@Lost Cause

I don't see what the problem is in the Nation vs Nation format.

We're part of some elite force and fight against whatever nation attacks us. Think Ace Combat, just replace it with mechs. (The setting, that is.)

Well, if this is like SRW, then all the mecha just kind of exist in one setting to start with. It's just sort of mass canon-welding with some OC's, really. ^^;

With that being said, for a mecha crossover it'd probably be kind of hard to justify every character being on the same national defense team, canon or otherwise. ^^;

Like I've said before,I prefer the SRW format it's much more easier to chuck disbelief into oblivion and enjoy a good but absurd premise such s that when the story doesn't even care to explain why it's happening, and focus on how cool it's.

I find little enjoyment in watching big explosions- The enjoyment is learning how those explosions came to be and what caused them to exist in the first place.

How can you expect any logic from a story were, for example, Eva 01, Mazinger Z, Gurren Laggan and any other truly super robots could be fighting side by side? It's completely pointless when you have so many godlike characters around too try and preserve any sense of sanity.

That's my point, I don't want that- I want story with an addition of cool mech combat- I don't want Gurren Lagann. (Good show; Bad roleplay though) Plus, I never spoke of logic, I spoke in a metaphorical manner which would correspond to the fact that I desire story rather than battle; if you want battle then go to the Arena and have a Mecha fight-out.

Handwave the story, dive straight into crossover mecha punchups.

Maybe finally I'll be able to play Demonbane without having to feel like a shitter about it.

@Dead Cruiser@Boomrocker I guess this makes us three, then. Plus,@KaiserAuto I've never said about not having a story to play, truth be told, the idea that we support is perhaps the only way to manage a crossover like this, see? There's a guy who wanna play freaking Demonbane here. The very point of having things that defy all known (probably several other unknown as of yet) laws of physics just by existing is to play by the rule of cool and nothing else more. But this doesn't mean we can have a plot like, "The villains of shows X, Y and Z have united their forces to finally put an end to the heroes. How will they survive that?" See?

Anyway, as long as you all remember Gurren Laggan is mine we're good, ok?

Also, were's you OP @Lost Cause?

For the people talking about how SRW is all about the explosions and whatnot and they're all just a big clusterfuck of a crossover, you're kinda sorta right in that it's the explosions and crossover factor what really makes the games fun, but do consider that the games do, generally speaking, take painstaking care to properly integrate every series they use along with their originals into a coherent whole. Just something to consider. Also, I'm interested but potentially very busy, so we'll see what happens there.

Well, SRW is actually fairly complex to do right. I'm not saying it's some deep writing or anything stupid like that, but a lot of work and thought goes into meshing all of the unrelated shows into an actually coherent whole and the writing team gets really creative with it. Your best bet, IMO, is picking out series you know and figuring out a way to integrate them all into a single setting, while adding a couple original elements that let players do their own thing if they haven't seen the shows. While this means people can't just bring in whatever series they want and some might not like it, it gives you more control over the game world and plot and keeps things neater.

Actually, taking into consideration my lack of GM experience and the narrowness of my familiarity with the genre, I have decided that it's probably for the best if I don't push ahead with this idea.

Sorry. >.<

Well, that's a shame, but better to drop it now than carry on with a game you wouldn't know what to do with I suppose. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
