Pentagon fails 7th audit in a row, unable to fully account for $824B budget. And to think years ago I willingly became government property for the DoD... 🤦🏻‍♀️

What I'm doing may be considered suicide but my kid fell asleep on the ride home and now he's passed out on my bed. Here's to him pulling a 10 hour shift otherwise work is gonna suck for us tomorrow.

Joined the military, traveled (and more places to go still), finished grad school, married-and subsequently divorced, had a kid... Now all I need is to purchase my own home and my bucket list is done.

This virus has deepened my voice. I don't sound like a man, but something like a drag queen.

Day 1, Late afternoon

“Yes, of course." Annelise went off, walking around the tent to check up on their patients until she noticed someone a few spaces away. “James, is it?" Annelise briefly glanced over his personal info after reaching his side. “Want to tell me the reason for the intense lip-biting or were you planning on toughing it out?"

“Doc, I...it hurts, right here," the 40-year-old man gently patted his side, looking at her before she slowly zipped down his navy blue overalls. Suddenly, there was a soft grip on her wrist and Annelise looked at James. “Woah, doc, this is not even our first date..." James chuckled to himself.

“If one thing this bravado of yours tells me is that you’re in good spirits," she added.

“Wow, a psychologist too? How did I ever get so—"

It was during that moment that Annelise pressed her hand into the side, and James reacted with a shark inhale while trying to keep himself from screaming in pain. “Does it hurt like this only when I touch it?"

“And when I move."

He more than likely had a bruised rib.“This pain may linger for a while, but I’ll bring you something to help with that. For now I’ll keep an eye on you, it may be nothing serious." No more serious than that head wound, she thought to herself.

The man simply nodded his head. Back in the hospital, they would have taken an x-ray given his complaint, butt, well, they weren’t at the hospital.
@Baphomini@Baphomini if there was a previous agreement to interact then no worries! You guys have plenty of characters she can pick from!
@Baphomini I haven't had my characters interact with Kelly yet because I was unsure of the direction you wanted to go with him at this moment.

@Xandrya Maybe your character, Annelise, can interact with him? I will leave that to the two of you. :)

I would like to finish Day 1 by tomorrow and move on. Thoughts??

I'm fine moving to Day 2 tomorrow.

In regards to the interaction with Annie and Kelly, would it take place the following day? @Baphomini, thoughts?

Edit: going by the latest IC, that interaction can take place on Day 2 imo.

Bio updated! And btw, I work FT and I'm a toddler mom so I can post a few times a week but I wouldn't say I can do multiple posts per day. Just wanted to communicate that! =]
Day 1, Afternoon

Annelise finished downing an entire water bottle before wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. She’d never sweated so much in such a short amount of time outside of her workouts. She was drenched, really, and beyond fatigued. What with the entire morning and early afternoon running back and forth between patients, this was her first real break. And she wasn’t even running, really, not with her limp. As a result of the crash, Annelise had a bad ankle and a gash starting near her left ear, going down her jaw and ending on her neck. The wound had since been stitched up by one of the nurses whose name currently escaped her, and it was none other than Dr. Biermann who insisted she take it easy. But if Annelise sat down and took a break, then she’d have to listen to her own thoughts, and she’d much rather be doing anything else other than listen to her thoughts.

The announcement to buckle up had been made, and Annelise gripped the small, personal bag on her lap. Not much good that did her, not when the aircraft starting jerking about violently. Annelise then closed her eyes and began praying. She hadn’t prayed since she was a little girl, but now it seemed an appropriate time as ever to ask for assistance from a higher being. Hell, she didn’t even seek spiritual guidance when the time for exams came and she believed herself to be on the brink of failing. Not because of her lack of smarts, but because her sleep leading up to such event had practically been non-existent.

She was in the middle of her prayer for the nth time when the force from the impact caused her head to be struck by some unknown, heavy object. Annelise was knocked unconscious and remained in such state well into the crew’s efforts to pull bodies from the wreckage, whether alive or not. She only came to a short time just before sunrise, the pain from her injuries growing worse as she shook off the confusion and disorientation of what had transpired. Dr. Biermann was within earshot once she woke up, and he was kind enough to walk over and calm her down by filling her in with the details. The brief details, that is…there was no time to be telling stories.

And so now, here she was. Her ankle was throbbing again, but Annelise made the decision to half the pain medication intake just to make it last longer. She hadn’t yet conducted inventory of any medical supplies, but maybe one of the nurses had gotten the job done. If not, that was certainly something she would probably find herself busy with towards the second half of the day if no patient’s condition got worse.

