Ashlyn wasn't interested in any refreshments from the doctor. She simply wished to start with this 'solitary confinement' he mentioned. Not that it would be a big deal for her. She had various ways to entertain herself when alone. And if someone had the audacity to try and harm her in any way, well, she was very creative when it came to defending herself. She did feel a tad bit...naked, without a nice gun in her hands though. She doubted they would let her have one. Not on the first few days from the way he explained how it would work. However, Before anymore question could be asked or someone could take the offer of refreshments, someone came over Lorenzo's comm-link. The ensuing conversation must have been fairly important, especially if it made him angry like that.

Soon, soldiers, Spartans to be specific, filed into the room. Something big must have happened. A Cruxi attack? A small, not so friendly smile began to form on her face. If they were here...then that meant she might get to see some. Even kill one or two if she had too. She doubted Lorenzo would like that, but the idea was so tantalizingly delicious. She wanted to see what a Cruxi looked like when it was begging not to be killed. Did they do that? If they didn't then she'd make them hurt until they did. If they were incapable of such things, then she'd have quite a bit of fun with it either way.

"Well then, we might as well get moving." Ashlyn stated, standing up. "Standing around here is only going to get us killed. Or some...practical experience. Which I honestly wouldn't mind." She smirked with that last statement, her calm facade dropping a bit as her eagerness to actually fight one of the beasts began to show.

Katyusha had kept silent, and stood next to the other children unflinching. While she was still a girl, she had become quite adapt at things like this. She was a social girl, and a popular one at that; hiding your emotions, giving off fake confidence, and so on were all part of being an idol. So while she stood there, doing nothing, she thought and absorbed all the information being thrown out. While the other children interacted, tested the waters with their "Father", and that "Father" responded, the gears in her brain were moving at overdrive. While having time to think and take in everything was nice, she also wanted to blend in. If she were to talk right now Katyusha may have gotten recognized, and it was best to just be scenery right now.

By the time the man offered snacks, she had reached conclusions, but this wasn't the time to worry about them. She had listened carefully to what he said during that call, and prepared to leave. She stood by the snacks waiting for it to be time to go. While she would've liked to know these peoples names, this likely wouldn't be a good time, just like how going over what she had figured out needed to wait. As it was, there wasn't much to do but prepare and leave.

However, she noticed some of her soon to be comrades react to the news of the Cruxi's arrival. Her face darkened somewhat. While it was perfectly fine to be excited for battle, clearly they weren't prepared to fight. She doubted any of them would last long in their current state against any boarding action. It'd be suicide, a waste of death, and she was sure that their "Father" wouldn't send them to fight without any sort of protection or chance. Some people here had blood lust off the battlefield, and that was worrying. These would be the children to keep an eye on, and while she was sure that the people who had captured her were keeping notes, it didn't hurt for her to make sure everything was order anyway.

Other than that, it was clear this situation had degraded. If the cruxi were here, that meant these people were the real deal- the military. In other words, that meant any of her worries about this being some weird rebel or separatist movement were gone. If that were the case, she would've found a way to commit suicide or cause some sort of damage before she'd be forced to betray her Motherland. But now those fears had been mostly erased.

Well, time to get a move on. Perhaps she could cheat the system a bit while they were on the run. Still, time to try and get a question in before they started running. She doubted they'd be leaving this area instantly. Things took time to move and prepare to move, after all.

"Hey, Father, how did they manage to find us? If you guys can kill children easily, I'd imagine we're pretty well hidden." She had two options, try to awkwardly talk to one of the other children, or attempt to talk to the man who had told them to ask questions. It was a long shot considering they were ready to high tail it, but might as well try.

It was pretty clear the guy wasn't her biological father, but it isn't like they could defy them. That was pretty clear from the conclusions she had made earlier. To bad reviewing them was essentially out of the question for now.

Solitary confinement Leonce could do. He had isolated himself since the death of his mother and that was much longer than a simple week. He would survive. A quick scan across the room gave him some confidence in his new comrades as well. Few of them seemed overly concerned for what was to come, though there was an air of worry in the room. Part of what was to come, Leonce figured as the doctor unveiled some snacks and drinks to which the white-haired boy took advantage of. The doctor went on describing what was to come until an interruption made it clear that things were not meant to last, at least here. They'd be abandoning their fortress which meant that a force much greater than they were able to fend off was coming. "Swell," Leonce sighed, hearing the audible hissing as the white-haired boy's metallic claws punctured the soda can that was now pooling at his feet. Leonce made his way over to the food cabinet.

"Hey," he said softly as he stepped in the pool of sticky liquid and began to root through the cabinet, pulling out a bottle of water, "I don't know what's happened between you and the Cruxi, but you're gonna have to store away those emotions. They'll get you killed out there." Leonce took a quick look at him, noticing the eyes, the sharp blue eyes that had a subtle ferocity in them, a growing rage abated by whatever self control the boy had. Leonce almost began to say something when he bit his lip. He'd talk to him about it later, just in case he was wrong. He didn't want to go around accusing his partners of being infatuated with the idea of killing Cruxi. It wasn't a healthy mindset, but it wasn't any of his business if they thought that way. Not yet, anyway.

