Well, the idea was just groping characters by personality, then using RNG from there to arrange them in pairs in order to pair up characters that seemed like they'd be entertaining and interesting together.

Ahah, simple enough.

I'd be down with such a system.

Once everyone gets an opinion posted I'll decide what I'm doing.

I'm in favor of doing it that way, if you think it'll lead to more meaningful developments in-story.

Oh, well, I'm fine with RNG. If anything, if the two paired characters come to hate each other enough, it might be worth it to RP that out ICly and have some crisis force them to collaborate better...or have them RP out looking for another pair willing to swap.

As I said, I'd rather we decide. If there's people let over, RNG, but otherwise...

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter as well.

@VitaVitaAR Edited Keiji's power again. Hopefully it's good now. It reads: "Essence of combustion. Keiji can use the energy from a receiver to generate a malleable red plasma. He can mold it as he wishes, stick it to anything upon contact, and detonate it with a snap of his fingers. The strength of the explosion scales with his bond with the receiver, but he can lessen the explosion if he wishes."

Also, I'm cool with however people wanna partner up. It looks like I could have good interactions with pretty much any of the characters.

The thing about 'coming to hate each other': the already paired characters will have already been together for the better part of a year at the least. Pretty much anything that's likely to happen will have, by sheer probability, already happened.

Cuz everything ever happens in the same year you meet someone, and people certainly don't change as they get older. Especially not in highschool.

That's some internet logic if I ever did see it.

Anywho, looking forward to startin!

I'd like to clarify that this isn't anything as simple as pairing up lab partners at random or something.

Due to the importance of compatibility, after graduating together, a Tuner-Receiver pair is intended to be permanent. They're intended to work together from then on. Since, well, they're compatible. It's hard enough building that kind of relationship the first time.

This is part of why I'm not really certain on RNG, and if I did do it it'd be a much more limited version of it.

That and some people might have a specific type of character they'd like to be paired with or something like that. I do with Rika, for example.

I wouldn't mind doing this. It satisfies the people who have an idea of what they want, and speeds up the process for people who don't mind.

Honestly I'd get the concern if someone made like an extremely unlikable bigot that was constantly spouting racist slurs and punching people (a character type I've seen far too many times) or an offensively grabby homosexual stereotype (also seen a lot of), but nobody has anything remotely that unpleasant. Seems like a lot of worrying for very little reason imo. Still, pair ups based on personality has just as much fun potential as anything else, so it's moot.

Okay... People who have pairings or character types in mind, start discussing pairings.

Anyone left over/who doesn't care too much can get an RNG pairing.

This way we get both methods.

I'm not for RNG, but if most people want it (which it doesn't seem like) then I wouldn't be against it. The main points I'd be looking for in the case of my characters is a partner with a clear goal to aim towards for Sean and a partner willing to be proactive about strengthening their relationship for Kagura.

Edit: Or to be meta, Sean would ideally be paired up with someone who wants to take the lead, while Kagura would be ideally paired up with someone who wants to do more RPing and character development.

Reposting so it can be on hand for other people. I'll just throw out the general feeling I get on which characters would work with mine from skimming the character sheets for now.

Sean: Rika, James, Jaylen, Shun, Rozmonda

Kagura: Mari, Lexi, Nobuhiko, Sakie, Sora

These are just my top five, though. I'd be willing to work with anyone if they can sell me on the roleplaying opportunities. Arranged in order to highest perceived compatibility to least, from left to right.

My receiver Ryuuto would get along best with somebody who is a hard-worker like him, but his character needs somebody to help him come out of his shell.

My tuner Keiji could get along with just about anyone who isn't a total ass, but it would be most fun to have someone who could shoot playful banter back and forth with him.
