*Switches out Gabel for Kat*

Problem solved.

*has done mixed-up his RPs*
Maybe Kat had followed them to their current location and was about to approach someone until the battle broke out. Now instead of asking to join she thought it a great opportunity to show them she can be valuable.

That was my plan, having two doing the same thing could get a little too confusing.

Do it.

My first 'advanced RP' please let me know if it's not up to standard.
Also I have very little mech background.
- no games, no books, no shows.
So I'm gonna just try run off what everyone else is doing and using.

Hope the first post was ok.

I'm figuring the corner Sarah is hiding behind is the same alleyway she was originally shot from, mortars are likely either in a clear-looking spot like a parking-ramp east-by-northeast, or at the compound itself, off the map provided by Aristo.

There's also an open construction-yard ~250 meters NNW.

Meanwhile, Sarah is going full out Mellowlink.
-Which is why in YASSIR's original specs, Marlene could dismount one of the smaller autocannons.

Thing is, I had no intention of there being any mortars, until OppositionJ wrote them into Ryder's post!
But I guess we can roll with it and have them be mobile platforms mounted on the APCs that the infantry squad used for transport - they'd be north, off the map, parked in front of the HQ.

Cecilia and Sarah would be grouped up, going by my last post, and are at the far end of Highview/Mulberry, having made contact with a FRAME to the west, further down Mullberry.

@DarkStar
No need for that kind of talk!
Your last post was fine; it had both Sarah and Cecilia crossing the open street while under fire, which goes in line with my last post. I'm a bit lost on why her comms are screwing up and why she has a severely short operating time - not counting the fire she's under - but the kinks can be ironed out.
It's actually nice to see us take some hits, considering our enemies are supposed to be top-notch.

I will have a post up later on, when I've got a moment to sit down, that'll hopefully bring the engagement's conclusion nearer.

Opposition J started it.

OppositionJ wrote them into Ryder's post

Using an SPG as an APC... is not exactly the best of ideas, since a very large portion of former crew-compartment becomes ammo-rack.

Unless they want to be BMD-1 level of cozy, with a passenger sitting on each of the driver's knees. Or riding on top, of an open-top mortar-pit.
-Seriously cozy crew 2, plus 2 passengers in driver's compartment, and 3 crammed into a pocket-dimension between the engine and fighting-compartment (the valley in the rear-hull is to help them stay low when jumping out the door/hatch located immediately behind turret)

I've seen and heard of people doing sillier things in the name of strategic mobility (and therefore surprise), though

I dunno. Imagine a Bradley with a mortar instead of a Bushmaster.

They don't have to be mortars; they can be Stryker ICV-like vehicles lobbing grenades with targeting data transmitted by their FRAME allies.
Or even light mortars affixed to some of the second team's FRAMEs, which we still haven't seen.

The AMOS still has ammo-racks eating space in the troop-compartment, that was actually a problem with the Bradley itself due to the bulk of the TOW missile package easily reducing the troop capacity officially to 6, and could further reduce the load down to little as 2 dismounts in the recon-variant (M3 Bradley).

This problem is universal to all mobile-gun or fire-support conversions of personnel-carriers, it either significantly reduces its ability to carry passengers inside a combat-zone, or has to do-away with it altogether in order to function at all.

-An automated grenade launcher would be able to saturate the area quite easily.

*It would also have issues being a problem for a FRAME's armor

This said, mounting a light mortar on the engine-deck of an armored vehicle (in addition to lashing-on ammo-crates) is a thing.

I was assuming it was a battery of frame-mounted mortars acting cooperatively.

Yeah. That was written into Cannon by Opposition J. Just rode with it. The operation time thing comes from the fact she had to bypass regulators and stabilisers to get him running.

I said mortars because that's what they seemed to describe. Dumb non tracking weapons.

Bern's in the Barghest about to blow, since he hijacked it, and our adversaries sure aren't going to leave evidence!
