When reading your recent post, Krazikk, I had visions of shoving a tiny Knight Artorias the Abysswalker into a scabbard.

I'm sorry is it just me or are maiden powers really overrated by their guardian group? I mean Amber wasn't able to take on 3 people (+ maybe Neo). Not that impressive, I think she should be afraid of the termite.

Element of surprise aside, I think Amber handled herself quite well. She just had an unfortunate case of dramatic tension when she was about to take out Emerald (Not that it would have stopped Cinder if Emerald was offed then and there, probably) with an arrow to the back. Plus Qrow literally came in at the last minute, when everyone was turkered out from the fighting. Heck I'm certain even Cinder would have a hard time taking a more-or-less fresh Qrow, Maiden powers notwithstanding.

Though it really does make me start to question just how aura works. Assuming that Amber wasn't totally pooped out, you'd figure her aura would have protected her from getting shot in the back, or at least not leave her in such a weakened state. Could be explained by Cinder's arrows being funky, but I dunno. Maybe it's one of those active passives where if you aren't trying to protect yourself your aura isn't going to save you, so people can still be assassinated in their sleep or whatever.

Also who wants to get their limbs chopped off? I think Gren should start selling cybernetic parts.

I'm just going to mention, I called that it wasn't Neo doing the illusions.

Also, if you look when the explosion arrows happen, Amber's Aura falls away, leaving her vulnerable. I'm assuming it was her Maiden Powers allowing her to protect herself after that.

If you watch closely the part where Cinder uses a devastating fire attack against Amber, you can see her aura break just like Mercury's did in his fight.

Oui. Well then that makes more sense. Still, dramatic tension was Amber's downfall. Shoulda just flatten the place with ice knives or something, let the AoE finish off the scrappers.

Mercury is worth at least a team's worth of first years. He was trained from birth by a top notch assassin to end human life with ease, and is expert in a fighting style that revolves around a pair of legs that can take an Ember Celica blast at point blank and come out no worse for wear. Emerald is a master thief who has displayed, in her only instances of combat, zero signs of wear, a talent for psych warfare, and a devastating ability at mid to long range. Even in the fights they've thrown to put the heroes at ease, they've dominated until it was convenient not to. In the one fight we've seen them go full speed on, the only reason they didn't straight up murder Coco and Yatsu - the two strongest fighters we've seen out of Beacon students - was because it was too soon in the plan.

Judging Amber by the most hardcore badasses in the show, especially after she was ready to kill one, PLUS the current candidate for Big Bad, isn't exactly fair. Even if discounting the point above about dramatic tension in a narrative.

Well yeah, but still they way Ozpin portrayed it. I expected something more... earth shattering, shall we say. But I'll nod at the experience argument. And she could have been holding back, good characters tend to do that for some reason instead of going for the kill.

Might the some reason be that good characters don't kill people outright?

Yeah, nah. The requirements to wield Mjolnir include "Must be willing to kill" for a reason.

You mean Thor's Mjolnir? The requirements for that are to be "worthy" not "good"

Word of God literally says that "Only those of sound moral character and integrity may lift Mjolnir." Sometimes you have to kill people, especially so in worlds with super-powers.

Yes, let's trust the psychotic vigilante with family problems that make the Jackson 5 look stable by comparison.

In Batman's first appearances in the Detective comics he was a badass mother fucker who killed who he liked and damned the consequences. Only bad guys of course but he killed a lot of people.

I'm not too happy about a lotta what's going into BvS but Batfleck looks like the best character interpretation in at least two decades so I'm not gonna jump on the "he's a maniac" Batwagon

(ayyoooooo channeling my inner fiordilatte today)
