Overview


This is an RP set in the Star Wars universe, in the Old Republic Era. Specifically, this RP takes place in 3634 BBY, 3634 years before Star Wars IV: A New Hope, and about 10 years after The Old Republic MMORPG.

This is an era of much war and strife for the galaxy; the Sith Empire has broken the fragile peace treaty established upon the sacking of Coruscant. There is once again open war between the Empire and the Republic. The galaxy is home to many force sensitives, and the two superpowers have been snatching them up to be part of the Sith or the Jedi, respectively. This is technically alternate universe.

Background Information


There is a long-lost artifact called the Victus Crystallis which is said to amplify the powers of any force user to god-like levels. The Republic and the Empire have found out about this artifact and are sending small groups of spacers and force users to the legendary planet of Iego, where the artifact is said to be. Though the planet is widely regarded as a myth, their sources are credible, and both sides are desperate to attain the artifact. The ships must be packed with maintenance droids and back up parts in the shuttle bay, because the legend states that “angels” will make spacers crash land on the planet upon arrival. The characters must be cautious, as they cannot be sure what waits for them on Iego. Their goal is to set up a base and begin reconnaissance on the Victus Crystallis, with the end goal being to secure the artifact for one group or the other.

Spacers, mercenaries, and force sensitives that are interested in helping the Republic find the Victus Crystallis can report to Coruscant, Sector H-12 or the “Hope” Sector, while those interested in helping the Empire find the artifact can report to the Kaas City Spaceport on the planet Dromund Kaas.

A Note on My Involvement


As the GM, my main purpose is to facilitate a cohesive story and nudge the players toward major events every once and a while. I will be taking control of several NPCs, both on the side of the Sith and the Jedi. However, as players, feel free to craft side stories as you see fit, and of course you will be major influences to the main plot. Should our group be self-sufficient enough, I may not even need to control the story at all.

I will also be playing a Sith character with the Empire's group.

Some of the categories may be slightly ambiguous, so here is an explanation of the less obvious components:

Affiliation: This refers to whether you are affiliated with the Republic, the Empire, or unaffiliated. Those who choose "unaffiliated" will still have to choose one of the groups to go to Iego with. The latter is for mercs, spacers, etc. who are along to make some credits but don't show fealty to one group or the other.

Battle Attire and Armor: At first glance, these two entries may seem identical. Battle Attire refers to the appearance of the attire, while Armor refers to the protective qualities of the attire.

Connections: This refers to characters that your character has an important connection to, one that is either relevant to the plot or the character's history. They become characters that the player can then call on as NPCs. These characters can accompany your character to Iego if you wish, but keep it to two or less in that case.

Force Abilities, Standard Abilities, and Special Abilities: The parameters of each are not explained above. Force Abilities are, obviously, any abilities that are a direct result of the force. Standard Abilities are any abilities that are natural to the character, or any abilities that are a result of past training or environment. Special Abilities are any abilities that do not fit into either Standard or Force Abilities.

Selecting Abilities

While selecting Standard and Special Abilities, the player has creative control. However, when selecting Force Abilities, one must keep their rank in mind.

Force users in this RP will start out as Jedi Knights or Sith. They are fairly seasoned in the ways of the force and should have several Force Abilities. The player is free to create these abilities if they so choose, but they should also consider checking the Force Powers link at the end of this post, in the Wookieepedia Links section. Keep in mind that the characters are NOT masters, so the level of their Force Abilities should not be incredibly powerful.

Selecting a Species

Only human, near-human or humanoid Species may be used. The species must also be sentient. For ideas on what Species to choose, check the Wookieepedia links at the end of this post. No Ewoks, no Jawas. Examples of preferred races include Human, Twi'lek, Wookie, Zabrak, Pureblood Sith, Rodian, etc.



Rules


1. In this RP, my rules are law. Deliberate infractions will earn you a warning. A second warning earns you a one-way ticket out. I won't abuse this, as I have no desire to boot anyone from my RP.