"Hey, Doc," Leo directed at Lorenzo, his eyes quickly darting from the doctor to the other kids who had very mixed feelings about the news they had just been told, "The girl isn't exactly wrong. Some practical training might do us a world of good. There any chance we can suit up and deal with some of the Cruxi before we retreat?" Leonce looked toward the others, sure that some of them strongly disagreed with what the military girl said and he agreed on, an inkling of concern beginning to grow in the back of his mind. He'd have to depend on these people to help keep him alive soon and right now he doubted they'd consider giving him directions, let alone risk taking a bullet for him. "If possible, sir," Leonce turned and spoke to the doctor once again, "I'd be willing to volunteer to jump into a framework and test my mettle. I know a little bit about frameworks from my late mother. Maybe I'll be able to pilot one." Lorenzo had said they were absolutely expendable, so perhaps he'd be willing to throw anyone dumb enough to volunteer at the Cruxi. Worst thing that could happen would be death, something that wasn't too bad given the circumstances.

"I would also like to volunteer, I have logged many hours in framework simulators. I wish to see what these Cruxi are capable of with my own eyes."His voice, which before had been filled with emotion and excitement, now held nothing. Not anger, rage, excitement, or fear, just cold nothingness, as if he were a machine. Drake dropped the bottle, finishing his diagnostics on his queens. They were perfectly fine, which he was especially glad for right now. "Nano-queen units Nefertiti and Cleopatra, begin drone creation process and unlock restrictions on offensive constructs." Immediately, a small buzz sounded, followed by a low whirring sound as the queens produced their drones, this time they were the slightly more sturdy offensive types. He would be at full capacity in about 3 minutes. Even if Lorenzo didn't let him volunteer, he doubted they would be able to get to the escape shuttles with encountering the enemy, and he wasn't about to stand by and let other's fight this battle, not completely anyway.

Drake turned to address the other volunteer, a rather tough looking individual, who had addressed him. He stuck out his dry hand out to him. "As for you, if we are to fight together, I want you to know one thing.Firstly, that my name is Drake Dornstein, Secondly, I will never let my emotions take hold of me in battle, Finally, I will never let any comrades of mine die. My life lost most of its worth when I saw my homeworld burn, my family obliterated, and my father hospitalized in a coma, so if anyone will die on a battlefield, it should be me. I have no one left to mourn my fate."

The Spartans were the first to look in the direction of Katyusha, before looking back at Lorenzo as if expecting him not to answer. To their surprise, he did, even in his frustrated state.

He was impressed with the girl, and equally impressed by the fact at how calm she was compared to the... others. "My child... the Cruxi have technology that surpasses ours on every level. Imagine this, firing scorching hot plasma beams capable of laying down tracking beacons at the same time... Well, unfortunately for us, this is what they did to the latest transport. However, it wouldn't have been a problem... but... it would appear that the Cruxi had an idea of this facility's existence, just not its location. But now they do, and now we are leaving. Simple as that. Hopefully we can leave before they can get within range of this planet, or else I can't guarantee the safety of your lives," chugging down the rest of his wine, Lorenzo motioned for his Spartans to continue speaking for him.

"Hence why we are here," spoke the one who was presumably the one in charge of the Spartan squad. "You're expendable... but you're not entirely expendable to the point that we're letting Cruxi get you. No human deserves a death that the Cruxi can grant..." the Spartan looked down at Katyusha, "...especially a kid." It was at this point that the Spartan looked at Lorenzo, as if asking for permission to answer Leo and Drake's question for Lorenzo. After getting a subtle nod, he continued, this time shaking his head as if wondering just how stupid these kids were. "Sorry kids, but you are not ready for the Cruxi. At least, not yet. Having you go out, especially in one of our Frameworks that we built would be a large waste of future potential and resources. Of course, not you, but mostly the Framework. We still have uses for you and we can't have you throwing your lives for something stupid like revenge or some hidden agenda," finished the Spartan as he cracked his neck and stared at them all. "We've read everything about you. We know everything about you, and we honestly couldn't care less how you feel, but you are not fighting Cruxi. You are going to follow protocol and get to the Izanagi with Lorenzo and the other scientists before they arrive. If you don't like it... well, too bad. You're not going to have a choice in the matter."

"Well said," murmured Lorenzo as he threw his wine bottle towards the corner before smiling as if he just heard a masterpiece in action. Nodding towards the exit he walked out into the corridor, "Time to go, my children. We are to reach the hangar on the other side and meet up with my good friend Boris... I'm sure you'll like him. The Spartans will ensure that you don't wander off and to make sure you are all safe, they are elites after all," muttered Lorenzo as he took out his gun for safety precautions, making sure it was loaded and ready in case he himself had to use it against Cruxi.

----

Elsewhere...

"How are the evacuation procedures going?" spoke a young female officer as she continued working at the command center of the facility, he fingers running over the keyboard rapidly as they could as sweat fell from her face.

"They're still underway... but I don't know. I'm more concerned on how the Cruxi were able to send such a massive response fleet in such little time," another man was at his post, checking in on the planetary defenses before turning back towards his superior officer, "Do you think we can hold them back for everyone to escape?"

