Okay, okay, just... Just stop messing with my door, alright? JEEZ!
Glad to have and see ya, Lupurun~
And witht that, I do believe we have more than enough interestees to warrant me actually making an OOC and getting this thing started.
Sooooooo, I'll get to work on that tomorrow, after I get back home from workk. Barring any freak accidents, hit-and-runs or other incidents that may impede my ability to reach my PC.
@Crimson Flame It might be tough for you to keep up with other players and the flow of the RP overall, if you can't manage a post once every week. And if that's the case, I wouldn't recommend joining. :(
You've been lost for a while now, haven't you? Walking, wandering and meandering, endlessly and pointlessly. Perhaps you were driven from your old home by some outside force, perhaps you were cast out by those you called family, friends and neighbours. Perhaps a foreign power seized control and ran you and the other locals out, or perhaps you just wanted to see the the great world beyond. Your reasons are your own, and they don't matter in the grand scheme of things. All that matters, is that you've been without a proper place to call your own for a while now.
However, for a while now, something's changed for you. It started weak and subtle at first, like a distant whisper on the wind, barely even noticeable. Yet as time has gone on, whatever it is has grown, and now you swear you can hear it - whatever it is - calling you, tuging at you, directing you... Like an unhearable voice and invisible hand, both guiding your steps. But to where? You do not know. At least you didn't, until today. After having given in to the strange urge and strange call, you've finally made you way to where it wanted you to travel.
And it's here you've found it.
A place you feel in your bones, your heart and your very soul, you could finally call home. ... ... But... It looks like it could use some TLC... 'Cuz that wall's about to come down... And is that a crow's nest sticking outta the chimney? Wait... That roofs got more holes in it than a slice of cheese! ... What is this dump!?
Overview:
Welcome to this Roleplay, inspired by (primarily) Rune Factory, along with things like Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, Gravekeeper as well as series like Farming Life in ANother World and other cozy life-sim-type stuff. In this particular story, you'll be taking on the role of a wanderer, vagabond, exile or other person who, for one reason or another, left their old home and began travelling the world. But a mysterious calling eventaully drew you - and the rest of the cast - towards a specific spot, where you all discovered...!
... A run-down, collapsing and mostly ruined old hamlet. Like, there are about two buildings in the entire place that's still standing and could be considered 'whole', the rest are just rotted-through, falling apart of already crumbled-in-on-themselves. But despite this, something deep inside you is urging and telling you that this, this is the place where you can feel at home and like you belong. It just needs a bit of elbow-grease and good, stout, hard labor to get things up and running again.
And that's what this RP's going to be a about. Restoring an old and mysteriously off-the-map village. You'll need to tear down or repair the buildings that're falling apart, build your own individual homes and frunish them, get some local industry and services going, attract new settlers (if you want more people), explore the surounding area, gather materials, hunt beasts and monsters... You know, everyday life in a fantasy world where the goal isn't to save the world from the reincarnated Demon King.
For those who worry that there won't be anything other than farming, ranching and socializing to do, fretr not. Nearby locations include magic forests, old dungeons, abandoned mine(s) and other things to explore and delve into, as well as monsters to face or defend yourself from. It's going to be a cozy RP, but with the option of doing some classic fantasy adventuring if that's what you feel like. Just don't expect some big, world-ending scenario to unfold out here in the boonies.
Information:
Players will be able to choose between three races tom play as, which include Humans, Dwarves and Elves. The diferences are very small, as I'd like to keep things simple and straightforwardd.
Humans: Like you and me. Various sizes, colors and buuilds.
Dwarves: Short and stocky, males usually have big beards and the ladies are usually thicc and stacked. Dwarves are stronger and tougher than humans, but tend to be slower and have a harder time learning magic from tomes than the other races.
Elves: Elves look like humans, but with long pointy ears and are typically a bit shorter on average. Elves are faster, more dexterous and agile, and have better natural sense than humans, but are typically less physically strong and less durable.
And that's all she wrote. If you wanna be a dwarf from some undeground mountain keep, go for it. But you could just as well be a dwarf who lived in a surface-city and was a baker. No pre-existing notions of what the races prefer or what their society is like exists, so feel free to come up with your own background and culture if you want, for your character at least.
Magic comes in two forms; Staves/wands and Tomes. The latter is a book, a grimoire of power, that - by reading - your character will learn a spell from, which they can then cast at will. The former, is a magic tool, which has been enchanted to contain a specific spell of a specific strength, but that can be used by anyone without even having any knowledge or skill in magic at at all. Tomes require you to study and practice, while staves/wands give you access to instant, but limited number of uses, magic.
Everything and everyone in the world possess magic energy. Staves/Wands work by drawing in ambient magical energies, converting it automatically into the spell, and then discharging it as the wielder commands. Meanwhile, magic spells learned through tomes require the caster the channel a bit of magic of their own to act as a catalyst, allowing they themselves to draw in ambient magic and then formulating and casting the spell on their own. The process is similar in both cases, but the mehtod is different.