2. The RP is rated PG-13. No unnecessary gore, no sex (see rule 3). The exception is cursing, which is fine.

3. Romance is allowed, but take anything past kissing to PMs. Any post describing sexual acts and you'll be removed.

4. Posts are a one to two paragraph minimum. Try not to speed post, just post when it feels natural.

5. Respect your fellow RPers.

6. I fully reserve the right to reject any character sheet that I do not find satisfactory. I will not abuse this privilege, and if I do reject a template I will try to give at least one reason why I do not find it satisfactory.

7. At least one post per week is required. If you do not post for a week without PM'ing me a 'heads up', you risk being removed.

8. I can and will add more rules if I see fit. I will not abuse this privilege, and I will always explain why the rule needs to be added.

9. When a one or more player characters start fighting one or more NPCs, I will post in this thread to give the players an idea of the NPCs power level. Some NPCs will be one-hit kills, while others will require more effort to take down.

10. Use of Force Abilities will result in fatigue. The more powerful the ability, the more it will fatigue the user. Your character does not have infinite stamina. Please keep this in mind during combat sequences.

11. Powerplaying, especially in combat, is not acceptable. Never take control of another's character without their permission, including force hitting (describing the full effect of an attack without giving the opponent a chance to react).

Being born on a world steeped in the dark side caused her eyes to be red, a color not usually found among the Valha. Also note that, while the picture depicts a cybernetic arm, both of Djezalia's arms are normal. Djezalia stands about 5'7".

Personality: Djezalia is a quiet and calculated individual. She is somewhat anti-social but is still quite capable in social situations if she wants to be. She has an underlying thirst for blood that comes out when she becomes angry. Djezalia is also remarkably cruel. She greatly respects the Sith and the Empire but is not afraid to step on their toes to get what she wants.

Connections: Darth Umbra aka Tulan Belairius- Adopted father/Dromund Kaas/"Adopted" her during a raid after killing her parents. Partially responsible for training Djezalia in the ways of the Sith.

History: Djezalia was born to a group of wandering Valha who were both force sensitive. Djezalia grew up on Vjun until she was six years old, at which point her parents left with a group of nomadic Vahla. While on a Republic space station, the station was raided by the Empire. Djezalia's parents were killed in the turmoil and she was left as an orphan. Toward the end of the raid, she was discovered by a Sith Lord named Tulan Belairius. Tulan sensed her natural force sensitivity and forcefully adopted her.

For the next twelve years of her life, Tulan trained Djezalia in the ways of the Sith and the Matukai, all the while cultivating her hatred for him. He trained her how to refine her natural talent with the force and to harness the power of the dark side. Being a Vahla (born on Vjun, no less), Djezalia excelled in all of Tulans teachings. By the time she was 18, she had completed all of the training necessary to become a full-fledged Sith, including building her own lightsaber.

Djezalia then left to Korriban to train in its naturally dark energies. There she explored the tombs of Tulak Hord and Marka Ragnos, learning many dark side lessons. She remained on Korriban for two years. During that time Djezalia was asked to be an instructor for the students at the academy. She accepted the offer. Her students had less than a 10% passing rate, but those that did pass her training became the prime example of a Sith.

After her time on Korriban, Djezalia went back to Vjun and trained in solitude for a year. Within this time, she honed her skills in the dark side and nurtured her hatred for her father. She came back and took the Empire by storm, assisting the military and helping to win many skirmishes. However, despite her power and her efforts, she went unnoticed by the Empire by and large. Djezalia has concluded that her father is taking credit for her efforts.

Now, having heard of the Victus Cystallis, Djezalia travels to Dromund Kaas, intent on proving her worth to the Empire once and for all...

Combat Info

Weaponry: Personal Lightsaber Bloodlust- This is Djezalia's lightsaber that she built herself. It houses a Synth-Crystal that makes a more powerful, but less maneuverable blade. When clashing with a non-Synth lightsaber, this blade has an extremely slim chance to short the other lightsaber, making it unable to be used for at least a minute (it is the opponent's decision whether or not this takes place upon a clash). The color is red with a black core.

Armor: Djezalia’s battle attire is light and offers flexibility over protection. However, The metal section over her chest resists blaster bolts, while the fiber of the rest of her armor dampens damage from most types of blasters.

