I'm not sure how long I expect to be out, but I have an idea - I can just lay up in the nurse's office on one of the beds (if there is one) and rest up until real me can get the energy to post.

Sounds like a plan.

On a related note: Did Rose say that she would be gone for a while?

She did say she was "busy" but without any specific excuse for being offline or estimate of when she'd be posting regularly again. I'll contact her.

So... The new plan is that Euclid the Character is going to rest on a bed in the nurse;s office, right? Can I, for the sake of easy writing, say that he fell asleep in one of my posts? Something like Leon turning to Euclid to ask him a question, upon which the former notices that the latter has fallen asleep. Of course, this still leaves the problem of Rose (and possibly Leon) likely not wanting to leave Euclid behind...

Hmm... Rose will probably be okay with leaving him behind. Her reasoning be that she would be sure that he'd be fine here by himself. She considers the Academy the safest place. Don't know about Leon though.

Yeah that's fine.

I'm currently ill right now (it's since yesterday, actually), so I might not be able to post a casual-standard post today.

Casual-standard is really only one paragraph, you know. Basically everyone here's been posting Advanced-standard paragraphs just because.

Not that I have any problem with people writing more than required; just saying its not an issue if people's post lengths decrease a bit at the moment.

Then what about those posts in advanced section that goes ten pages or even more? How would you call it? I guess standards have inflated, haven't they?

They really have. It all has to do with stereotypes, actually. Because truthfully, having played in Advanced, most posts really aren't the epic length that many people assume Advanced consists of. In fact, the only real site-set standards for Advanced are "at least two paragraphs", whereas Casual is "at least one paragraph", and Free is, as we all know, without any standards.

So really, most of Casual fits right in with Advanced, but they don't go in, because they assume Advanced is a lot stricter than it actually is. That's pretty much the only reason why "High Casual" exists, actually, since most High Casual standards are really just the same standards as Advanced, but people don't realize that, because the stereotypes about Advanced are far more perpetuated than the 'canon' standards.

In fact, all this is pretty much why Casual is the biggest and most-used roleplaying section on the entire site. Advanced is usually perceived as being full of lengthy posts and Grammar Nazis, while Free is stereotyped as being completely chatspeak and kids who can't read (and I've played in Free as well; there are actually some pretty good RP's if you look a little more closely). Therefore, since Casual is the site's "middle ground", the majority of RPers will go there just because the only alternatives are thought of as the extreme ends of the spectrum, thus inflating Casual far beyond what it was meant to be so that it has the widest range of post lengths between RP's for the entire section.

But hey, that's not all bad. Being someone who truthfully hardly cares about post lengths at all and willing to play in any section, I at least know where to best advertise my own RP's. ;)

Actually, before the site went down I took a peak at several Advanced RPs just cause, and they were indeed 5 paragraphs or more.

I'm not saying they don't exist. Because they do. The extremes on both ends of the spectrum do have to reside in Free/Advanced because there's no where else for them to go.

But, not all of Advanced is like that. In fact, the majority of it isn't. They say stereotypes are rooted in truth, after all, and that is true in this case - but that doesn't mean all of Advanced falls into that stereotype. You can make two-paragraph posts in Advanced, and unless the GM has specifically set higher standards for his/her RP alone, that's perfectly fine.

My condition's better fortunately, haven't been hiccuping for the last six hours or so (FYI my hiccups go at about 2-3 hours, and once it took 6 hours, and it is a sign of stomach problems), so I did manage to post that. And two good lines today from Nautilus's compatriot.

Most ones I saw where...

Uhh...

Well like, 12 Paragraphs per post.

Now, after thinking about it for a bit, maybe it's just kind of a cycle. Longer posts = More to react to = Longer posts.

That's really the reason why all roleplay posts reach the length they do, unless the GM is pushing for more/less.

'Tis the reason why this RP's posts are almost all Advanced-level. I never told anyone they had to post that much; it just sort of evolved that way.

And I've been in plenty of Advanced RP's that didn't have Godzilla-size standards. Did you try looking past the first page or so? The beginnings to every roleplay usually have longer posts to start with, since everyone needs to get their intros in. Things tend to mellow out once the story gets going. How far did you look?

Couple pages in, although, and I don't want to be offensive, but they did seem to be artificially lengthened, like including pointless details such as how the counter the character walked by to get to a car gleamed with the sun as it slowly rose in the morning light, wile the rain reflected whatever, the characters mellow face. Something like that. I still feel my posts aren't long enough, but I do not want to artificially lengthen them. Please, if you want more or less of me, just ask.

Again, I never did, nor will I probably ever, ask. *shrugs* Nearly everyone's posts are well into Advanced standards already. Plus, like I said, I hardly care about post lengths to begin with and will join a roleplay from really any section. I just place my own in Casual because they get the biggest audience that way.

So, some of the characters are learning it very quickly, or I must've read the posts with 5-watt eyes at 3a.m local time.

Yep, it's totally safe to leave Euclid behind. What could possibly go wrong? It's not like there's actually an insane murderer running around the floating island/school like Leon thinks, right?

Oh yeah, there's the Godmodder. Who's likely very pissed after almost being killed by a falling rock. And who has proven himself to be a killer in the past, quite possibly the very recent past. So... whoopsie?