Just then she heard some commotion not too far in the distance. She caught Dr. Biermann’s voice and curiosity getting the best of her, Annelise couldn’t help but wonder in that direction. Apparently whatever exchange was going on garnered the attention of those nearby as well. Annelise watched from a distance as the argument unfolded but didn’t necessarily call for intervention. Or at least, that’s what her superior made it out to be when he waved away the approaching help. With a small shake of her head, Annelise turned towards the medical tent once she’d had enough. It was then one of the nurses, Samantha, called out for them, and Annelise did her best to rush in that direction. Eventually upon her arrival, she noted Dr. Biermann already there.

"Where do you need me?"
Dr. Annelise Jennings, Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Female, 36 yoa

Marital Status, Sexual Orientation: Widow, heterosexual

Physical Description: 5’3 in stature. Used to exercise regularly and although not bulky, her body is clearly toned. No tattoos or major scars.

Psychological Description/Personality: A kind-hearted individual by nature. At times feels she must right any wrongs and bring justice to light, which has gotten her into trouble quite a few times in the past. Often quiet and pensive, and if caught, will apologize and smile for her lack of presence. Though the tragedy that struck nearly a decade ago brought her to her knees and left her bedridden for days, she’s since improved. Needless to say, she does to this day have nightmares and if triggered just right, she may hallucinate for a very short period of time. This happens if someone she comes across has the same, or very similar mannerisms as her husband.

Education: University of Florida alumni. Attended the college from freshman year up to medical school where she was awarded her MD upon completion.

Family/Friends:
  • Marcus Jennings, Husband - Deceased
  • Raquel Peters, Mother
  • Nathan Peters, Father
  • Stacy Dorman, Best Friend
  • Chris Jennings, Brother-in-Law

Background: Born into a middle class family without any brothers or sisters, Annelise had a relatively easy upbringing. Her family was well off and she got the chance to attend some of the better private schools in the area. Being a young child, she often got the question of “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, and her response was always the same: a doctor. Her passion never left her, and she studied her way into multiple scholarships with that one goal in mind.

Eventually, once she graduated, Annelise took that summer break to travel non-stop. She visited many destinations, even some impoverished locations, and she also met her future husband, Marcus Jennings, while in Europe. The two hit it off almost immediately and had practically been inseparable since whenever they were in the same city. Being only a year older than her, Marcus transferred to her college prior to the start of the new semester. They moved in together that January and about a year prior to her graduating med school, Marcus asked her to be his wife.

The wedding was simple, but nice. Family and close friends, maybe a work associate of Marcus or two in attendance, Annelise didn’t really count. She’d hired a wedding planner who come to find out would have a whole lot in common with her. Stacy became her close friend, and in no time the two were sharing secrets and the occasional gossip as if they were in high school all over again.

Everything seemed well for some years to follow until unfortunately, Marcus fell ill without warning. Annelise took some time off to spend it with him, but she only grew sadder when day after day, there was no improvement and no promises from his doctors. She was frantic, and amidst the chaos, Marcus’ only sibling, Chris, came to town to be with his bedridden brother. His mere presence made Annelise feel uneasy, and her suspicions were confirmed when he tried hitting on her, cornering the woman in one of the break rooms in the hospital. A few moments later Marcus passed away, and the timing couldn’t have been worse as she wasn’t by his side but instead, she was fighting off his brother.

Annelise took some additional time for herself, eventually returning to the hospital where she would go on to pick up as many shifts as her body would allow. Her superiors were concerned, as well as her family and friends. Eventually, with the help of a therapist, Annelise was able to cope with her emotions a little better, once more finding joy in the simple pleasures of life but not without the occasional break down and crying whenever her emotions got the better of her.

How she came across this humanitarian aid mission? The Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery within the hospital actually recommended her for the position. He thought it’d do her good and seeing she didn’t have much to lose, Annelise agreed to go and lend a helping hand.

Other: Annelise doesn’t take any medication per se, but she does have trouble sleeping. Since her husband’s passing, she’s sleepwalked a few times, but she has not been all that active and does go back to sleep in less than five minutes.

Direction for your Character: Survive and get back home. She will help to the best of her ability but understands her limitations. Having a good friend or two wouldn’t hurt. She’s not looking for any romantic involvement at the moment, but she does desire for intimacy and physical contact, though this is not evident.

All that you need to know about him is that he’s sarcastic as all hell and he may tell you a little bit about his personal life. Maybe.
@ItIsJustMe that's not a problem! I will catch up on reading what there is so far and submit a post after.
What I have so far, should finish her background in the next day or so!