Standard Abilities:

Form IV: Ataru- Djezalia is competent in the lightsaber form Ataru, a primarily aggressive form that utilizes acrobatics along with quick and devastating burst attacks. Djezalia’s Matukai Training allows her to augment her dexterity while in this form by drawing on the force.

Form V: Shien/Djem So- This form is two fold; the Shien style is focused on reflecting blaster bolts and Djem So is focused on counter-attacking, while both styles make use of short power attacks. The aim of this form is to use the opponent's attacks against them.

Force Abilities:

Matukai Training- The Matukai were a group that believed the physical body could be used as a conduit of the force. To this end, they practiced martial arts, exercised vigorously, and practiced physical meditations, all intertwined with the force. This ability actually encompasses several abilities:

Physical Superiority- Djezalia is able to passively channel the force to improve her dexterity, strength, and stamina. Unless being channeled for stamina, this will fatigue her. She cannot channel to improve more than one area at once. If improving stamina, further use of Force Abilities will fatigue her as normal.

Martial Artist- Djezalia is a superb hand-to-hand fighter. She could even be considered a specialist.

Force Jump- Djezalia can use this training to jump incredible distances, vertically and horizontally. At its most powerful, this ability can allow Djezalia to jump 30' both in height and distance.

Force Speed- Djezalia is able to speed up her movements with the force. It also makes Djezalia perceive everything to be slightly slower.

Saber Throw- Djezalia can throw her blade, using the force to guide it to her target and bring it back to her. She is talented in it’s execution, though she is unable to use more difficult techniques such as changing the course of the weapon mid-throw. This power has a maximum range of 30’.

Sith Lightning- The classic Sith power, Djezalia channels her hatred and suffering into electricity that then erupts out of her palms. It is a powerful ability that causes a good amount of damage and is also capable of shorting out electric technology. However, the ability also quite difficult to sustain. This power has a maximum range of 30'. Djezaria is unique in the sense that when using this ability, the electricity produced is black.

Force Flame- A power not often seen. While on Vjun, training in a particularly volcanic region, Djezalia was practicing one of her martial arts forms when she was overcome with a burning desire. She thrust out her hand and flames spouted forth in a jet of death. Now Djezalia considers it her trademark ability. The flame of this ability is fueled by the force and can damage even heat-retardant materials. This power has a maximum range of 10'.

Special Abilities: None.

History: Since he was a child he has wanted to be a Jedi. He spent his early childhood trailing behind both his older brother Kert and his cousin Keffa, both of whom were stronger in the force than him. This lead to him being more strategic in his battles, always looking for a way to take the advantage in battle. His basic force training, including that of his brother and cousin, came from his Aunt, and Keffa's mother, Jala. When he grew up, his brother and cousin having left home to join the Jedi, he got a job at the spacedock, repairing the ships that landed there.
At the age of 21 he decided that he couldn't wait any longer, that the threat posed by the Sith was too great, so he went to the recruitment center one day after work to sign up. After being excepted, he learned powers of a more strategic nature, as opposed to the more active powers favored by most of the Jedi. He joined the mission to Iego as an engineer, knowing that the mission was too important, and that his services would be necessary when they arrived.

Appearance: Vindica is a pale skinned human with dark chestnut hair. She has several lighter braids spread throughout. Her garb is mostly leathers, taken from animals she hunted herself, and adorned with a skull at her belt. Her midriff is bared, her leather skirt is split on two sides and she wears black lipstick and darkens her eyelids with kohl.

Casual Attire: Vindica dresses archaically. She lived her entire life upon a primitive world and the Sith ruling over it and visiting there played to the expectations of what the primitive species there would more readily accept as a god.

Battle Attire: Vindica's battle attire is the same as her casual attire.

Personal Info


Personality: Vindica is Sith to the core. She's always looking for an angle, some means to advance her position with the Sith. Thus she is always looking for information she can blackmail other Sith with. She is also always looking for scapegoats in case anything goes wrong. Vindica also likes hurting people. She enjoys inflicting nightmares and filling people with irrational fear until their minds break. She also, secretly, likes being ordered about and likes being in the throes of a more powerful Sith. She, of course, would never admit this to anyone and fights this part of her own nature.