"We have to. The sake of Humanity lies within this place and all the research we have gathered. Once protocols have been taken, and Lorenzo along with all the information that the scientists have gathered are taken to him are safe, we will begin evacuation of all officers, Spartans, Omegas, and the Banshees."

"But it was clear that we had a spy in our organization! The Cruxi knew!"

"That is what the Grand Purge is for. All the scientists here made an oath and decided it to be best, and proposed it to Doctor Lorenzo. While he himself didn't like the idea, he decided it was the best in case a situation like this ever came up, for we all know despite how mad Lorenzo is, he's the only one who would never sell out Humanity no matter what."

"Yeah... I suppose that's-" Suddenly, the young man's attention was cut off as he was drawn to something else on the monitors. He choked as he read what they had said, praying that they were not true... but unfortunately they were. "Ma'am... Two of the fleets have broken off and are accelerating at an increased pace... I... I'm not sure what it is they're doing! I think they're planning to jump here right now!"

"That's impossible... n-nothing is that precise..." spoke the female officer as she raised her head.

"No... I don't think they care at all about precision, Ma'am... I believe they're just planning on getting here and keep us grounded until the final fleet can make it and clean us up. Ma'am! What do we do?!"

Without a second thought, the female commanding officer immediately slammed her fist over the intercom and spoke to the entire facility. "Attention all members! Two Cruxi fleets have are currently warping here, it is unknown what they are planning by such actions but we believe that they are planning to buy time by causing whatever chaos they can so that a third fleet can arrive safely with even greater numbers. All staff members are to quickly evacuate as of this moment with the pilots! Spartans, Omegas, and Banshees are to prepare for whatever may be coming down while the planetary defenses are to be ready this instant! The Yamaguchi along with Captain Kobono will be doing his best to prevent as many Cruxi as he can from landing on the planet, while also protecting us as we escape. Time is of the essence people! Hurry up!"

Sticking near the back of the group of children, though not so far as to draw attention, was a slim girl who's face was covered by a gray hoodie. While her hands were shoved in her pockets, her posture was not bad -- she certainly didn't look as confident and at ease as the pretty blonde girl, but she wasn't letting much weakness show either.

Under the hood, however, Phoebe chewed nervously on her lip, her eyes darting around to take in her strange and intimidating surroundings. Her heart beat hard against her chest as she wondered what she was getting into.

After entering a room and taking her seat, a man addressed them, insisting that they were his children and he their father. If she had dwelled on it, she would have certainly been at least a little unsettled, but it was the other piece of information that he gave them that held her attention.

Her family would be told that she was... dead? She'd never see her sister again?

Phoebe felt a lump in her throat and tears sting her eyes. Everything that was happening... it was overwhelming. She took her left hand out of her pocket and pulled the hood further down over her face.

She didn't want her sister to think she was gone. She wanted to protest, to speak up and tell the man how she felt. But she couldn't bring herself to open up her mouth, to have all the other kids' attention shift onto her. So she sat in silence, eyes to the ground, and fought back her tears.

It took a gunshot to snap her out of her self-pity. Her head snapped up and she gave a sharp yelp -- she was more startled than anything. It took her a moment to even realize that a gun had just gone off. She stared, piecing together the situation. The man in charged had just shot at one of his 'children.' A boy, who had been one of the more vocal kids. He seemed to be okay, she noted with relief.

And now she knew that the man was insane. While she hadn't been planning on causing a scene to begin with, she'd make sure not to do anything wrong now.

As Phoebe recovered from the shock, a green-haired girl - at least, Phoebe was pretty sure she was a girl - asked another question. Phoebe could only slightly shake her head, dumbfounded with how every other kid in the room seemed so... calm. Asking away like this was all normal, like the guy who insisted on being called Father hadn't just fired at one of them. Like they weren't just told they were dead to their families and that they were supposed to pilot high-tech military robots. The only other person that was reacting normally was a black-haired girl.

This entire situation was ridiculous. Overwhelming, scary, and ridiculous.

The Doctor answered the question, stating that the first thing they'd be doing is going into solitary confinement. Not something that exactly bothered Phoebe -- all she had done the past few months was lock herself in her room and stare at her ceiling, with the occasional visits to her sister being the only things she looked forward to.

Before much else could happen, the Doctor answered a call, and he clearly didn't like what he was told. Phoebe quickly gathered that the base they were at was about to be attacked by Cruxi. She stayed in her seat, fear coming back to grip her. Some of the other kids were suggesting that they should fight. They were eager to throw themselves at the monsters that had destroyed her home twice, and injured her and her sister. It seemed like everyone here was at least a little insane.

She didn't belong.

Slowly getting up off her chair, her hands still deep in her pockets, she made up her mind. She'd play her part, follow the people who seemed to know what they were doing, and just try to stay alive. She'd find a way to see her sister again. She just needed to push through... whatever this was.

She overheard the boy who had been shot at go on a spiel. What he said at the end caught her attention.

"...so if anyone will die on a battlefield, it should be me. I have no one left to mourn my fate."

