We have a Batarian already, they are very rarely played in ME RPs. And a Quarian. Oh and two Drell, which while more council affiliated than the others, are still not technically council as they lack an embassy. So there are non council races, its just not a Krogan spam.

Standing a a rough height of about 5'11, Iosif possesses something of a wiry frame that's been honed by years of training and experience in the field, but is otherwise of an average physical complexion. Due in part to his having ventured out into the galaxy on his travels, his skin tone appears to have taken on a darker complexion than most slavs. Accompanying this are numerous faded scars of varying severity running across his torso, whilst across his back is a criss-cross of faded lacerations which resemble wounds caused by flogging. On the back of his neck is a faded barcode tattooed into the skin with several Batarian numerals and letters etched into the skin beside it. That aside, Iosif's left arm is clearly alien to the rest of his body: from the shoulder-down it appears that his arm is a cybernetic replacement, complemented with a synthetic white coating. Elsewhere, Iosif's pale blue eyes and the pronounced features of his face do well to point out his slavic heritage, with brunette-colored hair that's kept short with a crew cut whilst his jawline seldom develops anything more than a hazy stubble.

Well with classes, there are going be a couple of duplicates no matter what as there are only six major classes and more than six characters.

I was originally going with infiltrator, but since my characters powers and modus operandi are only a little infiltrator-like I swapped out to engineer. I was already not taking Tactical cloak so it was no great loss.

So I guess it's still sort of a WIP. But I'd still very much welcome any critiquing on what I already have, so that I don't make any of the same mistakes again!


Alrighty, time to whip out ye olde sheet comb. Dun, dun, duuuun!

The weapon thing was addressed, so rock on! The part where the Eviscerator's date comes from the wiki, The Lieberschaft 2180 shotgun, or "Eviscerator," is of human civilian design and has a unique ammunition generator. Where most modern firearms shave off chips or pellets from an ammunition block, the M-22 shaves off serrated metal edges designed to fly aerodynamically. This dramatically improves its armor-piercing capabilities, and its tight grouping ensures lethality at longer ranges than standard shotguns. This design violates several intergalactic weapons treaties, so the M-22 is not distributed to militaries.

Sadly, we're two years short of happy fun shotgun times. Sigh. The problems with these prequel games is sometimes the fun toys haven't been invented yet.

First bit of lore wonkiness that stuck out was quarians attending school with other children on the Citadel; this simply would not be the case, if not for the fact that their people are generally seen as pariahs and thieves to the rest of the galactic community and probably wouldn’t want them living in the neighbourhoods (plus, C-Sec harassment. You saw how that one quarian was being treated when the volus accused her of stealing his credit chit in the second game, or when Tali is telling you about that other officer that was basically being a dick to her when she arrived on the Citadel with a bullet wound in the third game), but also because unless a quarian is exiled or voluntarily leaves the Migrant Fleet (not an easy choice, and the vast majority of quarians would never do that), they’re already educated and out on their pilgrimage as young adults where they’re living in various places trying to find something to bring back to the fleet. Imagining quarian children living in the Wards, especially without the proper facilities to really maintain the sanitary environments to keep themselves alive in their suits. There’s probably a handful of quarians who somehow took up residence in the Citadel on their pilgrimage, but they’d be doing their best to be keeping out of trouble so they don’t draw unwanted attention, given the stigma attached to them. Long story short, there’s very little chance that Saseen would have had any quarian friends growing up, let alone met one in her life.

Her turian pirate friends would be very suspect, given that turians are conscripted into civil service for 15 years as demonstrated from the Wiki,

Turians are noted for their strong sense of public service. It is rare to find one who puts his needs ahead of the group. Every citizen from age 15 to 30 serves the state in some capacity, as anything from a soldier to an administrator, from a construction engineer to a sanitation worker. Turians have a strong inclination toward public service and self-sacrifice, so they tend to be poor entrepreneurs. To compensate, they accepted the mercantile volus as a client race, offering protection in exchange for their fiscal expertise.