Connections:
--Vindica's Parents: Not important. They are mere mortals.
--Vindica's Sith Lord and Master: Possibly another PC. If not I'll make one up later.
--Keffa, a rather pretty Jedi that she tortured relentlessly until she became Sith.

History: Vindica was born on an insignificant mudball of a planet. Her people were primitive and agrarian and had the misfortune of being deeply inside territory belonging to the Sith. The Sith here were worshipped as gods and all they needed do was perform a few miracles, heal the occasional person and then they could demand half of their crops.

Vindica was the daughter of a hunter. Her father teaching her how to move through the woods silently and stalk prey. Her mother making tallow from the fat of the prey he felled. On her twelfth birthday that she was taken by the gods who senses her divine nature. They would teach her their ways and make her one of them they told her parents and as reward for their "sacrifice" they gods forced the others to provide them with a palatial home.

So it came to pass that Vindica was trained in the ways of the force, only seldom returning to dwell amongst the mortals of her homeworld. She came to delight in trodding upon the week and ruling with an iron fist inside a velvet glove. Oh certainly, so long as the people obeyed she could treat them with kindness but a single spoken word against the Gods was rewarded with smiting and a righteous wrath.

Training on Korriban was the most difficult thing Vindica had ever undergone. She wasn't strong physically, nor particularly gifted with the lightsaber but her mastery of the force, especially the ephemeral. The hardest part was when the Sith had them hunting down and killing humans released onto the surface of Korriban. They were innocents, prisoners taken in various raids into Republic space but Vindica did her duty and, to her horror found she enjoyed it. She began turning the students against one another, stealing things from one room, planting them in another, started whispering false rumours which resulted in animosity. All of which she rode to a prestigious position amongst the graduates.

After graduation she was assigned a Darth master and served as a special agent. She helped route out rebels on various Sith worlds. Her ability to break the mind was a powerful tool to such effect, allowing her to create sleeper agents in rebellious factions. Her ability to wipe memories and implant false backgrounds into common mortals made her the ultimate spy. What rebel would argue with a comrade who swore upon his life that he knew Vindica for years and that she was trustworthy?

Some time after her graduation she was presented with an interesting challenge, a captured Jedi woman. Normally Jedi perished rather than be taken and those that did not perish soon used the force to end their own lives. This one, however, chose not to die. Vindica tortured the woman and pleasured her and occasionally did both at the same time. She even presented mortals to Keffa, promising a several day respite should she simply take the innocent life. In time Keffa broke, came to realize what Vindica was trying to teach her. That delivering pain was far preferable than receiving it and that delivery could be quite pleasurable.

Her new sister is now something of a rival. While Keffa is already trained and cannot be considered an apprentice by any means Vindica is her senior and mentor. Vindica knows that Keffa is plotting to take her place and that is part of the fun. While at the same time, Vindica intends to include Keffa in her own plans for those that scheme together advance together. Simply put, if Vindica advances then she will advance Keffa into the position she so recently vacated.

It was for her performance in these matters that she was chosen to pursue an ancient artifact, one that would help tip the war between Republic and Sith empire in their favour.

Combat Info


Vindica prefers not to engage in combat. She prefers hiding in the shadows and manipulating events from as far away as she can manage. Why fight an enemy when you can plant a document in his possession and report him anonymously to the authorities?

Weaponry: Vindica possesses a short lightsaber, it has less reach but it is faster and easier to control to better to defend herself.

Non-Weapon Technology:
--A Pain Inducer: an adhesive disc with a remote control that inflicts varying levels of pain, especially if one tries to remove it.
--Analyzer: In effect, a miniature hand held droid. This droid can analyze unfamiliar technology and can talk Vindica through very simple technological tasks. She mostly uses it for bypassing door locks, disabling power junctions and other things that help enhance her stealth.

Armor: None. Only heavy durasteel helps against lightsabers and such armour interferes too much with the force and slows the reflexes. Personal force fields are even worse!