She turned slightly towards him and the blonde boy he was speaking to. "It's not like that matters. We're all already dead anyways, as far as everyone outside this facility is concerned," she said quietly.

Stepping up to the snacks, she grabbed what looked like a granola bar with her left hand, and opened it using her teeth, keeping her scarred hand safely tucked away. Taking a small bite, she looked up at the Doctor from under her hood. "Can we--" she began, but hesitated when his eyes met hers. She looked to the side quickly before continuing. "Can we please leave now?" she murmured uncomfortably. "Before anyone else gets it stuck in their heads that fighting now is anything but a stupid idea."

No sooner had the words left her mouth than one of the Spartans in the room spoke up. The kids were to follow the armed men. Good, they were getting somewhere. The information relayed by frantic voice that came over the intercom did nothing to help Phoebe's nerves.

A Cruxi attack? Here? With coincidentally enough force to wipe out the more than average defences? Much larger than their average invasion force? Airick was not a believer of coincidences - to believe in such would have cost him his life years ago. No, there was more to it. However, there was no time to waste.

As much as he would like to believe otherwise, this facility was done - no doubt about it. The Cruxi were here in force and not even the Yamaguchi seemed capable of stopping them. That meant they had to evacuate everyone on the station with the ships that remained - including his. Strange - a week ago he would have been expecting such a thing and even be prepared for it - albeit at high costs - with his 3rd defence fleet, but here he was, stripped of rank, fleet and crew, and all of a sudden he felt much more vulnerable than before, even if the defence fleet here could tear through his former fleet with sheer firepower.

"Well?" he said, turning to Boris, beginning a quick pace towards the Izanagi, "I don't know who the crew will be, but they need to get on board the Izanagi ASAP. Have the engines started - we'll cram as much personnel as we can inside while the defence fleet holds them off and we'll warp out as soon as we've cleared the dock."

Ashlyn simply gave the two boys who asked about actually fighting the Cruxi a calm, but obviously disapproving look before turning back to the Spartans and Lorenzo, ignoring any further conversation from the two. Obviously, the way she had spoken about liking the idea of practical experience had been a bit misunderstood. While she wanted to burn the bastards for what they did to her family and home, they didn't have the experience or training right now to go toe to toe with them. She understood that and wasn't about to go rushing off into battle unless it was to save someone. Oh well, no sense in trying to correct herself now. They had bigger concerns and the Spartans pretty much covered everything she could say on the matter. In a much less...friendly manner. Was everyone in this facility that...impersonal? No wonder Humanity was losing if its higher ups were so...apathetic, towards each other.

The mood of the other children here wasn't helping much either. The quiet one who seemed as though she didn't want to speak seemed especially problematic. She was cute, to be sure, but seemed to lack confidence. Poor girl. This situation must not be something she was used too. She was especially concerned about what she said about no-one out there believing they were alive. While true, that was a rather...grim, outlook. True, that if Isabel woke, then she would be told she was dead. But she didn't have to worry about her twin sister if that happened. She was a strong one, even if she had a head full of bricks and liked getting in trouble a bit too much. To be honest though, she was more than a little hesitant about what was happening herself. If the Cruxi were attacking in force, then they knew about the facility and had prepared an assault beforehand. That meant, they potentially knew about the Frameworks and whatever they were doing here. She was beginning to regret talking to her father about military tactics and such. Sometimes, ignorance was bliss, as they say. Still, she wasn't going to let her worry show to the others. Confidence was half the battle, after all.

"Very well then, let us be off. No sense in standing around until the Cruxi are here to destroy us." She calmly replied, her earlier smirk being replaced with a calm, somewhat cold and confident smile. Judging from the announcement just made, that was going to be a very real possibility. With that, she left the room, following the Doctor and others.

Drake nodded to the Spartan and followed the others as they all seemed moved to leave. He heard the hooded girl's comment, and upon giving it some thought, couldn't help but think it true. But it didn't matter to him, what he said still stood. He would be with these people for a long time and, whether he liked it or not, they were his new family. And he be dammed if he had his family killed by the Cruxi again. His wrists gave off a ding sound as Nefertiti and Cleopatra finished their drone creations.

"Form Mk 2 plasma pistol, ammunition level full. Keep powered via Sacrifice Protocol level 3." He ordered, and the nano's quickly responded, as he soon felt the weight of the weapon in his hand. It wouldn't do much against the Cruxi, but it was the best he could do and he rather he had something to defend himself if the need arised. He checked the weapon for imperfection, and upon finding none, flipped off the safety and put it into a nano-made holster at his side.

He followed Ashlyn, remembering her name from before, noticing her posture and confidence.

"Would you like a sidearm, in case we are found in a position where we may need to defend ourselves. You seem to have some military training, juddging from your posture and ability to keep calm under pressure." Right now, every person armed is an asset they would need.

It seemed she wasn't the only one to not speak up until all of this happened; thankfully, they seemed to have enough sense about them to realize that a fight now wasn't a good idea. She didn't want to confront the others about what she perceived as being a bit hotblooded; they were team mates, and needed to reach an understanding. Right now, her life was in taters, but there was little she could do. While she didn't treat the situation casually, she could push forward and try to make the most of it as a person.

