Auriel listened to the shaman's words. He had a point, this was a momentous occasion for everybody, not just her. It made sense that she wasn't the only nervous one there. When he patted a wing, Auriel couldn't help but wince a bit from a mild pain. But she did well to not show the weakness any more than a slight twitch that could be taken as a surprise sensation. Auriel let out a long, slow breath, and smiled to the shaman. "Seize the moment... Okay. I think I can do that."
When they were called into the throne room, Auriel felt a sudden surge of adrenaline. This was it. This was now. She could feel butterflies in her stomach as she stepped toward the grand doors leading into the the throne room. She looked up at the large wooden doors as if they were the gates to heaven. It seemed like an eternity for them to swing open far enough to fit the group through. Auriel was the last into the room, most likely because her nerve had slowed her down some. She first spotted the dominant piece in the room, the throne occupied by the young king. Then, standing before the king, were the four heroes. She could feel her cheeks flush a bit, though she wasn't sure why. Was she embarrassed to be standing in the presence of such legendary heroes?
Her eyes moved between the four of them, taking in their appearances. They seemed so... Exotic. So otherworldly. She knew that they were of course, but actually seeing them compared to how she envisioned them, it was a completely different feeling. Auriel followed Cleo and the Shaman closer to the group, and heard the king tell them to accompany a hero. She wanted to be with them all, to aid them toward a common goal they all shared. But it seemed that wasn't the case. They'd all need a personal companion. Somebody they could trust and consider as a friend in this alien world she was sure they viewed it as. Auriel watched Cleo go to the Shield Hero, an older looking man who appeared to be in complete shock about everything. Then she saw the Shaman move toward the female hero, the Bow Hero. She seemed to have a chip on her shoulder, which intimidated her slightly when paired with the immense power she now wielded. Her golden eyes turned to the two remaining heroes, the Sword and Spear heroes.
Auriel's eyes rested on Flin, the Spear Hero. She fought with a spear as well, perhaps she could train Flin in its use and expedite his improvement. Auriel stepped toward him and bowed. Her wings unfurled a bit, curling forward with her. Suddenly, she felt all of the anxiety of greeting the heroes wash away. She was where she wanted to be, and now that it was happening, everything just fell into place. "Spear Hero. Greetings and thank you for answering the summons... I am Auriel, and it is my sacred duty to assist you and the other heroes against the upcoming trials our world faces. Please accept my vow of servitude." Auriel kept her head down while she waited for an answer from the Spear Hero. Her heart was practically beating out of her chest.
"Greetings!- too excited... Greetings?- do I even know what I'm doing here? Okay... Greetings.- AHH am I emotional dead inside?!" Auriel took a deep breath and tried to level herself out to try again. "Maybe I should say it with a smile. Okay here goes... Greetings... Ehe!" she groaned and shook her head. That was terrible.
Auriel heard some clattering and footsteps behind her, which made her think that in her little world of rehearsing that the heroes were already there! Auriel quickly twirled on a heel to try and make up for lost time. She had a big smile on her face, an attempt at covering up her little show, "GREETINGS!" The excitement and surprise made her say it a little louder than what was acceptable in a throne room. Her face flushed to a much redder tone when she saw it wasn't the heroes a tall, but rather a man who looked like he had been rooting through the woods in search of fresh herbs or something.
"Preparing yourself, I see?" the man said to her before continuing, "Put some more grand confidence into your tone."
Auriel felt that she just put a bit too much grand confidence in her tone with that one. Ugh... this is terrible. She'd much rather death than to look like such a socially clumsy, bird brained holy warrior. "Ah- eh... Yeah..." she finally answers with a deflated tone, even her wings drooped in defeat when she answered.
Auriel looked back at him, almost with desperation in her eyes. "I need help! I've waited my whole life for this moment, and I never once thought about first impressions!"
The guardian angel was known to be impressively calm in the field of battle, but she clearly didn't benefit from that same quality in other environments.