Spells come in five distinct tiers, and each spell requires an individual tome to be learned, or a seperate staff/wand to cast. The tiers are: - Novice - Apprentice - Adept - Expert - Master
Naturally, the higher tier a spell is, the more magic it needs to be cast. As well as the more expensive the tome and staff/wand will be. I'd urge players not to start with any spells above 'Apprentice' level though, as I'd like for you all to have something to work towards and not just be able to 'Earth Wall' up entire new houses on Day 1.
there are also six elements in the world, whcih consist of the following: - Air/Wind - Earth/Plant - Fire/Heat - Water/Ice - Dark/Shadow - Light/Holy
the elements all work in a mirror-match scenario. Meaning that each of the opposing elements are both strong against, but also weak to, their respective counterpart. Again, things are kept simple and straightforward.
More details and better explanations will be found in the OOC; if it gets made.
Everything you do in this Roleplay will require stamina. From tearing down the old buildings, sawing new planks, fishing, tilling the soil or just exploring, every sungle thing will drain some of your body's energy. Which means you won't be able to do things like continuous hard labor for an entire day without getting fatigued, or fight endless hordes of monsters on your own without a breather. You can increase your stamina, of course, but there won't be a hard number of stamina-points to keep track of.
Instead, each player is asked to be fair and reasonable with the amount of actions and the intensity of what it is they're doing. I don't want to police everyone, but if I feel that someone is just doing thing after thing adfer thing, with no indication that they're getting worn down, I will step in as GM. So, let's try and be reasonable and not act as if our blood was filled with Red Bull all the time, 'kay? Like, I'm not saying taht your character should start breathing heavily and be exhausted after pushing a wheelbarrow from point A to point B, or that they need to sit down everytime they take a swing with a timber axe. Just keep your character's physique in mind and try to not go overboard wiht their activity, and all's good~
Notes:
I'm looking for a group of between 4 to 7 players, at the most. Maybe 8, but that's the very top, max limit of people I'm willing to take on. I don't want to this to get blown up or overpopulated.
While there won't be a post-echedule or anything of that, I will expect everyone who joins to be able to post at least once every week. It doesn't have to be a big, massive, multi-paragraph post, but we need to have some form of activity of some kind. Even if your character's just sitting on their proch, in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe. That's totally fine, just something to let us know you're still around.
Please avoid making characters who're serial killers, psychopaths, overly anti-social or otherwise just wouldn't fit into the setting and feel of the RP. While I usually go for a "first come, first serve" mentality on my RPs, I'm going to be a bit more selective with who I accept into this RP. I'm not saying you need to create a Goody-goody who loves everyone, but I do want you to keep in mind that this isn't a gritty, grimdark setting where everything's doom and gloom either. Also, do try to keep your character within the younger age demographic, teen to young adult. As being a grizzled, world-travelled veteran who's a jack/jill-of-all-trades would be a bit against the spirit of the game.
Expanding on the topic of characters; players will also be limited to one character per person. While I can understand the want to play multiple toons, I prefer people to focus on and develop a singular character. Because it usually results in a more detailed and consistant individual/personality.
While I mentioend that there's no overhanging, world-consuming plot to worry about, there will still be events and incidents that happen to the village, or its surroundings. So there'll be things to do and investigate that have a bit of story or plot to them. You can also feel free to suggest your own ideas and story-arcs for things and stuff to happen. After all, spice of life and all that.
If you've read this far, good on you. I hope that what you've seeen so far has interested, or at least amused, you. If you've got questions or any other thoughts, please feel free to leave them below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Locationn: Umbra Rose Condos, Miyuki & Yumeiko's apartment, Miyuki's room Time of Day: Late Evening Relevant Cast:@CitrusArms Yumeiko "The only thing interesting I found was the strange metal cabinet that sold a weird drink I've never heard of." Miyuki whined, in response to her golden-haired goddess' query. Now that the younger fox was seated on the bed though, Miyuki's own tails began to almost instintively hunt down and start curling around or brushing against the tails of her fellow fox spirit. At the mention of the theater though, Miyuki looked up into the ceiling and pressed a contemplative finger against her own chin. "I don't think they'll put on any kabuki performances at least. Such a shame..." She mused wistfully.
When the topic of food was brought up though, a certain part of Miyuki's body responded before her words could leave her mouth.
GRRRRRRRROOOORRRRRRRRRRWLL~!
Turning her face to the side, with slightly now-rosey cheeks, the black haired fox woman tried to play her indiiscreet hunger off by lazily playing with a strand of her own hair and doing her very, utmost and damndest to try and remain nonchalant and indifferent to her own body's noises.
"I... Suppose I could have a bite of something." The vixen stated cooly, as if she just hadn't declared to the world and beyond that her tum-tum was running on vape-fumes at the moment. Sighing slightly before making a cute 'hnf!' noise as she sat herself upright in the bed, Miyuki's eyes fell on Yumeiko's face and she smiled. Then flopped forward onto the other fox's back and shoulders, wrapping her arms around the other girl's neck. With a pair of very large, very soft and very squishy weights suddenly being pressed against the back of the golden fox.
"Carry me to a feast, O'Sacred One~" She said sweetly, tails still playfully tussling with Yumeiko's.
Miyuki told Yumeiko that the only interesting thing she'd found all day was a vending machine.
Miyuki contemplated Yumeiko's comment about the theater, and concluded that they couldn't watch kabuki-theater at it.
Miyuki's stomach growled in hunger and the fox spirit agreed to go eat dinner with her companion.
Miyuki glomped Yumeiko and, like a spoiled child, asked her to give her a piggy-back ride to the cafeteria.
