Basic Information
Name: Leonardo Anthony Crawford (Known as :Leo, The Spider, Mirage)
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance & Attire: Leo is a healthy young Latino male. He carries many distinct that you would expect; a mesh of curly hair that reaches don to his shoulders, the hazel colored eyes and the chin stubble. He stands at 5’8 and a half and weighs in at 175 pounds. He has an average face; slightly pointed nose, small ears, bushy eyebrows, pink lips and small eyes. His head sits upon broad muscular shoulders. Leo’s body is that of a lean build with some developed. He has a basic six pack (you know when they first start to come in and you can barely see it), his arms are more defined than his chest and his legs are normal. At best Leo looks like a track runner.
Leo only has two tattoos on his body; the first is an ‘All Seeing Eye’ on his left wrist. The second is a butterfly on his right breast. Leo does not have any major scars except one from a set of stiches across the top of his right hand from an accident at home. His skin color could be categorized as white that is kissed by the sun making it a light caramel. His face is blemish free except, but his body is covered in beauty marks from his neck down.
Leo tries to dress in his own fashion. He can be known as the most comfortable dresser ever. Even when he tries to dress nicely he still looks laid back and casual. He can be seen wearing t-shirts; graphic tees, dry-fit, muscle shirts, and a lot of cotton V-necks. He loves casual joggers, and cargo anything, shorts or pants, you would only catch him wearing jeans if he was trying to impress. He has an obsession with vans, boots and Longwing Brogue dress shoes. Other accessories include baseball caps (the ones with the metal buckle), gages, and that’s it.
Skills/Talents:Most of Leo’s skills come out of necessity from his powers. He is a good visual learner, put something into a picture or a graph and he will get it almost instantly, visual puzzles are a hobby of his too. He can draw landscapes and people very well too, not really in a mythical or a creative aspect but more realistic like self-prorates and landscape drawing. Lastly he is good at math (calculus and geometry) and physics, but not like prodigy more like if you sit a large equation in front of him it could take him a couple of hours.
Brief Backstory:Leonardo Anthony Crawford was born in the city of New Orleans on a warm Louisiana summer night. He grew up with the white picket except his fence had specs of black. In his family he had his mother, father, and 2 older sisters and an older brother making him the baby. His mother was a saint in the fresh, someone who would give you the clothes off her back and then some. The ultimate optimist, she always tried to see the good in any situation and in any person even if there was none. On the other hand his father was sort of the devil incarnate. He could care less about others and raised his children to be perfect specimens.
He believed in a sort of ‘active parenting’ from training through sports to public completion, and failure for him, was not an option. His sisters took nicely to it and grew up to be just like him, shark-like tycoons in every aspect of their lives, while Leo and his brother acted more like their mother. Unlike his siblings, Leo’s father did not know what to do with Leo. The old man felt his first three children all had potential to become great, but Leo was the runt the only thing he had been good at was art and math.
It got so bad that his father stabbed him in the hand and that is what triggered his powers. At first he did not know what was wrong with his dad. The man started screaming that he was blind and could not see, he began to act erratic and started to thrash around and his mom ran in and tried to calm the man down but ended up getting hit. It was not until the pain subsided in Leo’s hand that his father could see again. Over the next few weeks after Leo learned that he could create illusions and that is what he did to his father. Soon after his father contacted NEST to see if he could get rid of the boy and ended up enrolling him into Academy 218.
Power Information
Power Class: Cerebral
Power:Absolute Illusion: Leo can create, shape and manipulate illusions, causing targets to see, hear, touch, smell and/or taste things which do not actually exist or cause them to perceive things differently from what they truly are. Leo’s illusions grow more powerful as the raw thought, emotion, and attention of the person who is under it grows. His powers work like a spider’s web; he is a spider that spins a web that is not real. The prey that gets caught in it starts to thrash and invest more and more into the illusion thus making it stronger.
The more a person believes in his illusions the stronger and realer it gets, his illusions can get so strong that they can warp the perceptive reality for each person. Meaning that he can create the world but it is made more real by the people stuck within it, whoever is stuck within the illusion adopts it into their own mind and makes it a reality in their own mind.
Overall he can only make the base of any illusion which causes the reaction of any emotion: pain, fear, hate, anger, love, happiness, etc. Whoever he puts the illusion under makes whatever he made real.
Limits:In order for Leo’s powers to work to their full potential he has to make them as accurate as possible. But if he does not have enough information it would be like sticking a man in a paper house and telling him he is trapped. Anyone could easily break out of that, Leo need details to paint the paper, and even then if the painting on the wall is meaningless then the only outcome is confusion not true emotion. Hence the reason he is good at drawing and seeing things out, and the math of substance.
This means that the easy illusions (ones he fabricated out of the present that are close to the reality of that current moment) have only a temporary effect, but more complex illusions (ones that paint a story or creation of a world, ones that require background knowledge) require more finesse and perfection. See the mind works in a way to help the body keep itself at normality, so easy illusions get by with no problem but more complex illusions will get noticed and the subconscious will try to break itself out to get back to the last normal state. Leo’s illusions have to fool the greatest super computer on the planet to do their function: to trap the mind in a living scenario that makes the body experience a certain emotion or reoccurring thought.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:Leo’s power always sits on a thin line between reality and imagination. He himself can get caught up in what is not real, this is called self-induced illusions. If Leo’s illusion is so strong that he needs to be in it to control it, he is the most susceptible to falling into his own madness.
Leo’s greatest weakness is a strong willed person. If someone who is stubborn truthfully does not believe in the lie he has created then it will have no effect. Strong willed people can see through most illusions unless they are the complex kind that taps into the memory of that person.
Another weakness is stamina, his brain acts as a muscle, if he stretches it farther than he has before he will get fatigued and die out. He has been known get bloody noses and faint from over exertion. Also he can only trap three people in the same illusion at a time. Any more than that and he faints.