As you might recall talking to Garrus, turians are “a hard bunch to please”, given how much emphasis on personal responsibility and serving society is placed on the individual. If a turian entered military service, there’s a very real chance that the only way they’re leaving it before their job is done is by being dishonourably discharged and shifted to some menial service job or in jail. If they deserted and became criminals (which obviously they are, being pirates), there’s very little chance that they’d be able to dock at the Citadel without drawing the attention of C-Sec, and keeping in correspondence with Saseen would implicate both of them, especially if their communications were being monitored, which is a real threat for people who might well be known criminals. You might wish to examine this angle or edit it a bit, because turians are rather unforgiving and there’s very little chance Saseen would be able to run off to join a pirate band and then come back without repercussion (if it was implied she ever returned past communicating with her family). So basically, when she leaves to be a pirate, it’s probably meaning she’s not going back home without very convincing fake credentials.
The Tuchanka visit probably wouldn’t have occurred for the simple reason that it’s in the krogan DMZ, which his generally very monitored by Citadel authorities and it’s extremely dangerous for off worlders to go there. She probably wouldn’t have been able to go there outside of a clandestine operation. In ME2, Shepard was only welcome because his/ her ties to Wrex, and the one krogan’s girlfriend was invited there personally, and we all know Wrex is a big old softie. Tuchanka’s a very dangerous place, very few people in the right mind would go there willingly, especially without a good reason.

Other than that, the story’s very good. :) Like I said, just a few silly little lore things I thought should be addressed. The longish explanations are just so my justifications make sense and where I’m coming from. Overall, I quite like Seseen. And they weren't really mistakes so much as little things that you have to read between the lines with sometimes or recall some obscure conversations from the games to get the complete picture, and there's always the possibility I'm grossly wrong about something, which happens from time to time (Shocking, I know!).

For sure! Although, a lot of the silly multiplayer powers probably are a no go, because I really don't need to see krogan running around with giant electrical hammers and the like.

Not as much, omni-tools are evidently very energy efficient, considering the amount of use they see in the series, and if you do things right, you can basically power spam to infinity and there's not much of a delay between various heavy melee attacks.

However, don't really think of it in terms of a game. Going into this, try to think of it more like one of the novels than the games. The moment you start worrying about cooldowns between powers and weights and blah blah blah is when you start shooting yourself in the foot. If I was really worried about equipment and power templates and use in terms of damage values and so on, I'd probably just play the game instead of writing a story based out of that universe. :P

Don't get ahead of yourself. Keep in mind I'm taking 8 new players, and if there's more than 8 sheets, I'm picking. I do reject people if their character sheets aren't up to standards or grossly out of place.

I know, but we've already got two engineers and given that there's only eight character slots available, I'd rather go for something different for the sake of variety.

Thats true, though there will be a few more than eight characters. I believe Derv said earlier that returning players wont count to the eight, which mean Mosis, Voltaire and myself (and Derv himself of course.) Still, your character is entirely up to you.

Yeah, and besides, it's not you're character class that makes them interesting, it's their character. So pick your favorite class and just make a cool character!

Of course I make it sound easier than it is. My characters are usually pretty one dimensional I think, but I find a certain aspect about them that makes them fun to play and go all out with it. Which is how I get the other players to like them.

Well, considering that Drell are incredibly loyal to the Hanar for saving them....

But then again, has stated by our good friend Mass Effect Wiki

Those who leave Kahje tend to be adventurers. These solitary drell travelers often seek out new species elsewhere, and in turn adopt that species' culture. Such drell number in the thousands, and are scattered across the galaxy, tending towards quiet, integrated lives

So no, it won't be uncommon

Considering that Drell have the same (relative) limb and joint structure as Humans and Asari, it seems likely they would wear the same armor sets. That being said, because of their unique and highly lean muscle structure, most Drell prefer very light armor, if any at all (there will always be exceptions of course).
