I pick Cleveland; more opportunity for raw, unbridled, hardcore CONVERSATION that way. :V

And not just because I have little experience with combat... then again, most RPs I've been in always seem to fizzle out before making it to the combat stage.

Also, you may not want to count my vote since I still haven't technically joined. I am indecisive like that. But the good news is, if I do, half the stuff I need is already written out, so.

Now if it is NYC would it be inside the city or on the outskirts? By outskirts I mean like still lots of zombies and such but less of an impossible number.

@Pripovednik

yes you can since only one other person has a sniper rifle. I will also add in a gun shop raid sometime in the story so everyone keep that in mind xD

Do you want me to make a small map for looting missions and maybe make it a bit larger to show the survivor camp or something? I do it all the time in my free moments so it wont take too long.

Scoped. Mosin. Nagant.
-Being shot by a blind guy.

*applauds choice of uber-custom Remington 700*
-Before that, Marine-snipers used the Winchester Model 70, the rifle used by Carlos in his infamous "through the scope" headshot.

Also, I vote for Cleveland, Ohio.

Also, I'm probably going to hold-in what happened to my first cat and the story of how I learned headshots (and blunt-force) aren't nearly as instant as the movies sell it to be. (he nearly lived to be 21... was planning on sharing a beer with him)
-Yes, even if a chunk of brain gets ejected out the nose. Which kinda makes you wonder how if 90% of the time headshots kill from blood-loss, if it'll ever reliably work against zombies (especially in the case of pistol-rounds such as the .380 ACP).
^That lil tidbit makes zombies, IMO when coupled with the difficulty of making a headshot in the first place, a lot scarier.

Another story was of how a hunter dumped an entire shotgun-tube of 20-gauge 7/8 oz slugs into a deer's head at point blank... still wasn't quite dead enough for field-dressing. It also slid quite a distance down the cliff (the idea was to completely stop it from moving so it would not slide into the rivine).

And then there's the Thompson-LeGarde tests, which were pretty much best-case pistol-headshot scenarios... rather disappointing performance from the .500 Express.

I'd just like to point out that Zombies, logically, would be just as subsceptible to injury as anyone else. They'd still have bones to be broken. You want my opinion, best thing to do when faced with a horde would be to spray machine gun fire below the belt, to cripple as many as possible. They'd drag themselves along, sure, but I think we can all agree they'd be considerably less dangerous.

Or you could just ascend a particularly steep staircase, that might also work.

Yeah, shattered pelvis is pretty much the go-to way of simplifying the matter.
-And in those cases, yes, even a .380 ACP will do.

I've always liked a baseball bat for close combat with zombies. Some like swords but forget that swords can get stuck in a body which either deprives you of your weapon or slows your attacks down while you free it

Mosin Nagant, weighs about ten pounds.

A ten pound, five foot long baseball-bat that's also a gun and can stab people.

As a person who loves guns I'd hate to use any gun as a club because it could effect the balance and mechanics of the weapon

Oh and as for an alloy bat as a weapon to crack skulls I'd fill it with expansion foam to reinforce it

Judging by the skull and K-pot shaped dings in my '43 Mosin's stock, I don't think cracking it over somebody's skull would hurt it any more than what it's already seen.

Although it seems the bayonet had to be replaced sometime during 1944 in the Ukraine.
-Presumably because it got bent-over and stuck inside something squishy.

Some rifles are built to withstand hand to hand combat, but only if done correctly. Using said weapons like a bat will likely damage the components and the frame. Now a spread two handed control ed swing can be both deadly and may not cause as much damage to the firearm. That is if done correctly. In simple terms Pivoting the rifle so the stock gets an up close swing is the best approach for using a long fire arm for hand to hand combat.

Now I am not the expert to use as a source for information but I have confidence in the areas I am familiar with. This does not mean I am always right in these areas but my lacking social life has made it so I had time to do more research then I am proud to admit.

Usually there's the butt-swing to the chin, reverse-draw on the forehead, and pile-driving it on the poor SOB you've just floored.

Center of balance is usually just in front of the bolt, so baseball-swinging that part of the rifle would do the most damage, and the barrel can usually be considered a 3/4" solid chunk of re-bar with a tiny lil hole running down it. Axe-handles aren't even built that sturdy..
-Biggest mistake a person can make baseball-swinging is to strike with the very end of the buttstock, putting insane stress on the semi-pistol grip, usually breaking it there. (in which case, you've still got a club, no sense to stop swinging now; it's all you've got left)

All that said, getting swiped upside the head with the muzzle likely isn't going to be pleasant, either. Especially with something sharp, pointy, and heavy lugged onto it.

Throwing the rifle may also be a viable tactic. But so is killing a soldier with a cobblestone-brick.

*Picks up a P-mag and wonders if he can bash a skull in with it*