At least, that's what she told herself. She was barely holding herself together on the outside, and that was with her particularly good skills with charisma and acting as she needed.

Regardless-

"Guys, I know you want to fight, and I can understand why you'd want to make this enemy pay. They're the enemies of humanity...But we're here to train, and become strong. We're nothing in the face of this enemy right now. Lets do our best to change that with time- but this is a hopeless battle, even for the adults." She said her piece with a steady enough tone. While she was nervous on the inside, speaking to groups of people was in her element, so it calmed her down a bit and made it easier.

Anything to get her mind off of this. She had already absorbed all the information, and despite being a strong willed girl, doing nothing can eat away at you right before combat. She wasn't sure if it was excitement or fear, but she needed to do something else before it got the best of her.

Katyusha turned toward the girl who was reaching for a granola bar and smiled warmly in approval of what she had said. However, a little bit of worry showed itself in the smile. She was bottling her emotions in, but this situation was stressful.

"I'm Katyusha. What's your name?" Getting at least one persons name was worth the likely awkward reaction. At the very least, it would get their minds off the current situation while the adults started making decisions. There was little they could do right now but wait the few seconds for everyone to be ready to leave the room.

The Spartan in command looked down at Zan as he shakily saluted. Under his helmet, the man couldn't help but smile before answering. "Sorry, but it's best for you to stay with the group. While I appreciate the courage... technically your life is more important than mine as of this moment," he said as he tried to speak in a nicer voice from before. "We know that most of you kids would rather help than be told what to do, but this isn't the time to argue. We need you alive, safe, and to follow us, alright kid?" spoke the Spartan before patting Zan on the shoulder with respect.

While the Spartan in command was talking to Zan, and as Drake made the plasma pistols, one of the younger Spartan's laughed, before promptly moving faster than anyone could react and crushed Drake's gun within his bare hand... along with his wrist cuffs. He made sure to destroy the queens through the visual scanners from his helmet, and everything else nanobot related that the kid could produce. "Sorry kid, but lemme be blunt with ya, that ain't going to do shit to the Cruxi besides tickle them. We already tried those things."

"Hey! You're not to do anything to my children's toys! Bah! I, as his father, am to decide how to discipline them!" spoke Lorenzo as he readied himself with his own gun.

"Sorry, boss, but even if they're under your care, they need discipline and learn that he isn't great if one of us can destroy it that easily. If he really wants to defend himself, I suggest he, and the other kids, use an actual gun," mumbled the Spartan as he opened up his pack and quickly handed out guns similar to the one that Lorenzo has. "Least now you kids wont be completely useless."

"Stop taunting my children... you are to protect them. Anyway we best hurry before-"

It was then that a massive shock wave shook the facility, before the female officer came over the intercom once more...
..."They... are here," she spoke as she stared at the pulsating waves right as the two large Cruxi Destroyers warped right into the sight of the facility.

One was heading head first into the side of the Yamaguchi due to the jump, while the other was on a nosedive straight into one of planetary defenses. "Shoot down the Destroyer closest to the Hades Cannons! We cannot let it land at all! Yamaguchi!"

"Don't worry, we will handle this bastard!" stated Captain Kobono from the Yamaguchi as he began firing all missiles and artillery at the Destroyer incoming to ram him. It was then that the underside of the Yamaguchi began to open up, releasing thousands of fighters and Frameworks of its own to combat the Destroyer-class ship that was incoming. Despite the sheer numbers, and the fact that Hades Cannons began to cleave through the Destroyer's shields and lay heavy damage upon the ship... thousands upon thousands of drones, pods, missiles, fighters, and 'things' began to fire and launch from the holes of the alien ship and towards both the facility and the artillery defenses.

"All Spartans, Banshee Queens, and Omegas, the Destroyer has begun laying siege with ground troop pods, take them out before they can reach the ground with anti-air weaponry! Remember your priorities are to be in this order: Sovereigns, Harbingers, Hunters, Grinders, and then whatever else you can take down from there!"

"Ma'am... There's too many for us to pick out..." spoke the male officer as he began to swiftly type out security A.I. Defenses that were shooting down the pods despite the thousands of them that were dropping down, now from both ships.

"I know... but we have to do what we can..."
"Well... Fuck," stated Lorenzo as he gritted his teeth and as the sounds of rockets, explosion, and massive cannon rounds could be heard. "Well... we need to get to the Izanagi right now. Matilda, awaken." Lorenzo snapped his fingers and in doing so a beautiful female A.I. with long aquatic hair appeared around him.

"What is it, Doctor? Ah, are these the new children I have heard you speak so much about? They all look rather... interesting."

"Yes, that is them. Matilda, meet the children. Children, meet my personal A.I. Matilda. Matilda, we need to get out of here now and to the Izanagi where Boris and Airick should be at."

"Shouldn't be a problem sir. However... Cruxi forces have made things quite difficult. From what I can tell, the Yamaguchi is suffering heavy casualties and the Hades cannons are nearing critical levels. Not only that, sir, but there are reports of Cruxi attempting to penetrate the facility's wall from the Western Wing. The Hades Cannon on the East is reported to have a Cruxi destroyer inbound as well..."