Alright Haruna hasn't been on for three days how long do you guys want to wait? I can always bring in Matsunaga from last rp to be the bow hero instead of the spear.
Auriel stood on one of the many balconies overlooking Melromarc from the throne room. She looked out to the summoning temple where the ritual to bring the Cardinal Heroes to this world was taking place. She was disappointed that she was denied access to the ritual. Her whole life had led to this moment, to stand beside the heroes. It would come to pass, but for Auriel, having to wait the extra hour or two felt like an eternity. Her golden eyes practically burned a hole into the stonework of the distant temple. They were there now, she could feel it. It was a sensation that ran up her spine and gave her chills. It was as if the world in its entirety responded to the summoning of the heroes. Winds blew from the temple's direction, catching the feathers of her wings as they remained tucked to her back. Her blonde hair whipped back from a particularly powerful gust.
Auriel heard the chirps and calls of a flock of birds as they fought against the wind to reach the temple. She looked over to them and watched with envy as they flew so freely in the air. The sun gleamed off of their white feathers, allowing for the birds to stick out from the blue and gray backdrop of the partially cloudy sky. Auriel took a deep breath of the summer air and let it out slowly. Her wings stretched out a bit, catching more wind. The feeling of the air moving through her feathers felt nice, but it wasn't enough for Auriel. Things hadn't been the same for her since she fell on the battlefield. A sharp stab of pain from her right wing made her wince and tuck her wings back in. She gripped the hand rail of the balcony with white knuckles as the pain ran its course. Her mind shot back to the moment it all happened, when weighted chains were tossed over her and took her to the ground. When her struggles twisted the chains through her feathers and snapped fragile bones. She felt fear that day. It was the first time she had ever came so close to losing everything. For all her divine gifts and healing magic, her wings were the one thing that wouldn't heal. It had been months since that day, but she was still no closer to taking the skies back as her domain.
Auriel snapped out of her reverie when she heard the great bells of the temple, cathedral, and palace ring in unison. The summoning was complete. She felt that familiar chill run up her spine again. The excitement of meeting her promised companions quickly washed over the anxiety of her injuries. But it didn't take long for a new anxiety to settle in. What if the heroes were nothing like she expected? What if they had no need for a warrior who trained her whole life to aid them? What if they wouldn't accept her because she wasn't completely healed yet? Auriel's mind started zipping through dozens of different 'what if?' scenarios, and it made her bite her lip as she tried sorting out the plausible from the implausible. Another gust of wind caught in her wings, and she refocused. No. That wouldn't happen. The Cardinal Heroes might be the ones destined to save their world, but without people like Auriel and the other adventurers gathered in the throne room, the heroes would be lost and confused in this strange place. Her rationale steeled her for the moment she'd meet her heroes, at least until she realized she hadn't even thought about what to say when they were finally face to face.
Auriel blushed. "Oh heavens, Auriel you fool..." she said quietly to herself as she planted her face firmly in her palm.
She took another deep breath and started rehearsing to herself, "Greetings, heroes! ... No that's too excited... Welcome, my lords- are they my lords? What if one of them is a lady? My lords and lady? Ohhh I should've thought about this sooner! Uuugh!" Auriel let out an exasperated sigh as she gripped some of her golden locks. "Ohhh what do I say?!" she said a bit louder, forgetting that there might be others able to hear her in the throne room.
Biography Born within a monastery, Auriel was chosen to be trained as the Holy Warrior, a singular member of a lineage of warriors that have devoted themselves to the Four Legendary Heroes. It was decided at her birth that she would be trained in order to one day assist the cardinal heroes, taking the fact that she was born with angelic wings as a holy omen of the heroes' need to be summoned. For as long as Auriel could remember, her mother had lived in the monastery where Auriel was raised. From what her mother had told her, Auriel's father was once a great hero with a legend that rivalled even that of the cardinal heroes themselves, and that her mother had travelled at his side where she too earned quite a bit of renown as well. However, whenever Auriel asked about her parents' past, she was always met with cryptic answers and promises of being told later. Auriel eventually conceded and simply waited for the day that might never come.
