The problem is that you didn't earn the Pokemon and it feels cheap and empty.

You know what's better than catching the Pokemon you want? Catching the Pokemon you want after a bunch of events and thus earning that right at the end of it.

It's a feeling of reward that the RP is missing, which is why having someone play as the Environment I think is essential.

Apparently we have to 'roll' for pokemon, so I don't think so unless we are able to encounter pokemon we want.

My ideal end game would be Starter, Legendary, Misdreavus, Cherrim, Dragonair and Aurorus. All cute and beautiful pokemon <3

I agree, I usually make up scenarios to get my desired pokemon and each one will have a different way they joined the party to keep things fun and interesting :)

If you happen to roll the rarity while looking for the Pokemon, you will meet the Pokemon automatically. I think we all agreed on that.

Also, to ensure people can fairly find the Pokemon they want, I want to propose the ability to increase those chances. Here are some possible methods you can do in-RP.
  • "Spotting" or "hearing" or some other thing anything related to the Pokemon you're looking for. For instance maybe they left behind some kind of clue that they're nearby? Basically include that in your post.
  • You can ask the next Pokemon you encounter if they've seen a <insert Pokemon you're looking for> or anything like it. This can vary in result, but it can be fun interacting with other Pokemon in a way other than fighting or catching them.
  • Anything else you can think of.

Basically, this is under the logic of, "you won't find it unless you look for it", kind of thing. You may encounter what you want by luck, but you can also vastly increase your chances by actively looking for it.

Also I encountered a Swablu, injured. There was also a Drifloon apparently abducting a kid. I may deal with the kid being abducted with Alain/Snivy right after I potion up the Swablu.

Hopefully it appreciates it. =<

I'll do this bit myself for now, but I'd like someone to act as Environment after my next post doing all I just said. Eklipse I believe volunteered.

Indeed, anytime you want me to step in just tell me what you're going to encounter and I'll act it out as best I can.

I don't know if any one has pointed this out, but I find one situation completely abstract.

Apologies if I sound a bit jerky, but Blair and Fantasia make it through route 1, get to the ferry city, get on a boat, and head to Grand City. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but really? Has no one blinked an eye at this? I'm sorry if I'm acting a bit like a jerk Sho and MF, but over the course of one day, you make it to not only one but two cities while everyone else is struggling to get out of the starting city and pass route two.

Kind of outlandish, right?

Well unless some one is trying to interact with them then I don't believe its a problem. In addition they did specifically take a different route than most. I plan on going route by route numerically so obviously I'll probably get passed by other people.

Exactly what I meant, I wasn't just gonna give myself those pokemon; of course you need to look for them in the locations they are posted at! :)

I just thought when they said random encounter, that we would only have a certian # of encounters per route, and if we didn't find the pokemon we wanted; we are out of luck.

I just want to make sure that at some point I would be able to get my contest dream team that's all :D

@Savo

We talked to @AbysmalDemon about this already, we agreed to slow down; it's just that nothing eventful worth writing about would've happened between our characters that would be worth slowing down.

We just time jumped to save time and energy for posting about 'how green the grass looks' or 'how much Fantasia's legs hurt' because it is implied they went on a long journey to get where they were, it is just condensed to save real life time and energy (That I have little of being in college).

If I went extremely slow, we would have arrived at Harport in a few weeks real life time because I have no time because of a full time college scheduel and Sho is in a completely opposite timezone in Australia.

It was just most economic time wise, and we are slowing way down at Grand City thought because their is more to do.

We can't go back and delete our posts and start from ground 0, it is what it is. :\

Hard reality is that sometimes people's timelines will go faster than yours, and I am sorry that we are so far ahead; I just don't want to lose interest because things are moving way to slow (1 post a day slow).

Yeah, we hit the city so we could slow down without boring ourselves.

What if it takes 30 rolls, I have to type all the encounters until then? I barely have time to write one post as is. *sigh*

I feel like we should have about 600 encounters anyways.

Maybe total, but I simply don't have the time to write paragraph after paragraph waiting for one elusive pokemon by a dice roll.

For people like me who are in college and don't have a million years to find a pokemon? I don't even plan to really find pokemon in tall grass, I planned to have them meet by some event (like a pokemon that kept stealing peoples food and Fantasia investigated it) or (Fantasia keeps getting harassed by a ghost pokemon her whole journey, she confronts it for the first time which gains its respect and it challenges her to a pokemon battle).

Things like that.

It seems much less time consuming and more meaningful then grinding through tall grass looking for a pokemon that may or may not show up for 30 tries.

@GrandzHelios@AbysmalDemon

Because I have a reason, I don't have time.

I am trying to balance a Full-Time College Schedule until 4:00PM, and a Job where I work from 5:00-9:00 everyday.

With that schedule being implemented in less then 15 days when I start Fall semester, I would only be able to post about once a day; maybe once in two days depending on how much homework I get.

I don't wanna waste my one post a day with meaningless random rolled encounters, talking about how I didn't get it; and I am not guaranteed to get the Pokemon I want the next roll that I do either, or the next one, or the next one, or the next one.

Then my one post a day for a whole week would be 7 encounters with 7 different Pokemon, all not the one I am looking for. Meanwhile, everyone else has done so much meaningful things in their several posts a day.

Imagine if I only posted once every two days, each one about me not finding the pokemon I wanted. In a few days, everyone has gotten further in the story.

People are beating team Nexus? I am still trying to find a Pokemon. Everyone gets Jirachi wishes? I'm still trying to find a Pokemon. Someone beats a gym leader? I am still trying to find a Pokemon.

Make sense?

I'm not really against you but I'm merely trying to suggest a compromise. If its so time consuming then why does no one suggest taking it off the board all together.

Hey, learning that you are a full time college student does change the way you can post along with other factors since you are supporting yourself.

I may be a bit new to that scene, but I think I can get an idea of how it works with you. Again, apologies for giving you flak for that. Sho is doing the same thing as you, so I can recall that he probably is also in the same situation as you. I wish there was another way to remedy this, but I think what might be going on is the best choice for now until further notice with another plan in hand.

Anyways, good luck to you two in Australia!
