So far, 10.5 players. Still need GMs. If you are interested, please PM. I would rather not sift through applications and such on here.

It is most likely more work. I would encourage you to either opt for a player role or not at all. You also have to help me research, decide on Difficulty Classes, proofread all the posts, it's a lot of work.

In that case I'll opt out. If I were to participate, it'd be to help out without having a lot of work on my plate. You folks have fun!

I've been absent from RPG for a week or two due to real life issues, and finding this upon my return is a nice surprise. I'd love to play.

Establishing an end date seems moot because there is almost no possibility whatsoever of the RP surviving that long, but a starting date is definitely something we should establish sooner rather than later.

I'd like to be a bit more optimistic, but ya, starting date I am going to say 1836 + 1d100. The result will be posted soon, time-stamped.

I really don't think rolling a dice for a starting date is wise. WiR usually begins preceding an especially pivotal historical event (hence 'World in Revolution'), and the interbellum isn't really optimal for that unless we want to push it ahead a decade and make this WiR: Hitler Edition.

For a start date of 1927, our big event would be... the Great Depression?

1927, the year where Germany's economy went to shit.

What year should we end it? 1947?

I agree with Nexerus here. We should not randomly pick a date solely on a dice role. I think there has been several people who have stated that they would like to start in 1836 (a date that we have not done on this board yet). Furthermore, we should not even worry about an end date. The game ends whenever it ends.

I think that 1836 would be a good date. There has been three 1836 games on the Paradox Boards and we can see if we can salvage anything from their stats (so things that they used in those games seemed totally unnecessary).

The problem with 1836 is, I know very little about the year, and the volunteer for First Order GM, @Dannaroo, have a smaller bank of knowledge of this time period. The reason I wanted to roll the dice is because I had gotten various requests for a wide range of years. Also, no, there is no end date, and I don't believe I ever said there was.

So, that leaves us with two options:
We can go with 1836 and the GMs will be less adept with research, or we can go with 1900-1927 and have a dissatisfied majority player base.
Between the two, I will always choose the latter, but I am letting you know now that my knowledge base is slightly diminished, and I do not believe that the year will be making things lighter on me. The stats I am largely unconcerned about, being that the stat block would have looked very similar if I created the game for 1192. End rant.

In any case, seeing as we would like 1836 C. E.: The Crusade of Epikawsumness IV (Working Title), I will assemble the final sheet and a difficulty class guide. I am going to take a bit of liberty and eliminate Cavalry regiments in exchange for Artillery right off the bat, and set some dates for unlocking certain possible orders, such as Air Strikes in 1915/16 or something. But that is a while away.

EDIT: Re-read my post and decided to add this. Not at all trying to shame anybody into changing their mind. Just updating you.

@Gaebrael: What we were trying to say was that, whatever date we choose, we should not just pick a random date out of thin air (or rather live it up to a dice roll). Whether it is 1836 or 1900, it needs to be picked because we would like to play during that time. For example:

1836:
-Texas War of Independence vs. Mexico
-Ongoing Skirmishes between the Netherlands and Belgium
-Ongoing The Carlist War in Spain
-Second Egyptian-Ottoman War happens in 3 years in RL.

1900:
-Boxer Revolution in China
-2nd Boer Wars involving the UK
-Ongoing Philippine–American War

I'm going to be playing regardless of the year (unless we go back waaay too far). I mostly just didn't like the idea of deciding the starting date on a dice roll, the year rolled was largely incidental. If a later period would be easier for you to manage as a GM, go with that.

God knows the biggest problem with WiR on this board is finding someone who can tolerate running it.

Alright, then. I have the following years that I feel comfortable with:

1812. Empires are crumbling, Brits are being taken down a peg, Japan begins to emerge, the Ottomans are still kicking arse in the Balkans, a lot of Imperialism to still be done.

1836. Possible, and I just spent about an hour researching, so I feel a bot more comfortable. Duck would get to play Texas and stay independent.

1900. Nice and juicy turn-of-the-century. Cultural movements, even number, and new tech.

1910. Very close to WWI, right after I believe the Russian-Japanese War. I would give us four years to get ready for the war, and then we get a nice juicy centerpiece conflict to keep everybody on their toes.

1920. After the war, perhaps things go a different route. Perhaps the allies end up forgiving Germany's debt, perhaps Hitler never rises. Who knows?

I am up for any of them, although the middle three would be my preferred options (1836 being my #1 choice).

1836, 1812, and then 1900.

So, 1836 it is I suppose, with 1812 being nearky everybody's second choice. Waiting on just a few more.