When Auriel had been told that she was chosen to inherit the title of the Holy Warrior, she was ecstatic. The church had viewed her wings as a divine gift, and that it was fate that she was to become the Holy Warrior. Ever since she was a small child, Auriel fantasized about what her future might hold in store for her. As she grew up, Auriel endeavored to surpass her instructors so that, should the time ever come, she could be of the most use to the heroes. All throughout her younger years, Auriel was told to never trust the Shield Hero. However, despite the teachings and attempted indoctrination of the church's conviction, Auriel remained true to the journals of her predecessors which told her to remain true to all of the cardinal heroes. Auriel would go through her lessons, saying what her instructors wanted to hear whenever the topic of the Shield Hero came up so she wouldn't have to deal with the chastisement.
Well into her teenage years, hordes of demons and evil creatures began to ravage the countryside. The incursions were small at first, enough for the country's army to handle it, but as they grew in size, Auriel couldn't help but get herself involved. It was clear that these incursions from the hordes were a sign of something far worse, that they were the precursors of the next Waves to plague the world. She tried to convince to the kingdoms that the time to summon the heroes was now, but the kings and other leaders of the nations preferred to fend for themselves, saying that the summoning of the heroes would only happen if the waves became too much to handle. Auriel had been training her whole life to battle these foes. Even when the monastery wouldn't let her leave, Auriel would fly from a window and meet the hordes head on. Her training helped immensely, and she quickly became an even more experienced fighter as she did battle. Soon her reputation as the kingdom's guardian angel spread. But her reputation and fighting ability only served to work against her true desire, as the kingdoms believed that with her around, they wouldn't need the heroes. Auriel would once again become very outspoken about summoning the heroes, and that she was only one person and the waves would eventually become strong enough that she wouldn't be strong enough to stop them. She might have been capable, but she was no cardinal hero after all.
In one particularly violent battle, the strength and organization of the horde was far greater than Auriel had anticipated. Auriel was one of the first to meet the enemy in the field of battle, and one of the first to fall to the surprise as chains and nets were launched into the air by fel machines to intercept her. It seemed that her reputation hadn't just reached the ears of the people. Soldiers managed to reach her and get her out of the battle, but she was too injured to fight. The holy magic that surrounded her would need time to heal her injuries, and there was no telling when she would be healthy enough to fight again. It had been months since that battle, but Auriel is once again fit to travel the land. Her injuries had left her bedridden, and she is now a shadow of her past self. She would need to raise her strength again for when the first true wave comes. Luckily, her defeat on the field of battle, and destruction that ensued from the last demonic incursion, was enough to galvanize both the people, and the government to finally summon the heroes. Auriel is making sure that she is there to attend the summoning ceremony and finally fulfill her destiny.
--- Preferred Weapon Spear

Pros Can provide constant healing Can heal any wound, but it cannot regrow limbs Minor wounds can be healed quite quickly
Cons Physical contact must be maintained for healing For large and grievous wounds, healing takes too much time to be used in battle
A healing spell that can be cast instantly and from a distance.
Pros Can be used quickly while in battle Can be used at a distance Can harm undead and unholy enemies
Cons Cannot heal major wounds Requires line of sight on the recipient
Throw a spear made of holy light, the spear travels incredibly fast and can pierce armor quite easily.
Pros Very high damaging spell A fast travelling projectile that is difficult to dodge Armor piercing, can hit multiple enemies in a line Greater effect against undead and unholy enemies
Cons Requires a few seconds to conjure the spear, leaving Auriel exposed to danger unless she stops what she is doing Less effective against spread out groups Requires quite a bit on mana, making it a skill to be used sparingly and intelligently
Auriel's body will become briefly encased in light as bright as the sun.
