@Knight of Doom - He seems pretty cool, though of course the assassin part throughout makes me a bit cautious... and for that reason and just because it leaves tons of questions unanswered, I'd like his back story expanded. I'd like to know why his father killing his mother would've ever pleased the king... like, what reason was that for? Did he not love his wife, even a little?

More questions are things like, what was his life as an assassin? Did he grow to resent his position? I'd image so... someone who hates hurting others, being forced to kill? With being such a master in stealth, why didn't he just run away? I mean, if I were him, I'd almost hate the king and my own father for forcing me to kill people... even if there was a reason to advance the crown - if fact I'd be against killing anyone that helped the royal family in spite and run away at any chance I got.

Third, what trial did he suffer through to get Jergal's blessings? As it stands... there's really nothing speaking for this like the others. So please work on the back story some more. ^.^

@Irisity - That would work. It just seems she is less of a bandit herself and more of a gypsy, because she's really not that mean or greedy (maybe bitter though).

I'm getting a worrying vibe from some of the statements by the GM.


... Okay, I'll be honest, I giggled.

I do, however, disagree. It's one thing to railroad, it's another to have an idea of how you want the world and the RP to go and ask for characters along that line. Like, obviously a lot of worldbuilding went into this, so characters consistent with the world should be expected. And as for the whole 'no evil guys', thing, well, I sort of agree with that.

I've played a lot of Tabletop RPGs, and you know who I sort of loathe? That Guy. That Guy who looks at a party of a Lawful Good Paladin, a True Neutral Druid, a Chaotic Good Bard and a Neutral Good Wizard (or other assorted Good Guys) and just HAS to play a goddamn Chaotic Evil Sorcerer. That Guy who tricks, steals, and backstabs the party at every step, and explains it with 'lol I'm evil'. That Guy who murders quest NPCs because he doesn't like them. That Guy who squeals furiously when the other PCs get angry and threaten to dump his character's psychotic backstabbing ass because he still wants to play the game, so everyone else has to think up reasons why their Good Guys still cart this tool around. The Morrigan, the Belkar Bitterleaf, the Shane Walsh.

And you know what? I'm actually pretty happy to have finally found an RP that takes a hardline stance against That Guy.

Everyone stop right now please. @clanjos is not a part of this role-play, has never attempted a character sheet, and is honestly breaking guild rules. So please don't bother with arguing again him. I'll reference the rule later... when the guild isn't having dozens of server errors (for me anyways, also I'll be on hold til it's fixed).

RP Thread Conduct – If you are not a participant in an RP or an interest check, but are merely there to critique the thread, you should probably not be posting. Trolling threads is one of those things that the mods come down heavily and we are interpreting that liberally because actions that discourage people from posting interest checks run contrary to the entire point of the Guild – it should be a safe place for all roleplayers.

I've been reading through the loads of posts I've been missing, and I've noticed something. A lot of characters who were pretty jerky (in the sense that they had motivations that motivations that weren't wholly altruistic) were rejected for being jerky and could cause issues in the party. I mean, I can understand not wanting party conflict, but the clear differences between characters is one of the big things that keeps a party's interesting nature alive.

Ehhh... and that gloryhound stuff doesn't really fit either. If this were a role-play where death was possible, he'd probably endanger himself or everyone.

What does this mean? Is character death something we're going to not experience?

I'm sure I'm reading this wrong, but it seems like we're going to mainly be playing an RP where all the characters are friends all the time and never go into any danger that would actually endanger our characters.

@Raijinslayer - A few things that need to be tweaked, though I do like the character a lot. The first thing that came to mind is that he is an expert or master in several areas (magic, fighting, and endurance) but really only has one flaw of being unable to deal with long-ranged individuals. I'd like to see something else, if you don't mind to even that out.

Second is a couple of his spells. The time one wouldn't exist... I understand it's not very powerful, but there's really no such thing as time magic when it comes to Weave Magic. Even in small doses, it's far too powerful. Second is the wall of earth... it'd need to be around 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall - anything bigger is normally beyond Weave Magic.

His ability to not suffer cuts is a bit too much as well, sadly. Maybe his skin can be as tough as an orge's? Or a bit more so? They have tough hides too and cuts and arrows don't sink in nearly as much - but it doesn't make them immune. Also his quick analyze power - as long as we can agree that even if he knows a weakness, he may not be able to physically himself take advantage of said weakness, then it's fine.

The last bit is something in his back story. Jergal would've likely waited until just after he spared the Griffin's life, as it truly shows determination and resolve of his heart against such terrible emotions as anger and revenge. So he might have gotten a few wounds to lick, haha... but he could've survived, especially since Griffins are gentle and it would only want him to go away and likely wasn't attacking to kill.

@lydynOkay, all of those makes sense and are doable. As for weaknesses, I also put that he has bad agility, and hinted at him being far-sighted(or is it near sighted). Basically, after a certain distance, things get real fuzzy for him. Probably should've made that a little bit more clear.

*Scratches head* I'm not sure where you assumed we'd all be friends and all jolly and stuff. I picked characters that were types to fit into heroic traits and this adventure specifically. There are more than a few characters that are bitter, distant, apathetic, or depressive - setting for a few issues between them personally. However, yes... they need to work together. I needed to strive away from characters that would just tear the group together. They'll have enough trouble coming from outside forces that they need to work together.

And yes, it seems you didn't take the time to read everything I've written in the OOC. I said no characters would die unless you came to me about it. That's just how this role-play is set up... but that doesn't mean they won't be in actual danger. Just because you, as a player, understands there's no death does not mean a character cannot be pushed to feel threatened by death. You shouldn't let OOC knowledge affect IC actions. I hope that answers your questions. ^.^
