@Gummi Bunnies Now I miss Halloween at school. ;c

@GreenGoat Welcome welcome, jumping into the bandwagon of welcomes ;D

@CorpusMundus I'd like to say I am. Halloween isn't a big thing in the country I'm currently residing in and I'm not able to go to the spooky costume party tomorrow. :c

@Punished Homura
I do indeed Homura! Without his works, along with those of Crowley, Howard, Smith, and a more recent Donald Tyson and Alan Moore, I wouldn't have the outlook I do now. The idea of our small place in the universe, and the vastness of the cosmos is frightening, yes. But, we should look to ourselves for all we have accomplished in such a short time. As humans it is impossible to truly look at ourselves objectively, but looking at the universe in such a way in relation to our opinion of our own species can be rather liberating and awe inspiring. It's like knowing the need for spiders and perhaps respecting them for all they do, yet we still have a general dislike of them because they can be so horrifying. To know humanity objectively is to no longer be human in any sense other than physical, and that truly would be a monstrous thing. I will accept my humanity, the weakness and the power that comes with it, and look to be part of something grander through worship and works under these great beings. The names Lovecraft and his circle gave are most likely not the proper ones for such entities but it will suffice. I doubt they exist purely in the manner which they are described, rather they represent concepts and ideas of the universe as we know it and cannot possibly hope to understand it. Then you have more human entities who may be entirely the result of our own collective subconscious and worship, who while not quite as terrifying and powerful, should be treated with some respect. Daemons are after all here to teach us, but take what they say with a grain of salt.

You started a religion based on Lovecraft? Really?

Technically speaking all beings that do not originate from your point of origin are aliens. As I could define 'Earth', my point of origin, as being this particular version of Earth, that would cause all characters within this roleplay to automatically fall under the category of 'alien'.

But hey, that's semantics. Sorry, couldn't remember what you originally called them so I just went with aliens. Because the Ethereal seemed to be in charge and your foot soldiers seemed to be alien foot soldiers.

I didn't start it, no, the worship of the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods has been around since the 70's. One of Crowley's students wrote several works on Lovecraft and the Old Ones, his name escapes me. Many members of Thelema see parallels between the current religious Aeon, the Aeon of Set, with the rise of Cthulhu. Donald Tyson in recent years has put out several works including his own version of the Necronomicon. The Cult of Cthulhu created by a former adherent of Lavey Satanism, is now recognized by the American Government and recieves tax exempt status. Just so you know~

@thewizardguy Is not a big deal. The Ethereal is likely the mind of the group, though it clearly admits to following something else. That and Quincies are humans o;

@Absolis Up to you, I'm going to kick her behind anyway ;D

That's moronic. It's like those Brittish guys who turned 'Jedi' into a national religion, except they're not doing it as a joke. How are there still people who will worship a piece of fiction?

@Savato
Kay. And I would argue that Quincies are about as far from human as you can get while technically remaining within the species, but whatevs.

They don't worship a piece of fiction, but incorporate the elements of it into their traditions.
So the Cult of Cthulhu isn't a literal worship of Cthulhu and thinking that R'lyeh will rise once the stars are right.

Indeed, many who are drawn towards lines of thinking more in common with the Abrahamic traditions see The Beast of the Sea and Cthulhu as one and the same, Nyarlathotep the false prophet, Dagon the Leviathan, etc. (Though the name of Dagon itself is a loan from the philistines of old).It is not the names or actual appearances that matter, but rather what they symbolize and represent.

Though of course in workings of ritual magick names do have meaning as words are to the spirits and gods as physical force is to us. Spirits and deities are shaped by their names and their inherent meaning within their respective traditions. Though these entities at the same time are not gods, persay. The King in yellow for instance is both entity and force. Entropy, spiritual decay, ruin, all of these are his domain, civilizations fall and crumble. All nations become Carcosa, all serve the King in Yellow in the end.