Pros For most people effected by Auriel's Blinding Light, they will be blinded, stunned, and/or disoriented for a short time. The closer to Auriel they were at the time of the flash, the most severe the effects. Undead and Demons suffer burns from Auriel's Blinding Light. Undead and Demons closer to Auriel will receive more damage. At arm's reach, lesser undead and demons can be entirely disintegrated by the flash.
Cons The spell can be directed, as it flashes in three-hundred and sixty degrees. The spell will effect anyone, be they friend or foe. If Auriel wishes to not harm her allies with this spell, she must warn them that she is going to use it, which can potentially tip off the enemy if they are quick enough to realize what is about to happen.
Auriel must make physical contact with the item in order to consecrate any item. If an item is consecrated, it glows a faint white, and the item will energize the user if they are holding or wearing it. Consecrated weapons will be extra effective against undead or unholy foes, often burning the area of the strike. For anything else, a consecrated weapon will cause wounds that heal slower than normal. Consecrated armors will neutralize incoming unholy magic attacks, and they will be extra resistant to unholy enchanted weapons. Whether the consecrated item is a weapon or armor, however, it does not last forever. A consecrated piece of gear will remain consecrated for an hour so long as it isn't being used. The more a consecrated weapon strikes a target, the faster the enchantment wears off. The more a consecrated piece of armor protects from a blow, the faster it wears off as well.
Pros Can provide a boost in offense or defense respectively The faint glow of a consecrated item could provide a weak light source The user of a consecrated item will feel energized so long as the item is consecrated, which is great for keeping somebody from falling to effects of fatigue
Cons Auriel must physically touch a weapon to be able to cast this spell The more extensively used a consecrated item is, the faster the consecration wears off The faint glow could possibly give away the user's position if stealth is a factor
Auriel can cast a quick spell to simply nullify a target's physical pain. This helps to get somebody past the pain barriers of an injury or intense muscle fatigue. The spell is brief, lasting only a short two minutes. But if Auriel has time to focus and channel more holy energy, she can extend the effects of this spell upwards to fifteen minutes. The more powerful the casting is, the more mana is consumed.
Pros Can help a person to overcome pain barriers in order to the victim to potentially rescue themselves Auriel can cast Null Pain on herself in order to utilize her wings for short bursts of flight, or to sustain a short glide The length of the spell can be adjusted as per needed at a proportionate cost of mana
Cons The spell does not heal injuries, and it is possible that an injury could be made worse simply by ignorance after the pain is nullified, thus is it highly encouraged that the target of the spell be mindful of their actions to not make matters worse
Non-magical effects can be completely removed from a single target when this spell is cast on them. Traditionally, this means that if cast on an ally, Purify will remove any sort of negative non-magical ailment that is plaguing that individual, whereas if it cast on an enemy, it will generally remove any sort of non-magical enhancement that might be aiding them.
Pros Can be used to prevent poisons, diseases/illnesses of the non-magical variety Can be casted quickly and at a short distance
Cons The spell is single targeting, meaning that large groups of people, be they friend or foe, can easily overwhelm the usefulness of the spell Cannot purify magical ailments Cannot purify natural ailments that come with age or disabilities
An offensive holy spell that fires a fast bolt of light at the target. The relatively low mana cost and ease of use allows this spell to be cast quickly and in succession of other spells. The damage the holy bolt delivers is more effective against unholy enemies. Undead are burned by the bolt.
Pros A simple spell that can be used quickly multiple times Extra effectiveness against unholy enemies, additionally burning undead foes
Cons Low damage against enemies that aren't unholy
Less of a skill, and more of a natural trait. She has angelic wings that allow her to fly. Her recent defeat in battle has left her wings injured and unable to be used for flight. As she recovers, the wings may once again become useful.
Pros ... she can fly... Eventually
Cons Neither the wings, nor her, are strong enough to carry others Fragile and can be easily injured if she isn't careful
After training with her skilled mother for the better part of a day, Auriel has learned the rudimentary techniques required for a swordsman. She has specifically learned techniques related to the saber.
