When reading your recent post, Krazikk, I had visions of shoving a tiny Knight Artorias the Abysswalker into a scabbard.
Element of surprise aside, I think Amber handled herself quite well. She just had an unfortunate case of dramatic tension when she was about to take out Emerald (Not that it would have stopped Cinder if Emerald was offed then and there, probably) with an arrow to the back. Plus Qrow literally came in at the last minute, when everyone was turkered out from the fighting. Heck I'm certain even Cinder would have a hard time taking a more-or-less fresh Qrow, Maiden powers notwithstanding.
Though it really does make me start to question just how aura works. Assuming that Amber wasn't totally pooped out, you'd figure her aura would have protected her from getting shot in the back, or at least not leave her in such a weakened state. Could be explained by Cinder's arrows being funky, but I dunno. Maybe it's one of those active passives where if you aren't trying to protect yourself your aura isn't going to save you, so people can still be assassinated in their sleep or whatever.
Also who wants to get their limbs chopped off? I think Gren should start selling cybernetic parts.
I'm sorry is it just me or are maiden powers really overrated by their guardian group? I mean Amber wasn't able to take on 3 people (+ maybe Neo). Not that impressive, I think she should be afraid of the termite.
Well yeah, but still they way Ozpin portrayed it. I expected something more... earth shattering, shall we say. But I'll nod at the experience argument. And she could have been holding back, good characters tend to do that for some reason instead of going for the kill.

Might the some reason be that good characters don't kill people outright?

Yeah, nah. The requirements to wield Mjolnir include "Must be willing to kill" for a reason.

You mean Thor's Mjolnir? The requirements for that are to be "worthy" not "good"
<Snipped quote by chukklehed>
Word of God literally says that "Only those of sound moral character and integrity may lift Mjolnir." Sometimes you have to kill people, especially so in worlds with super-powers.

Batman disagrees.

Yes, let's trust the psychotic vigilante with family problems that make the Jackson 5 look stable by comparison.
