The channeling just moves magic around between people and objects, for example wizard a is short on magic energy, kass has plenty. Or wizard b has plenty to spare. Mass can move some of that power around so they can share it
Another thing it does is kass can link to someone he gives a gem to, send that guy in to fight, kass can take some of the damage for him/her
Say wizard a is poisoned, kass could transfer it to himself so wizard a can continue