"Don't care, Matilda. We need to get the children to safety as soon as possible by meeting up with Airick and Boris. Find the safest route now," grunted the Doctor with frustration.

"Will do sir."
Boris paused a bit before looking at Airick. He looked towards both sides, before sighing loudly... and before deciding to sip some more from his flask. There was a long... long hesitation for Boris to actually... well, do anything, that I'm sure Airick took great notice of by now. Swirling his fingers around, and listening to the chaos outside, Boris tried his best to come up with a good solid reason on how to break it down to the Admiral.

"Okay... Bad news..." he finally said. "So... you see... this Izanagi is just in-development since... well... uh..." he coughed a bit before slowly clapping his hands and looking at the ceiling.

"...Well...you see... it doesn't particularly... well, have a strong enough power source to well... power it and all of its extra stuff..." he finally said as he looked at Airick.

"Look! We were supposed to have a strong enough power source for this Izanagi done for you by the end of next week since your crew were Lorenzo's! Besides, I'm not a engineer! I'm a man of war!"

"U wot m8"

The Izanagi was, for all intents and purposes, incomplete. Under construction with no way to finish it now. If there was one thing Admiral Skye would give the Cruxi credit for, it would be that they had impeccable timing. Truth be told, he had figured it was news of that sort when Boris hesitated to reply. As far as the Admiral was concerned, the Izanagi was now an incomplete ship nowhere near combat or space readiness.

Of all the times he could have been told that the Izanagi wasn't ready it had to be now? With the Cruxi fleet coming in? Perfect timing.

"...then it can't he helped - we'll have to abandon her with the rest of the planet." Airick said. Did he regret it? Of course he did. But did he have the time to show it? Considering that the Cruxi were here in full force with full intent to kill everyone inside - probably not. "We'll have to find or commandeer another ship. There's no use in an incomplete ship now."

It was brief, far too brief for Demeter to really notice. The pang in their gut, the tiny implication that they might fear the possibility of facing the Cruxi. But it was gone faster than it appeared.

Demeter did not care about the gun being broken, it was expected in this situation, entirely predictable with the sort of attitudes displayed in their first few moments in this place. It was all irrelevant to the matter at hand - survival and getting away from the Cruxi. Their mind worked towards figuring out how to hasten this process, but only came to one conclusion. Control was out of their hands, so it was time to urge the hands of another into action.

"Sir," Demeter focused on Lorenzo, the instant of fear not impacting them in the slightest. "What is our next course of action?" They said, just as a means of getting them back on track. There was probably some merit to Lorenzo, his intelligence maybe, but he was easily distracted by the inane it seems. These Spartants were not helping either. "Is there a ship we should be making our way towards?"

"Hah," Ashlyn chuckled at Drakes comment about her 'military' training. "You'd be wrong, friend. I have no training whatsoever, other than what I taught myself after the Cruxi attacked my home or what me and my dad stayed up at night talking about befor..." She went quiet and turned her head away from Drake. "Apologies." She started again, taking a much more serious tone. "Now isn't the time for talking about such things with the Cruxi at our necks, friend. Thank you for the offer though, perhaps once we get out of here we can talk more at length, hmm, Comrade? I would love to get to know all of you better since we will be working together." With that, she was about to grab the gun. However, before she could one of the Spartans completely crushed the nano-made machines.

She almost smacked the spartan over the head even though she knew that would have been a very bad idea. However, before she could make any rebuttals, Lorenzo spouted more nonsense about 'his' children and disciplining them. After a brief conversation, the spartan did hand out a few guns, at least. Thank whatever gods that may be. Having a piece in her hands was very calming and reassuring. She quickly inspected it, appearing very satisfied with its construction and abilities. Before she could inspect it further though, a massive shockwave rocked the facility. There was only one thing that would probably be....

..."They... are here," A woman over the intercom spoke. Well, at least the waiting was over with.

It was then that Lorenzo summoned an AI. Matilda, was her name apparently. Not that introductions were really that important right now. That would come later after they all made it out of here alive. Possibly after killing a few Cruxi along the way, or at least watching them get killed. "While a destination is good to have in mind, I simply wish to get moving. Sitting here talking is going to make us sitting ducks for the Cruxi." She said to Demeter, and giving a glance to Lorenzo for direction. Something she really didn't like, but she didn't have much choice. She had no idea where anything was on this base.

Drake did little more the click his tongue at the Spartan's actions. Without the queens, the nanos fellnto the ground, useless.

Much like his left hand.

Due to how he structured his prosthetics, the space where Cleopatra was housed also contained the artifical nerve clusters that allowed him to move his fingers on his left hand. The Spartan's hasty actions had left him effectively crippled, and in great pain, as he had yet to nullify the pain receptivity of said clusters. Drake say anything, instead just accepting one of the specialized firearms that were being given out. He held it in his right hand, letting his left fall limply to the side.

"You could have fooled me," Drake replied to Ashlyn with a bit of strain to his voice. "And I agree we should get moving while we still have a chance. Longer we stay here, the greater the chance of the Cruxi infiltrating the base before we can even reach are destination."