Standard Abilities: Lightsaber Combat

Force Abilities: Vindica is strong in the ephemeral arts. Her ability to alter the physical world is quite limited. Her telekinesis and force push are easy to resist and her ability to lift objects is limited to what she can carry in her own two hands. She is also capable of leaping a fair distance but that is the limit of her physical arts. Force Leap, TelekinesisOn the ephemeral side she is something of a monster. Force Sense, Mind Trick, Mind Control (like the Mind trick but takes some time to implement as it requires the mind to be broken first), Mind Wiping, Illusion, Invisibility to life forms (Doesn't work on droids. This is, in effect, a powerful mind trick), Force Visions

One of her favorite tricks is to hit Jedi with an illusion. When the Jedi see through this illusion she sends in the Sith Troops... covered in an illusion of Sith troops... This often has the spectacular effect of having the Jedi disbelieving the illusions and not even bothering to deflect the very real blaster bolts that cut them down.

Special Abilities: None

Weaknesses: Vindica, having come from a primitive culture, is particularly deficient at engineering, electronics, slicing and other technical skills. This does not mean that she can't order a Sith engineer to do so in her stead but can be a weakness when she's sneaking about.

Other Info: Vindica has had a force vision. She has seen herself and her trooper bodyguards slain by either a light blue skinned Twi'lekki female or a Togruta aboard some sort of spaceship or space station. This bothers her to some extent and fears it shall come to pass. (If the situation does occur, Vindica will be slain.)

Personal Info

Personality: Impulsive, she is always quick to exploit any opening she sees, even without thinking it through sometimes. She is driven to become the best, to prove that she can be the equal of any Sith or Jedi, or even better than them.

History: Trained by her mother, a Jedi trainee that failed to pass the initiation trials and had to leave the order, from a young age, when she was ten she started sparring with her six year old cousin, Mot. No matter what weapon they used, from padded swords as children to vibroblades as teenagers, she always bested him but, infuriatingly, he never knew when to quit, always pushing himself to try and beat her, and always failing. He did, however, force her to improve her own skills with a blade to defeat him.
At the age of eighteen she signed up at a Jedi recruitment drive, quickly rising to the rank of Knight. It was then that she was given her current mission. Defect. Join the Sith and become a spy within their ranks. When she believed she had information that would greatly damage the Sith's war efforts, she was to get the information to the Republic by whatever secure means necessary. Shortly after joining, however, she was found out while trying to send Sith troop deployments back to the Jedi. She was tortured and broken, and through that she came to realize the true power of the dark side. With it's power fueling her, she destroyed the torture droid and its organic supervisor. Knowing that the Jedi would never accept her back if they learned what she did, she joined the Sith, and, through her meditations came to realize that the Jedi, through their reliance on the "light side", were weak. She became an assassin for her Sith masters, taking whatever lives they demanded, and learning to enjoy it, and the increased powers the slayings brought her. She keeps her lightsaber its original color not just for the fact that it makes people assume she's a Jedi, but because it reminds her of the weakness she once had, and the weakness she still must purge from herself.

OK. I don't HAVE to use both, but I created them as a rival pair, so I can do both. If someone else wants to take one, that's good to. Having someone else use my character against me would be great, as the rivalry could expand in ways I hadn't thought of.

Sounds great. In the case that we get a lot of participants, I'll probably ask you to only use one, but for now it's fine (so long as I end up accepting the second character, haven't had time to look her over yet).

A mind rub(aka memory rub) is a dark side attack similar to the mind trick. It blocks a person from accessing a specific memory, or deletes the memory altogether, depending on how well it's done. It is used to block the short term memories of seeing a specific Sith when used constantly as an area of effect power, or a specific memory of interaction with a Sith when used on one person. The technique can be expanded to delete any memory, though the older or more engrained the memory is, the more difficult it is to erase.

Memory rub

Example: A Sith that needs to hide out on a planet can use it as an AOE so that when the Jedi come looking for him, noone remembers seeing him. Or: A Sith buys thermal detonators from a smuggler, then uses it to make the smuggler forget about the purchase. When security catches the smuggler, he can't tell security who he sold the detonators to, or any specifics of the sale or the client.

