I don't know. There's another mutant in New Orleans that would know of its whereabouts a bit better, coincidentally one I may need to Shephard out of here as well if she's up to it. Some of you may know her as Renegade. And if that lead dries out, we have several casters here than can locate her I'm varying ways with the Mystic Arts, myself included.”

Max closed the gap between himself as Ben, reaching to hold his hand as his fingertips grazed the side of Bens. One hand gently squeezing his sons cheek as he looked Ben in the eyes and spoke softly. ”I'm sorry, I'm sorry for all of this. I got so worried I leapt without thinking knowing damn well I can't fly…If you guys need anything, anything at all while I'm fighting this, don't hesitate to call me. I'm only a Portal away.”

Ben closed his hand around Max’s, holding his lover’s fingers for a moment - and perhaps the last one they’d ever have. “Don’t worry about us. James and I can handle this. Focus on… focus on coming back, okay? And if you need back up… I’m here.”

Damn, James needed to get Casper out fast. “Yeah, the bags. Just in case we had to move on the fly again, you remember? Come in, let's head to the bedroom and grab them.” James gently urged Casper to turn around, and started herding him away from the portal and the people pouring through.

Casper hesitated for a moment, before nodding numbly. He was normally so talkative, so chatty, so vibrant - but as he opened his mouth to speak, the words didn’t come to him. He let himself be turned away from the portal, from the X-Men - tried to will himself to feel the soft fur of his robes, to just feel his body. He couldn’t though - couldn’t control his breathing, his heart rate, his mind. All he could do was shuffle forward slowly, heading in the direction of his and James’ bedroom.

“I can handle both the kids for a while if you need me to, guys.” James offered. God knew James wouldn't be able to stay behind if Casper was throwing himself head first into danger and he certainly wouldn't begrudge Ben his opportunity. “Just help me get Dorian settled when we cross over and you can zip right back.” James normally wouldn't have an issue getting everything together for everyone but he'd need to get Casper comfortable first so that he wouldn't bolt as soon as he took his eyes off the man.

“And whenever you all finish dealing with this, I'll be happy to come and patch you up. Just don't come back here.” James offered a strained smile to three guests.

”How did I get so lucky to have a husband like you? And your five as family?” Max said with a bit of a sigh as he smiled warmly towards Ben. He made his way over towards a nearby broom closet located within the hall and opened the door. He ran his fingers along the edge of the frame until a second portal appeared, this time to the lovely beaches of Thailand. Max closed the closet door and looked back towards his husband. ”Tell James and Casper this is their way out. When you guys are ready, take this closet door to Thailand, have fun, and don't worry about me. I always make it back in enough pieces for James to fix me up. Till then…”

Max made his way back towards his original portal and looked at the two that had crossed as well as those behind the gateway. ”When you make it through we're going this way, through my portion of the house. Don't need any X-men going through the Kingston Side of the household.” He said as he directed everyone to go the exact opposite side of where he'd placed the second portal.