". . .Actions, not words. Remember that. . ."

Her father's voice resonating within her mind. Her true father that is. Not this psychopath. She couldn't help but feel intensely disturbed and sickened by the way Dr. Lorenzo acted thus far. His persona closely resembling that of a child in her mind. The thought of considering him to be her new 'father' made her want to vomit. The acidic taste of bile rising in the back of her throat every time her mind revisited the idea. But, what choice did she have? For now, she would reluctantly play his game.

Regardless if he was in charge and made the rules or not, the good Dr. Lorenzo said himself that all of them were considered MIA. If anything were to happen to the other pilot candidates, it would be end of things. However, in Esther's mind, it could work both ways. If things didn't pan out, she would go down fighting and take down the neurotic scientist with her. His corpse would be forgotten alongside hers. She closed her eyes and shook her head, now was not wasn't the time to start planning the death of someone she felt uncomfortable around and didn't like. Maybe the good doctor was something like her father, damaged and broken. Maybe it wasn't his fault for the way he currently is. Inevitably, she would be in the good doctor's care and tutelage and she owed him that respect. She would cooperate, if albeit with a sense of apprehension and caution. In return, she expected to get what she wanted out of all this.

"The greatest minds in all of military leadership can sit around all they want. Free to discuss and plan however much they want at their big meetings and big tables. But in the end, it all comes down to execution. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Sometimes it's more important to take action than to just sit around, waiting to be told what to do. Actions, not words. Remember that, Esse."

Her heart grew heavy and sank at the idea that her father would be receiving a message of her MIA status. How would he take that news while undergoing mental treatment? For his daughter to enlist into the military at such a young age, go to the frontlines of battle, only to go missing? She hoped he was well and in good health. She was determined to complete this program successfully and return to her real father in the future. Returning from her thoughts, she caught herself absently staring at the ground. Blinking, she looked up as a Spartan handed her a weapon.

Taking firm grasp of her given weapon, she looked it over to examine it. Pointing the muzzle of the weapon in a safe direction, she presented the weapon and looked down its sights. Relaxing her stance and bringing the weapon in closer, she made sure the weapon was on 'Safe' and kept her finger off of its trigger. Ejecting the magazine, she took quick note of how much ammunition it held. Reinserting the magazine, she racked the slide back and chambered a round. Pulling back on the slide slightly, she did a press check to ensure that the round had indeed chambered. Satisfied with her inspection of the given weapon, she kept positive control of it at her side. It brought her a sense of comfort. It was an insurance. It may not have been a significant enough weapon to go toe-to-toe with the Cruxi in a direct confrontation, but at least it gave her a slight fighting chance.

Tired of waiting for the 'adults' to come up with a solution and plan for evacuation, she sighed. Exasperated with the whole situation, she looked at her fellow future pilots and made a decision. She would skyline herself for what she was about to do. She would probably be punished severely for her choices, but in this predicament she didn't quite care. They were being attacked and no one seemed to have any clear idea what to do. Some of her future comrades content with just looking to others for guidance instead of taking matters into their own hands. They were all essentially sitting around with their thumbs up their asses. Not her.

Clearing her throat, she decided to finally speak up after remaining silent. Done with observing everyone in the background, under the radar.
"Excuse me, gentleman." she addressed the Spartans blocking the entrance to the room they were in.
With that, she muscled her way past the Spartans and slipped out of the door.
Looking back at the rest of them, she continued.
"By your leave."
Turning away from them, she quickly took in her environment. Soldiers were running in one direction, possibly towards the 'fight'. If their goal was evacuation and safety, then they would want to move in the opposite direction. Her thoughts were confirmed when she saw other staff and scientists running towards what only common sense could say was the right way to sanctuary. Looking over her shoulder, she projected her voice as loudly and clearly as she could so that they could hear her.
"If any of you want to take matters into your own hands and are tired of sitting around waiting, then follow me. I'll lead the way. We can think and figure out a plan as we move. To remain stationary right now means certain death."
With weapon in hand, she took off running in the direction of the other non-combatant personnel.

Actions, not words.

Leonce stared at the boy that identified himself as Drake, leaving his hand hanging, unsure if he wanted to shake the boy's hand before everyone else. The blank look on the doctors face, followed by the comment by the spartan made it abundantly clear that this wasn't a moment of camaraderie. He had just successfully made an ass of himself. It would've been a bit better if Drake hadn't volunteered, at least then he would've been the only one to look like a fool and Drake didn't seem to quite understand why he would've wanted to volunteer in the first place. If given the option, Leonce would rather call it quits before everyone was forced to rely on him as he was on them once they began training, but it seemed they wouldn't be given an option to die just yet.

Things seemed to fall apart quickly after that. The cruxi were dropping down and already engaging. A spartan had destroyed Drake's left hand. Every second had become just a sliver more helpless than the last, more so when guns began to be handed out among the children. Drake had only the option to let it hand by his side, the expression on his face giving Leonce the impression that he was still in pain. "Leonce," He said quietly, putting a hand on Drake's shoulder, "And sorry for making us look like asses earlier." Leonce reached past him and grabbed a gun for himself, taking a moment to get a feel for the weight and take a glance down the sights while keeping it aimed at the floor, his finger pointed straight; trigger discipline still deeply embedded in his mind.

