Background:Shoji for as long as he could remember had always gone to the beach with his mother, collecting shells, watching the sunset, or just having a day in the water when it was particularly sunny, which was always quite often. One particular day he was swimming around, his mother watching him from the beach, an alligator was sneaking up behind him in the shallow waters, which was seeable by his mother, she screamed out for him to get out of the water to no avail, as Shoji couldn't hear her for the life of him, he would quickly be snapped by the alligator, it grabbing around his torso, leaving him with a sensitive body, with scarring and bite marks all around his chest. He flailed and hit, the alligator letting go and snatching his arm, quite literally as it tore it away, leaving Shoji a screaming crying bloody mess floating in the water.
Several years after this incident, Shoji would live a semi normal life, the first months being hard as he would try and use his other arm, remembering it is a stub and going into a crying fit, he was only young back then, and all the kids still laughed at him, calling him "Crybaby Freak" whenever he would cry. His mother took him out of school and took him to a pre-school for the Mentally & Physically Prohibited, where things began to go well, until one day a child that had an anger tendancy caused Shoji to cry and accidentally hit him, causing the child to grab a nearby pair of scissors and drive it into his eye, leaving one eye functioning and the other completely useless. This action caused him to be pulled out of schooling completely.
Shojis mother began to get sick of him moping around doing nothing, so he decided to look for some school for the Disabled, which she found, a school with great reviews, and no reports of harassment or injury, besides the accidental. Katawa Shoujo School for the Disabled. His mother pounced on this opportunity, quickly signing him up and setting him on his way to the Boarding school, weeping tears of joy that her little boy was finally growing up.