Personality: Jett is a busy bee when it comes to information. Sociable, hyper and easygoing are a few words that come to mind upon first glance, but he tends to use this as a facade as he analyzes everything around him. He's calm, collected and always in thought even if he seems all over the place at times. He tends to seek more logical solutions to problems that don't involve brute force. Jett tries to take reasonable approaches to situations and discussions and tries to see both sides before attempting to resolve them. If you piss him off, it's as if some lit a firecracker beneath his feet, so prepare for a fist fight- or maybe just a vibroblade to the throat.

Connections: No connections besides people he has worked for in the past.

History: Growing up with status and wealth on Coruscant, Jett had everything he could have hoped for as a child. Although after slowly maturing he came to hate wealth and how it consumed his parents entirely. It was no surprise that after his mother and father passed away and he inherited their belongings he gave everything away freely to those who were less fortunate than he was. He promised himself that he would never look back on his past life, convincing himself that true happiness will arise from being independent and forging success from himself. He wanted to sincerely help others and tried volunteering for a few months before totally giving up on it. Coming to the realization that he now had no way to economically support himself, he joined partners with Mako, a childhood friend and learned the smuggling trade. The rush of his first smuggling run acted as a drug that he couldn't get enough of. He eventually split away from his friend after personal difficulties and became a Freelancer- an independent Spacer. As a lone Smuggler he learned his way around weapons and their importance to any Spacer. Years passed and Jett began challenging himself to collect bounties on wanted criminals. After all, they were criminals and someone had to track them down. The thrill and adrenaline that pumped through Jetts veins as he committed to these insane tasks were well worth the danger and risk.

Whether it was planned or not, it was clearly a set up from the start. Was he too blind to see it? The day before his twenty third birthday, he only had one last mission to carry out for his client. They had outfitted him with brand new gear a few days prior to ensure his results. Some type of Prototype Mandalorian armor, is what they claimed it as? It didn't matter, to him it was still just a job he couldn't wait to get over with. As he approached the target warehouse, he called up the Jet Boosters from his helmets HUD and shot directly onto it's roof. He carefully trudged over to a roof access door and slipped inside. As he reached the high rafters of the warehouse he began scanning for his target, analyzing each persons face until he received a matching confirmation. Seven scans later, the target is identified, twenty three year old Gerard Mako, Jetts childhood friend who introduced him into the world of smuggling. With the knowledge of the fact that they would be the same age tomorrow and with the remembrance of their past, Jett backed out.

His client was less than happy with the results. A group of thugs now began to encircle Jett, but he had the upper hand still- he had the prototype armor. He quickly bolted to his former clients side and called out in an attempt to use his helmets voice recognition functionality. "Blade." He stated with a subtle hint of authority. Two discs rotated on back of the armors lower torso and revealed the grips of two Vibrodaggers. He whisked them from behind him and held them to the mans neck, like a butcher preparing to slaughter his livestock. The rest can be read in a lengthy news report anywhere in the Coruscant news archive.

Gotta sleep now so I will make my profiles tomorrow. So far, I'm thinking of a big Keshiri Sith fighter. A veritable tank and powerful warrior wielding a lightclub... so pretty much not sneaky or subtle at all :p That he will leave to his other Sith allies. As for the Jedi side, I'm thinking of an Echani female who while not ignoring her people's tradition of agile fighting in meele also couples it with a bit of Trooper training and embracing long range weaponry.

TheUnknowable, thanks for that, just wanted to make sure it was memory rub you were referring to. Please edit a short version of mind rub's description into your main sheet.

Assallya, I'm not sure if your character is complete, as the History section seems like it's a bit of a cliffhanger. I may be reading too much into it. In the case that Vindica is complete on your end, she's accepted on mine. There was one point of confusion though, but I feel this was probably just a typo or something similar. Under Force Powers, it says her telekinesis is easy to resist but then lists the power a second time after discussing the ephemeral abilities. Is the latter mention simply a list of all of Vindica's abilities?

Missed this with my last post. That sounds great, Blue Slyph! I'm looking forward to seeing those ideas fleshed out.

There I think that about does it. I may go back and include some more information about her master at some point provided nothing in the OOC encourages linking two characters. I also cleaned up the force powers. I talk about the powers before listing them. That's where it was a little confusing before.