"Excuse me, gentlemen." He heard from the cluster of Spartans, seeing one of the pilots squirm her way through the mass of muscle and armour that seperated them from the chaos and their escape, a smirk building at the corner of his lips. 'At least someone was willing to get things moving,' he thought with a chuckle before grabbing onto Drake's right arm. "It'd be rude to let her go all on her lonesome. Let's go too. I'll get your back." Leonce flashed a grin at him and lurched after the girl, diving past a spartan who had turned to look at the escaping girl, Leonce hoping that Drake would tag along. He seemed to want to see home action and Leonce mostly wanted to see how this girl's plan would work out. Leonce had always been quick when he fought back home, his long lithe limbs making it easier to close a gap than most people and in a moment he had caught up with the girl, his rifle cradled tightly in his arms as he ran. "Finally, someone that makes sense," Leonce said between quick, sharp breaths, "I like your plan, girlie. Just don't be surprised if you, and me at this rate, get in some deep shit for this."

Phoebe turned her head quickly when she realized she was being addressed, a surprised "Eh?" escaping her lips. The girl introduced herself as Katyusha, and asked for Phoebe's name. All Phoebe could do was stare out at her from under her hood, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape, on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Why? Why was someone trying to talk to her? She had just made it abundantly clear that she wasn't someone to talk to by being all negative.

So why was this girl smiling so comfortingly at her and asking for her name?

Phoebe felt her heart-rate pick up and her face go beet red. She stammered something incomprehensible, her eyes looking everywhere but at Katyusha. She managed to say 'sorry,' turning away quickly to the boy who had just gotten his "toys" destroyed. She observed the exchange without much interest, her thoughts focused on how stupid she was and on Katyusha. Phoebe realized that she recognized the girl -- an actress and a singer, if her memory served her right.

She had wanted to answer Katyusha properly and talk to her -- she still did. Why did she have to be so... like herself?

As she continued to fidget nervously, lost in her thoughts, a Spartan held a pistol out to her. She simply stared at it,entirely unsure of what to do. He lost his patience relatively quickly, and grabbed her left hand, causing her to drop her snack. He placed the pistol in her palm and continued on his way. She looked at it apprehensively, having never held a gun before in her life. Around her, many of the other children seemed completely comfortable with guns in their hands, easily checking and prepping them as though it were the most natural thing in the world.

And she just stood there, keeping her finger as far away from the trigger as possible, terrified that she'd shoot someone by accident.

The girl glanced over at Katyusha. She really wanted to talk to her. Maybe she could be a little selfish, just this once...

Her cheeks went red again, and she bit her lip nervously, in anticipation of what she was about to do. She stepped over to Katyusha to face her, but kept her eyes off to the side.

"I, um, I'm... My n-name's Phoebe..." she managed to say quietly. She wilted a bit, scared that the other girl would simply ignore her, on account of how pathetic she'd been.

It was then that another girl pushed through a pair of men blocking the door, before urging the children to follow her. While she sort of seemed like she knew what she was doing, Phoebe thought it might've been a better idea to stick with the trained soldiers.

Her eyes darted back towards Katyusha before shifting to the ground just as quickly. She fought back tears for what felt like the dozenth time that day. Too much was happening too quickly, and it all just left her confused, scared, and hesitant. Her left arm hung shakily at her side, her hand loosely wrapped around the pistol.

Things had gone to hell, the Cruxi were attacking this supposedly secure location and the fact that the adults were worried probably meant that they weren't going to be pushed back. In an attempt to remain in control and not just burst out in fear and panic, Kaila considered what her father would say to her in the situation.

"Remember Kaila," the voice of her deceased biological father said, "When things are going to hell, calm is all you can be, so you might as well be so." Her father had gone on to explain that that was quoted from the famous 17th Century BC Roman Tactician Fabio when he was an advisor to Emperor Lu Bu of the Moon Empire during his wars against God-King Washington of the Ming Imperium and Archduke Napoleon of the Third Gallian Directorate.

Seeing some of her fellow future pilots run off, Kaila considered insisting on them staying instead of taking the initiative - what they were doing was reckless and beyond stupid. Even if they even got out of this very room, would they even have an idea of where to go? Where they were? Where they needed to go? Where the emergency exits were? Then, as people actually followed the idiot out - god knew why the SPARTANS were letting them through - she heard the girl make some speech about initiative and taking matters into their own hands. She would have said something right then and there, but now was not the time for an argument or debate.

And with that, she turned her back on the two people who were ready to abandon Lorenzo and turned to Katyusha and Phoebe, her body language making it clear she was done considering talking to the group in general. Looking at Phoebe, she placed her hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry," she assured her, "Everything will be alright. I'm sure of it."

Letting out a deep sigh, she turned and gave Katyusha a tired smile. "Hey Katyusha," she said with a tired smile, "Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi earlier. Could you hand me a Choco bar?" she asked, speaking as if they were old friends who knew each other. Why? Because they were.
